[Q] GT-s5830i Galaxy Ace SD swap - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
ive looking for, but I don`t find anything, how to swap the SD card of a Galaxy Ace!
i have an idea, but I don`t know if it is right, or if it can be done so!
This is my idea:
one of my colleague has a build.prop, where you can swap the sd card with the internal storage! Can I copy the part which contains the swap frase and past it in my file? (he has a galaxy w witch cm 10.1 and I galaxy ace witch jelly blast v3.0.3)?
big Thx BottleLid
sorry, my english is not very good

Do u have GT-S5830i/M/C/39i or just GT-S5830?

Also, back up your IMEI number (let's you make texts and all) with galaxy toolbox because you can lose it following the guide, backup whatever is on your SD card on a computer because you will have to format your SD card during the process and backup app data using Titanium Backup!

Well during the process you have to make a swap partition of your SD card, and then there is a Cronmod script that you have to flash that will convert the swap into internal memory! Just follow the guide!!

Well, you are using Jelly Blast witch is based on stock rom, so download the file for stock rom and follow the part of the guide that says you already have your rom. That's what I did and it worked :beer:

I don't know what to do with CM, if you were on a stock based from then the guide would work for you. Sorry Can't help with increasing your internal memory. Another thing you can do is just partition your SD card and use link2SD from the playstore to link and move stuff to your SD (apart from system applications) to save up as much memory as possible. I think you need to restore firmware via ODIN and if you made a backup using CWM then you can easily revert back after that.

If you want to use Link2SD to increase memory, then use step 1 to 14 in Partition SD Card and you are good to go. If you want to use CronMod to increase the internal memory, then use step 1 to 6 from Partition SD Card followed by step 2 & 3 in Alternative mod and finish it off with format> /sd-ext (all this considering you are using a custom rom). All this is based on the following guide as reference,

Hope I Helped

Well, it is not a first time i install something like these and i did some modding myself too, but, here is what i did;
- Install via cwm (no wipe done) --: it stuck at bootanimation and after a while, it restarted. At first, i just leave it, and what happened is just the same. So,
- I copy over files from your zip (all except that .db file which is leftover from your pc i suppose) to /system/, set the permission to all files, then copy to correct folder (framework.jar, android.policy.jar etc to /system/framework/ and systemUI and whatnot to /system/app/ ) man,cant believe i type it all, im very sure it has nothing to do with how i install it. Sorry if you feels offended, but its pretty damn straight forward, install from cwm. I use manual method just to be sure. And it stuck at bootanimation. No matter how i install it.

Not 100% sure, but if you are rooted, do you have a backup from before the update was downloaded?
If so, just restore that and you should be OK.
if not, then someone else needs to HELP not complain, this is a legitmate question.
ps, always i recomend link2sd.....see the app on the market and follow the instructions, all apps (including widgets) can be stored there so no more issue with internal memory

Why not backup your apps factory reset then restore, that will get the space back I couldn't find the file when this happened to me either, but when i clicked to install it downloaded again so it may not be on the phone and your just low on space in which case link2sd is the better option, although if your on pure stock you could root and use systemcleanup that can recover a fair bit of space

Why don't you just update your phone to .62 firmware? Don't worry you'll not loose your ROOT, any application or personal data

[MOD][JB/ICS]Increase internal memory without loosing performance[now in every rom!!]

Hey guys!
I try this internal memory increase mod and it work my Sony Live With Walkman WT19i CM9.1. This mod posted on XDA Xperia Arc Android Development sub forum. This is only a sharing, I'm not the person who developed this Mod. Developed by "XtremeSilencer"
Installation instructions
1. create a ext partition [ any ext2/3/4 ]
2. put this mod in your sd card
3. Make nandroid backup. (backup and restore>backup)
4. Flash the zip (install zip from sd>choose zip from sd card)
5. after flashing...wipe data/factory reset
6. reboot and enjoy
Download:- http://www.mediafire.com/?y7rblybs7474yyp
I think this mod performances depend on the SD card class. If this work hit the thanks button.
Note! After phone boot up, first few minutes phone slow. After that it OK.

