My phone goes into a reboot loop after 5 seconds of being the battery being put in.
I can make it into the Samsung download screen but then it reboots again. I'm also unable to get into the recovery now, or manually reboot.
I figure the phone is probably done for, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Stuck power button.
I can hear the click of the button. So I can't imagine it would be that...

Even with the audible click this is a known issue with these exact symptoms.
Disassemble the device, clean the power button with a q-tip and Isopropyl alcohol let dry then reassemble.
Also have a look at the battery itself, is there any bulging or swelling? That could be the problem.
Alright I'll give it a go.
As for the battery, it was replaced about a month ago, no bulging is visible.

So that actually worked. I'm quite surprised considering the button is soldered on the board and I just soaked it with rubbing alcohol. Thanks.

I've noticed sometimes when I change batteries that my camera flash blinks when I insert it. Is this a problem with the phone circuit or just the battery discharging on the contacts? The only thing I could find about other people's experience with that was from the phone getting wet. My phone has never been wet.

I've noticed this before with someone's phone... I pulled the battery out and the camera flash blinked when I reinserted the battery. Turns out this issue was caused by the SIM card because it was going bad. Could this maybe be the issue?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
That sounds really odd. No, sim is good. I thought it may be something simple like static.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
Mine has done that before stopped when i used the extended battery
Thank you for the reply! I was actually using the extended battery at the time. Just hoping I wasn't having a problem more serious with the phone other than a little static flux when touching the contacts. It only happens on initial contact. Taking it out and reinserting doesn't reproduce the effect.

Is there a way to get rid of it? Every time I charge with the phone turned off, that stupid screen stays on all the time, causing the phone to over heat and not charge at all. I have to cool it down for a good 10-15 minutes before it can start charging again. Any suggestions?

Don't charge it while it's off, it's a problem for everyone with an unlocked bootloader I believe.

Does it actually hurt the phone or battery? Just out of curiousity . I didn't read it in the forums.

The phone overheats (like the surface of the sun) and it actually drains the battery instead of charging it. You have to cool the phone down before it can normally charge again. Even if its plugged in, my battery still went from 7 to 5 to 3 until I cooled the phone down

I just noticed that lol. I had a couple times where it showed it. But I was able to reboot to recovery and restart without it heating. But 30 minutes ago I let it sit for 15minutes and it did get hot, much like oc and benchmarking.

It seems as if my sensor had broken. There's no way to wake the screen during phone calls, and when they end I have to pull the battery because other wise the screen just stays black. I'd just like to disable it altogether, any help?

This seems to be a common problem. I had this. I fixed it the first time by re calibrating the sensor and doing all of these stupid things with the terminal. The second time I figured out that all that has to be done is blow some compressed air into the earpiece for 10-30 seconds. Then it's fixed.

Do you have a case on your phone? Mine was doing the same thing and the air wasn't the cure it was the case. It didn't actually cover it or touch the sensor but it was close enough to it that it screws it up. Just an idea.. Take the case off...

Something similar happened to my sisters g3 two days ago. She pulled down the notification but it only came half way and the phone froze. A battery pull was the only way to fix it, thankfully it hasn't happened since.

Thanks for your help. I think when I put this otter box symmetry on I had some dust or something messing it up. I took it off and it immediately started working. Blew the case out with duster and now I'm good.

That's interesting. My sister doesn't have a case yet so I guess her issue must be different. Btw if it happens again enable developer mode and show touches, maybe your case is causing ghost touches.

Only freeze up I've had was when i was using the camera. Took some pics, recorded a video, took some more pics, exited camera app, phone froze up and i had to pull the battery. I've tried to reproduce it but can't.

Good thinking on the developer options. That might come in handy if I need to take it back to best buy. I've got the headphones Jack issues plugging it into my car stereo as well. Software can fix that so no big deal.
