Viper4Android help? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I've tried to install Viper 4 Android on my note 3 several times trying everything in the instructions and troubleshooting.
Has anyone been able to install it successfully? What steps did you take? Did it work on the phone generally or just the music player?

Good question. I too need the speaker to be at a higher volume.

I have it installed on my Note 3 and it does not work with the stock music player. It works with Power Amp well though. You need to disable the EQ and processors on PowerAmp. Using earbuds or headphones I cant get the volume past half way it's so loud.

If your just looking for higher volumes. There's a mod in the Verizon note3 forum that boosts sounds quite a bit. (Medium seems the best the super loud version seems a bit overkill) that works for our phones.

How did you edit the build.prop? Every time I try too I can't save the changes and am to its a read only file.

[MOD] ACiD Audio Engine

Hi guys I wanted to share what I found to be working on my Sprint Optimus G.
I've been using this audio engine and the results have been pretty great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002367
Use the universal installation in aroma and remember if you install walkman don't install any add-ons.
I personally skip the walkman installation and use the noozy add-on.
Please do a nandroid backup before trying and do not install on top of nocturnal's music mod until someone verifies it does not cause any issues.
Remember not to use music player equalizer as the installed app changes sound system wide.
Also don't forget on first boot let device settle and then reboot.
BTW this has worked on my epic 4g, gs3, touchpad, asus transformer and evo 3d with just about the same results: amazing control over sound with great clarity and bass.
I haven't tested on a att version so don't know if it works with no issues as on my sprint version but, wanted to put it out there for your guys as well since I've also been reading these threads from the beginning.
Thanks for viewing.
Backing up right now then I'm going to flash the Universal and then the Noozxoide addon just like you recommended! Will post back and let you know how things go Thanks for the link man.
Why make a separate thread...?
I find Noozoxide to be the best of the sound mods the recent updates only made it better

Alright so I backed up and flashed, they work and sound absolutely fantastic. Thanks a lot for the post once again.
That is awesome to hear..... I've definitely been enjoying the sound difference

Nothing beats Voodoo on the Nexus S or Galaxy S because the Galaxy S and Nexus S use a very good audio chip.
so, I've noticed that when using teh Nooz player, if i lock my screen, the music will play to the end of the track, but won't move forward to the next track unless I power on my phone. . . anyone else notice this?
Didn't work on mine
Did the ACID installation along with the Walkman (like they suggested). Followed all the instructions. It gave me the ACID app, the Albums app, the Dolby Mobile app, and the Walkman app. However...
-I didn't get any service for some reason. Just a red X by my bars while I was using it.
-I get force closes every time I go into the Walkman app to mess with the sound enhancements. Literally doesn't let me do anything.
-My music doesn't play...AT ALL. On ANY music player
I followed the directions for version 6.1 perfectly too. Sucks because I just went to Slick Rom and got rid of Nocturnal (and their Sony enhancement app) so I wanted to bring some good sound quality back to the Slick Rom. Oh well...

Don't do the 7.0 preview, either. Headphones won't work and you magically lose the ability to play mp3's.

The speaker can't take the load, hence distortion. Lower the load by decreasing yhe volume. You possibly can lower just the bass but this isn't how the music was intended to be heard do it raises questions about the point

hmm. the "Enable Bass" is turned off the speaker still distorts on my cm rom. when I use touchwiz rom/stockbased custom roms, even though I max out the volume the speaker, the sound doesn't distorts. hmm I think I should go back to the stockbased custom rom.
There's a graphic eq there too. To fine tune specific frequencies.

FM Radio Help.

Has anyone been able to get the FM radio to work on anything other than the stock setup? I have flashed K3, Sacs, and Xnote and have not been able to figure out how to get use of the FM radio back. I restored my nandroid backup to stock and the FM works again. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't flashed every rom you mentioned, so I can't say with 100% certainty, but it's probably due to a mod in those custom roms, to increase sound volume. The increased volume hack, breaks the FM radio.

I'm guessing you don't use the volume m mod if you want a radio. The loudness and audio quality from viper4android doesn't need an extra kick. It's already got it. Anything on top of it is just distortion.