Done succcesfully in CM10. Thank u OP for referring us to the great mod
Don't you think that link2sd is better?
It allows you to choose which apps should be stored in phone and which should be moved to sdcard. That really matters because sd-cards are limited in write-read cycles, so moving all apps to sd is not the best idea.
And link2sd is way too simple:
1. Make 2nd partition
2. Install and run link2sd
3. Reboot
4. Move what you want to move

Dead Link...
Can you please add new link, this one id dead.
I want to give it a try, Link2SD is no a solution because the apps still waste internal memory as well...
Thanks

Link2SD wastes the internal memory too. If you have a lot of apps you'll see your memory disappear too
Broken link to download can fix please? Thank you :good:
Here's a link to the original thread, however be warned that the author has been banned (don't know why) and it seems that the script is pretty buggy. I haven't tried it myself but it would be great if theres anything similar that's working.

Update 16/08/14 [JB]Custom bootanimations for S Advance

HI there, I give to you a custom bootanimation for S Advance. At the time of making this thread, there were no kernels support it but there is an app that will make it possible. You can also install a cocafe kernel now that supports custom bootanimation.zips
Here is the thread
Bootanimation4u thanks to XDA developer smokin133. A
And thanks to Abhinandh Ajay for finding this app for without it I wouldn't be able to share the bootanimation
Install that first from recovery and reboot then copy the bootanimation.zip (see attached) to your system/media with your favorite explorer that access the root partition. This isn't a flashable zip.
Here are a couple screenshots of the animation:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As always I am not responsible for any damage to phone by doing this. Always have a Nandroid backup saved.

Updates Here are a couple of flashable zips with a better version of the bootanimation imho. They both are in qmg format. Probably only will work in stock firmware but if anyone tries it in CM or KitKat roms report if it works or not. I installed it with TWRP but should install with CWM. Just make sure to mount system before installing. As always you want to back up your originals in case you want to go back to them.

Here is a flashable zip that says Galaxy SII Lite instead. Also qmg format.

hope you like

simple steps for installing custom bootanimation
Hi guys i have a simple steps for those who wanna install a custom bootanimation on their samsung s advance phone...
(Your device must be rooted)
1st, i suggest that you must use or have the ROM TOOLBOX apps.
2nd, download the bootanimation that you wanna use, choose that compatible with your device, in this case, SGSA.
3rd, open the ROM TOOLBOX apps, go to iINTERFACE tab, look for BOOT ANIMATIONS and tab it.
4th, after that, it will bring your root file and search for ROMTOOLBOX, tab it, search for boot_animations, tab it, choose your disire bootanimation, install and reboot.
Opsss, i almost for got, if you download it to your device, copy the file to roomtoolbox(in your /sdcard > boot_animations > paste
Your're done ! :laugh:
IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO YOUR DEVICE, I WILL NOT RESPONSIBLE TO IT, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!! THE STEPS ABOVE WORKS FOR MY DEVICE AND I'M NOT GUARANTEED IT WILL WORK FOR YOUR DEVICE TOO
I will upload some images for easy step by step tutorial

you must have in bootanimation.zip your original samsung boot animation.... see in the first post thread link i think it contains..
you can also download it with that root boot animation app....:good:
Whats the use of the app? Can't I just open bootanimation.zip and put all the files in the corresponding folder??
I'm asking this because I want to add this "feature" to my ROM

not the bootanimation.zip. maybe the bootanimation4u tho. there are two files that go to system/bin. if it works make sure to give credit to the developer of that please.

You can increase you internal by moving all apps (On SD or On Internal Memory) to the second partition on SD card which should be ext2.. And yes "Link2SD" is working very well with me on ICS.. You don't need to unlock your bootloader for such an action.. Use ext2.. X-Parts and recovery is not related to anything of what you will do so don't worry.. I believe that Link2SD is a very good tool.. Use it
I wish I helped you
