I don't get it - AT&T boasts simultaneous calls and data, yet as soon as I get a call on the One X+, LTE drops and changes to HSPA+ (4G-LTE icon changes to 4G), but even on HSPA+ there's no Internet.
LTE and data return as soon as I hang up.
I'm running a stock AT&T One X+ here. What gives?
That's how it works. Voice over LTE I believe and regular data

I wasn't aware it was using VoLTE? But either way, why don't I have an HSPA+ connectivity when this happens?
My hox+ (AT&T) switches from 4G LTE to 4G while on a call. Internet also works fine while on the call.

I have no problems accessing the internet while on a call. I haven't noticed if it's LTE or not. I'll have to check next time.

It's nothing to do with AT&T. Unless the 4G device is different from the international version. It's not a class A device. This would be required for simultaneous Data & voice connections.

Well, damn. I'm close to dumping the One X+ for the Note II, which is a superior device. We'll see how the Note II behaves.

Same here, I have no problem using voice and data at the same time. Never noticed LTE dropping or anything... But I'm not usually doing anything with data that requires lots of speed when I'm on a call.

Are you sure you guys aren't on Wi-Fi when doing these tests?
VoLTe is not yet live on AT&T's network. It is normal to drop back to HSPA+ data, however the throughout is pretty terrible when this happens. Mine works, just very slowly to say the least. I work with AT&T and they are aware of it, but don't expect it to be resolved until VoLTE goes live (unfortunately though, it won't be supported on One X+).

I know for a fact that I wasn't on wifi the last time I did it.
I can say without a doubt i can use both with wifi off. I am on Telus however so this must be a AT&T issue.
I have a question about my 4G issue. The only time i can get 4G is when I select 4G only in the command settings, but then i don't have voice services. Is there a fix or a know issue about this issue im having? This happens with any rom i flash.:crying:

Weird thing that I have noticed is,
I have perfect LTE (25MBps up) when I run Stock Android 4.2. CyanogeMod 10.1
Any Sense Rom I run it has no LTE. When I select CDMA/LTE it won't connect to Data at all. When I select CDMA it will connect to 3G.
I hate it and have never found a fix for it. So I am stuck on 10.1 with not a lot of updates. Which is fine, but I like to switch back to Sense everyone once in a while and when I do I am forced to use only 3G.

No, if I remember correctly you're picking up sprint lte, it just thinks it's verizon or whatever carrier you're roaming on.
Also, OP, have you tried switching to another phone, then switching back? I know that sounds weird but my brother was having data issues on his virgin mobile phone and that's how he fixed the issue lol

No. Your 2G network which controls voice is roaming. However your phone has an established 4G network connection. Sort of like being on wifi and roaming. Your calls go through the 2G network while the data is being handled by your wifi/4G. Those signal bars are strictly for your 2G connection. 3G and 4G have their own connection which is not viewable unless you dig into ## settings from dial pad. Sprint don't have any 4G roaming agreements with any other carrier.

It's been more than a month and it's stuck on Edge. Even when I go to the areas where I would have a strong signal of 4G, it doesn't change into 4G! This is really bugging me. My phone is S-ON, bootloader unlocked, and running Viper Amaze 1.7.0.1. Oh yeah, and T-Mobile is my carrier!

I usually set my phone to GSM Only when I go out, because it saves a lot of battery and still lets me stay connected to the internet.

Me too. Your friend's Verizon LTE was slow likely due to tower congestion. That's when too many people are on the tower and the bandwidth becomes tiny and people get slow data. I hope it doesn't happen to future T-mobile LTE,
My galaxy S6 is stuck on Edge as network type and it refuses to get out of GSM Only even if I try to set preferred network type. I can see the other network types displayed but when I press them it switches back immediately to GSM Only
Hey guys, I have an AT&T one x+ which I had carrier unlocked. I tried a few different sim cards while I was in the US, including my UK pay-as-you-go sim from 3 and all worked fine. However, now that I'm back in the UK I'm finding that the phone can't find any network. Anyone know why? Do I have to flash a different radio or something?

Check the compatible radio frequencies of your HOX+ with those of 3. I'm guessing that there not compatible though..... Unfortunately you can flash all the radio's you want but it won't change a thing. The frequencies are hard coded into the chipset. The reason it worked in the US, is because you was using a UK sim, but roaming on a compatible US network. Maybe you could try an EE sim, There the only 4G network in the UK right now, maybe there using more compatible frequencies.

As far as I know: 3 operates on the UMTS 2100 MHz frequency in the uk, and according to the specs on the AT&T website, the one x+ is capable of operating on this frequency. I tried my sisters EE sim card and had the same problem. I'm wondering if it's something in my settings.

I'm using Viper rom version 2.0, but have the same problem with stock rom when I reverted back to an old nandroid backup. I did upgrade to the new RUU that AT&T pushed out a couple of months back. Could that be the cause? More importantly, is there anything I can do to fix it? Could it be something as simple as a setting I have to change?
Thanks for your help, guys.

Ok, I finally figured it out!
I went into the hidden phone diagnostics options (press *#*#4636#*#*) and selected "Phone information". On the next screen under the menu options in the top right corner is "Select radio bands", clicked that and then selected "Automatic" instead of "USA only". I then removed and reinserted the sim card and it found the network. Managed to get data working by manually entering the correct APN settings.
BOOM, there goes the dynamite.
Hope that helps anyone else trying to use their AT&T One X+ abroad.

It won't work either for one of two reasons
First it works strictly thru tmobile SIM card , even tho you get tmo lte
Second the WiFi calling error means that you have to add update 911 address under your My T-Mobile account and then it works
I don't believe using a metro SIM In any tmo Device will get WiFi calling ever ,mainly cause it's alot to do with the tmo sim service the Main reachable service is still metro towers that's why .

I am wanting to set this up too. Metro PCS has good service in my area but they said they're having trouble with the GSM phones connecting to their 4G LTE network. T-Mobile's voice and text work great where I'm at and my brother is on Metro with one of their CDMA phones and his service works well. I literally just got my HTC One today and so far at my house I'm only getting 'G' which I assume is 1x or Edge service correct? When I reboot the phone and it initially connects to 4G and then drops it. I'm wondering if I take it to Metro and have them put it on their network if the 4G will work better? I wouldn't think it would impact it that much though. I have 30 days to try it out before I lose out on being able to return it and I'm all about saving money so switching to Metro is a big deal to me but I need my 4G too!

I'm now on T-Mobile Gsm and LTE network under Nokia but with Metropcs Account. 2 different networks, so that means when you where on MetroPCS cdma and LTE you where on their original lte footprint with Ericsson lte sites, tmobile is planning to unite Metropcs lte with tmobile Nokia lte. But it will take some time.
