Confused.. - HTC Desire X

i am facing a strange touchscreen issue for over 2 months, my screen keeps on auto touching itself, & the strange thing about it is that it only happens whenever mobile packet data connection is on, if it is off, every thing works fine,& one more thing which is more strange is that there is one sim card with which everything works fine, no problem at all, if i put any other sim besides that sim card, it comes back again,,,,,any ideas about it,,& what i am really confused about is that is it hardware or software issue, because if it was hardware issue, it was supposed to do the same thing all the time, why is that one SIM working fine while others are not????

Have you formatted phone?

you should consider claiming hardware warranty. No point in wasting time. Get it replaced, or in case warranty expired, get it repaired.

I was just thinking about it, still under warranty but this thing is rooted..

Well you could take a chance by locking your bootloader, running a RUU to back to stock and using this method to changed the "RELOCKED" status in the bootloader to "LOCKED"

This method you linked to is not permanent, just temporary... if you you reboot the device, it will be relocked again. At least that's what I understood...

That's too bad.
@RishiChhikkara Have you tried running an RUU? Perhaps your radio is faulty which an RUU could fix.

RUU's are for ICS only, Where I can Find One For JB?

Could it be Kernel related ?. Also I seemed to get it less on Certian Roms but alot more on ICS Roms

Hi,
I had the same problem. Started when I put a new sim in my phone. I tried all means to figure out the problem.
Finally gave up.
The connection b/w sim and display is still a mystery.

[Q] Could I have fried my WiFi chip somehow?

I don't know what happened. All of a sudden, my phone's WiFi functionality is totally shot.
No access points are detected, and when I try to switch WiFi on and off again, the phone locks up and reboots.
The last time I had flashed something was a week ago. I haven't even downloaded any new apps recently.
I was on jokersax's CM9 0.6.9.2 and 1.0 GHz kernel. After wiping data/cache, re-flashing joker's CM9, upgrading joker's CM9 to 0.6.9.3, and switching to faux's latest 1.0 GHz kernel, the problem persists.
Could I possibly have fried the WiFi chip on this thing somehow? It sounds crazy, but there were virtually no software changes made to the device prior to the incident.
Have you a nandroid backup of a rom with working wifi? I had same problem several times and restoring a backup with it working has always fixed mine.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
I had the same. Mine just kept getting worse, until the phone kept rebooting at every phone call, and eventually every few minutes. Called warranty, and the said it is well documented problem and replaced both of my atrix phones. They said it was a hardware issue.

That's unfortunate. Well, at least I know I'm not an isolated case.
So after charging overnight, WiFi worked for like 5 minutes, then proceeded to cut out again and continually reboot the phone until I turned off WiFi.
I would just send it to Moto, but of course their refurb/replacement units are bootloader locked... I doubt they'll even replace an unlocked device.
Looks like I'm screwed.

I mean, the problem just started randomly; I was running that version of CM9 for a week already, so I doubt the ROM is the issue. I suppose I can try, though (if I even have a recent nandroid backup...heh)
Mine was unlocked and rooted. Just flash the latest sbf, and send it in. That returns it to locked stock.

He's saying he doesn't want to get a replacement back that has a locked un-unlockable bootloader. That's been happening lately.

Yeah, that's the main reason.
So it seems Wi-Fi isn't 100% toasted. After a few cycles of toggle on, toggle off, toggle on, toggle off, lockup and reboot, toggle off, toggle on, lockup and reboot, toggle on, etc., I can end up connecting to Wi-Fi. It works, but then locks up and reboots after some amount of time (5-10 minutes usually) and then it doesn't connect anymore.
I don't know how, but maybe this could be a software issue? Could some system file that governs Wi-Fi have gotten corrupted somehow by some random process? Is there some system file I should check? Maybe flash a radio? I don't know.
All I know is that I'm gonna easily blow through my 2GB cap if I don't remedy this somehow.
(EDIT: My Smart Keyboard Pro settings got randomly wiped about the same time this started happening, but I have no idea how that could relate...)
EDIT2: Well, never mind, I found the thread in the Dev forum that has a bunch of people talking about this issue. Case closed, I guess, to some extent.
I unlocked the bootloader of the new phone. So, seems to me it is the way to go. Let them send you the new phone. Had to combine a few of the unlock methods, but everything is fine.

