[Q] Issue with “Date & Time” in CM 10.2?? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

My machine is Z ultra C6833 with FXP239 CM10.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2461286) installed. The baseband version is 8974-AAAAANAZQ-10220006-17.
I have a question about the “Date & Time” settings. No matter what date and time I set, the settings will not save after reboot or power-off – the date and time is automatically restored back to “20 Feb 1970” and “2:49 a.m.” respectively. I have “Automatic date & time” option off.
Is there something I missed out during the installation of CM10.2 ROM? I remember that I installed the ROM and then wiped data except cache partition. The process was so smooth.
Sorry for my bad English. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I haven't tried CM on the Ultra, and i don't know if this is a known bug, but try clearing the cache and dalvik in Recovery, and check again.

keep the automatic time on and make sure you have a sim card inserted to enable time to sync

Yes this is a known issue. The kernel is not able to update the time, so always remains constant @ 1970. The restore and backup feature work, however only if you use the CyanogenMod version of CWM. If you're using the Sony or Krabapple's CWM and then use a CM ROM, then backups will not work.
Also renaming the backup folder inside the CWM backup wont work, as it will corrupt the MD5.

Is there any fix to the issue? Or will the issue be fixed in the coming release of CM10.2? Thank you.

Supposedly fixed in the latest build:

Yeah the free Xperia team have sorted it out. There are still a few outstanding issues, however nothing your average user would notice

[Q] Titanium Backups Batch function not working

I have always used ROM Manager to do everything, but seeing that might not be the best way to do things..I have been having some other problems with restoring, and talked about it on another forum, but can't post the link here yet.
So, my nightlys said it is time to upgrade, so I am going to completely back everything up with TB, and fire it all up to dropbox. All of my system settings are 100% the way I want them... I also clicked the beta migration option in the preferences, hoping that would help me.
Step 1 - Backup all user apps + system Data
Step 2 - Sync to Dropbox
Step 3 - Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery, and do everything manually, not through ROM Manager
Step 4 - Clear cache and Dalvik
Step 5 - Run zip from SD Card
This time, it seemed like everything went as planned. When I started the phone back up, all the apps were in the same spot, and wallpaper was the same. Although, the first time, when the screen timed out, I couldn't turn it back on. Pulled the battery, and all is working fine now.
Step 6- went into TB and did a batch restore of all apps and data, but only clicked the green items. From reading somewhere else, it is only wise to do the green items, not the red, so that is what I did. Then reboot for all to take effect.
This is where I am confused. None of my data is restored. For example, I use K-9 Mail, and the settings aren't restored by the batch. But, if I go to that app, and hit the restore data, then it restores it fine. So, for me to do all my apps, the batch function isn't working, I have to go through and do 15-20 apps manually.
So, what am I doing wrong here? Why isn't the batch operation working properly for me?
Edit - Something else I noticed that didn't restore properly was any of my ring tones. Not a huge deal, but I thought might be worth mentioning in this dilemma.
So I assume you are on CM7 as you refer to nightlies.
You say that you wipe cache/dalvick cache and install. Then when you reboot all your apps are in the right place?
Then why on earth would you want restore your apps on top of the existing apps with TB? Maybe that is causing the problem. AFAIK upgrading with a nightly shouldn't touch your installed apps.
Did you check the app settings before restoring with TB?
As for the ringtones, I always had that problem when using CM7, just got used to fixing them after installing each nightly.
Hope this helps.
What version of TB are you using? I was having a similar problem doing restores on v3.9.0.1 and was having problems doing batch recovery with my SGS2. The status bar would come up but wouldn't successfully finish. I then upgraded to 4.0.0.0 and everything seems to work.. might give that a try if you're using an older version.

Yes, sorry, I am running CM7, but using the nighties.
As far as the apps, that's why I think I am doing something wrong. Last time was the first time everything was there, every other update, it was like I was starting off with a new phone. No app, no data, nothing. A brand new fresh start.
I will try it again in a few minutes and hope for the best..
Thanks for helping out with this one..

