[Q] Is it possible to flash new roms via temp cwm - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted my s2 I9100g. nothing more. I have temp_cwm.zip. Can i flash roms OR flashing blazing_safe kernel is necessary.

Yea you can flash kernel and rom with temporary cwm. But I advice you to flash kernel with permanent recovery and then flash rom.

Custom Roms

Hey Guys,
Just got my new Galaxy S2 Yay, Can I jump straight into installing custom roms with Odin or do I need to do something first?
Regards,
Fenlig
Normaly custom ROMS come in .zip formats and if I'm not wrong you have to flash them via CWM recovery. For this you have to first root your phone:

Then flash a kernel that installs CWM recovery, I use CF root.

Then you put the ROM in internal sd card, reboot in CWM recovery and flash the custom ROM.

[Q] Question about the stock rom

Basically, can I use BeastMOD or QuikSense without having to flash their kernel? OR must I stay on the stock rom with the stock kernel?
I used a friends computer to unlock and root because my computer won't install drivers/recognize my Amaze...and from what I understand that (adb/fastboot) is needed to use the kernelflasher?
You can flash the ROM's via CWM recovery. The kernel remains as is. XBoarder is working on an oc'd kernel that you would flash separately.
If you already have a custom kernel (non stock) you can use my method of flashing. 100% CWM Recovery flashable.

A second reboot is required. To check if it's installed properly check for the name Paul under kernel version.

[Q] Want to update Ginger2.3.4 to JB4.3 [facing issues]

Respect members,
I recently decided to upgrade by Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from default 2.3.4 to "PACMAN Custom Rom" which looked amazing to me. I haven't USB cable so after a bit search, i found "Framaroot" and rooted by mobile. I have downloaded the "PACMAN Rom" but the only problem i have is that i am unable to flash "CWM recovery" without USB. Is there any solution? And if Once i flash "CWM recovery". Should i install "Dorimanx Kernel" as suggested by "bluefa1con" ? Dorimanx Kernel in its thread clearly states that you shouldn't flash the kernel if you are using GingerBread. Then how should i update? Should i just let the PACMAN Rom use the Stock Kernel.
Please don't mind if it seems kiddish because i am completely new to this.
Your Help is Appreciated.
You can flash cwm recovery without usb, you just need to find to correct package and flash it via stock recovery, i think you will need JB bootloader too tho. But, i don't recommend first time flashing without a USB cable, if something goes wrong you can't use odin to go back, so just borrow one or buy one, they aren't expensive, and you can flash JB stock via odin and then flash a custom rom, that would be better imo.
Either use the appropriate CF kernel to root and install CWM, or upgrade to JB/ICS using Odin and flash Siyah/Philz kernel. Then, once u have CWM recovery, flash your desired custom ROM.

Cannot perma-flash custom recovery

Hey guys!
So I was helping my friend flash a ROM to his S2(G) but the problem is, after flashing the zip file for the recovery in the stock recovery as is recommended in the guides here, should I reboot, it once again reverts back to the stock recovery, and not the custom one.
Can someone please help?
Thanks again.
And please ask me for any more details if necessary.
That's because the partition layout on the I9100 is different to other phones; recovery is 'baked' into the kernel & not in a separate partition. So that's why when you flash a recovery independently, the recovery will revert to stock recovery (or whatever custom recovery the custom kernel you're currently running has) when you reboot.
You need to flash a custom kernel which will give you a rooted phone + permanent CWM; PhilZ seems to be easy (search for the thread).
If you want a specific CWM version, you'll need to flash a kernel that has it.

[Q] CWM compatibility?

why my device always gets stock when i try to install CWM recovery for my GT-I9100? i try to install the version 6.0.2.9 using odin but my device just boot with the start up "samsung galaxy I9100" then i hear a start up tone but the screen is just black then nothing,i just flash stock rom to back my phone to its normal condition but still want to have a CWM recovery on my rooted device please help me guys.
heres my device>>>>>
AFAIK, you can't just flash only cwm. It comes bundled with a custom kernel. You can try philz.

Haven't tried it myself ever, so read it carefully before acting on it.