That makes two of us then. Its still worth a try, because you can't hardly use the phone the way it is. At least with warranty you get a new one. If you are worried about bricking it leave it alone. At least it is useable.

[Problem]Call Hang's after approximately 30 seconds

Well, my galaxy s2 is hanging calls, after I've flashed a official Samsung ROM. The calls hang after 30 seconds or less, sometimes it lasts more, but always hangs. The phone was with MIUI when I got it, but I don't like this ROM, so I'vs flashed an official ROM for my country, and then updated with KIES to ICS, and the problem started. I've tryed flashing CM7, CM9 and get back to MIUI, but the problem persists. Any idea of what can I do to solve this? Could it be a modem issue?
Sorry for the bad english
I observe two points
1. WRONG SECTION!!
2. Call hangs probably of two reason one is software or a buggy power key. U told u flashed CM series but still problem persists means u must hav device wit buggy key.. Is the key working properly??
3. Sometimes The signal drops also cause call hangup.. So try different modem. Is it a network locked phone?

Hmm interesting.. Check the golden contact points of the sim card and try removing the External SD if any.
My friend had a similar issue and the Android OS was freezing just because of the External SD card which was over heating. Later we found that the SD card was faulty and removing it fixed the problem.

Maybe this is a silly question but, did you try calling from different places? I mean, it happens to my girlfriend, but only when she's calling from here home. She has great signal, but the calls hangs, just like you described, at first it becomes mute, and then the call drops. But if she calls from anywhere else the problem is gone, even with worst signal.

Yeah, I always wipe data and cache after a flash. I've tryed 2 SIM from different operators, same issue...
I've just flashed a stock ROM, and it doesn't seem to be better...
I've tryed some different SIM's today, from another operator (ClaroBR), and the calls haven't droped, but with mine, and other SIM's from other operators, the problem persisted. Any idea? Should it be a base band issue?
Well after all this, I'll say flash a GB Rom from your region using Odin, after full wipe and see what happens. Do not sign in, do not restore any accounts and apps.

I was thinking, a ROM flash could damage a hardware? Because when this problem started, I've changed the ROM again, to CM9 to see if the problem stops. The first flash could've damaged anything?

Important help needed -> Don't know if shutdown or freeze! App breakdown?

Simply putting this, i buyed a SGSII about a month ago, and since then it shutdows or freezes. I don't know what is wrong. I TRADED THE PHONE 3 TIMES!!! And all 3 times the phone has the SAME problem. It random shutdown/freeze(I don't know the difference). Theres almost 0% chance that the Vodafone store has 3 devices with teh exact same problem, when the 3rd SGSII i got(this one) is from a different package then the others....
So I ask here really kindly, who can help me if some1 already had some problem with some application I have installed. I leave here the screenshots of Google Play apps I have installed. Apart that i only have BBS.

Update: Went 2 day again at the store, and they said that some faulty 4G SIM cards where causing problems(didnt specified which ones) and he traded me a new charger - This said, he told me that if problem still occurs to come talk to the sotre manager on monday...
If this helps, maybe it is causing the problem, if someone has this version of Android and reports it giving problems i would apreciate

So I went to Vodafone and first question they made was:
Have you changed your SIM card lately?
I todl them it had ~5years or something.
They said it may be the card.
I asked if this ever hapened.
They said never...
So i asked, if it never hapened why you say its because of SIM card?
---
And that was it. They told before anything I should change SIM and test if it still shuts down...
What you guys think? Anyways I'm gonna change SIM card to 4G one, since now Vodafone is obligating every1 to change, they gonna deactivate the old ones soon... Then i'm gonna see if phone goes down...
I just seems strange the phone goes down cause of SIM card with no signal or something... Anyone knows a answer to this?

