[Q] Lost 4g.. please help - Motorola Droid RAZR

My razr maxx has been having serious problems with 4g. 90% of the day I'm stuck on 3g with 4g in and out for less than a minute at a time. I was running the latest cm10.2 nightly and completely went back to stock using matts utility with no luck. Ive also tried swapping Sim cards from my wife's phone and that also didn't help.
I think its either some corruption of the radio files, a hardware failure or an antenna issue..if anyone can give me anything to try and fix this..I would be thankful.
Thanks!

Have you tried calling your phone provider? I have a tower to the South of me that constantly drops 4G out and then 3G takes over. It's only when I'm at home. It could be a bad tower nearby you or does this problem persist everywhere you go?

[Q] 3G acting strange..

So all of a sudden my TB's 3G started acting odd. It disappears (the 3G icon disappears) unless I'm checking for updates, in which case it randomly reappears and seems to be doing work. Toggling airplane mode on and off doesn't help nor does turning the phone on and off. I can still get texts and calls but no 3G...
Tried everything (going back to ROMs that were backed up from a few days ago) as well as flashing that full new ROM/radio update. Wasn't doing anything specific before it went out...
Any ideas?

I didn't find that this worked at all. Only since the new radio was installed have I found 3g drop because I know I am in a partial 4g area. So for the time being I don't want to turn of the ePHRD. Has anyone else experienced this since upgrading radio and such?

Well I did upgrade the radio and this fixed the problems I was having. Getting great speeds now. But I'm far away from any 4G areas :/
I am having all kinds of problems today with the 3g icon going on and off. Sometimes when its on I still do not have data connectivity. Is this a verizon problem or just the new radio?
I think it has to do with LTE being prepped to roll out and more intensive stress-tests that they may be planning.
I've been having similar issues. I did the entire rooting process then flashed BAMF 1.5 and had little radio issues, but once I saw the 3G cut out a couple times yesterday, I flashed the radio that was already on my SD card. Since then it randomly cuts in and out, and sometimes requires a full phone reboot to come back. I don't think it's Verizon at all (at least not in my case), although my area is supposed to get 4G sometime this year.
I'm hoping the official OTA has a "better" radio that can fix these issues...since I sort of had issues like this in Boston when I was stock, but at home out in Central MA, 3G was as solid as ever.
Just an update in case anyone was reading this older thread--I continued to have signal issues for a day or two after rooting but I think I just had bad timing on flashing the new radio. I've spoken to a few Verizon customers (my mom included) and many of them had 3G issues the last couple days. Yesterday it was solid as a rock, signal better than I'm used to. So it probably was just a Verizon outage, testing 4G or whatever it was that they've been doing.
It's Verizon outages right now, lots of testing upgrading going on with VZW right now.

[Q] Randomly Restarting??? Coverage drop?? Help!?

So my Thunderbolt will randomly restart sometimes.. and drain the battery life down by at least 15%...
Other then that I wont have 3G in places I most definitely should..
I haven't down any root to the phone.. Not too familiar yet with it..
I have the extended battery with it? Maybe that has something to do with it? Idk..
If anyone has any advice/tips/tricks, it'd be much appreciated!
If you're getting random reboots and your phone is not rooted then return it and get a new one. There is something wrong with the radio in the phone.
i had the same problem except i was getting shut downs rather than reboots. it def is the radio, rooting and flashing various stock-related radios fixes the problem. as for services im getting good data service but poor reception. infact my brother picked up the droid incredible 2 and i compared how many bars of reception we had and it was about he same.. 1-2 bars, will sometimes cut off and come back on again. i evem get voice mails without missed calls, another sign of dropped service.. weird but it may be in verizons coverage for sure.

This is a problem known to Verizon with their latest radio release for RUU 605.7. Engadget had an article on this a couple weeks ago. Don't return the phone. Try a different radio and or ROM combo. Mine does it... And it seems to do it more in some areas than others. I travel a lot.
My wife's Stock TB (with OTA update) had random reboots. When we went live here with 4G her phone did not pick it up at all. She called Verizon for replacement and they suggested a factory reset first. It picked up 4G and has not rebooted since.... just a thought

[Q] No 4G. Please help.

