I have a rooted galaxy nexus. How can I disable to OTA update notification, its driving me crazy. I have tried the method where you use root explorer to access cache/fota folder, but I do not have a fota folder. Any other ideas?
Try deleting the application with any root explorer?

Pleaz help!!
I rooted my fascinate with z4root. Then, I unrooted. Then, I noticed that my superuser was still there. I tried to delete it but couldn't. Then, I heard that u can delete it by rooting, so I tried to root it again. But for some reason, z4 keeps saying, you already have the such binary. Unable to root. I then tried to root using other programs on my computer with one click root program. That kept saying, unable to root device. Please help me delete the su or reroot my phone.
A few simple commands with an app called terminal emulator, free in market. Search YouTube for "fascinate remove root" for the commands

You can also set to stock using Odin. There is also a way to delete the root files using root explorer if you still have root access but I'm guessing not as that happened to be after the last update.

Finally I found a way to disable gingerbread system update notification which is annoying to the user specifically with an non rootable update like .62,
Use Rom Toolbox app or any other app that has the capability to disable an application to freeze the system update application then reboot the device, the notification will disappear.

If you have ROOT, you can use Root Explorer or ES Explorer and go to phone memory system/app/ and delete/rename UpdateCenter.apk or you can freeze this application in Titanium backup application.

Yes, this what I said. Freezing the update app will disable the update notification

Hi,
I just updated my SGS to 2.3.6 (JW4) with CF-Root. I've been using Root Browser since 2.3.5 (with Superuser) with no problems but since updating to 2.3.6 (with SuperSU), Root Browser does not get root permissions. For example I can read the system partition but cannot write to it (like deleting a file). Also if I click on a file on the system partition and check it's properties Root Browser does not show the permissions, it just display N/A.
After reading some posts I tryed some suggestions:
- configured SuperSU to the default allow action instead of prompting me
- installed Superuser, don't launch it, just install to check if it could be a problem with Root Browser way of cheking for root by using the presence of superuser.apk
- uninstalled and reinstalled Root Browser
None of the above has solved my problem. All the other apps that require root work fine.
Can someone confirm that Root Browser does indeed work with SuperSU 0.87?
Anyone has any suggestions for me to try?
Thanks.
Hi,
Yesterday I received an email from Root Browser dev informing that there is in fact an incompatibility between Root Browser and SuperSU. There will be an update to Root Browser in the future to correct this.
Just to pass along the info to anyone having problems.
Thanks.
Well I've flashed a stock official virgin rom since I'm done with customs, the question its because I have superuser premium and it has the ability to go ghost mode (hide from upgrades so the device won't lose the root) but.... I know the rooting process leave my stock rom untouched being able to receive OTAs updates on my Gnex... but I don't know if the rotting process here will be the same... I mean will I still be able to get my OTAs (aka future ICS updates). On the gtab if I'm rooted?
My tab its carrier free, meaning ill get the OTA as soon as Samsung put the little file in the OTA server... I don't think I'm flashing custom ROMs as i love some Samsung apps wich need the touchwiz framework to work but at least in ICS I got the Nova launcher waiting so i can run Samsung apps with ICS AOSP looks...
Thanks in advance for the info

unrooting is easy. Use busybox app from market to remove busybox, delete superuser app from /system/app with es file explorer or root explorer, download superuser app from market, remove su-binary from /system/xbin or /system/bin. Uninstall superuser app.

My Galaxy S4 is rooted and running VRUAME7.
On advice from this forum, I did the following to prevent further updates:
Frozen via Titanium Backup: FWUpgrade.apk and SDM.apk
Renamed file: /etc/security/otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak
Renamed file: /system/app/ wssyncmlnps.apk to wssyncmlnps.apk.bak
The phone still downloads a system update almost every day, then displays this message:
Software update unsuccessful
Sorry, there was a problem updating your SAMSUNG SCH-I545. No changes were made.
I'm glad that the phone isn't updating (or undoing my root access), but I'd like to stop it from even attempting to do so. Can anyone offer a method to do this?

If you read the post to the end he's done exactly what a forum search would have told him to do. He's posting I think because freezing fwupdate.apk and sdm.apk didn't work to stop the update notifications or an update from trying to install.

i think you have to freeze sdm1.0 in tb as well...

My phone won't let me rename those two files...I tried using es file and root explorer. Es just does nothing. Root tells me the file is read only and I can not find a way to change to rw. In es have have root manager activated but it still won't let me change it. Any ideas?
