Hey
Have been drawn towards MiniCMSandwich for my Xperia Mini Pro as would love features of ICS on my phone
However, was thinking of all ROMS and thought maybe there was a better ROM for me? Of course, one of the most popular in CM7 but would it work for me? I want ideally the menu etc of ICS as well of the reported speed of it but which ROM will give me that?
Secondly wanted to ask about Flashing. On the Wotanserver website I have seen I can flash to 4.0.2........ but what problems would that have? Or would it be better than the MiniCM ROM?
Or should I just wait until SE release the official update in 2 months?
Thanks
Your phone already has 4.0.2.A.0.xx update. Just check in Settings-About Phone. WotanServer offers stock firmware and kernel for all 2011 Xperia phones(and lots others). You can use it to restore your phone to fully stock system if you need it, like when ICS comes out, then you need to have fully stock.
Hybrom is currently stock-based and stable with lots of customization.
Most other custom ROMs(MiniCM, CM7, CM9 etc) have quite lots of bugs, but you need to read the ROM's topic to find these out.
I have Live with Walkman myself, so I am not aware for another phones.
You can try out different ROMs, install one, try for some time, if you don't like it, install another one etc.
Custom ROMs will require custom kernel also(some of these include self, some don't) and unlocked bootloader(if you do that, stay away from OTA updates, else you will brick your phone). Don't forget these
If you decide to stay on stock ROM, get it rooted(you can read my tutorial, if you need help with it) and get rid of some unneeded system apps. Also, then you can yourself customize it as much as you want.

Thank you for that. When you say my phone has the 4.0.2 update available does that mean I can get all the features of ICS? So the menu/home screen etc?
In your opinion, would you say that you should go for a Custom MiniCMSandwich, or then wait until June and get the official 4.0 update from SE?
Or am I misunerstanding and is ICS with all features already available for my XMP?
Thanks

No, it is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but 4.0.2.A.0.xx is a version number for Gingerbread update. ICS is not released yet.
I haven't tested MiniCMSandwich myself, haven't had time nor interest. Also, I have a Live with Walkman, which means some parts are not working on this ROM at the moment(from what I have read).
I use a MIUI ROM(link in my signature, click the ROM name), but this version is only for Live with Walkman. At least it works fine for me, only some small bugs that are not a problem for me.

Hmmmmm... Not sure now whether to stick with 2.3 for now then go for the proper ICS update later in June or get ICS now with a few little bugs.
The MIUI ROM for XMP has quite a few problems such as data not working so don't think that is an option for me
Any other ICS ROMS or is that it?
Thanks

MIUI is ICS based, even though it's visual part and some other stuff are completely different.
for gingerbread i would definitely recommend Hybrom v16, completely stable, lighting fast, really good package.
for ICS: MiniCMsandwich by Kamarush, works really well, not as stable as Hybrom, but for ICS very acceptable.
any custom rom is better than stock, the least would be a rooted stock to get rid of all the bloatware, that really helps with speed AND battery.

I obviously know how to root, but after rooting how do I get rid of the bloatware? Is there a thread made or a website I can you use that explains it?

Maybe this would help.
List of safe-to-remove apps
I had stock till 4 days back. I Unlocked bootloader and first rom i tried was MiniCMSandwhich and then others one by one and finally came back to MiniCM.
Have some gyro sensor problems(cannot play games) but have not experienced other bugs. It is highly stable ICS rom for XM.
I recommend you to try it.

I dont think so....... just the inbuilt apps differ region wise i guess and nothing else.......
and this is the first time I heard something like this.......
ohh i see... so what i've read is only a bluff that stock russia ics is better.
thanks for clearing it.
I am using the latest Pacman kitkat nightly and i am very satisfied with it.
I read the official KK rom is laggy. Is that true.
Any reasons for switching back to the original Rom?

mhl to hdmi does not work on custom roms (at least seems so..)
i'm planning to test a stock rom, maybe 4.3 since i can't find 4.4 for sgp311 and i can't update via pc companion since i unlocked bootloader.
apart from mhl issue i think ppls are very happy with custom roms so not many reasons to go back to stock.
Not finding much lag here, but YMMV. If you're happy with pacman stick with it. But, if you flash anyways you can always give stock 4.4.2 a try!

Hey guys, so I've been having issues getting a GPS lock since I flashed an AOSP ROM last week. One recommendation made to me is that I flash back to a TW ROM, get a GPS lock, and retry the AOSP GPE ROM I have come to love (pure vanilla android wins in my book). The options available with TW ROMs vary a lot, so I'm a bit afraid to flash the wrong one. I'm still on MDK firmware, and would prefer to leave it that way as it's about as unlocked as the GS4 gets. Would flashing a TW ROM necessitate that I find one that is explicitly MDK to avoid a firmware upgrade, or will a ROM not touch my firmware version like an OTA would? Sorry if I am asking a dumb question, but I'd appreciate the help!

Hi everybody
Ive had my Z2 for like 5 months now im on loli5.1.1 stock unrooted (.1.232 firmware)
I have loads of apps i guess alot of em running in the back by themselves and im always on STAMINA but i get like 1 day and a half with 100% charge with medium usage (no HD gaming 2hr 3g data and like 3hr wifi and 2~3 hrs watching non-hd movies and 2hrs of music on 2days usage) and i would have to charge like everyday and my brightness is most of the time at the lowest possible
so as you can see im not getting as good battery as i expect of 3200mAh
i decided to try some custom android and see if i get better results
i saw alot of roms but alot of them are [D6503] and there are no notes for d6502 users , WHAT IS THE DEAL HERE ? the only difference is LTE
is there like a general zip file or baseband that you can flash for all [D6503] roms or they just dont support ?
and please tell me that my battery situation is normal if not what is wrong with it ?

how about non-cm based roms ?
the difference is just LTE isnt it possible to just remove it from that rom or replace it with another configuration from stock rom ?
Using the minimal information you have provided 2 hours of 3g and 3 hours of WiFi and 2 hours of Movies = 7 hours of screen on time. That's pretty good.
How about you provide some battery stat information so people aren't guessing?

Baseband of D6502 and D6503 are different. There are no other differences. So, if you flash any rom, you have to flash D6502 patch (baseband). It will replace D6503 baseband from ur phone and set D6502 baseband. All rom makers provide it with their rom. It's not even a problem. Just flash it after installing rom.

Download this patch and flash it. It will work for latest 5.1.1 fw (both 232 and 264 build) and you can use it with any stock based rom.
