Hi guys,
just got my new phone and unfortunately i had to realize, that there are some apps i cant install.
I know that this issue depends on my Playstore, so i want to install a custom playstore with no restrictions.
Did this many times on other phones and never got problems.
But this time there is a problem:
I can install the modded version of the playstore without any problems. But it self-updates every time and i cant do anything against.
In the Last android versions there was a "Market Updater" App, which you could just freeze to avoid this.
But in my Android 4.2.2 theres no such app.
Any Ideas how i can prevent the Playstore from updating?

Dude you sure about that, I mean if you have knowledge how to install custom play store than you must have the basic knowledge from where to disable the auto update feature.
goto play store>settings>Auto update apps select here none.
After this you will have to manually update all your apps that you want.
Sorry if I misinterpreted your query..
Press thanks button on the left side of my post.

that's not for the update for the playstore itself, that's for the apps that you download with it

i think you can just download 1 of the versions in the bottom of the post, and just rename it to vending.apk or phonesky.apk and push it to /system/app (just replace the original vending.apk or phonesky.apk) (and backup your original file)
hm...but how? if i click on one of those links i get referred to another Posts where it only shows MD5 sums

which phone do you use by the way? cause it could also be that the apps you miss are incompatible with the phone.
there is however, an app that also appears to be able to remove the restrictions (i think with a proxy of some kind), this app is mostly used for apps unavailable in certain countries.

you know you can just turn off auto updating through the market, and can't you just uninstall google books, i did that to mine
There are a couple of ways to accomplish this.
The simple ways is to use an application like

If you have S-OFF you should be able to uninstall it with a special program like the one Shawn80 posted. If you do not have S-OFF, then you can't use that program. Instead you need to put your phone in recovery mode, connect the device to a computer, and use adb to uninstall Google Books.
Google Books was part of the Google apps (gapps) package, not CM7. I also don't like to install Google Books, so what I've done in the past is to simply remove the Google Books apk file from the gapps zip file before putting it on my SD card to flash. The idea is to never install Google Books in the first place, which tends to be a lot less complicated than trying to uninstall it later.
However that isn't necessary anymore. The latest gapps release (20110828) does not include Google Books.

Unfortunately even if you disable auto-update, it will still bug you constantly that an update is available.
I do have S-off and i am going to try "root uninstall". Just wondering if there is a way to remove whole gapps?

Yeah but that means you wouldn't even have access to the Android Market. Is that really what you want?
The easiest way is to go into recovery, format your system partition, then install CM7 ROM again. Don't wipe anything. After rebooting you'll need to uninstall any updates to those apps, I believe, to have them really disappear.
If you use a custom kernel or anything else that you installed via flashing through recovery, you'll have to do it again.
Just a suggestion, but I went without having the market for a while.
What I did was install market and download what applications/games I knew I wanted ( or couldn't live without) .
I noticed a while back that whenever I downloaded anything from the market the .apk's would be saved on /mnt/sdcard/App_Manager/App_Backups.
Then I would just reinstall CM7 without gapps. Then fire up file manager and navigate to /mnt/sdcard/App_Manager/App_Backups and install the apk's. The only downside is no updates.

Does anyone have a link to find the Apps that have been Removed from the Android Market?
I'm just curious cause a bunch of apps that I've been using, seem to all of a sudden not show up when I search for them in the Market!
Thanxx in Advance...
I was once trying to find a particular game's backup program that I had used to make a backup (and now I wanted to restore) ... I went through hundreds of google results to no avail - I don't think there is a general solution to this. Perhaps there are legal ramifications? All of the third-party app trackers that I found didn't have removed apps, or did and just linked to google's (not working) download location. I think the key is to always use something like Titanium Backup! That way you can always get your apps back.

It's pretty straightforward, there are several apps that do this. You can search in Baidu.com for Gapps and the apk will show up. Install it, press the big button and there you go. You can also find several tutorials in Youtube, if you don't know how the app looks like.
Alternatively, here's another tutorial with a different app: http://en.miui.com/thread-17910-1-1.html
somehow i'm able to install Gapps using the installer, i don't know what i did to fix it, anyway its all good now, btw the link you gave is for device that is not bootloader locked
The minimum set of Gapps are very easy to install with the help of this tiny online installer. It's in Chinese, but it's intuitive.

Same here first time, but removed Google*, installed them again and it started working. I rebooted after Google login, Xunlei engine was disabled and download limit set to Unlimited.
it seem that after you login to playstore, you need to wait for a while for it to sync in order for you to be able to download apps, otherwise you'll get unable to contact server error message

the google installer worked to install the apps but they couldn't establish a connection to the servers. I had to restore my playstore and google apps from a titanium backup file I had and then it would work. So anyone not able to get on google apps try installing old titanium backups, it may work.
One thing to note with all of these is sometimes it just needs time.
After all, the play services and framework often have to register with Google and also update themselves (you're not guaranteed to get the most up to date version for each even with the installer).
I installed mine and they registered fine. But as soon as I tried to download an app from the play store I got weird errors.
Left it a day and boom, worked fine.
Hi All:
Quick question: have you ever seen something like this? A software update that does not say what's the app or operating system to be updated and who is the publisher?
When I click the back arrow to the left of "Software Update", there isn't any other user interface. I am simply sent to the home page of my cell.
Is there any way to completely remove this package? From where?
Thank you very much! As a new user, I can't post links to screen captures, but you can just add http to the front of these:

Is this really a system update then it can be official but if not then it is probably a malware
Go to system settings< about phone<system update and check weather there is really an update or not. If yes, then it is official but if no, then you will have to uninstall the malware using some root removal apps available on play store abundantly
Also check u have not given root permissions to whatsapp and zygote since both if them are malwares which probably ask root access as soon as your device is rooted

I found the same update when selecting "system settings< about phone<system update".
My phone has YouTube version 12.16.16 installed when the newest version in the Play Store is 12.19.56.
However the YouTube page in the play store does not show an Update button, just an Open button.
I downloaded the latest version APK, but I'm getting an "App not installed" error message while trying to install the APK.
After doing some google searching I reset app preferences, cleared cache of the Play Store and the Play Services apps and restarted the phone. Afterwards I'm still getting an error while installing the APK.
Any advice?

When I disable YouTube it just gets disabled. I do not get asked any questions. I still do not know how to get updates.
Anybody has an advice?
Not any app should be disabled. It's hard to tell as we don't know all modifications you did to your system. It seems to be working for everyone.

You have no idea what I'm talking about obviously
On earlier versions (not sure about on O), when you disable it'll ask you if you want to uninstall updates. You can then re-enable and reinstall the updates.

If you don't want root, flash twrp with fastboot, boot to twrp recovery, mount system, use twrpfilemanager to delete YouTube, use twrp to install stock recovery.img, boot system and install YouTube from playstore.
First you can try to download YouTube.apk from apkmirror.com and try updating manually.
Edit, sry you tried that already.
Good luck, root makes life easier

What I am saying is that no apps should be disabled (not only YouTube) and that finally a factory reset would solve the problem.

Twice you quote my whole post but only answer the part you are interested in.
The suggestion that I gave after yours to re-enable all apps is valid whatever you say and includes your ''two seconds fix''.... I brought this to his attention because he's still asking for help.
So if your fix doesn't work OP can try this and ultimately factory reset.
Wow I don't intend to explain 3 times a so simple post. Take your time to read...