Dude, bumping your thread every couple of hours isnt going to achieve anything other then possibly it been closed or deleted.
Firstly people will reply when/if they have something to say. Second its New Years eve, most people are busy. Only reason why I'm not is because I'm not well at the moment so resting.
A sim card wouldnt make your phone shut down, hes talking crap. Also when you say "cant unlock" do you mean network unlock? If so then use the search button, we have plenty of topics on how to unlock network very easily, most/best are a simple app you install from market.
Don't take Vodafone's crap. Demand a replacement as the one they provided is faulty from day 1.
Try without a SIM too, this will prove that is not the problem.
Take Atheists advice and don't bump within a 24hr time frame, especially today/yesterday.

Are you sure on that? Seems they don't want to simply trade the phone, and wanna keep it for tests...
Though, 2 days passed and he doesn't shuts down...
Not entirely sure as I cannot test the phone myself but for a new phone to be playing up, it's not convenient and I would want a phone that works without crashing, especially from new.

Look dude, you have been told OVER and OVER again that it couldn't be the sim card causing phone to reboot. Its either your hardware like your phone or battery or its your software, ie your rom or apps installed.
Have you even bothered trying other sim cards?
Tried factory reset?
Have you tried other rom?
Have you tried other kernel?
Have you got refund and gone elsewhere?
Have you read any of the replies here or in your duplicate threads?

With all due respect it seems you don't read the replies you say you bother to answer...
1- It doesn't reboots, it just shutdowns. Thats why I say my problem isn't found elsewhere therefore doesn't seems to be a ROM problem.
2- Since I have 14 days (and not the usual 30) to ready-exchange the device trying a SIM card won't be enough, since the phone can handle random time turned on without going down.
3/4 - I already changed the phone once, so same hardware flaw would be suspicioous since phones are tested and odds of getting a faulty hardware 2 times in a row with the exact swame faulty style is like 1/1000. Especially on recent SGSII.
5- Nope, i'm hoping i'll get a talk with Samsung(not vodafone) and talk to them if the third phone come with same problem.
6- Yes I did. But as I said on point 1) it seems you didn't read mines I asked for someone that has a sim card knowledge, since phones in the past DID shutdown due to low network/loss of signal causing phones to shutdown. But as I said to the Vodafone guy, i think its strange that a new phone such as most smartphones are to shutdown cause of SIM card beeing old/loosing signal with this 4G thing. But since i traded for this new SGSII and the SAME problem is hapening i tend to beleive is the SIM. Though I already asked Vodafone to send me a 4G card and if I get the third SGSII I will try to test the full 14 days I have to see if its the SIM card thats causing something or not.
Apart all of this, if any1 faced the same problem please tell me something(most likely will be from Portugal, who knows).

You haven't mentioned changing Roms or Kernels.
This to me sounds like a software issue.
This is not a Sim card issue!!!.
It might be wrong current or voltage issues, but this being a new phone would lead me straight back to it being a software issue.
I have a Galaxy S2 for over a year and had a load of random reboots or shutdowns. It always was a kernel issue, update to the latest or downgrade to the most stable always fixed it. So my advice try to fix the software before blaming the hardware. Try different kernels, Roms and if you are still having the problem then it is a hardware issue. Flash a stock Rom back on and your phone should still be under warranty. Goodluck
BTW this is hilarious: 1- It doesn't reboots, it just shutdowns. Thats why I say my problem isn't found elsewhere therefore doesn't seems to be a ROM problem.
That sounds like a Rom or Kernel problem. First thing I would check! Are you sure that it shut downs rather than just freezing?
Also I just noticed your on 4.0.4 there is problems with the version of android

He's been advised now multiple time in multiple topics to try new kernel or rom but he just keeps simple ignoring the advise or dismissing it and seems to be convinced its his sim card for some odd reason.
If he wants to create multiple topics asking for help (have them closed/deleted) and then ignore the advise and then wonder why he still has same issues then its his own fault and his own problem.

[Q] com.android.phone has stopped

My DNA has just started popping up the message "com.android.phone has stopped" and crashing the dialer every time I try to make a call. It worked fine for the first couple weeks I had it, and still works fine apart from making calls. 4G works and I get data. I've tried re-inserting the SIM, doing a factory reset, flashing RUU, and I just got back from the Verizon store where the swapped out the SIM. Nothing has fixed it.
Before I call the VZ warranty department I thought I'd post here and see if anyone had an idea. I'm a little worried they'll see my "Relocked/Tampered" bootloader and tell me I'm SOL. :/
Hmm...that didn't work I think there's a tread about this issues somewhere around here

Hmm, I didn't find anything in my (admittedly brief) search. Either way, I gave up and called Verizon warranty service. The rep was very helpful and agreed to send me a new phone.

