I would recommend going for canvas 2. It's durable (friend's phone had fallen twice n the touch didn't shatter). Its got good development in terms of C'roms and kernel development, the only down side is it comes stock with ICS(though more battery friendly than JB in my opinion).
here's the link for the price on flipkart- http://www.flipkart.com/micromax-ca...3,,,c,,,,,,,&gclid=CM-QsPGqmLoCFbF34godriYA5Q

Keep in mind mediatek doesn't have many roms due to cyanogenmod. I wouldn't recommend it as I have a Canvas 2. It's a good phone, durable and has a active development forum considering mediatek chip but not for flashaholics.
If you would still like to buy one, go with Xolo Q800 or micromax canvas hd.
Xolo Q800 and micromax canvas hd have a smaller development community but are more powerful. Canvas 2 is less powerful but has a bigger development forum. (Xolo Q800 has a smaller community then Micromax canvas hd). The choice is yours' now.
Canvas HD and Xolo Q800 might get cyanogenmod 10.2 as fae2s is getting it which is also mtk6589 so go with either of these.
My preference would be Canvas HD

Canvas hd is seeing some development regarding kernel( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46372210#post46372210 )
Though mediatek will not release framework sources (maybe ever!) so original development such as CM or paranoid may not be available.
BTW if ur going for canvas HD most phones have been facing issues with faulty battery readings(the 30% to 10% drain) and flickering issues
make sure your phone doesnt have any of these issues before tweaking brother!

If you could wait it out you could go for xperia C bro, its got the same config as the canvas HD. The price should be around the same margin.
Last time I checked it was said to release in India mid october.
Have a xolo play with me but I would not recommend that even though the specs are brilliant i am facing too many problems with that.
SODs, flickering issues...
BTW the faulty battery reading does not affect actual battery life check out the SS, I get good on screen time even though i got the 30% to 10% drain, it doesnt bother me much.
Canvas HD is a good choice bro. Better go with micromax canvas HD it is a good phone

As we witnessed the launch of Canvas 4, i took a sigh of relief as the specifications are exactly that of our Canvas HD. Yes it does have a few add ons with it, but given that everything under the hood is same as that of our Canvas HD, can the gesture controls and all other perks added to Canvas 4 be ported to our phone as well? Yes i know the phone has just launched a few hours back, but in the coming months who knows what the developers can come up with!
We want it
Yes our kind mods will port those features to our phone soon :.. Hopefully :highfive:

Thanks but want to see Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie which is rumoured to release this august on canvas HD.
Micromax is doing very good with regular updates. Much better than samsung et. al. If five devices are updated this time to 4.3 then we can expect at the least that the key lime pie will come on our way too

Micromax doesn't even add it's own software on top of android, unlike samsung. it merely adds a link called Mmx live (which will lead to it's website) before releasing their version of Android. No wonder why it comes up with updates faster than samsung. Yet, you could always expect some bugs with micromax's firmware. It has a long way to go before it's R&D gets better.
I think they are doing a pretty job since mmx also customizes its android its just not vanilla android lil bit of skins here and there are good.mmx is just a developing company whch already gt some gestures working on their phones at such an early stage so mmx deserves double likes

Well people using samsung seek for getting clean cyanoogenmod roms so that the softwares added on top of android can be removed ... So mmx not adding anything on top of android is kind of win situation for some of us
I saw a link, there, I read, Micromax is providing 4.3 update to many of their Micromax Devices.
Sadly they are not providing update for Canvas 2 A110.
Any idea when 4.3 is rolling out for CHD?
I expect the KitKat :fingers-crossed:

CM does not support dual-SIM devices yet. So not easy to port it. Hopefully, a solution will be found soon.

Go for Micromax A110Q Canvas 2 Plus. Trust me you wont regret buying a Micromax.
Price 10,700/-
1.2ghz quad core processor
1gb ram
8mp autofocus cam
Jelly bean 4.2 out of the box.
I'm using it since 3 months and trust me i'm extremely satisfied.
Another option for you is Micromax A92 Canvas Lite.
Price 8500/-
1.2ghz dual core processor
512mb ram
5mp fixed focus cam.
Jelly bean 4.1 outnof the box.
My dad is using this handset since last 3 months and its an equally good phone for the price.
Both the phones are extremely well built and it does not feel cheap.
Go ahead and check it for yourself.
Good luck!

welll....I heard a lot about both canvas and canvas HD but I'm not sure about its scope in customizations. How about its custom recovery, roms and mods? I would hate to use the stock rom without any personalization and mods.

and guys, Thanks for helping me with this!
What is Micromax trying to accomplish by not putting a simple Compass/Magnetometer hardware in the Canvas phones?
I mean seriously how much cost-saving are they doing by such a silly exclusion???
I have been using the Micromax Canvas HD A116 for the past 1 year and it is indeed a phone of worthy praises! The only problem I faced is the Compass otherwise the phone is awesome...
Other minor drawbacks are [1] low phone memory [2] no Kitkat update (atleast not yet )
Can someone please suggest a phone which has the following features
-> Dual-Sim Android
-> 2 GB RAM
-> Compass/Magnetometer
-> Sufficient Phone Storage
-> preferably below 25k
Thanks,
Gauss

I Have Abandoned Micromax when they did not include magnetometer EVEN in the "Android One" phone; when the other two other manufacturers of "Android One" had included them. This smacks of arrogance on their part.
And I find a magnetometer very useful for many of the apps that I use and a couple of my apps cannot function without a magnetometer (like antenna finder).