The problem that I have found is that most roms already have the volume boost mod baked in causing FM not to work. I was able to get FM working again by taking the revert back to stock from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470890 and replacing the \system\crc with the \system\crc from the stock image. So far it has worked with K3 and Xnote roms with the beastmode kernel. So now my FM works!

The first thing you need to do is flash the file listed below to return to stock volume.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23156208500212156
Info on this is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470890
Flash file from recovery. Then use a browser with root (I use root browser) and navigate to your \system\csc folder and delete or rename. Replace with the csc in this zip (this is the csc from stock image). https://mega.co.nz/#!D8YEia7I!eHjNNgn5PXlWVgLzrAl2vmcqpjWVLTn1I8e-7vzKpCA
After you replace the csc folder make sure that permissions are correct on all files and folders under the csc folder. If permissions are not correct this will not work.
All folders must have rwxr-xr-x (0755) and all files must have rw-r-r-- (0644).
So far this method has worked to enable the FM radio for me on K3, SACS, and Xnote roms. Should work on any rom that has the volume mod baked in that causes FM to stop working. If you want increased volume I recommend Viper4Android instead of the volume mods.
I can not for the life of me figure this out. I went back to unrooted stock official NAB, and still no FM radio. I click the play button to turn on the FM receiver in NextRadio and the circle spins for a while then just cuts back to the play button without actually starting the tuner. Everything was wiped and /data was even formatted fresh.

Did you do what I listed above? First flash the return to stock volume then replace your csc with the one linked. Make sure your permissions on each file and folder is correct or it will not work.
Not sure why going back to stock wouldn't work.

Speaker Volume Boost for KitKat 4.4.2

So one of the biggest disappointments I've had with just about all my Samsung Galaxy devices has been the volume output from the external speaker - especially when watching movies.
So, as someone else asked about this in one of the ROM forums, I thought I would share my little tweak with the rest of you, and show how to do it yourself so you can play around with all sorts of volume tweaks.
As is the case with most things, be careful making changes to system files - I am not responsible if somehow you change a setting that results in the annihilation of the entire human race! (but really ... the worst that'll happen is it won't change anything, or you'll crash on boot ... so back everything up, and nandroid)
Process:
1) Download and extract either the moderate, or extreme file uploaded to this post.
2) Using your file explorer of choice, navigate to system/etc/snd_soc_msm
3) Back up the file titled snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm (i just add a .bak to the end of it, but moving it to another location works too)
4) Copy/move the downloaded snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file into the system/etc/snd_soc_msm directory.
5) Set the permissions to rw-r-r (errors and crashes if you don't)
5) Hot-boot or re-boot your phone, and boom ... the speaker is quite a bit louder.
This only "boosts" the external speaker, not the headset speaker, or bluetooth, or the headphone lineout.
Alternatively, if you'd like to know how to do this for future reference, I'll teach you! (because tinkering around is how we all learn in the first place, right?)
1) Open the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file in Notepad++ and search for "speaker" ... you're looking for the line that says "Comment "Speaker Rx device" "
2) Below that you'll see several values under "EnableSequence" ... you want to edit the "RX5 Digital Volume"
3) Change the default value from 66.9% to something like 75% (I used 72.9 for the moderate and 77.9 for the extreme)
Save the file, copy it over, and there you go.
I would caution against going much higher than 77.9% ... you could do some serious damage to the speaker if you go too high...you've been warned!
You can also play around with some of the other "digital volume" values under the other headers .. such as "headset device", etc.
Good luck folks - enjoy turning your amps up to 11!
This worked great! Thank you so much! Extreme distorts it a bit if put all the way up. I know this was bound to happen when tweaking the volume. so im about to try moderate also. But it definitely works.
Edit: Moderate is just right. Noticeably louder! But not that extreme for distortion to be caused. Thank you!

+1 on this working everytime i update my rom this is one of the first things i do and it works very well.
Glad it's working. I definitely hear you (pun intended?) about the distortion thing, but that's unavoidable. I personally only use the "moderate" boost - I'm not that deaf..yet.
You can definitely mess around and increase the volume of the line-out (headphones), and the call speaker .. if anyone wants those, let me know and i'll upload them.

