Hi,
just got Themer, and I really like it!
But, I can't get Page Buddy to work (Samsung Galaxy Note 2).
Could it be because Page Buddy is a Samsung-only thing?
Thanks for any help!

Are you trying to use Page Buddy withing Themer?
Yep, I had my Samsung setup so that Page buddy opened the S-pen page (when I took out the pen).
That does not work after using Themer launcher.
No big deal, but I was just curious if there was a work-around....
Galaxy Note 2 > 3
I am furious that samsung took away page buddy and esp. did not leave any alternative or better feature on it.
I hardly think note 3 is better phone; only the dimension & maybe the Full HD screen will the selling point FOR me.
Samsung tried widgets on s4 and failed, I don't know what magazine's all about.
Anyways,
Here's why and how note 2 is better(this is all customed to my usability and the level of descent use Note features) :
S-PEN
1. S-Pen button and doube-tap on screen launching quick s-memo. yes, it's not good as action note BUT i think the most would use really note more than jogging down e-mails & phone numbers, if anything they should have included such feature or option on quick s-memo function. The biggest upside is quick s-note is treated just like any other s-memo.
2. Pulling S-Pen reacts as your 4th-hardware key/switch. Meaning, you can arrange app icons & widget or if any, you want to hide away can be launch pull(without detaching S-pen) and tap an app can be your quick launch. I have direct call, small s-memo widget, google translater, and starbucks, alarm(3rd party - "Timely"-because you don't need look/search for regular Time app, if you pull notification bar down and tap clock on left top corner re-direct you to clock). Try using optimizing page buddy as Quick dial or Favorite Contact.
Earphone PLUG
1. Music widget
2. Movie & Youtube widget & etc.
recommended shortcuts always changes why not have your own secret happy(?) place to go when you plug your earphone or detach your s-pen.
*Apple DO NOT take away feature that doesn't work right away(only based on my guesstimation). Nor put any prematurely developed or tested app. I just think Page Buddy feature has a great potential.

I've been playing with my friends android's and i've noticed that the atrix lags:
1) Pinch zoom on the home screen to select to which HS page i wanna go. Instead, we have to press the home button while on the center of the home screen to be able to select the HS page. (not sure if i made myself clear enough)
2) We are stuck in 7 pages! personally, I don't use all 7 pages and I don't like those extra empty pages taking up my ram (even if it's not taking up a considerable amount of ram, it still bugs me when others can just have 3 HS if they wanted to)
3) On the notification drop down list, others have the Power Control buttons to turn on/off wifi and that kinda functions. I know there are apps that add a shortcut bar on the notification screen, but it's not Power Control.
so my question is, Anyone know a way to overcome these issues listed? i can try flashing if necesary.

I know that Launcher Pro has this functionality, not sure about other launcher apps.

There are a few launcher apps that you may want to look at. The 2 popular ones are "Launcher Pro" and "Go". I think both of them can be configured for the number of pages you want.

Motorola included a few widgets that can toggle some of this functionality, but in the stock Atrix builds this is not available from the notification bar.
All that said and if you are a brave soul, you may want to check out some of the custom ROMs available for the Atrix over in the developer forum. The ROMs are generally much alike and free the Atrix from both Motorola and your carrier. The ROMs differ in there themes and minor features.
Hope this helps you and your friend get the most out of the Atrix.
I would check out ADWLauncher, most of these things can be customized.

i find launcher pro works the best for me. should definitely try that out.
Yeah, I've been thinking about Launchers, but I've tried launcher pro and I feel like it's taking even more ram. Because it's a launcher that is running on top of our stock HS, am I wrong?
I currently have Alien ROM on my device with the stock theme, because I cannot live without the one touch call/sms contact widget and also the ability to group apps on the app drawer. Tried the Alien theme and liked it, except for the mentioned "flaws"
Kill the blur launcher and use home switcher to set one by default. No more launcher running on top of another.

