[Q] microphone for noise cancellation - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day. Tell me how to turn off the second microphone for noise cancellation (The hole in the top of the phone) MTK6577 Android 4.0.4 replica SGS3.
Poor audio quality of the call, found the information that is to blame microphone for noise cancellation. Suggested to turn off the phone settings. But I have no such settings.

[Q] Solution for Audio Recording, need advice on Video Camcorder audio

When recording a song yesterday, my song ideas came out choppy.I was recording strictly wav audio and It almost sounded like there was a noise gate on the phone. After a while of digging through options, I found an option in Call settings> Additional Settings > noise reduction. When this option is selected, the phone turns on a noise gate that makes audio recordings sound terrible; However, when this option is turned off, Audio recordings sound great!! Unfortunately, this doesn't affect the audio quality when recording video, because most wav audio programs only use one microphone. So, I'm wondering....Seeing as how this phone records camcorder audio in stereo( one mic at the top and one at the bottom ), is it possible that these microphones are out of phase and thats why there is no bass in video recording? I'm assuming that the polarity on the top microphone is reversed to eliminate background noise during calls. Also, maybe there is a camcorder program where you can select which microphone to use. When I connected my Galaxy headphones( with the included Mic) the audio was redirected from the the two microphone to the headset microphone. Im thinking of making a TRRS to TRS adapter, which will connect only the microphone and see if that resolves the issue. I understand that I could just add an equalizer to the audio from video in iMovie, but I really enjoy experimenting with this problem. Furthermore, has anybody tried making an XLR to TRRS cable? I used one on my Samsung Vibrant years ago and it sounded great! any suggestions would be great!!! (To get to call settings, you have to click on the phone app, then left button to access)

[Q] Accessing the stereo headphone microphones

Hey guys,
for the Xperia Z2 there are headphones which allow background noise suppressing for example when listing to music in the train or similar.
I now want to access these two microphones in an application of mine. My question is now whether this is possible or not and if it is possible how can achieve it. I tried to access them via the standard API of Android (AudioRecord), but had no luck. I also tried various different applications which can record audio but none of them worked either.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day
To my knolage, no.
The microphones on the earphones are not usable, simply because they are managed by firmware and this is the only device with this tech
Is this headphones, that have noise reduction don't work like a normal hands free, because they don't have microphone?

They can be used as normal hands free headphones. The microphones used for noise reduction are also used for picking up voice. I don't know how they do it but it works. What I miss is a hardware button on the wire to pick up and end calls. There is none and you have to take out your phone to answer.
Yes the two microphones can be used when when calling someone. Another interesting thing is that when changing the input device to stereo microphone (there is an accessory stereo microphone for getting better recording quality available) instead of noise canceling headset the two noise reduction microphones can be used as input for example when using the camera app. But then the audio output is not on the headset.

Hello, i'm having a weird issue with my phone's mic.

Hello, first I want to apologize for my english, it's not my first language but I will try my best.
Well, I have a Blu Life 8 XL with KitKat 4.4.2 (I updated it to Lollipop, then the mic issue starts... I restored factory default config and now its on KitKat again) and after 2 weeks my mic stopped working. I tried everything on the net to fix it but nothing seems to work (disabling noise reduction, cleaning the mics, the paper on the back of the battery that works on nexus 5, disabling google search, etc).
Making tests with the phone's sound recorder I suddenly found this:
When I record something the app seems to be recording (the needle moves just as if the mic capture the sound) but when I play it only noise comes out (like ground noise, static noise).
But if I plug my earphones and play the same recording, now I can hear what I recorded, so the mic is not the problem I guess.
If I record something with the earphones mic, I can hear it with the earphones, or the phone speaker.
Also when calling, I must use the loudspeaker or the earphones becouse otherwise people can't hear me.
Any recomendation, help or something?

Bluetooth headset for calling?

Hi.
I'm looking for a Sony Bluetooth headset for calling. I usually go to noisy places so the most important thing is noise cancellation (or noise reduction) of the microphone.
I looked for that and I see there're three options:
-SBH52
-SBH70
-SBH80
I haven't used any of that so I don't know about their noise reduction(cancellation) performance.
Can anyone give me some advice or reviews about them?
Thanks.

Issue with Microphone and Noise cancellation

Hi guys, I got an on going issue I can't manage to fix, for a very long time.
I tried all types of MIUI versions including the latest 10.3.5, and all Betas up to 9.6.27 firm+ven & ROM but I think it is deeper in kernel/Firmware level than ROM.
I even tried Pixel experience ROM..
the Issue is that on handsfree/loudspeaker voice/video calls (Skype, LINE, WhatsAPP, regular Voice via SIM card, etc.) the other person on the other side of the line claims that they hear the sound metallic and a bit distorted,
but the real problem they claim all the time my sound breaks and it is impossible for them to understand a full sentence because of those breaks.
the Issue of sound distortion and breaking up only happens on the speaker calls (hands-free).
Hands-free calls regardless to what program. it could be regular SIM card call, WhatsAPP calls, skype, whatever, you name it. it is on all, as long as it is speaker/hands-free call.
both Voice calls and Video calls, all suffer the same
when NOT on hands-free. e.g. using headset (wired or Bluetooth) or just holding the phone to my ear, all works great, sound is perfect and no breakup.
that is true to all call types (SIM call, WhatsApp, skype, etc.)
after deeply investigating, all the signs points to the noise cancellation feature the Phone's software as the perpetrator, for some reason the noise cancellation
is to aggressive which causes the metallic sound (common know sound characteristic of noise cancellation filters) and it cuts my speak believing it is ambient sound
how do you guys overcome this issue? or How do I globally remove noise cancellation all together??
here is what I found (after blocking some MICs with a masking tape in different scenarios):
Handsfree/loud speaker call always use the Top MIC only (not using the bottom one), you block Top mic, no sound on the other side of the line
non-handsfree (placing phone at your ear), always uses bottom MIC (blocking top MIC will have no effect). However , and that is the interesting part..
remember i said non-handsfree uses bottom MIC? that is true in general and in normal operation, but if you block the bottom MIC, than it would switch to top MIC (unlike hands-free/speaker that always using top MIC, no matter what and never uses bottom MIC), once you open / release the blocking of bottom MIC, the non-handsfree call would switch back to bottom MIC.
so my conclusion is since the issue happens only on hands-free/loud speaker voice/video calls and hands-free/loud speaker calls only use TOP MIC, that the top MIC is the ****ed up one.