I am currently using the Pro, 4.0.2. It just seems that I have to refresh all the data for each app by themselves, but all at once won't work.
Upgrading my nightly now, so keeping my fingers crossed that it will work.

[Q] CyanogenMOD 9 status bar (wierd) crash

Hello xda!
I'm new to xda community, but im not a dummy in flashing subject (i think)
From the start i want to say that I'm from Poland, so my english will not be perfect, sometimes it might be terrible (maybe already is)
OK to the point.
I have i9100 with latest stable cyanogenmod 9. Everything is lovely except one thing.
Everytime I open status/notification bar (slide it down) to read received SMS or see missed call it crahses wierdly.
Clock, received sms and signal strength icons are acting normal, everything else just dissappear for ~20 seconds.
Basicly it looks like this:
i.imgur. com/qlJvXgA.jpg (delete space)
What should i do to make it work properly. Please help its really annoying
Well common sense would dictate that you do a fresh install.
1) Make a Nandroid backup and/or Titanium Backup Pro backup.
2) Reboot to recovery and do a "Wipe data/factory reset" or use these cleaning scripts (much better clean).
3) Install rom zip.
4) Install gapps zip.
5) Boot to system.
6) Restore apps/appdata using Titanium Backup Pro or use AppExtractor to restore them from nandroid backup.
Note: Contacts will be backed up by your google account if you have had sync enabled. To backup SMS/MMS there are various apps in store,
Unfortunatly it didn't work
Is there any hope? :crying:

Sorry got topics mixed up.
It sounds like there is a bug with version of CM9 you're using. Try another.
Did you actually do as I described?
Yes i did.
rebooted into recovery > used that ROMwipeV2.02 script (btw very usefull) > flashed stable 9.1 bulid > got pissed > restored to stock 4.0.4
I tried latest nightly bulid & stable one and it's still doing it to me. I can't belive that only my phone is doing that :|
Maybe i should jump on CM 10.1 But i can't switch used memory to ext_sd there like in CM 9 :\ (phone writes it's files to ext_sd) and it seems to lag alot more than CM 9

Try the rom nuke version instead of wipe and also the kernel cleaning script. If that doesnt work I would do a full format of internal (/emmc) and external (/sdcard) in cwm and then install rom/gapps.
It sounds as though some leftover data or maybe an app you're using is conflicting.

[Q] updating rooted samsung galaxy s3 to 4.3

ok so basically i want to find a way to get to 4.3 either rooted or unrooted, my problem is that i have pretty bad ocd and one of my major major problems with that disorder is my tech devices, i will most likely have an anxsiety attack or 2 if i have to set up my phone from scratch and i will spend hours making it look exactly the same. anyway, i want to know:
1:how to update rooted gs3 Gt-i9305t 4g/lte model without loosing data (if possible )
2: update to 4.3 and un root without loosing data (im sure thats impossible )
i would really appreciate the help as i cannot find anyone looking for the same help as me (kinda strange how no one cares about there data at all, but meh)
also on a side note, i have the problem with my s3 where any sd card i put into the machine will eventually kill itself and never work again as far as i know, it has killed 3 32gb sd cards now and its starting to piss me off to the point where i am no longer using an sd card at all. why does the phone do this and is there any way to fix it? either software wise or hard wear wise? thanks !!! :fingers-crossed:
4.3 source code has only just been released. 4.3 roms are not fully functional and have bugs. There are no official releases so they are all "rooted".
You really do need to wipe when making version updates. Theres no way around this.
Stick with what you've got.
that just sucks.

