What's Raccoon Audio?
Raccoon audio is audio optimization applications in the audio device is a modification and combination of multiple applications with the interface of the sound enhancer noozxoide EIZO-rewire ™ PRO simplified and modified to incorporate some engine sound enhancers like beats audio, dsp manager, SoundFX, dolby and some other.
What distinguishes Raccoon Audio sound enhancer with other applications?
-The difference is more RA refers to the optimization of the sound on your android device and maintain the stability of the supporting hardware audio device.
-Besides installing the RA in quite easily.
-Install RA without using CWM,
-Install RA without a push into the system,
-RA can run on any device that unroot,
-RA is not at risk of brick or bootloop,
-RA is more compatible with almost all ROMs and android devices, but it is also compatible with most music players and when you have an android device other sound enhancer, RA tend to be more friendly
-Effects of raccoon audio not only do you feel when playing on the music player, but the effects can be felt when you play back audio in the file browser that supports audio player, the youtube app, the internet browser
In any android version can be active RA?
Starting from gingerbread to jelly bean, for froyo RA can not run.
What privileges audio raccoon?
Raccoon audio smoother and more compatible with the music player or audio player such as youtube, browser and others. Besides the interface more attractive (for ics). Using the engine of sound enhancer that has been optimized so it is suitable for audio and raccoons can be used universally in different ROMs and devices.
How to use Raccoon Audio?
1.Download Racoon Audio by clicking link below post.
2.Install instruction included.
FAQ (Please read before running raccoon in audio)
Q: RA only smaller?
A: Yes, RA is a combination of several audio enhancer such as I have described above, to our use of noozxoide interface, but we simplify and modification. Our consideration is a small file so for those of you who have a small memory can also be shared in the RA, in addition to that we have some other considerations especially for low device.
Q: Is the RA safe to run?
A: Safe, because of the way RA is relatively easy to install and does not cause brick, bootloop when you install applications such as audio enhancer should use CWM, or push to the system. Besides applications like RA and other articles on tips droid always through testing stages before publication so that readers tips droid safely use our applications and tutorials. RA is also safe from viruses and mallware (tested with some antivirus on your PC and android and declared clear of viruses and mallware)
Q: RA can run smoothly on the android version is it?
A: Our RA test runs smoothly on the stock ROM and some custom ROM from several different devices both vendors (Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, Hi-Sense) and type. In Gingerbread, ICS and Jelly Bean goes smoothly, but on froyo not work.
Q: After using RA why even a small sound effect almost no change?
A: In addition to RA, running or not depends on the compression of the song, when you use an uncompressed song irregularly, RA can not run optimally.
Q: My RA force close, what's the solution?
A: We minimize these events, some tests we did, but for some applications audio enhancer, I have tried to make the RA is compatible with other sound enhancer, but in some cases RA sometimes can not run smoothly with sound enhancer, if it happens, you should take the solution is please to freeze sound enhancer you have used before.
Q: Is the RA only have an effect on the music player?
A: No, the RA will provide overall audio effect, like on youtube application, browser, file manager that has audio player, ringtones and other (including voice when you call, but only a small effect to reduce noise so that the sound can be heard clearly when your phone, it also depends on your signal and your listener while also mic your speaker and your speakers)
Q: Is the RA can damage hardware audio?
A: RA helps you to optimize the audio hardware and software you. If you do the proper setting in RA, the audio device you will be more durable and optimal than not use RA, but if you are setting up the force in excess, will cause damage to your audio device.
Actually not only RA, but all applications enhancer and music players can damage your audio hardware, if you make the wrong setting volume dimaximalkan example, setting dimaximalkan without tolerance. Without the application of RA or audio enhancer memaximalkan even if you force a continual and regular basis, I can guarantee your hardware will be damaged, but it is less convenient when you hear the organ and can damage your hearing. DWYOR.
Q: How do I set RA is best?
A: For this question I answered "relative", we suggest you to try to do their own personalized settings, and the ability to tune your audio device. If you are confused you can find references on the internet how to set up the equalizer on the right and the best android.
Q: After using RA, why is music to be large or small volume suddenly?
A: Make sure you play good music and not compressed extrem, also make sure the bitrate of the song, make sure your music player and speaker capabilities of your audio device. Also make sure the RA runs and does not crash with audio enhancer you use before you install RA. Setting RA also affects the quality of the sound produced.
If it happens that you take is a solution uncheck audio compression options