Oh! that's a nice one. thanks!
BTW, i just found by accident that if you swype upwards from below the screen, you get the HS selection. (just like the pinch zoom)

On mine with Launcher Pro I use two fingers to pinch, then keep one finger on the screen sliding it to which HS page I want to pick. I just figured this out based on what you were asking about. It is always fun to find some new feature like this that I didn't know existed before. With the stock home launcher from MotoBlur there is a capability to do it, but I long since forgot what that procedure was when I changed to Launcher Pro. LP has all the customizations you are asking for.

I love the idea of mini-apps, IMO its a big step forward into true multi tasking
...Is there a place to download more mini-apps?
...Are there any roms out that have modified/added to the mini-apps?
It would be really nice to have a choice, I would personally like to see a mini-browser added.

what exactly do you mean by "mini-apps"? widgets?
I think he talks about the addition in touchwiz for the galaxy tab 10.1. But AFAIK it is not possible to change them currently.

Ya I'm talking about the little apps you can pull up that were added in the touchwiz update
If only it was possible to change those - so far only calculator and calendar are any use (and task manager but quicker to hold the home icon). When I showed an ipad fan he was very impressed by them but right away wanted to know if you can change them. Mini browser would probably be asking too much but the notes could be useful if the implementation was more intuitive. Quick email program would be good too.

sorry, but i cannot get the point (really)
what's the difference between a "mini-app" and an app?
Mini apps are supplied with the Touchwiz software and are accessible from the Taskbar.
i dont see why it would be hard for a developer to change these
...there has to be a way

thanks for the video
so the only difference between a "mini-app" and a "normal app" is, that the mini-app is in the taskbar.
(so every app could be transformed into a mini-app if you just could pin it to the taskbar???)
'If' .... that's the thing, I don't think it's possible yet.

I planned on working on trying to develop new mini-apps, but then my Tab epic failed and I'm waiting for a new one from Samsung Not sure if it can be done, but we shall see.
Good luck with that, keep us informed!

No, the "mini-apps" are just that... Mini apps that pop up on top of what ever app your running at the time. Their not really the full app and you can move them around the screen to place them where you want them. Their more like widgets, just widgets that can be moved around easily.
Say your checking your email and you need to check some figures. You can pull up the mini bar, tap the calculator icon to bring up a small version of it. Then you can move it to one side or the other so you can see the numbers you need to check. "See the screen shot"
And all of the mini apps but the calculator and task manager, if you tap the arrow in the top left had corner will take you to the full app.
It would be nice to have the option to change the apps in the quick launch bar... but they wouldn't really work like the mini apps. The program developers would have to include the mini app like they do with apps that have widgets to use along with the apps.

now i've got it! thanks.
sounds really cool. it's clear that not every app can be a mini-app, but it'll be great if you can develop own mini-apps.
Yes you can change the apps and please stop calling them "mini" as they are each full blown apps.
Samsung is releasing the API to add apps into the launch tray.

Can change the apps? Please tell us how we can change then now, or do you actually mean that we'll be able to change them eventually, not now?
Edit: 'mini apps is fine by me.
Not sure when Samsung will update touchwiz to change the mini apps on the taskbar.
In the meantime you can try this new app if you like, but they are not mini apps to run in a multitasking way though.

