I'm using a 4gb SDHC card with no issue's.
I have used 4GB, 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards on a couple of S740s now and they work fine.
You don't need to load any drivers.
Now you didn't buy your 8GB card off eBay did you?

I'm using a 4GB SDHC. It works perfect.
the sdhc problem was solved ....
today i have buy an 8 gb kingstone microsdhc card and it`s working perfectly , 10x all for replays.
Seems that the bull**** nokia is not capable to make an universal standard sdhc card
Hi!
I had a problem today using a micro SD card. I bought a Transcend 4GB Class 6 microsd hc card and the phone didnt recognize it. The HTC support told me that this card is on the compatibility list, but it did not work. Now I bought a Sandisk 1GB microsd card and this one works. any idea to get the Transcend card get working?
Thanks
Chris
hmmm , there is no solution for your problem , you must change your sdhc with another microsd card (from another manufacture) ...
I found out that the 1GB card I use is a class 4 card and the 4GB is a class 6.
Do you think the problem is the class or the manufacturer?
the class have nothing to do with that (if class number is biger - the transfer speed (read/write is better)) maybe not the manufacturer is the problem , maybe that card is not an original Transcend ... is some fake card .... who know ...
I checked the sd card via the genuine test on the Transcend website and its a genuine card. So this cannot be the problem
maybe .... is not compatible , you can try exchange that micro sd with another one from another manufacture , how you see in 1`st post i have somewhat the same problem ... the nokia microsdhc (8gb) card was not reconized , i`ve buy another (Kingstone 8gb microsdhc) and not is working perfectly .
* Note - i have try the microsdhc card before buy it ... so if you can try the card before you buy it
The nokia card is not in the compatibility list for this phone but my transcend card was. Maybe there are some issues with different revisions of the card. So be warned! Dont use Transcend on this phone!
can it be that some sdcards can not be gold-carded?
I use a 32GB no-name microSD card and could not read it in windows after the gold-card procedure :-(
had to reformat it to be readable :-/

From Sony's support site:
"The tablet can recognize SD and SDHC memory cards (Class 4 or higher) up to 32GB in size. External USB Hard Disk up to 2TB (Terabytes) have been tested and will be recognized, as long as the drive is formatted in the FAT32 file system. Similarly, flash drives of any size will be recognized as long as they are formatted in the FAT32 file system."

ive read here some one has tried 64GB SDXC card on it
is that right can some one confirm before i buy it
thanks
there is this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20273764&postcount=4
I use 64 sdxc. bought the cheapest and format it to fat32 with third party tool. works excellent.
I use a 128GB SDXC card with mine. works like a charm.

here is the link to the card I'm using.
I know this is an older thread and well not trying to be a noob. I see it does work with ICS update as well but my question is do you have direct access to it or do you have to transfer to the internal storage to use it?
I use MixZing for music MX player for movies and Astro for everything else. All these work with the specially formatted SDXC?
does the gallery app with the upgrade work as well to get access to photos on the card. I have heard that some programs will not find the card at all.
I don't have ICS installed, so many of these things will have changed.
In Honeycomb, the Sony stock apps required copying data to internal storage, but third-party apps could access it just fine. The only problem (which caused the occasional app to not find the SD Card), is that most devices mount their SD Cards as either /mnt/sdcard/external_sd or /mnt/external_sd but Sony instead (at least in Honeycomb) mounted it at /mnt/sdcard2 so some apps might not see it, but most still should find it.
My note is not seeing my 16Gig micro SDHC card...
It worked before, then I switched it out (with a 4Gig card) to do some file maintenance on it on my laptop. Now neither will read it. Any ideas on how to restore the 16Gig card (reformat or something)?
Thanks
I had been using my tab S6 with a kiwibird USB C SD card reader and this worked great.
I ordered a Samsung 128gb U3 micro SD card but my issue is that while the SD card is in the tablet, the USB card reader does not get recognised. This is also the same with my Note 9.
This seems very odd. Should this be the case, or is there a workaround?
problem solved (hopefully)

I contacted Samsung support and was advised to clear the data and cache from USB settings. After doing this the SD card reader now works while the micro SD card is inserted.
Problem not solved..
Ok, so I thought the problem was solved but it seems not.
Whilst my Transcend 64gb sdxc SD card was recognised in the card reader while the micro SD was in the tablet, the Toshiba 64gb sdxc SD card was not. When I removed the micro SD card from the tablet and rebooted the tablet, the Toshiba card was recognised in the card reader.
I've no idea why this would be the case but it basically means that I can't keep the micro SD card in the tablet which is a shame.
