Stock 4.3 nandroid - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Here is a link to twrp backup of stock 4.3. Not sure if it will work if used in twrp cause for some reason all files won't upload, but it has some useful file someone can use. https://db.tt/g1Yrs1HK
I am not responsible to any damage caused to your phone. These files I posted should only be used by devs.

If you put it in a zip, it should upload correctly. Instead of uploading each file individually. :good:

I tried to zip it from the phone but it still didn't include all the files. Also copying to computer only copied 2 files.

The only usable file in there is the kernel (boot.img). The rest are just md5 files and a log file.

Guess this shall be fitting for my first post give me an hour and ill have a CWM Back up uploaded shortly, been following the forums for half a year learning before i decided to start my series of small contributions

[Q] [HELP] How to create update-script?

Hope I've posted in the correct section
Hi guys,
How to I go about creating an update-script? Over the past few days I'be been cooking my own ROM (it's a port from the Incredible S dumps) and creating the update script is the last step before I test the ROM out and if it works, uploading to the Android Development forum.
I'm using a Nexus One btw.
So, could any assist me?
Thanks,
redbullcat
I tried to make my own the other day, and I found a helpful thread on the commands you can use for it. Ill try and find the link then update here.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641223
This one is for update-scripts but I imagine there's not that much difference, correct me if I'm wrong. There does seem to be other commands for the same things in updater-script.
Another suggestion is to look at existing updater-scripts and see what makes them tick. They are quite self explanitory, nice and easy to read.

You can take an update script from another custom rom, i think.
Don't forget to sign and do nandroid.

You could also do this, but depending on what the custom rom changes you may need to change things in there, maybe not.

Porting ROMs from other devices?

I asked this over in Android General and I was pointed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
Could anyone confirm if this would allow porting of a ROM like HTC Sense to the Xperia?
I posted this here as I reckon that if it is indeed possible, it could be of some use to the dev community in here. If not, mods can delete this
Our phone only has 480mb internal storage.
HTC Sense is well over 1gb just for the ROM.
Sent from R800x
that's wron
a normal sense 4.0a rom needs 420mb system partition
our is only 300mb.
so we need to decrease the zip (remove apps) and move some apps to /data in zip.
then symlink /data
and then we can go porting it
I would use a Sense 4 rom , I'm going to mess around later lol.

Remember, you can only use a ROM for a device on the same Arm as Xperia Play.
I'm gonna have a look at messing around with the HTC One S firmware
ok, i will make a thread for a sense 4 port

Sorting out permissions on the HTC One S Cyanogenmod ROM. Hopefully, with some luck, I should be good to go by the end of the night

I'll report back if anything works....I hope *gulp*

I know what the error is. I need to jump into Linux to unpack the kernel and edit the init.rc file (Only possible on Linux).
Going to flash back to MIUI temporarily to move the files onto my SD card to shift them onto Linux. Going to do that a bit later on as Im going to be a bit busy. If I get anything working I'll PM you and Dropbox the ROM for you to try If all comes back working, I'll release it to the general users
This will hopefully be my first ROM development
Tried again and can't get past the kernel screen.
Back to the drawing board. Gonna try a Samsung CM7 build now
Having no luck with this. Any devs with more knowledge than me feel free to take over

Same thing happens with the arc rom I'm trying to port. Did you edit the boot class path?
Sent from my Xperia Play using Tapatalk 2
miui arc rom should boot when you edit all the audio libs (in /lib/hw the first 4 files and in /lib all files with libaudio...)
don't need to edit the rest to get it booting

How to build a Touch Recovery

Feel free to move this thread if it is on the wrong place.
Hello everybody, I'm here because of the HTC Touch HD, aphone that shipped with WinMo, but luckily we got a working NAND ROM (like a nativa android phone). We also have a CWM recovery (obviously) Version 5.[something].
I want to do them a suprise and build a touch recovery, so I need your help. Can somebody tell me how to do this or just give me a link to a tutorial since I couldn't find any?
Thank you for reading ,
mfsr98
The easiest way to go about it...and the only way I know, so might not be the easiest...is to get a cyanogenmod working directory up.add your device and kernel trees, then replace bootable/recovery with a cwm touch recovery source or a twrp source....
Here's a how to for twrp: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23903-how-to-compile-twrp-from-source/
BTW twrp is a touch screen themeable recovery with a nice ui

That guide is pretty detailed, this is heavy development to port to a phone, not like reading the directions on how to play monopoly. You replied in 5 mins to the post, unless you were pressing f5, and are a super reader, you didn't even read the documentation he linked you too.
How about you help yourself first before wasting our time.

Depending on the connection speed....it can take hours for the first sync...I usually run it over night so I just sleep through the time it downloads everything...

Could you please send me the source code too? If I can verify that it works safely and well, I can go ahead and recommend this post in my Bootloop fix guide .
Edit: The OP has not given me the source yet, however I went ahead and checked the file myself. The MD5 checksums of the modified 4 core files in the zip are identical to the ones I posted, so that's good. I decompiled the exe in dotPeek, and I found no malicious code in it, however, my knowledge of C and dissembling is limited, so that does not mean this file is guaranteed to be safe. But I doubt that this is malicious.
Unfortunately, this file has old files from before the core utilization fix, so I wouldn't recommend using it just for the reason that your device will be very slow. This has great potential though, and if OP maintains it, it could be very viable.
This post has actually inspired me to make a similar program, as many people could benefit from this, and I want to learn C as well, so a project like this would be a great start for me.

Sorry, I was out of town and didn't have access to my computer, btw the code is in C#, I'm sending the code to you right now.
Hey, super excited to try this, as I've been having some issues with the original fix.
For some reason, I get to "is you phone in recovery mode" (Y) and then the application closes. any thoughts?
So far all the "fixing methodes" did nothing....only twrp I was able to run on my nexus6p....I'd like to try this method too but I can't download the files.....I don't use google drive...the browser is trying to download but after 2 seconds....error...?