that honestly sucks so much, thanks for the info though.
hey another quick question, is there a way to so a full backup, like im talking FULL, like down to the point of where ur apps are placed and all there data, like apple devices have through itunes?? (restore from backup option) cus if so then i dont mind wiping at all, i just hate apple so i will never go back to one of there piece of **** devices again (i like features with my shiny brick) but yeah anything like that? or can kies do that?
i'm using temasek 4.3 preview 3 atm, you should check it out since developer is extremely helpful
and he updates regularly (which is important)
There are a number of ways to keep your data. Including ones that will let you change the ROM and still have your data. Titanium Backup - not sure if it is only Pro version but the one I have lets me create a backup on the extSDcard so I can flash it in a new ROM and restore all my apps and data straight off. SMS Backup and restore and Call Backup and restore both save out your data to the extSDcard so you can bring them back. I used to use My Backup Root as well but it ceased to work on the last update so I nuked it.
Add in a nandroid backup on something like Philz Recovery (where you can do an Advanced Restore from External SDCard and bring back just parts of your current ROM) and you can always get back to your look & feel in any new ROM.
The one thing I ahve NOT found a solution for is replacing my widgets back on the screens they are on - I run 7 screens and it pisses me off a full recovery in something like Titanium doesn't restore my widgets. The only way it happens is a full nandroid restore but that nukes the new ROM I have just installed so that's not an option.
I run Purelook HD as my 1st ROM, GoogyMax kernel and SlimBean as my 2nd ROM. I can nuke either or both and be back to my set up (including widgets) in about 45 minutes.

Lets dissect this a little.
A Nandroid backup will take a snapshot of your phone. If you flash something wrong, it can be used to restore your data / settings and rom exactly how it was. This will not help restore your data and settings on a new ROM where you had to perform a wipe. (You have to perform a wipe to prevent data and settings incompatibilities with the new ROM that will cause problems.)
Titanium backup is great. However, if you had to perform a wipe, you cannot simply restore everything using Titanium. This is because you will be restoring the incompatabilities (System data) and restoring the problems (negating the point of the wipe in the first place). You can restore user apps and data with titanium but there will be an element of manually setting all your rom settings.
OP - Please read the "Read before rooting" thread in my signature for more info.
**** that
screw it, ill just stay on 4.2.1 i mostly want it cus they (****ING FINALLY ) partially fixed the setting wallpaper problems so you can get at least most of the photo in the screen now, i have it on my nexus 7 but now cant get it on my phone : / screw ocd, it has plagued me since i was little

The Advanced Restore in Philz lets you restore Data. The choices are, Restore Boot, System (+or- reload) Data, Cache and sd ext. The Data restored my latest personal stuff from the BU I tried just before a new ROM experiment. So not all Restores are the same. You don't have to bring it ALL back from a nandroid.

@Journyman16
You seem to be missing my point.
If you can restore just data via recovery (which you can) then you didn't need to wipe in the first place.
ROM goes in /system. We all know that. Our apps go in /data/app. We all know that. Our data for our apps goes in /data/data but what some may NOT know is that /data/data contains all your system data too. When you set a ring tone or wallpaper, its in /data/data.
If you go from 1 ROM to another, you may not have to wipe. Or you may HAVE to wipe. It depends if there is incompatible system data in /data/data or not.
When you do wipe, you wipe /data/* (includes /data/data). If you nandroid restore /data and your phone works perfectly, you didn't need to wipe. So my point remains.
If you HAD to wipe, you cannot simply restore data via recovery and have a fully working phone.

