My padfone was bricked when I tried to replace the recovery by TWRP via goomanager (TWRP official recommended).
The procedure of goomanager makes nothing happens, it seems like just download the TWRP package.
The problem is that phone has different protection policies compared to HTC, samsung etc and the bootloader (fastboot mode) is locked by default.
In other words, there is no such a way to connect your phone when your rom, recovery did not pass the verification unless unlock the bootloader by ASUS official tool and void warranty before your operations.
If the recovery or roms did not pass the validation then the left-top corner of screen will show 'invalid kernel' and the phone haven't been unlocked to be premised to visit fastboot mode then the phone will be bricked.

in Windows 7 64 devicemanger the phone does show up as: ASUS android bootloader interface. In other words; Windows can see the phone.
What if you connect the bricked phone to a Linuxcomputer. Would that help? I mean, System and Storage are all on one single eMMc inside the phone. Is there no way to access this and read - write on it?

Maybe I founded a soution for unbrick asus A66 with qualcomm download mode.
form teh pst ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136738 ) I take qlod.py and other stuff, just dosen't work because need proer signed MPRG8260.hex file for waking up the phone from a "deep sleep".
This "invalid kernel" has just happened to me for the second time when downgrading to 4.0.3 ICS using TWRP and I'm rather frustrated right now. I'm posting here because I am highly interested in a way to fix this that does not involve ASUS, which I've already done.
What's the deal with this signed MPRG8260.hex file? Also, is there anything new concerning a fix using JTAG? Is there anyone out there who can fix it and would offer a repair? I really want to get this brick back to life.

Revise todas las opciones del foro y me decidi a rootear usando el metodo GingerBreak, el rooteo se ejecuto sin ningun error aparente, pero para mi sorpresa cuando reinicie el telefono quedo en MODO EMERGENCIA (pantalla amarilla), pense instantaneamente que lo habia brickeado, quite la bateria y lo deje asi como 10min, luego la coloque de nuevo y encendi el equipo, cosa rara encendio de manera correcta, NO mostro el modo emergencia.
De nuevo pense que ya se habia solucionado, pero al apagar de nuevo el equipo volvio a mostrar la pantalla amarilla en modo emergencia, lo raro es que quitando la bateria 10min y volviendolo a encender SI arranca de manera correcta.
Pero debido a que es MOLESTO que cada vez que lo apague deba hacer esto (quitar la bateria y tal) pues me decidi a seguir los metodos de desbrickeo que estan aqui en el foro, flashee una ROM 2.3.3 en formato .kdz sin inconvenientes, luego realice el reseteo de fabrica (wipe) necesario para eliminar los datos de la ROM anterior y el telefono encendio de manera correcta, pero nuevamente al apagarlo y encenderlo encontre la pantalla amarilla del modo emergencia de nuevo, sin cambios, espere 10min e inicia normalmente.
La situacion me tiene cansado y molesto, por eso acudo a ustedes, ayudenme a recuperar el funcionamiento NORMAL del equipo.

I had/have this same problem ..meaning the phone when restarted would go into emergency mode ..like always after it being earlier connected to pc.
well after doing all sorts of bells and whistles ,I found out that the culprit is sd-card due to improper partitioning etc.. and just replacing the sd-card solves this highly irritating problem .. Hope this helps ya !

Luego configuran el dispositivo
Configuración -> Aplicaciones -> Reinicio rápido (desmarcar)
Configuración -> Aplicaciones -> Desarrollo -> Depuración USB (activar)
Instalan los drivers adb, conectan el dispositivo y les dará la opción de instalarlos al terminar desconectan el teléfono
Apagan el dispositivo sacan la batería unos segundos luego la colocan de nuevo encienden el dispositivo en Fastboot con la combinación de las teclas [Volumen- / Poder] durante 15seg se quedara estancado en el logo
Conectan el dispositivo a la PC y ejecutan el software
Selecciona la opción Root + CMW
Dejan que trabaje se tardara unos segundos NO TOQUEN NADA
Lo dejan un rato ya que el soft. Estará haciendo unas tareas más el avisara cuando todo el proceso haya terminado completamente se apagara y encenderá nuevamente

Why did your pc restarted? or do you mean your Device?
This is what the root.bat do:
first it erase the recovery image and flash an image with cwm (step that will make your device to not get into the recovery any more... There's a solution)
second it flash the y200recovery.img that is in the y200toolbox directory
third it boots
then when the device boots into the android software and you see the loader, or the lock (depending on your configuration) it will run a shell in adb that will get the superuser.apk in the /system directory. If you're using an Huawei u8655-51, there will be not a chance to damage anything if your pacient.
last it sends the adb reboot command to the phone and the phone boots rooted.
Know, make all things again, but wait until the command promt shuts itself.

instala los drivers del tablet.. al conectarlo debería reconocerlo automáticamente el pc. ademas debes marcar la opción depuración usb en el tablet. si no se instalan los drivers instala este programa pdanet https://mega.co.nz/#!uY8AwTKA!S4iFJUAHo1BPYhDhSJLmV0oUq1YQMrd9QvAzYT9ugiE cuando el programa te solicite el modelo del tablet coloca otros y conecta tu tablet en depuración usb y te pedirá instalar los drivers y listo utiliza el kingo

Warning! Use it under yor own risk, it worked good on mine but i can't responzabilize for yours... follow the steps and ther must no be troubles...