So,
Little bit of a rant. But seems Samsung chose to remove the Lock Screen widgets feature. I just spoke to someone on live chat about this, they claim Android as of KITKAT 4.4.2, no longer has this feature. Bull sh!t.
Now, I saw the lock screen was ported to Galaxy S4 and in that port there also is no lock screen widgets.
I am requesting help of ALL OF US developers for the S5 and the like to come together and see if we can figure out how/where they disabled this. I also am thinking of just porting the Galaxy S4 lock screen to our phone. However, this would most likely break the finger print scanner.
What i would personally like, is modifing smali code to enable them again on the current lock screen. The main parts of the lockscreen are found in /system/priv-app/Keyguard.apk. I am personally working on this. There HAS to be a way to enable it.
To start, i'm simply comparing different aspects of the lock screen with the Galaxy S4 lock screen. Hopefully this will lead to the idiotic changes made by Samsung.
Please, if anybody has any input, please post!! This, to me, is the only let down of the S5. I really want this working. While I can make an app to "mimic" the lockscreen widgets, i really want native support. And im sure others do as well
Thanks guys for reading!
It seems that they also disabled "settings shortcuts" also. On my Note 3 a screen press brings up the widgets screen where you can add shortcuts (I find Battery to be very useful) - I can't do this on my S5?
What the hell are these Samsung idiots thinking?

Update: I have the galaxy s4 lockscreen somewhat working now! :d
Hi there
Some days ago I have sadly changed my HTC One M9 Plus after 3 and half years of service, the last of a 10 years experience with HTC from the HD2...what a sad situation about the brand.
Anyway I have bought a Samsung S9 Plus which seems not bad at all but I have some questions about it:
1) I have seen that is it possible to change the resoution of the screen, currently I'm on 2220*1080 but I could go for 2960*1440, anyway some widget already have small text, I have tried the upper resolution and a lot of things (icons etc) doesn't seems define enough to support it. What do you suggest?
2) I miss some HTC hystorc widget like the weather flip-clock and the contact widget for making quick call, do you know if there is a chance to install them on the samsung?
3) Is that possible to change the disposition of the system lower key (home, back and multitasking) ?
4) Is that possible to wake up the phone from the always on with a double tap?
5) Is that possible to have a wallpaper for the home and a different wallpaper for the all apps menu?
Welcome over from HTC. I too was a fan of their products until the last 4 years.
1. Yes, Settings -> Display -> Screen Resolution -> Select WQHD+ although will use more battery.
2. Download Sense Flip or Flipv2 from marketplace.
3. Yes, Settings -> Display -> Navigation Bar on the bottom -> Select your preferred order.
4. Not entirely sure if it's possible.
5. Not entirely sure. I prefer using a different launcher like Nova Launcher and use it to mimic Google as much as possible.
Hi there!
Thanks you very much for your answears!
I have tried the 2 widget that emulates the HTC flip clock but I don't I guess it's not the same thing as the original, also the have a low resolution for this phone.
I have also searched a contact widget to add photo of favorites contacts for quick calls, I have found some but they all are too much small for the resolution of the S9+

Use edge panel for favorite contacts with their photos, otherwise you have stock contacts widget which works just fine
Ok edge panel is nice otherwise the contact widget add too much small photo of your contact and also also you need to manually add one by one, you cannot have a table
Just installed this app yesterday, works great. You can customize swipes on your screen to do different things. I've attached a screenshot of all the current possible actions.
I'm still using stock gestures, but have added a few additional swipes.

I disagree...I never heard of this before.
I really like this app. Just found it yesterday. Wanted to turn off my screen with a swipe or app(now I do with a swipe). It works perfect. This should be BUILT IN to SETTINGS\Advanced\Motions and gestures! However, it is readily available on Play and Galaxy stores, sooo, NP.
Have hidden the bottom native nav buttons. They still work, but are hard to reach one handed. Don't have to reach down for back/recent/home anymore.
Can go directly to app drawer from another program. Very usefull. A plethora of actions.
This app works well if you want to use gestures with a 3rd party launcher but do not like the stock OneUI gestures. I had the stock gestures enabled but only used swipe up for home and then used OHO+ for the back and task switcher, not as good as proper android 10 gestures but works pretty well.
Finally I can use Android 10 gestures-like with Nova! Thanks!

No it is old , it is a part of Samsung goodlock package since i think galaxy s8 back in 2018
I am absolutely loving this app. I came back to Android after 1.5years of iOS and I am not disappointed with the level of customization we can do, and Samsung has definitely up its game as far as the software goes.
