Well I followed this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962575 this is my second time and it worked flawlessly on my first phone but my brand new out of box phone refuses to be rooted. I can get the recovery on but there is quite a few mount errors. When I first boot it gives me E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command. E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log and E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log. Now when I go into show log it starts with I:Skipping execution of extendeddommand, file not found... w: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p17 (so such file or directory) then it repeats the mount errors from before and ends with these two I: can't format unknown volume: /external_sd and I: can't format unknown volume: /emmc. Now I have tried flashing the clean firmware on and that didn't work and was just wondering what I was doing wrong or what I need to do in order to root my phone.
Bump. Anyone please?

Hey guys I am having some issues with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-i800. So the first issue is i tried to install a stock ROM to fix a corrupted cache partition. Now it tries to boot US Cellular. As of this moment the error i get when i put the device in recovery mode goes as follows:
E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
# MANUAL MODE #
E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log
E:copy_kernel_file :: Can't open /cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log
E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log

E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
I am wondering if i can just create a new partition on a new SD card? i bought this device on ebay a couple weeks ago and i don't want to continue attempting sketchy leads for fear of hard bricking it. All help is greatly appreciated. I really don't want to give up on this thing because i feel like the soultion is out there... I am very good with performing commands via command prompt if that is nessasary, also i have access to an Ubuntu 12.4 computer if that would make things easier? Please help?
***Also as far as i know this is equipped with android Froyo and the issue developed after the previous user attempted to update. Please email me a reply or reply to my post.
***And if there is a better place to post this please let me know as I could not find a forum specific to my device.
Thanks,

did u find anything helpful around here?? cuz im in the same situation.
I woke up this morning and my phone was at the first HTC screen (the white one).
This is rooted.
I am using CMW 6.0.3.2 so I was going to try and clear the cache thinking something was wrong...
Right when it opens up it says:
Code:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Then, when I go to the 'wipe cache partition', I get:
Code:
Formatting /cache...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p33
Cache wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
That's odd....so I went to factory reset:
Code:
Formatting /data...
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
Formatting /cache...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p33
Formatting /sd-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Is my phone hosed or is there something else I can try?
Same problem here.
Had you solved ?
I can't do nothing in Odin too.
Tried to apply PIT file or CF-Root again, but both "FAIL!" with message: "Complete(Write) operation failed."
My phone is a samsung s3 i9300 , and started with the same problem as yours, when i woke up.

I have not solved yet. I saw some posts about maybe installing a different recovery and trying to overwrite the partition information.
Everything I see suggests the EMMC chip died
I'm trying to install the rom miui in my neken n6
First I rooted the phone successfully, after I installed "rua1 autoCWM v5.5.0.4 for neken n6".
The problem is when I restart in recovery mode I get some errors in the beginning:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
If I try to wipe data/factory reset i get:
"
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p7
Formatting /cache...
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p6
Formatting /sd-ext...
No app2sd partition found. Skipping format of /sd-ext.
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
"
If I go to "mounts and storage" anything that I try to mount also gives error.
I restart the phone and nothing changed, all the data is still there.
Any help would be very very appreciated
Thanks

Hello. First I was using the cyanogenmod firmware 5.1. One day my phone just restart and stay freeze at the Galaxy S3 Logo. I tried lot of methods like flashing another roms, stock roms, etc via ODIN and all of them seens to work fine but... it didnt. When my phone restart and beging the self installation process it give me an Error always the same error with any ROM.
P.S.: I cant join recovery but i CAN join the download mode obviously.
Heres the ERROR:
# Manual Mode #

Plz i tried lot of firmware, i didnt try any PIT file yet cuz im not familiarized with it
I actually tried with this: GT-I9300XXUGMJ9_KOR_FACTORY but only 4 files inside, theres any PIT so i flashed the 4 in the packet with odin 3.07 and the same problem the phone stop the self installation and show me that BIG RED ERROR (Any ODIN ERROR during the process.)
P.S. Srry for my bad english.
Okay, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Vibrant T959V, Flashed this kernel, form this video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV_MkUCAKuo) from CWM. As soon as I did it rebooted to a newer CWM but It count not mount /Cache. Now nothing works I cant get into download mode ore flash my old kernel or anything. How do I fix this? Please Help me.
