stil woried abt lockscreen n launchers.
Are you using the stock ROM? Apps that are in /system/app cannot be moved to the SD. If you installed it via downloading/installing from the market or somewhere else, you can move it.
Everything that feels like it should be launched no matter what or those that need to be started quickly on boot, keep it on the phone memory.

Yeah. m on stock.
did move sum apps to sd via app 2 sd enabler.
Cmon guys I thougjt it was safe to move all sh#t to sd
It's safe. It's just that apps that need to be started on boot must be there as soon as it can. Read and write speeds on the SD card is much slower than on the phone memory.
Well he didnt ask for fast boot
It's not about fast booting It's about getting the things you need as fast as you can. For example, I need a widget to load as fast as it can since it has to be there as soon as the phone boots. That was my point
Everything that you don't use everyday move to SDcard (if possible). If you move favourite apps to SD and you acces them all day long you will shorten the SDcard's life.
I have void with a2sd enabled. So all user applications are on sd. Can I use titanium backup to move some apps to internal memory?

I used Titanium to move a lot of stuff over to the SD from Internal... Stuff in the /system directory doesn't affect your phone's "Internal Storage Space" as reported in the Settings menu since /data and /system are separate partitions. Apart from /system apps, the only thing that I would want to move to the SD that it couldn't move was the PayPal App from the app-private location. Going into ADB wouldn't allow me to do it either.
Titanium also allowed me to uninstall a bunch of the **** that came installed like game demos. This did not free up additional storage space, with the exception of what it removed from Dalvik-Cache. Which, btw is going to be your biggest issue... Some ROM's allow you to move this to the /cache partition, but this is a relatively small partition (~56MB) on this phone and my Dalvik-Cache currently takes up ~90MB.
Pls reply here guys.

I use app 2 sd to move everything I dont need frequently on SD, than just long press on those program from app 2 sd and Open them.
It's a bit tricky and I dont know other ways (on the home screen most of SD apps wont appear...) but I never had slow opening and the like
Everything was ok till xtesterday.
today i rebooted ma cell,
and all d apps disappeared of sd.
though sd is accessible via file manager, gallery.
i tried formattingsd,cell reset.
bt all in vain.
cant install from file manager.
cant even install from market.
even unable to unmount ma card.
any solution???

I used Titanium again and used it to incorporate the updated GApps into the ROM. I knew that I had about 56MB free on the system partition. Putting Gmail, Maps, Street view, Market and anything else that I could find freed 30MB on the data partition.
Before turning on usb connect I have about 25MB of internal storage space. Somehow the phone hang when turning on the usb connect and I have to reboot it. After the reboot I lost around 8MB of internal storage space .
I have look through the files using root explorer and did not come across any unusual big files or names.
Is there a program that help to recover the lost space or how can I go about to recover the lost space. I have tried titanium backup dalvik-cache cleaning but failed to recover any space.
Can I delete the log file from the internal storage /data/log directory (see attachment).

Using stock ROM Froyo and the phone is rooted.
I think the log files in /data/log directory are text files. I have deleted files which are more than 2 MB and I got back 86MB of space. The phone now seems to response better and has not encounter any issue yet. Why are there so many log files in the first place, using up precious space. I am tempted to delete all the log files. Is it a good idea.

Hey!
You can delete log files, BUT SOMETIMES they are useful. Of course if you DONT know how to use log files your self, then you can delete them, but some apps(maybe most of them) great them again(log files, I mean).
And if you want some more space, you can move you APPS to SD, with a2sd or link2sd from MARKET. Of course phone acts better, if it hase more SPACE to manage.
CHEERS!
wow that's curious, my log files aren't bigger than 300k, and have only 5 files. :S

Except for those that must be installed to internal ROM, all my apps are installed in SD card. Now I can move all the log files to SD card and delete from the internal ROM.
So i just went to download something off the internet it said i did not have enough space on my sd card. I don't know how this is because yesterday i had 2gb left and now all of a sudden i only have 30.56mb. So i unistalled a bunch of apps and i am still stuck with 30.56mb which that should of went way up. I only have like 20 apps so there is no way there should be only 30mbs left. Does anyone know how this has happened or how i get it back?
apps will not take up any space on the sd card unless you explicitly move them there through the applications menu or other means... so deleting apps that weren't on the sd card to begin with would not free up any space... If I were in that situation, I would connect the phone to the computer and check the size of each folder on the sd card and see which folder is the biggest... though I'm sure there are quicker methods... have you been doing a large amount of backups or downloads or taking lots of 3d photos and videos?
Omg so i just deleted 440 mb off of it cause i got rid of titanium backup and the free space went down even further! now its at 4.59 mb. wtf
what did you use to delete the titanium backup data? did you do it through something like ES file explorer or Astro? or did you connect the phone to your computer to delete the files?
the phone to the computer? why
are you using a mac by any chance?
nope ubuntu
check your LOST.DIR and see how much data resides in there - if I'm researching this right, theres a chance that the deletions you are making are somehow not completing or something like that...
I did that but that only gave me 50mbs, i got rid of 440 from titanium so why isnt that showing up in free space?
well, I'm stumped and unfortunately, the GF is home from work so it's bed time... at this point I'd probably copy the entire contents of the sd card to the computer - format the SD card - and copy the contents back... that should remove any chance of there being a "ghost file" or anything taking up unnecessary space... see you in the morning -
Did you nand backup anything
Like the person above said nanodroid back ups take a lot of memory
I did a factory reset and that didn't fix it but then i noticed a new folder called .Trash-1000 so i checked that deleted it and now have 3gb. So that worked i don't know how that happened tho. Thanks for helping tho.
.Trash-1000 is apparently the "recycle bin" for Ubuntu. the files you were deleting were simply going there to await permanent deletion. good to hear you got it figured out though...
So, I'm not a noob, been rooting and running custom since the Nexus 1. I've searched and tried every fix, but no joy! I'm running doom's latest kernel and Monx latest rom. I've manual changed the proper files, and I've used apps like Fix SD and others and still can't write to my external SD card. Obviously, I'm rooted, so what am I doing wrong? I've seriously tried everything! Even the Music to SD module for exposed acts like it works, but when I try to use Play Music, it says "no space available". Even the Z2 built in "Transfer to SD" facility fails.
Please help!
Thanks,

