Does anyone know how to do this for the Mega 6.3? I keep my phone in my back pocket. It is constantly on and it drains my battery VERY quickly!

I havent found an option for that yet, but in the meantime... you could turn your screen timeout to 15 seconds,,,,
Yeah, it is set to 15 sec. There isn't an option. A database will have to be edited, I'm just not sure which one or how!
Root your device. Then instalk Xposed framework and Wanam Xposed, you will find that option there.

Hi,
Actually you should be able to achieve this by editing the following file:
Code:
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Find the key in question and comment out the mapping by prefixing with #.
I have used this method to disable home and menu keys as I only use pie navigation.

I have a general problem with all samsung mobile phones from s2 and note to s3
The screen continuously turns on and off when in idle mode that drain phone battery fast and I had no reason to do something like that
Any one could help?
must be because of something you did on all these phones.
- rooted?
- custom rom?
- separate custom kernel?
- weird apps?
- some badly made cover/case that inadvertently presses the power button regularly?
what happens on screen when it is turned on? just the unlock screen or ..??

I've had all the Galaxy S line of phones. Never seen this kind of behavior. Especially if your not flashing anything. Take it back.

I had this problem with my S3 2 weeks ago.
Turns out that the "Super Mario Bross" game was causing this.
Install BetterBatteryStats to see whats is causing this problem. :good:

Nice !!
You know, in the Settings/Power you could set Economy/Power Saver mode. All that is gone in ICS. As if the battery life isnt already bad .... Any alternatives?
HTC hid them.
Try the free ap called hidden settings
good luck

Thanks man. Much appreciated. I think their so called reasons for hiding sound bullish. Confusing the end user? Really? If it confuses people that much, then dont go into the power saver menu...or get an iphone... :/ .......Right

You can also use Minimalistic Text to create a widget that links to the power saving settings. Unfortunately the settings don't work as my wifi would never turn back on after waking the phone, I had to constantly restart my wifi everytime I picked up the phone. And the settings there are minimal, not like before where you had more choices. I had to reverse all the settings then uninstalled the app, it never helped save any battery at all.

Those settings only take effect when the battery drops below some (unknown) per cent. At least, that is my understanding.
Yea, I don't see an area where I can set a percentage to which power saver options activate... What gives HTC? Stupid to get rid of that feature even if I never really needed to use it tell now.

Speaking of power saving, does anyone else notice that since ICS, the backlight does not return to normal brightness after exiting camera application? You have to turn the screen off via the top button then back on to return to normal brightness.

I find the low power warning comes when the battery drops to 14%
Supposedly this is when the hidden power saving settings get implemented.
Yes, it would be nice to be able to change the 14% to be some other value, perhaps 30%

Yeah, I had mine set to 20% before the update. This hidden menu doesnt even have the option to set exactly when the power saver settings kick in...........No....I will never move to iphone. Not in a million years. But come on Android, stop downgrading your OS for cripes sake..geeez
Now that we have root is there a fix for lock screen lag?
The current root procedure breaks more things so its not worth it even if it did

On my Note it appears to be a TouchWiz problem. I do not have the lock screen enabled as my phone never leaves my side. From sleep it takes approx. 1 second to wake if i press the power button when using TouchWiz. It wakes in less than half a second when i use SSLauncher or Nova!
Not using touchwiz. Nova launcher instead. Still get crazy lag. Seems its across all Note 2. Hoping for a fix.
I was browsing the n7100 forums and someone there asked the same question. A lot of people said that the lag was because of the phone coming out of deep sleep so the only way to fix the lag would be to keep some app running in the background that keeps the phone from sleeping. The only problem with that is that your battery life won't be as good.
why not just download voltage control or similar app and raise the minimum clock speed?
I have no lag at all. My note 2 is faster then my g3

It's not lag so much as it is a delay. On my Razr, there's no delay between pushing the power button and the screen coming on. There is a delay on the Note 2 of around a second between pushing the button and the screen coming on.
I don't think it's the lockscreen. I don't see a difference when I turn it off. My guess is the little bit of lag is for hardware reasons.
I've read that this is due to S-Voice waiting for input before the screen completely wakes up. Go into S-Voice and find the setting to wait for input on wake or something similar and turn that off. Lag should be fixed...dont have the phone yet and already giving advice, lol.

No such option at all.
There is a setting within S-Voice, just google it...im too lazy but there's even a video on YouTube of someone explaining it...

Went into s voice and there was nothing about that in there. Just wake on command and thats all.

This video is for home button lag not lockscreen lag. Plu my s voice was all ready disable by home button. This thread is for lockscreen lag/delay not home button.
The Fix for me
Here is what i found turn off s-voice this what i found to fix the lag i think it is running waiting for the wake voice command
do turn it off if you dont use it did and it did the trick it is in the apps drawer so dont look for it in the settings
I thought this was generally accepted to be due to the phone entering a deep sleep and shutting off the CPU cores, thus the delay in waking up the processor and thus the display.
Will do further testing around forced wake locks and hold cpu states.
i disabled the lock screen...so much better! this phone does not pocket dial, so its not needed anyway imo.
Im looking for a shorcut that will mimic or work the same as the physical power button.
PURPOSE:
1. to save the physical button.
2. to make my phone go into DEEP SLEEP since all apps like screen off dont make my phone go into deep sleep and drain my battery.
3. to make it as a gesture or something like that

+1 and saving power/home button is normal practice on iphone because it's to expensive also difficult to get it replaced.
But for samsung phones, I am not sure if it would be that difficult or expensive.
Thanks for the reply guys, but i found a way, i remap the power button into the soft key

New to all this, and was wondering if there is a way to use something else to wake and put to sleep instead of power button. Looking for help!!! Can someone walk me thru what to do?
If the phone is on and charged you can plug it in to wake the screen and set the screen time out to something like 30 seconds to have it turn off. There is no tap to wake on this device so that maybe your only option.
Tenounce
Thank u for the answer, but cant always be charging. So is there any way to swipe to wake?

No. There is no form of "touch" to wake on the one max. No kernel support for that function. Don't necessarily need to leave it charging just plug in and unplug for the screen to come on

I use this app, a wave over the proximity sensor wakes up the phone and I have it set to go to sleep when I set it down on a flat surface. I also use screen off app when there's no flat surface

if you are willing to root your device, then you can install xposed framework and explore all the wonderful modules that work under the framework. then install the sense 6 toolkit module and enable the "wake with volume buttons" and map double tap on lockscreen and double tap on home and double tap on status bar to "screen off"... done!