I am going to mod to a better ROM from one of those given in the development thread soon, but one thing they all fail to mention is whether their ROMs have enabled Stereo Widening or not. This feature is awesome in Galaxy 3. But LG Optimus One doesn't have it. So is there any trick to enable the enhancements or something similar so that we get the wide effects plus equalizer in the default android media player. As I don't remember seeing any other custom app having stereo widening either. >.<
the new android honeycomb player have the equalizer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885535
I have PowerAmp to use for equalizers. I need the DSP effects like Wide /Stereo Widening, Live, Concert Hall, etc etc
Search for dsp thread. The thread has both the apk and the zip file and also a lib so file. Kindly test it and give us your feedback.

Tried doesn't work DSP MANAGER has no effect whatsoever we still need to somehow mod that libaudioslinger.so library to make it.....Can anybody suggest more ways to improve audio playback quality on O1 ???
Please refer to zaclimon's excellent all-in-one
Many people will be attracted to this device because of the sound quality delivered by the Wolfson Microelectronics WM8994 DAC. However the full potential can only be released by installing supercurio's Voodoo Sound (Google Play)
This requires root and a suitable kernel. The custom kernels referenced in the guide are all based on -SteveS-'s and will do the job.
So now to choose a ROM...
For some reason all the stock based ROM's appear to include the Beats Audio MOD (Introduced by klin1344 in R2.1 of his Klassic ROM and included by all followers). Some claim this improves the sound quality, but I would strongly disagree. Unfortunately it appears to be hard/impossible to remove.
The SGS ports have issues with camera and bluetoth and the non-stock based ROMs have their own issues which may put you off.
So that leaves us with... Stock
Don't worry, all is not lost, with a few tweaks it will work well.
First use the all-in-one to install a custom kernel and root your device.
Required apps
Voodoo Sound
Rockbox or PowerAmp
Total Commander (or any other root explorer)
Your launcher of choice (ADW free works well for me)
All your favourite apps...
Remove Music 1.1.1 and any other stock apps that you don't want.
Copy .nomedia to your music folder (for me the root of my external sd card) to avoid all your album art appearing in gallery and to make startup quicker and save your battery.
Any other alterations will be to personal taste, but you will have a great sounding player with superb battery life and everything works...

You can download the build 3.5 of ICS for the 4.0 It includes voodoo kernel module so no worries. The only problem for audiophiles though is no deep sleep and maybe lags (because of no openGL).

Thanks, I will give it a try. Lack of deep sleep is not such a huge issue - attempting to deep sleep and crashing is
A fully functioning CM9 would be great

Most ROMs have Voodoo, and you can download it anyway. What you want to check is the kernel Scheduler used by default. I've found that under some load I had noise and, rarely, lags when I was heavily multi-tasking.
I don't think there's anything that can really affect the sound quality. Has anyway seen if Samy had patched the sound driver in their stock kernel for some tweak?
actually if you read through the change log there are several versions of klins and even one or 2 of Han's ROM's where they removed beats audio because of how it broke other things, till they got a newer version of beats that didn't break it anymore.

Agreed, I jumped the gun a bit early with the ethereal Rom as i simply was flashing rom over one another and come to find out some files stayed with the conversions. With a fresh wipe and back to stock, I installed ethereal and haven't looked back - an excellent rom that eats alot less ram compared to Icy Fusion (of course nothing really touches stock in regards to ram until the ics rom comes to full fruitation). Beats doesn't even activate until you grab the driver app (which I haven't done). Using the voodoo control app instead, all is well with great battery life too!
Somewhere I saw beats zip, so I just installed it, I am a new noob then . After that there was no beats icon or install indication of beats and also I lost my dsp manager. Now I cant open dsp mnager and after every boot dsp force closed. How can I fix this???

only way is to restore a backup (because you DID a backup prior to install beats, didn't you?)
As I said, at that time I m a noob. so no backup. I think i have to reinstall rom. is there any need of dsp manager? music is going on fine. I just want to remove that error of dsp crash.
Sent from Atrix 4G.
Nah, there is no need of dsp (althroug, this is subjetive).. to get rid of that message try disabling dsp effects on android settings, so it won't try to load on boot..
in fact, on my atrix, whenever i enable dsp effects i get the effects plus a very annoying background noise... so i didn't miss it when i installed beats...
The dsp manager is crash because you use the equalizer
You have uninstall the app and afted reinstall the app
P.S. Dont use the equalizer
Sorry bad english

