Good Morning,
I like many unfortunate people restored my Samsung Galaxy S3 to factory settings thinking that it had a micro sd card, i was so wrong and to think i lost all my pictures, contacts etc. I was told by a good friend that it was possible to retrieve this data and to read the help guides in XDA Developers Forum.
Well, i was reading and learning how to do this by the help of Wartickler Post. I managed to install all the files, root my s3 and made sure my phone connected in ADB mode.
Now, On the second part of the tutorial is where i am getting problems, My mobile is connected in USB Debugging Mode, ADB Mode. My mobile has Busybox Installed via playstore, the ver is 1.20.2 and the install is /system/bin.
I open Crywin Terminal, enter the code "adb forward tcp:5555 tcp:5555", then "adb shell", i also enter "SU" for superuser then i am prompted with 1|[email protected]:/ #. I then enter the command "/system/bin/busybox nc -1 -p 5555 -e /system/bin/busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12" i get the following error, nc: invalid option --1

Can someone please tell me if i have went wrong anywhere as i feel i am close to completing it
Much Appreciated
Stuart Grahame
You post a link to instructions for a different device, which probably uses a different partition structure hence why the failure.
I'd guess you'll need to work out which partition holds the internal storage on the s3, not sure how successful any data recovery would be but I wish you good luck.
Just read general > sticky roll-up thread > s3 storage data recovery.
Everything you need to know is there. No need for duplicate thread

Hello all, I'm pretty new to all of this. I only recently rooted/flashed a ROM for the first time, and I'm just kind of learning as I go. I really want to flash Eugene's Hybrid r3 ROM now that the mms issue is fixed, but I don't know how to apply the lag fix. What I'm really asking is if anyone has any instrustions or a link to information for a true beginner on how to access adb shell and apply the fix. I've got an entire evening of free time on my hands, and I decided it'd be a good day to learn this =]
Google droid explorer on your comp... It will set up adb for you... An easy guide can be found by googling "adb for dummies"
This entrails a lot of reading but the rewards are tremendous.. Good luck
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
alright, I'll get to it! thanks!
first startes you will need the drivers here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
and the android SDK here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
PM me if you need help
Try YouTube & Google theso are two places I learned mostly everything. That's my recommendation... If u don't find the answer here.
You could also do it via a terminal app on your phone... I would kind of suck using the touchscreen to input the data but its do able.
if you want to try it via terminal do this.
- DL "terminal emulator" from market

}
- open app and grant SU access
- input the lagfix info but leave out the first line "adb shell" of each step and start with "su"
One thing to note about droid explorer. Its a great tool and will setup adb for you, just make sure you have busybox installed on your phone. To ensure you have the latest busybox DL the "busybox" app from the market
Alright, thanks Sykes! I'll give it a shot!
I just wanted to say thanks again to you all. Sykes, I used the terminal app you described and it worked great! It took me a couple of tries, mainly because I'm very very new to all of the command prompt stuff, and hacking in general. But now the Hybrid R3 is running extremely fast and smooth. My past few benchmarks on quadrant have all been 2100+!!
Phone Model: Nec N-06C
Firmware version: 2.3.3
What I used and have installed: SuperOneClick and SDK manager installed
According to the thread from previous asking for the root method for N-04C, I tried to use SuperOneClick to root my phone, and the program actually stucks everytime like the pic...whenever I hit ROOT or SHELL ROOT.

if the picture does not show up...it is just saying
Description ADB cmd type time Result
Killing ADB server KillServer 3.76s
Starting ADB server Startserver 4.62s *daemon not running. starting it...
It does not proceed any further after showing [Starting ADB server] and the whole program just freezes.
Could anyone help me with it? I hope I could root the phone and clear some pre-installed apps that takes up too much room in the phone- -.
Try another tool to root, like GingerBreak or z4root

HI, Do you have the stock ROM for this phone? Can you please upload the ftf somewhere?

Hi, I have a problem, I keep receiving subscription ads requests, it seems that it is from my cellphone company, since you can see the sim image in there but I am not sure. This are some examples:

}
Background info: (running Android 6.01, 26.3.B.0.131)
So I used to be on a cell phone company which had this subcription ads request (Movistar), but I changed to another one which they say they do not have any of that (Tuenti), with the same number, and they are both owned by the same company (Otecel), so maybe some settings from the old operator were kept in the new ones, I have talk and talk and talk with them, and i just keep receiving this ads.
Is Root the solution?
Maybe if root my device, I can disable the sim services app, or I do not know something else, and I would not receive this ads again, or what do you guys recommend me.
Hello, have you tried to 'adb hide' or 'adb disable' the STK apk? No root required AFAIK

