i was having major boot loops issues so i returned to 100% stock 1.13.651.7 by following these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com . but i did not complete step 7 b/c i was thinking i will just need to flash 4ext recovery on this to get back to flashing custom roms? am i wrong? do i have to lock this and then unlock? do i have to install twrp or cwm first so that i am able to then flash 4ext? right now i'm hboot 1.40 s-off...
http://db.tt/iL588Uib
Here's 4ext in a pg86img
i was previously running Meanrom 6.4 rooted S-ON and i decided to S-OFF my phone
i have RUU my phone and unlock the bootloader through dirtyracun s-off but when i was about to run the final step which is RabiesShot.exe(to S-OFF), my laptop have barely any battery left so i decided to not do that for the time being.
after that, I am still running the RUU 2.13.651.1 - HBOOT 1.19 without Root or any mods.
I decided to flash the "PJ75IMG - Stock Kernel". i renamed it to PJ75IMG and put it on my sdcard and it did successfully flash.
the problem is that my phone wont boot past Sprint Logo(it would suddenly black screen of death).
also, since i have no way of removing the PJ75IMG on the SD card, everytime i try to access recovery, it automatically tries to flash that file then it would exit and reboot automatically.
the only way for me to skip that part is to remove the sdcard.
my TWRP is also gone so i cannot flash any roms.
i have no card reader so i cannot place any stuff on my micro sd. :crying:
i though about downgrading the kernel to the previous working version through fastboot but when i looked for the files, they say downgrading would result in a brick.
is there any way i can maybe fastboot jellybean or ics or the kernel to make my phone work again?
edit:
if i did flash the Jellybean with my current kernel, is there a way to achieve S-OFF?
i also havent found stock jellybean rom that isnt rooted
Just...

If i were you, i would go back through the s-off process if you can, that will get you back to stock and s-off, then install latest twrp, and then instal OMJ's custom release of the new JB update, it will give you root and the new update, Install the radios since you are s-off and you are good to go.
You need to finish that last step to gain s-off though lol. You should have waited.
Also, im not sure if that is just the kernel, but if it is, just the kernel and nothing else. Then you should be able to do s-off fine still.
Someone correct me if im wrong, i just learned this whole s-off process today so i could do the update.

the thing is the phone wont even boot past the HTC Logo then it would display black screen of death
edit: i found through google saying the error is rekated to the kernel version and i should downgrade first.
is there any safe/reliable method of downgrading the latest kernel from ota (i did not flash the one with the latest hboot but i am still s-on)
i tried to Fastboot RUU but i got an error saying FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)

I had the same problem.
1.remove the PJ75IMG file from exrtenal sd card.
2.reboot to fastboot pres factory reset
3. immidietly press and hold volume down, this should get you to recovery.
4. wipe
5. restore a backup rom
6.reboot
It worked for me after hours of trying other methods.
I just went through a bootloop mess. What i did to get my phone back was to use fastboot and use commands (on my pc) like
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (for TWRP)
fastboot flash boot boot.img (for Kernel)
That got my phone back up and working.
Have you tried this?

ok i believe, fastboot should get you twrp. As will it get you the boot flash.
Fastboot flash zip (latest twrp)
Fastboot flash boot (ICS sense rom's boot.img extracted from zip) (this will get you the kernel)
Reboot hold vol down and power to get to bootloader
select recovery
Twrp wipe and flash ICS rom you got the boot img from. (this will take a bit because it wont install kernel, but you already have it from step 2)
you should boot into the rom. then re-do Dirty Raccoon installation, go all the way through, and you should now be s-off
re-install twrp
Flash radios in bootloader (fastboot flash zip (.zip for radios) (link one from Original android development jelly bean flashables post) (optional)
Go to twrp, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, wipe syste.
Twrp Flash OMJ's custom JB release of this update, or stock with goodies, or jewel-swag.
Wipe cache/Dalvic
reboot.
I think this should work but i would immagine you've tried it already. Im running the new kernel and am experiencing no problems with it.
If you're s-off just use fastboot to flash a new kernel, no need to do a factory reset or anything else.
The kernel and ROM must be installed as a pair, just upgrading one isn't going to work.
Hi!
I've updated to honeycomb 3.2.1 and everything worked fine. Then I decided to unlock bootloader using HTCDev site and root it.
Everything went ok and flyer was working until I decided to flash custom ROM (Cool 3D Honey and later LeeDroid).
After following the install guide device is stuck in a boot loop. It's booting to the "desktop" screen and then reboots over and over again.
Same happened with LeeDroid rom.
How can I get it working again? No matter which rom - just to make it work.
I can only boot into fastboot/recovery now.
hboot 1.11
S-ON
rooted
Please help
You need to flash the boot.img using fastboot. This needs to be done everytime you flash a custom ROM. Otherwise, you have no kernel (or kernel is mismatched for the ROM you are on). This is one of the downsides to having S-On versus S-Off (and with you hboot version, there is no S-on, as you likely already know).
To flash boot.img using fastboot:
- On your computer, use a zip program (Winzip, WinRAR, etc.) to open the ROM zip.
- Extract boot.img, and put it in the same folder that you have fastboot.exe (which you should alreay have if you are bootloader unlocked).
- Connect the Flyer to your computer via USB, put phone into fastboot mode
- Open command prompt on computer
- Change directory in command prompt to the folder where you have fastboot.exe
- Use following command to flash boot.img:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
- Reboot phone after flash is complete, and it should boot properly
Also, make sure you are trying to flash on HC, ICS, or JB based ROMs. GB based custom ROMs require GB hboot. Since you are only bootloader unlocked (not S-Off) I don't believe you can downgrade hboot (at least not easily). So I think you are stuck on HC, ICS, and JB ROMs (no GB ones).