I just got off the phone with a Verizon rep and they confirmed that there are no network outages in LA. So I guess there's something wrong with my phone. I'm currently running the debloated OTA rom with the radio that comes with it. I can intermittently connect to 4G, but only the upstream seems to work. It randomly cuts out, bumping my internet off or dropping me to 3G and 1X. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Well I think you were lied to,they have been messing with the network in several market over the last few days,if flashing different radios doesnt fix your problem it has to be the network, in sioux city iowa the same thing had been going on ask day, they are getting ready to switch the 4g on, it happened in three twin cities yesterday when they expanded the coverage, can't always believe what the reps tell you

The rep seemed like an honest dude, but I guess there could be sneaky network changes and upgrades. It might also be hardware damage. Does anyone about the 4G antennas on the back cover of the Thunderbolt? Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? A ticket has been opened for some techs to check out the network in my area. I'll keep you all updated.
You're sure your network mode is on CMDA / EvDo + LTE?
Positive. I can't think of anything else except network issues or hardware damage. :\
I am still in sioux city and the network is flippin out, give it a day befor you go buying hardware

Good call on that one. 4G is up and running when I leave the apartment. The strange thing is I have basically full 4G reception outside of the apartment, but inside: no 4G, but full 3G. Such is life, I guess.

Anyone have an issue with 3G?

At first I thought maybe my area just had issues with the towers, I've only had the phone for about a month, but my data will regularly drop to 1X, and even on 3G, I will often get really low speeds.
I'm beginning to think my phone might be defective because with the EVO4G prior to it, I would get solid data for the most part all around town, and yet everyone says the MoPho's radios are better than the EVO and most other Sprint phones.
I feel like I've tried almost everything.Turning on airplane mode and re-using data doesn't seem to help. Rebooting doesn't help. Switching from home to automatic or vice versa doesn't help. Removing Sprint proxies didn't help. Using the different settings in the V6 3G script didn't help.
I don't always have bad speeds though, sometimes I've gotten up to 1.4 mbs (good for my area), I just seem to have a lot of drops and very inconsistent speeds for the most part.
I've been using CM7 but going back to Stock doesn't help. I'm using SBF 198.6 which I updated to from the phone itself. Would flashing SBF 198.7 perhaps help?
Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I doubt the phone would be defective! I think you may need to flash back to stock to test a little more. When you do, go to mobile networks and set it to automatic instead of cdma only see if that helps. I stay in a ****ty service area and I haven't seen a 1x since I've owned my photon (best radio in any phone ive owned). My GF has an epic touch 4G if I unplug the airave her phone will go to 1x and mine will not. I'm willing to bet sprint's towers are just jacked up in your area...

[Q] 3g and 4g gone, only 1x

I havent done anything to my phone lately and besides just having roms on it...so i my 3g and 4g data is now gone and i get 1x signal. The signal alternates from 1x to no signal at all. This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457659 is what i got on my phone right now and i got the radios installed and i still get 1x. At one point 3g showed up, but its really slow. So my question is, how can i fix this network problem?
ps. i have been struggling with this for 2 weeks and ive decided to try and fix it, but no luck
edit: ive taken the battery out and luck either, i also found a thread on how to fix the problem but it didnt help
i too have had this problem for 5 days now. i have been thinking of flashing the phone again to see if it would fix it.
Well i got some signal now, i went ahead and just added another ROM. I get signal every now and then, but i think i would have been better off with just constant 1x signal, instead of having no signal at all then some 3g coverage (really slow for some reason).
I just rooted my girlfriend's Thunderbolt last night and I'm having this same issue.
I had to roll back her latest OTA update and go back to 2.11.605.0 and then run Revolutionary. Since I rolled back her software, though, I've had the 1x signal issue. I assumed that installing the new ROM would fix this (BAMF Forever 1.10).
I've installed BAMF after using Superwipe, and everything runs smoothly. It's a great ROM. However, I can't get anything above 1x signal.
I've done the trick using ##778 and changing the Rev. A setting...no dice (and from what I've read, this is better in areas with no 4G. I live in Brooklyn, so I definitely want the 4G LTE).
I've tried the MR4 radio released just a few days ago, the radio from 2.11.605.9 OTA, and the MR3 radio. Same problem. I guess I'm going to try out the remaining radios I haven't touched, but I honestly don't think that will do anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Ok I take this all back, she tells me her phone now reads 4g lte with full service. Looks like jumping across a few cell towers did the trick.

have you tried using different radios? This solved my issue. I had to go though 3 radios to find the right one, but it worked.
