Test your memory card.

Sounds like it's on the verge of failure, plug into a card reader back it up then return it to the vendor for replacement.

Either it is about to die OR it is not inserted properly... Try pressing just little more inside...

Not sure where you bought your phone at. Have you taken it to a tmobile store and have them try? It could be a defect.
No it has been working just fine for like 10 months now for some odd reason it sometimes holds it and sometimes not

thats really odd.... when you insert the sdcard can you feel the spring engage? does the lock engage?(feel a little click after spring is compressed)? do you unmount the external_sdcard often? maybe things have just worn down....(i've only removed the sdcard a few times stepped up from the 2G, to a 8G, currently patriot class10 16G) but never had any problems with any external_sdcard staying in place.
take that bad boy apart!! its just some phillips screws i imagine its just a spring issue. I was gonna do the "hardware GPS fix" tonight so i'll take a look at the setup while im in there if there isn't a fix posted by then.

namadrider123 is correct it sounds like a easy phone replacement from tmobile that should be the #1 fix option for this problem (or any hardware problem for that matter) always attempt to get hardware defects replaced under warranty before you go messing with stuff yourself (good rule of thumb!)
It holds it sometimes but the little click thing isn't holding it. For now it is but if I take it out it will be hard to push it back in.

It was suggested you take it in to get it looked at, might need to be replaced. Or just fixed
We're comin from a pure power source.
Alright then thanks anyway

Here's the deal:
My at&t SGS2 cannot read my microsd (transcend 16gb)....and i haven't backed up (I was too lazy...)
This morning i noticed a strange notification regarding my microsd....something about it being UNMOUNTED......but since i was sleepy, i ignored it
Over the course of the day, i noticed less no. of songs and pictures being displayed, so i remembered this morning's msg and when i opened my battery case, i noticed it had bulged out, so i inserted it back in and then restarted but alas!, my phone could'nt read it......tried restarting 3-4 times each time removing the sd and inserting again, but from then onwards my phone hasnt been able to read my microsd......
I connected my phone to the pc via usb mass storage, but it showed only 1 drive(instead of the usual 2 drives...[1 belonging to the microsd of course]).....the thing is that even the pc doesnt read it.......SO MY QUESTION ARISES HERE:::Can i somehow get back my precious data???...it doesnt matter whether i can use my microsd or not....i just want back my DATA......Please Help if you can!!!! A lot of thanks!!!!!!!!!
You will want to plug the sd card into your pc. You might need to get an adapter. If your data shows up, make a backup right away. If it doesn't, try any number of undelete programs. Piriform makes one I like to use.
Your SD card could be shot and there may be no way to get any of the data.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but can u please tell me more about this "piriform", which you mentioned???
SD cards can go bad just like any other storage medium.

Insert sd into computer. Run program. Select drive letter of sd card. Hit go, start, or whatever the button is.
If you need more help than that read the help menu on the program.

Well, i tried the method you gave, but whenever i choose to scan, it gives an error saying that-"FAILED TO SCAN THE FOLLOWING DRIVES: E: THE DEVICE IS NOT READY"-......maybe this is bcoz my pc could not detect the sd in the first place.........yet....thanks 4 ur help....IF u know any thing else please reply.......THANKS again...!!!!
If your computer can't read the card, it is most likely toast.

This happens when is about to die. My oem card died like that. Bought a Sammy and np.
Let me guess...its sandisk?

Mine does this to with a 32GB sandisk :/
I did buy a 32GB Samsung card but that died more or less straight away D;
so atm im still using the sandisk even though it likes to tell me its inserted/damaged/empty
Annoying!
The only thing i can suggest is to buy a samsung memory card from a trusted dealer
(mine was from ebay and most probably why it died)
but before it did, it worked fine in the note 2 gave me no pain

I had the exact problem with my sandisk 32GB ultra, but i got it swapped out and the new one works flawlessly. Think they had a bad batch (had to wait for a new shipment until i could swap my card)
I contacted SanDisk through the website.
They will rma my card who had the same problem.
Expecting my replacement next week.

same problem with pny 32 g
had the same problem for a while then my card suddenly died . apparently the reader on a lot of Samsung phones easily kill sd cards so be sure to back up very often

just got my second RMA card. Hope this time is will work fine.
I have a PNY 32gb sdcard that's been working perfectly since I picked up the S4 in May. This morning there was a message on my phone saying there isn't an sdcard detected. I've tried popping it in and out several times, rebooting, etc. None of that helped. It's not even visible in recovery. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm stumped.
Sometimes sd cards go bad without warning. It's best to keep your important things backed up on your computer. Sounds to me like you need a new card.

Yeah, I guess the obvious next troubleshooting step here is trying a different sdcard (which I don't have now). Just wanted to see if there was a known issue slash easy solution that was out there already.
You can try your sd card in your computer before trashing it. You might be able to get it to work long enough to retrieve your saved files.

Hello
I keep getting this error on my phone after trying to wake it up from stand by "micro sd card removed unexpectedly"
I tried formatting it, and still same problem. I made sure that it's in it's place perfectly, same problem.
I'm not using a cheap sd card, its a SANDISK ULTRA HC card, 32 gig!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks
No, but I had this problem on a past phone. Mine required replacement. ..the SD card.

Ya I had that same issue with that same card with my galaxy s3. I replaced the card with one specifically designed for Smart phones and the problem went away

I think it may be a card issue as if I remember correctly in some of the threads in the ATT S4 General forum a lot of people have issues with the sandisk cards.

I think it has something to do with Samsung as I have that exact card and never had issues with it in an HTC my touch phone my stepdaughter was using at the time, however I did with my s3 and N2...