Beats and DSP manager are mutually exclusive, it's a widely known fact. Just like the fact you don't actually need either. Just like the fact you should ALWAYS make backups no matter what, regardless of your level of expertise. Every tutorial and procedure says that but unfortunately hardly anyone listens.
If you only want to get rid of the crash errors, just delete /system/app/DSPManager.apk (or similar, depending on your system) with a root-level file manager.
thanks ravilov & andresrivas, now i m not getting any errors. From know on I will backup my rom before any nasty experiment!! Is there any way to enhance the quality of music in Atrix 4G??

enhance even more? humm.. you could try a different player, but of all that i've tested, connected music player had the best quality (yes, the stock motorola player).
Also, the quality of the rip makes almost the 90% of the diff... i can pass you a couple of very high quality mp3 so you can see what im talking about

Ok, no offence here, but if you ask to have a beautiful sound even after dsp manager or beats mod is because you actually LOVE to hear music with your phone!
As far as i know, we are listening mp3 at 292kb/s and from that point (I'm a sound mixer/masterer for my music band and quality past that point will mostly NOT be noticeable for any low quality headphones ! I got shurf proffessionnal studio wich cost me 350$ and a normal pair of Sony headphone that cost me 45 and there is no major difference after testing with Sony's but but i admit that there is a huge differences with my proffessional headphones with the sampling play rate!
I supposed if he tried with dsp and with beats and not yet satisfied ,i guess he didn't really want stock player and high quality mp3, unless he is having a good pit of headphones and a good amount of SD card space to contain high quality mp3 past over 320kb/s with an bipollarising ......
Ad i understand, you need power and softness on your phone sound as far as i understand ...
So this way going to be your player apk
Let me say that if you have a couple of buks to use in a player on the store, you are going to enjoy it !
I use to play music a lot with ny mono bluetooth and AFAIK mono BT are made to talk ! Not to listen music .... but i did use poweramp, with sound noddulling and it is amazing after a couple of tweaks within the player equaliser and the stereo enhencer and : WOW !
I can say that there are aany out there but for me after 20 bucks of trying different knowned paid music apk, power amp is really the best !
Soo, my suggestion : as andresrivas said, make sure that your mp3 quality are at a good level
And have a powerfull music player on your phone! The mod is kinda helping but .... not really as powerfull as tweaks with player equalizer !
A small fact : once, I've connected my atrix soundcard trough the headphone Jack into the aux in on a DJ table in a nightclub (le shack) and using poweramp, my everyday equalizer, he didn't touch anything on his table equalizer, and the sound was great! Lot of bass, crystal clear sound .... He seriously told me that my output was better than his iPhone! So, i guess we got to be proud of our atrix

best way is flashing a backup or another rom.. in your case, you must flash the stock rom..
you could also try to delete data for folder player and not using its internal eq or dsp...

you got me right, I need soft and powerful sound.
So u are telling me to use Poweramp but with some tweaks. Can u explain the tweaks. to me
Currently I am using a player called noozy(not in the market) https://www.box.com/s/pkvfwflqlvd553p1mgtl
can you compare noozy with poweramp so I can decide to buy poweramp. I m very thankful to you.
Atrix 4G, CM7 based TopSmarts 1.3 rom, Faux123 1ghz kernel
Thanks for the clarifications. I tried what u suggested but still then the market apps folder player and equalizer crash. I didn't take backup of rom and have learnt my 1st lesson . Do up know what files need to be restored after uninstalling beats ? Can those stock rom files be downloaded?

i have no idea whixh files instalss/modify, but i intend to look at it on my spare time... as states on the app, eq apps dont work..
ive checked the logcat for the fc of folder player and it tries to activate a internal effects manager... thats why it crash...

Sound boost for all US Note 3 variants. You must have a snapdragon cpu. Will not work on octacores. This is the highest volume boost that is still considered safe. You should not experience any clipping or washed out sound.
Installation:
×Flash via gordon flasher here is the app

×Unzip this package and copy the file into your system/etc/snd_soc_msm folder which overwrites the stock file. Reboot after file copy.

Can you tell any significant difference in the max volume when using sound "mods" like this?
What kind of difference can you see in the following scenarios:
1.) Stock Sound --> THIS Mod instead?
How about those of you that have been running Viper?
2.) Stock Sound --> Viper Mod ??
3.) Viper Mod --> THIS Mod instead ?