1. open zip from sd card usin es file explorer or equal
2. enter until you find "root_4.3.apk" and install it.
3. This app is in chineese or something, just click the big button (it says somethin in chineese but also says ROOT) Click the button, when ask something click the RIGHT BUTTON.
4. the app will restart tablet and then will be able to use root :laugh:. Always use the right button for give super user permissions to app that need it.
5. (optional) install another Super User app (in your favourite languaje) give it super user privileges and use some times, then you can uninstall the root app and the super user chineese... if you loose the super user permissions try again the procedure and let the super user stay some more time in your system before removing chineese...

Me funcionó a mi, no garantizo que funcione en tu dispositivo, recuerda que siempre debes hacerlo bajo tu responsabilidad, si sigues nos pasos no deberías tener problema con esto...
mi tableta es Toshiba Excite 7" con JB 4.2.2 tengo activado el modo depuración y las fuentes desconocidas.
1. Abre el archivo comprimido desde tu celular (SD) con cualquier explorador de archivos.
2. Abre la carpeta que está ahi y luego instala el apk "root_4.3.apk".
3. La aplicación está como en chino pero a mi me funcionó, solo abrela y te saldrá un botón grande que dice ROOT, das clic y esperas, cuando la aplicación pregunte algo (en chino) salen dos botones, hay que tocar el de la derecha (que quien sabe qué dice)
4. La aplicación reinicia la tableta y ya tenemos permisop de super usuario, siempre dando clic al borón de la derecha para concederlos.
5. (Opcional) Para poder manejar mejor los permisos de super usuario hay que instalar nuestra propia aplicación super usuario, yo utilicé "super SU" porque solita desinstala el superusuario chino y se queda los permisos
* Si pierdes los permisos de super usuario al borrar la aplicacion china trata de nuevo todo el procedimiento y deja un poco más la aplicación china....
Eso es todo, recuerden revisar los permisos de super usuario con alguna aplicación que lo requiera o con root checker, este procedimiento funcionó con mi tableta y con el celular de mi novia (Xperia J)

I reseached and found out how to use this tool!!
and it also needed that the toshiba at7 had a developer option to activate usb debugging and the way to unlock this option is:
1.go to setting
2.press "about tablet"
3.press "build number" multiple times until it says "you are now a developer"
4.go back and the developer option is now available
Now just activate usb debugging and just follow the instruction about the software

Actually i have the same problem and just wipe my data continously and it worked for me
Hi, I'm trying to fix a phone, PCD 508 that apparently came with a virus from Factory. I think so because I've made a Factory reset, both from settings and from boot menu, wiped cache, user data, no use, it's still there.
Symtoms are that web pages pop up, at any time, of rubish random sites.
I found a Mediatek MTK droid tool but didn't work, as it only Works with Android up to 4xx, according to information posted in this forum, and this phone runs 7.
I hope anyone can help me, as the phone is a good budget one but it's impossible to use with this popups.
I've also tried this https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/ wich was great and I could "remove" stock browser and download a Chrome from Google Play. But the problem persisted.
Phone specs:
PCD 508
chipset Mediatek MT6735P
Android 7
I found that ZTE Blade V6 plus uses the same chipset, Can that be a source of resources for this?

I've done the removal instructions from the Malwarebytes site, but the virus keeps reappearing after a few weeks.
EDIT: I found the definitive solution. RonAshman posted it for me, because my english is bad.
I fixed it! @ndu926 gave me the instructions:
- First download the original firmware (spyware included). You just need the boot.img file.
- Then download Magisk from the store and install it. You can also download the apk and install.
- Then patch boot.img using Magisk.
- Flash the patched boot.img using the SP tool for MTK devices. (Only for Windows)
- Install Root Explorer and delete from \system the adups apks and also geocodeservice.apk which corresponds to the "Helper" app.
- If you can't locate them, download jumobile from the store (or the apk) and use it to find the exact location.
- Perform a factory reset.
Done.
Piece of advice: Never buy a cheap a** phone like this one again.

Hola Lunagatuna, yo jodí el mío intentando ponerle una ROM de otro fabricante pero con el mismo hardware usando la heramienta de Mediatek (como no se instalaban cometí el error de usar la opción formatear todo y ya no le pude poner ninguna rom) Veo que la solución vino de ndu926 que es de Buenos Aires. Si no entendés el post en inglés de arriba con la solución pedísela a él.

Hello. Unfortunately the 20L has a Qualcomm chipset and we can't unlock the bootloader and flash it.
The following two links have all the information we have regarding the unlocking process.
Hidden fastboot oem commands
Growing Ever Closer to Root/Bootloader Unlock... New Info
TLDR: there's no way of unlocking it since we need a token from a server that doesn't work.
Mediatek devices can unlocked and then flashed with mtkclient but there's no similar workaround for qualcomm devices.

Hola. Desafortunadamente, el 20L tiene un conjunto de chips Qualcomm y no podemos desbloquear el bootloader y flashear.
Los links tienen toda la información que tenemos sobre el proceso de desbloqueo.
TLDR: no hay forma de desbloquearlo ya que necesitamos un token de un servidor que no funciona.
Los dispositivos Mediatek se pueden actualizar con mtkclient, pero no existe una solución similar para los dispositivos Qualcomm.