Wow, it would never be that easy to get a replacement in Australia

Just to be clear, my "new" phone is actually "recertified like-new". And I have to send the old one back or pay full price for it. And if they find evidence of damage or tampering on the old phone I'll get charged $300. But yeah, aside from that it was pretty easy.
Guys, i am having the same problem! On every call i get com.android.phone has stopped ! Does anyone had the same and found a solution?!
I tried 3 custom roms(viper hatka and another one) no work, reflashed back to stock, problem remains!
I am also living overseas! Is this a problem?
Just out of curiosity, do you still have the little flap covering your microUSB port? I got annoyed with mine and yanked it out...now I'm wondering if it damaged the antenna.
I have removed it too, no way this thing can affect the operation!
It has to do with someone on you facebook or contacts has a birthday on Feb 29 find out which one it is delete the contact sync for that person or change the birthday
Thanks for the reply, have you experienced the same problem in htc DNA?
The solution you are giving is kinda strange, as i haven't passed any contacts or fb account to my mobile and the problem persists. Of course, i had done this one in the past, lets check what you just said, thanks!

android.phone.acore .. again I am sorry
I also am having this problem.
I completely wiped everything and stuff as well.
Any solutions?
any resolutions?
has anyone been able to resolve this? after S-OFF, i'd hoped that flashing the new radio may work, but it didn't. i've formatted every partition and then resintalled every rom i can think of, to no avail. sucks!!
I had stock rom, unlocked, rooted, flashed viper and had the problem. Flashed different roms, the same. Returned to stock RUU, the same. Reflashed, the same. Unlocked, rooted again, and flashed viper again, and voila, the problem solved!

I tried this hoping it would fix com.android.phone, no luck
If RUUing doesnt help it then it might be a hardware related issue and its getting that error because the software can not communicate with the hardware... possibly? maybe? just an idea

It's not like I'm not getting a signal, I still receive txt sms. The signal cuts as soon as I try using dialer.

I tried following what you mentioned flashed ruu and then flashed back to viper rom. So can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
thanks
Have you checked md5 files for your files to be sure that you have the right ones? What recovery are you using? Are you locking-unlocking etc as you have to on every step?Try it once more but be sure for all these! I personally used cwm recovery!

I am using cwm and followed step-by-step. I think it maybe a hardware issue or partitions are corrupt

Major problems after updating twrp

So last night I updated twrp to 2.6.3.0. After updating, I flashed carbons latest rom. Everything went smoothly until it booted. Once it booted up, I noticed I did not have any signal. So I went back into twrp and restored my beans 22 rom. Booted back up and still no service. When I go to the mobile network in settings and try to switch it to lte/cdma, it just searches for lte signal for a few minutes and then a pop up that tells me to switch to global mode pops up. Any ideas on whats going on???
Oh..I also noticed that my bluetooth wont turn on on my phone as well.

You flashed Carbon for another carrier (T-mobile or AT&T), which changed your baseband radio and now you can't access the Verizon network. Odin back to bone stock and you should be good.
Lessons of the day:
1. ALWAYS verify what you downloaded and are about to flash before swiping "do it" in twrp
2. ALWAYS make a nandroid before flashing anything, including mods
The carbon I downloaded was for my phone. I'm gonna try to go back to stock and see if it helps. Thanks everyone for the help!!

I would go with the other guy and say odin back to stock. At least this way you can be sure all your software is as it would be when you take the phone out of the box for the first time. Look into hardware problems from there.

take your sim out and see if the problem with the screen goes away. I don't see why they would be related, but stranger things have happened.

Yeah probably;. try taking out the sd card as well. if that isn't it, it might be time to think about getting a new phone lol. You are probably still under factory warranty.
It's not the sim or the sdcard.... It's the files which are missing and causing trouble
Thanks,
nikhil dhand