No, I have not tried not, because I do not know how to do it, could you please teach me , please noob steps
Sorry for being so late haha.
I'll assume you're using Windows 7 or newer.
Steps:
- Get ADB and proper drivers for your devices (Flashtool ships with all of this)
- Enable dev settings on your phone
- Enable USB debugging. Disregard all warnings
- Connect your Xperia to your PC via USB cable
- Wait for drivers to install
- Open a terminal/command prompt on your PC, point it to a directory where you have an ADB executable (adb.exe) (you can do this by opening the flashtool libs folder, eg: c:\flashtool\x10flasherlib, and right-clicking anywhere on the window while keeping the SHIFT key pressed)
- Issue the following command:
-- adb devices
Your phone should ask for authorization now. Grant it
- Issue the following command(s):
-- adb shell (this gives you access to your device's terminal from your PC)
-- pm disable com.android.stk
If the above command fails, try:
-- pm hide com.android.stk
- You're done
You can avoid using a PC by using a terminal emulator on your device AFAIK. I might be wrong though.
Hello all,
I've been flashing rooms on the phone for quite a while now, but last weekend i flashed a new CM14.1 ROM onto the phone with the new GAPPS with it. Before doing this i ofcourse wiped the needed partitions in order for them to work right. However, since i've done this and flashed the new software, the phone doenst have access to the internal storage while being booted into the system (OS)..
When i boot into TWRP, i have full access to the internal storage and i'm able to create new folders and copy/cut/paste files onto it. Down here, you see i've created a new folder using the PC while its booted in TWRP.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When i try to do this while its booted in CM14.1 (android 7.1.1, but i think any ROM i'd flash) this happens:
To translate this from Dutch to English: "The new folder couldn't be created on this location. The device isn't responding anymore or the connection has been lost".
When i browse to the internal storage through the OS itself, it does show up. However, i dont have any access to create new folders or files or to change them:
Also when i try to take a picutre using the camera, it says this:
Even when i enable developer options and giving root to both apps and adb, it still doesnt have the required access to perform these actions:
Also going to the gallery, it says that there is no storage available:
I also looked up some info about the partition, which might be useful for those who have some knowledge about this.. This is what i found using the app "Diskinfo":
And i also used the commands ls -l to show the permissions of the /data/media/(and)0/ to see what rights are giving out:
As you see here, the app itself didnt have access to go to the storage location untill i gave it "su" rights. Does this mean the entire OS doesnt have access to this location because it simply doesnt have the right permissions for it?
If anyone has any suggestions or wants to help me figure out what is wrong, please feel free to reply here or through a PM. It would be highly appreciated.
///Edit
After searching around on the web i came across a post where someone said that running the TWRP advanced option "Fix Context" would reset all permissions that you normally dont do yourself. So i've ran that, it ran for like 0.5 second before being finished. After rebooting the phone into the system (OS/Android) all problems were solved and permissions were set right.
Therefore my problem is resolved now, and this topic could be closed ^^
hey guys,
hope you are doing fine so far.
a few days ago I rebooted my phone bc I thought this would be a good idea. I do not do that very often.
then this message appeared on the screen:
CUSTOM BINARY BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK and now it is stuck in here:
red: ODIN MODE, DOWNLOAD SPEED FAST

I would like to backup some directories via adb shell before I reinstall my rom. Best way would be to not lose any data and bring it back to life as it was.
BUT: adb does not show any deivce no matter what I do.
what I did:
Windows: I installed the drivers, adb (also tried 2 tools from xda), created adb_usb.ini in %user%\.android (for correct vendor ID)
Linux(latest Ubuntu LTS):
1. installed adb
2. lsusb shows: Bus 001 Device 008: ID 04e8:685d Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone [Galaxy S II] (Download mode)
what is a bit confusing, bc I got a S7 as mentioned before.
3. defined usb rules: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="04e8", ATTR{idProduct}=="685d", MODE=="0666", GROUP=="plugdev"
in /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules (I had to create the file).
4. changed vendor file: /home/user/.android/adb_user.ini
0x04e8 (same as in Windows).
5. reloaded adb rules, restarted udev and adb service and until now I restarted the computer a few times.
still no devices shown via "adb devices".
I cannot change any preferences within my rom bc it won't start. recovery mode does not work, too.
ROM: Project Alice 2.0 (2017-09)
Recovery: TWRP (I do not remember exactly which version, but must be latest 2017-09, probably twrp-3.1.1-0-herolte)
SU: SR3-SuperSU v2.82
is there someone out who can help me with this mess? I would appreciate that much!!! nearly crying here...
PS: atm I have to use an iphone... so please be aware that I am really (!) desperate to get my phone back
Solution
no answers so far ^^
BUT in case s.o. needs help at this point, I found a solution that helped me.
found a gem on Youtube. I am not allowed to post links thus I am too new here...
Just search for "Flash official Android 8.0 Oreo Firmware on S7/S7 edge (WITHOUT FACTORY RESET??✔)"
--> flash a new ROM via Odin with the HOME_CSC file.
that got my phone back to life without wiping my data.
hlppp
no work..