You're 100% correct on all of this. I highly recommend doing all edits like this on your computer. You certainly can do them on your device, but it's safer and easier to do them on your computer.
Plus...you'll learn a lot more when you can spread those files out and really dig in.
So i'm still working on it...just wanted to let you guys know I haven't forgotten. I've tried lots of different things and haven't had any luck yet. It's possible there's some sort of hard-coded limiter to how loud you can make the headphone jack go, but we'll see if I can't work it out. Give me the next 24 hours to keep plugging away.
Plus, gives me a good chance to listen to a lot Gogol Bordello while I tweak sound settings

New Sound Mod Perfected. Stereo and High Impedance

Pay me back using my PayPal.Me link: https://www.paypal.me/rootlinux
NEW FLASHABLE ZIP FOR ALL ROMS AT BOTTOM OF POST. Stereo speakers with no forced High Impedance.
If you want to support a broke dad of four kids any donations are appreciated.
I am also planning on building ROMs for the V20 since most devs have dropped out.
I am also almost finished with my complete social app.
Any donations will get you my social app for free.
It will be on the Play Store soon. However if you donate PM me with your donation info and I will send you a copy for free.
Mirror to all files at bottom of post.
Credits first off to my friend Freeza for which this mod was based off of. He gave me the go ahead to use and moddify any way I like.
This is the result.
I understand there are many files here but I like options.
Trying to support as many V20 variants as we have.
This is tested and works flawlessly on my Sprint LS997. This should work for all variants but this is made from latest firmware updates ZV7.
This is something I have been working on for a few days and have now got it Perfected.
I bring you Stereo sound via Front and Bottom firing speakers. Lowered volume to help protect your expensive device.
I bring you Quad Dac high impedance mode when HiFi is enabled.
Enjoy the full audiophile experience.
Hit like if this helped you out.
Unzip the file. Place it in root of internal storage in folder System/etc. Set permissions, turn device off then power back on.
That is all.
After setting my device up again I am pretty sure I found the problems some had as I had them that time.
Found and fixed the problems. Hifi really FORCED with Stereo.
rootlinux stereo high impedance FIXED
All files moved to the bottom of this post. Link contains all zip files.
Louder FIXED
Volumes bumped up but still below dangerous levels.
Louder MAX version 1
Louder MAX version 2. Master volumes turned up
More pronounced stereo effect FIXED
Louder front speaker to blend sound levels for a more emersive feeling.
High Impedance Bottom speaker ONLY loud without stereo effect.
Restore to default settings.
Edit...
OLDER
If you are on older firmware, try this file.
It doesn't work on my updated firmware as it is based on my friend Freeza's older firmware update and modded further by me.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/596b8baba4348/mixer_paths_tasha.xml.zip
Louder Test Mod based on Freeza's mod.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/597141478a03c/Old_Mod_Enhanched_Stereo.zip
More pronounced stereo sound. Louder front speaker ( still well under max volume ) to get a better sound experience.

You set permissions and then rebooted? I will download and make sure I uploaded the correct file as it took many tries to get it all working.

Ok I'm having same issues the top speaker not working the bottom speaker I can't say because it's blown

Just checked, the file is correct. Cover your bottom speaker and then put your ear to the top. You will then hear it. What is happening is in stereo the sound appears to be coming from the center of the device. I can raise the volumes and release a safety warning for it. Not a problem. The top speaker can not typically handle the same volume as the bottom. That is why I equaled them out.

Yes I can confirm that as well but when I plug in headset there is no sound. Seems that rendering is choppy also, all this while listening to YouTube. I renamed the original file to bak thank God. Deleted yours and renamed original again to the norm and works again.

I used mine one HiFi all night long. No reason it shouldn't work for you.
I will post a restore file in OP as well.
I am on the Sprint Variant so that may make a difference.

the mod works when I turn on hifi dac when my headphones are in. Just don't get sound through top speaker when unplugged

That's probably what it is. I'm on TMobile. I guess it's a no go for us. Darn! Thank you though.

That doesn't make any since being that you are also on Sprint correct?
This was made using latest firmware updates. If it doesn't work see if your device is up to date.