I'm using viper from the playstore and it works great for my music. I work in a factory and plug my 3.5mm head jack into a kicker stereo. The phone speaker it's self seems loud enough for me. No to knock this sound mod at all but I favor the eq in viper. Just my opinion. The only downside of viper is I have to greenify it when I'm done using it.

From what I've noticed about Viper is that it doesn't work with every music app.
It doesn't work with the Samsung music player.
It will work with the Google Play Music app with wav (flac encoded) files, but not MP3s.
It will work with Power Amp will all files, but the Power Amp trial app I downloaded can't see my wav/flac files for playback.

I have only been using it for a few days but my understanding is that replaces the stock DSP manager once you install the driver and select it in Settings > Music Effects, so the sound effect *should* be global and affect all music sources. I do not use the Samsung music app, and I do not store MP3s locally. I had some, but many of them must be inferior rips because they sounded flat or distorted no matter what EQ settings I used. I finally decided to try Google All Access, and I am glad I did. Using the highest quality stream and ViPER4Android, it sounds 100x better than my ipod.

The easiest way to know if Viper is working, is that when you are playing music, to go into the Viper app and uncheck the enable box at the top. If you hear the music volume/sound change, then you know it was working, and you can re-check the box.
I know that it doesn't work at all with the Samsung Music app.
On the Google Play Music, it does work with WAV( (FLAC encoded) files, but not MP3s. I don't have the "Google All Access" subscription, so I can't verify if Viper works with it.
Since my MP3s weren't sounding too good while using Viper, I got all my CDs and did them as WAV (FLAC), and copied it over the microSD card (but took about 21GB of space). But it does sound much better than the MP3 rips I did of these CDs many years ago.

I tried that while streaming Google Music, and it definitely makes a difference. I have no MP3s or FLACs to test with the Samsung Music app, so I have no idea if V4A effects will translate through that app.
Since using V4A and Google Music Service, I have heard new musical details (instruments as well as front/rear speaker isolation) on songs that I thought I knew very well. This is most likely due to the poor quality of my MP3s, rather than V4A or the quality of Google Music, but it was a nice surprise regardless. If you have not tried Google Music Service then I highly recommend it, especially if you are surrounded with solid 4G or WiFi. The first month is free. It's not on the same level as FLAC, but it will probably be a step up from MP3.

I downloaded the FX 2.3.1.1 version from the xda thread instead of the unofficial market link because (1) the market link is in Chinese, and (2) I wanted to make sure I got the latest release. Install it like any other apk, go to Settings > Sound > Music effects and select ViPER4Android. You will be prompted to install a special driver, so do that. Reboot, then open "ViPER4Android" in the app drawer, and tweak to your liking. Then play some tunes and adjust EQ and other options as needed. The effects are much more pronounced via the audio jack rather than the speakerphone.

I'm using 2.3.0.1 and it "automatically" installed the driver, as the one from the Play Store had a list of drivers, and I wasn't sure which one to use.
Does the 2.3.1.1 also automatically install the driver?
Edit: Updated to 2.3.1.1 without problem.
Some people can't make viper4android work on the new Lollipop update so I'm doing a simple guide:
Requirements:
-Root
-Busybox
-Custom recovery
Installation:
1.- Deactivate NuPlayer in developer options.
2.- Deactivate any other equalizer.
3.- Set selinux to permissive with an app like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux&hl=en
4- Install through recovery the zip located below then reboot.
5.- Open viper4android and install the driver you want and then reboot.
6.- Done, enjoy high quality sound.
these are the only versions of audio_effects and audio_policy i found that work with streaming apps. can you elaborate a bit more about them where did you find them or maybe you have an idea what was modified in them in order for streaming audio to work? thanks!
Good job! But how can I increase the power of the speaker, like in KitKat using Mixer app, but in Lollipop?