Try this:
1. Using a root-enabled file manager like root explorer, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml file and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add this group definition: <group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save changes.
5. Restart.
:good:
if the above method doesent work for you
you can try using a xposed module called handle external storage, it automaticly alows use of your External SDcard by default
*(you need root , xposed installer and the modle its self (it can be found from within the xposed installer under downloads)
Tried both these methods. To be fair, I tried them both again, just to make sure. As far as I know, all methods modify platform.xml, but no matter what I do, I can't write to the sdcard1 folder. My usual test is using Root Explorer to try and create a folder on Sdcard1. Always fails. Honestly, the ROM I'm using should have been enough, as it comes with write to external SD already enabled via the platform.xml tweak already. I even did a full factory reset yesterday to test. Still no joy.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
-Hans

Still not working
Many thanks to the gents who replied already. Unfortunately, none of the posted solutions are working. I can't find any information in the forums or elsewhere online that points to this. Everywhere I look, it says that the modification to platform.xml is THE answer. However, I've made those modifications nine ways to sunday and I still can't do anything with my external SD card. Can't create a file or folder using Root Explorer or E Strongs. Can't write backups using TiBu is the BU folder is on external SD, etc. Can't set then succesfulyl use the save location for camera or music apps as external SD. Very frustrating.
Has anyone seen or heard of this happening?
Thanks,
-Hans

Nope. Card works fine as far as I can tell. I can write to it via MTP when connected to my lappie and I can read from it just fine. But, I'll try a spare card when I get home just to completely verify.
Thanks,
i'm having the same problem but my phone is not rooted, i usually us ES File Explorer to do my file browsing and management but for some reason i can't delete, create or rename files or folders on the external SD card.
i did a clean format with my SDXC card in the phone when i first started the device and that's usually exFat. and thats when i started to notice the problem,... i couldn't delete or create files or folders from the ES File Explorer app,.... so i did a clean install again with the ES File Explorer and the problem is still there,.... also when taking picture and deleting the unwanted pictures that i took.... i would still see the pictures i deleted in the picture gallery / album....
im still confused on whats going on,.... last night i reformatted my SDXC card to FAT32,... but the problem is still there,...
i tried using the File Commander app that came pre-installed with the device...... for some reason i can rename, delete and even create files and folders.... this is the only app that let's me do all those things when it comes to the external SD card.
other apps such as QuickPic won't allow me to delete, rename or whatever i have to do my pictures on the external SD card

If you're not rooted, it's how KitKat now handled external (SDCard) memory. It does not allow apps to read/write outside of it's own folder.

i guess i have to get use to using the built-in apps to do some of the stuff i need to do,...

Yeah. That's expected behavior on a non-rooted KK phone. My problem is that I'm rooted and I can't get anything to write to external. Total Commander, Root Explorer, ES File Explorer, Camera apps, etc. Nothing will write to External SD no matter how many times I make the required mods to the platform.xml file. It is driving me nuts.

I had the same issue before when I upgraded my S4 to KK, but installing FolderMount solved it, when I started the app it showed me a message that my phone has some settings that will not make the app work and it asked me if I want to correct it.. I said yes, restart and viola every thing is okay...

Yeah you need to use the built-in file manager, File Commander, to delete your photos on microsd for non-rooted.
Looks like it was a bad card after all. I swapped it out and now everything works as it is supposed to. I have other issue, but I'll open a new thread for those
Thanks for the help folks!
i've tried fixes via this site (including one from xposed. it's not a problem for most things but titanium backup just won't do it. the folder over a few weeks seems to go read only (checked via root explorer - can't give r/w rights) and just fails saying insufficient storage space.
i have to pull the card (can't mount as proper USB anymore - shame), create a new folder and move the content over. this works for a while but then i get the same again. something makes the folder read only.
other apps are able to write/delete etc to my mSD so the fix must work so what the hell is TB doing?
i'm on 4.4.2 (this rom from a while back)
any advice (bar flashing to 444? - might do that next w/e anyway)

Are you trying to get apps to store on your Micro SD card and not internal?
On the play store, if your phone is rooted there's a fix so you can write to the card. If you wanna save space I suggest downloading folder mount.

I would advise you to backup the contents of your external card. Then format the card by inserting it into the phone. & of course USING the phone to format it.
I had the same problem. I did this & touchwood, no problems so far. Hopefully it should work for you.

Lol what are you talking about? I don't have issues with my card I think you meant to quote the other guy....
Anyways I think he's talking about the write issue in kitkat. Download SD card fix, you only need to run it once.
Oops! Big faux paus indeed! That is correct mate.
I will do a check on the SD Card fix. Seems interesting...
formatted the SD card and copied all back on - same thing happens. it's only an issue in TB for some reason. works for a while then stop.
tried the sd card fix too (must work i presume otherwise other apps would have probs too).
i'm not trying to install apps to the mSD (although would love if google brought that back).