Thanks for your effort.
I've followed the procedure you described above but still no luck for Cool 3D honey or LeeDroid (HC) ROMS. However, I was able to flash Virtuous ROM yesterday and Flyer is working. Only bug I noticed for now is that I can only power it down through fastboot > powerdown because standard/software power down option is not working (probably ROM bug or something).
BTW, should I follow this guide to downgrade to GB? Can I expect this to work?

I think this is what you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070140
The linked RUU thread in the guide is obsolete (dead/deleted download links). But the method seems to be valid, if you can find the RUU for your version.
i have same scenario with the you dude
HC
s-on
1.11 hboot
i want to flash this Cool3dhoney, but the thread said that i must have proper radios and hboot, dunno what's the proper radio and hboot

Honeycomb ROM requires a HC hboot. So if you are already on HC, you are already on one of the correct hboot versions. I don't think that radio will make much difference, and the one you are on is probably fine..
Since you are S-on, you must manually extract boot.img and flash from fastboot as I instructed in post #2 above. That is probably the reason why you can't boot. The kernel will not flash in recovery with S-on. So your kernel is currently mismatched with the ROM.

thank you sir for the reply, i already studied everything, flashing and flashing boot.img manually, thanks! now ill flash this rom
NB: I have scoured the forums, YouTube as well as the web and followed a couple of instructions before posting this. Bear with me. Thanks
I have an EVO 3D GSM EMEA that's on stock ICS 4.03, Locked HBOOT 1.53.007 and S-ON.
I then took these steps in the exact order:
1. Unlocked the bootloader using ADB fastboot and HTCDEV.com
2. Achieved S-OFF using unlimited.io Juopunutbear wire trick method (Linux instructions) - now Juopunutbear S-OFF with HBOOT 1.53.7777
3. Tried to install 4Ext (paid version) but got message that BusyBox was needed and both apps then confirmed error of no root access)
4. Flashed rootingsuperuser v.3.0.7
5. Installed BusyBox and 4Ext recovery
6. Attempted to flash WILD-FOR-THE-NIGHT-05012013-shooter.zip (got an error since it is cdma version - rom did not get flashed)
7. Got cm-10.1-20130215-UNOFFICIAL-shooteru and flashed it using 4Ext recovery
8. Also flashed gapps-jb-20130301-signed
9. Got the bootloop - It does not go beyond the cyanomodgen boot and keeps looping between that and HTC on.
10. Used ramjet73 bootloop fix and it did not work.
I've also tried to flash RootBox-JB-shooteru-Nightly-20130312 and cm-10.1-20130511-UNOFFICIAL-shooteru to no avail - still in boot loop
I have NOT done any superwipe. I have wiped all except sd card on installing different roms. I also wipe cache & dalvik-cache.
Any ideas on what I've done wrong or a solution???
Respect to the cyanomodgen team, team hydra and everyone else who have helped indirectly throught their posts.
I have just solved the bootloop issue on my 3VO device.
I downgraded my HBOOT to 1.49.007 using the info and download link on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172
Thanks to flashmaniac for the hboot 1.49.0007 advice
Steps Taken:
1. Downloaded PG86IMG.zip from the thread and followed instructions.
2. I think I lost Juopunutbear at this point but was still S-OFF and Unlocked.
2. After that was done, I performed a clean flash by formatting all except sd card.
3. Flashed May 2013 Cyanomodgen JellyBean 4.2.2
4. Flashed latest Gapps
5. Rebooted and I did not get the bootloop problem anymore.
NB: If there is still a bootloop problem at this point, use ramjet73 to wipe cache & dalvik-cache, then reboot.
Enjoy.
I've a Desire X, flashed I thing after complete unlock with a wrong ROM and tried everything, from flashing any custom ROM, relocking and tried to flash RUU with always 132 Error of bad signature. And when with the TWRP I was able to flash custom rom from SD, finished it and after reboot to intall, stucked on the Recovery.
Infos from Bootload:
PROTO PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.25.0002
RADIO-1.15.40.04
eMMC-boot
Is it linked to version of HBOOT? I tried to downgrade but was not able yet....
And when I check the boot_signed.img file in all rom.zip of RUU I have, the CRC is bad reported during extraction... strange.
Thanks for Help
if you're on hboot 1.25 (jellybean) you have to make sure the updater-script of the rom you want to flash uses the correct mountpoints.

Try this one

It's for JB hboot.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I tried both solutions, not booting after flash... black screen only.
How to return to older version of HBOOT?
you did flash the kernel (boot.img), didnt you?
Yes everything as described, with the TWRP I'm able to completely flash a ROM, and once rebooted, return to Recovery....

you're sure youre on hboot 1.25? cause IF you're still on hboot 1.24, and you flashed a jellybean rom (via a very special manual etc), you have to boot your sys via "boot recovery" because the sizes of the partitions differ from the ones on hboot 1.25. afair when your trying to boot sys the normal way, it boots recovery, cause of the "switched" partitions. (boot.img from jellybean doesnt fit into boot-partition from ics, thats why its flashed into recovery partition and so on...)
try to boot recovery (from recovery), sounds stupid but give it a try
Yes I tried, not working, just returning to recovery. And it's well 1.25.0002...