I use those 2 files from the zip file to make v4a works for poweramp
My previous v4a installation only works on stock music & video player, now works for poweramp and mx player too.
Another note, disabling NUplayer not necessary for me...
Thanks again for this awesome guide :good:
Edit: I found using stock audio_policy.conf is possible to by remove this part:
Deep buffer
deep_buffer {
sampling_rates 44100|48000
channel_masks AUDIO_CHANNEL_OUT_STEREO
formats AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_16_BIT
devices AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_SPEAKER|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_EARPIECE|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADPHONE|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_ALL_SCO|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_AUX_DIGITAL|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_PROXY|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_ANLG_DOCK_HEADSET|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_FM|AUDIO_DEVICE_OUT_FM_TX
flags AUDIO_OUTPUT_FLAG_DEEP_BUFFER
}
Note: removing compress offload not necessary, as stated in dorimanx lp kernel thread. So removing deep buffer part only is enough.

do you mean just by removing these 2 sections stock audio_policy and audio_effects can be used instead?
btw, these two .conf files from OP zip break screen casting functionality of chromecast so i'm wondering if your solution will work.
edit: i think it does!
Thanks so much, it really helped

So, i've been having this huge problem on Nexus 7 2013 w\power amp and 5.1.1 cm12.1 and getting convolver and irs files to work properly.
two questions,
are your irs files working?
also, is the audio policy config on this thread flashable or pushable?

No problem with irs & convolver on my D802, both working normally. I don't know for other devices.
The file from op is flashable from recovery. You can try that.
Just for comparison, I use other methods, I installing v4a manually then install the drivers from the app. Imho audio effect config will change when v4a installing driver. Most useful part from this thread for me only the audio policy config that solve my problem make other apps like poweramp work with v4a. Then I found that audio policy config from D802 stock rom can be use too by removing 2 parts. I believe this solution is better because I only lost 2 features from stock rom, not as much as the policy config from op.

Yeah, i flashed the file above and did everything properly, but IRS convolver files aren't exactly being 'used', not all irs files are working properly.
Should i be doing anything to the audio policy config file ? I use power amp too (although it did tell me it was processing under power amp),
IRS is crucial to me because i use my N7 2013 in my car as my in-dash.

I think that's unrelated to the audio policy config thing, this thread already prove the way v4a working for D802. Solved the major problem why v4a only works for stock music & video player.
I suggest you to ask in the v4a main thread or maybe ask the dev that creates your favorite irs that didn't work. I only use 2 irs files & both working normally.
this is kind of off topic but perhaps somebody is experiencing the same. i'm having a weird audio issue on LP which wasn't present on KK in any way and not V4A related.
no matter what the audio source is (playing mp3s or lossless, tons of EQ on or off, YouTube video, game, video, etc) there's a totally random, short sound corruption that sounds like garbled, sped up noise. it's impossible to trace any pattern when and why does it appear and perhaps it's related to radio since it tends to appear more when the signal is switching from Wi-Fi to cellular or cellular signal comes online, etc but not necessarily. i tried to look at the logs and don't see anything suspicious regarding sound there at all.
there's also a theory on other devices forums that Qualcomm's mpdecision is the cause since it always leaves only one core for the sound online and on LP apparently you need more. that doesn't seem right, however, since it does happen when the phone is doing a lot too and not just with the screen off.
any ideas are welcomed.

You can try if the theory was right or wrong by temporary disabling mpdecision. I think the setting is in /mpt/enable file. Change the value from 1 to 0, than compared the results. Don't forget to enable it again by changing the value on that file back to 1. If still no different, I guess the theory was invalid.
doesnt work for me I flashed the zip and then got "viper 4 Android stopped working" on Start, now I cannot install it in the normal way. Every Reboot that "viper 4 Android stopped working" thing comes and idk what to do

after much experimenting i can confirm that the only way to fix that issue is to always keep 2 or more CPU cores online, nothing else solves it at all.
with stock kernel the only option is to disable mpdecision and enable "multicore power saving" and "soc temperature throttle" for further heat control because without mpdecision you'll be keeping all 4 cores online.

Ah i will try that, Iam using dorimanx.
Did you get convolvers to work? They dont have any effect for me. Also the effect of viper4android is very small on lollipop. I can hear a difference but its nothing compared to kitkat

I had someone trouble getting convolvers to work as well. Converting viper to a user app with titanium uninstalling the driver then reconverting it to a system app worked for me.

after converting back to system app you install the drivers again or when its user app?
Edit: it worked! Iam using it as user app and its working flawless! Kudos to you

obviously using a custom kernel gives way more options to keep those 2 cores online in less destructive manner.
no problems with V4A here, everything works exactly like on KK. like mentioned above the key is to use it as a system app, modify selinux mode and edit audio policies files.