[ROM][OFFICIAL] [4.4] [T0LTE] Cyanogenmod 11 nightlies

I'm not the developer but kitkat nightly is out.
ROM download: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly
gapps download: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Gapps
Change log: http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#/t0lte/next
You might experience problem with twrp so it might be better to use CWM.
Also I believe it'll be a full wipe installing the ROM the first time. Good luck.
ps. if the cm dev wants to create a new thread for this ROM, please do so and I'll ask a moderator to close/delete this one.
here are the results of my trials earlier today. ROM is working nicely now. at least on the apps I've tried it on. Still using dalvik though.
-------------------------
some tips (all my testing was done using official CWM 6.0.4.1):
1. Definitely do not use TWRP unless there's an update to 2.6.3.7. (seems TWRP could work if one use the modified version. see message below. I haven't tested this myself.)
2. using CWM and exFAT is a hit and miss. A fresh install and the ROM can't see sdcard. The only time the sdcard was detected was after a nandroid restore.. Since all the files in my SDcard is < 4GB, I can use FAT32.
3. nandroid restore = no mobile connection for me. this was fixed by reflashing the even if it's the same nightly (example: say I made a nandroid backup of 17-Dec nightly ROM. due to having messed up stuff, I decided to restore my backup. as said above, this will result in no mobile connection. but if I reflashed the zip file for 17-Dec nightly, this will fix the problem)
4. the hangouts included in the gapps (See link above to CM wiki) resulted in FCs when trying to make a video call. this was fixed by uninstalling hangouts using titanium and reinstalling it via the playstore.
5. I believe all official recoveries need updating to support 4.4 properly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
original message is below. you can see the problems I've encountered during testing.
just flashed the nightly for t0lte using TWRP 2.6.3.7 and somehow it can't see my SIM. Will be flashing again using latest CWM (6.0.4.1 as of now).
initial observations:
1. NTFS work on SD cards
2. 2 launchers are present (launcher and launcher3)
3. looks better than Jb (it could be placebo effect because kitkat is new)
update: definitely use CWM at least for t0lte. ROM has recognized my SIM.
update2: been playing around with the ROM and when I tried to access my NTFS-formatted SDcard, it cannot see. I had no problems at all with my SDcard using TWRP. I can even browse the folders inside it using file manager. I also had a problem with the built-in hangouts and video chat. I'm getting FCs.
update3: restoring from CWM nandroid backup = no cellular/mobile connect. Can't even call anyone.
update4: update to update3. I did lose cellular/mobile connectivity (phone can't find sim) BUT it can recognize my NTFS-formatted sdcard now!
update5: removing hangouts via titanium and then reinstalling the playstore version, I can make a video call.
update6: restore from nandroid (which gives me a working NTFS-formatted sdcard) and then reflashed the ROM. I got mobile signal but no sdcard. I guess I can always format it at as FAT32 which I'm doing now.

gave up on making an NTFS-formatted sdcard work on a new flash. I'm formatting my sdcard now to FAT32. It'll probably be fixed down the road.
and I think flashing the ROM after restoring from nandroid backup will bring back mobile signal. At least that's my conclusion. But I do get a signal only if I use CWM.
Yea twrp 2.3.6.7 is buggy. Look for twrp 2.3.6.1, it's modified and will work with cellular signal. Keep us posted.
The modded twrp is linked on one of the last pages in the beanstalk thread iirc

updated 2nd post to give some tips on how to install ROM properly. seems to be working nicely now. That said, I don't have much app/games installed on my phone compared to my tablet (50-60 apps on the phone compared to 90+ on the tablet. mostly games).
a sample list of apps installed on phone are dashclock, lightflow, dynamicnotifications, various messaging. various Google apps and 1 game.
Installed with latest CWM and Data works great, no issues with Calls / LTE etc.
ROM seems really good so far, using Google's OK Google is fun but does tend to drain the battery faster, that said I will switch to a different kernel as I miss Viper so will most likely go with Devil, hopefully it helps with the battery.
I've never had an issue with CWM, I upgraded to the latest version using ROM Manager.
My tip for flashing is to always wipe perform a full wipe plus Cache, Davlik and System before flashing and Cache, Davlik after.
Miss some features / tweaks from other Roms but I know that CM is the best stock experience out there so no problems there.
IMO no issues running as a daily driver.

Definitely not working on a clean install, with a few apps installed.
According to a test app the light sensor is responding but the prox is not.
Camera app is buggy, useless in fact. 3rd party camera is fine temporary replacement.
Facebook edit post doesn't allow cursor placement, facebook app 4.4 problem I assume.
Is anyone able to successfully set the DPI to another value in build.prop? Mine always defaults to 320 after each reboot.
Update:
I seem to be able to edit/save build.prop changes fine in 12/07/13 nightly.
Had the same flash error 7 corruption had boot loop into recovery and had to use a nand backup to get back. Did a clean install, and the process went well. Only issues so far are my Microsd can't be seen. And can't manage to get the 'Ok google' stuff working. A few random crashes but overall working well so far.
So would love some help with the Microsd issue as this is quite important?

So would love some help with the Microsd issue as this is quite important?

my NTFS-formatted sdcard can be seen when I use TWRP 2.6.3.7. not so with CWM 6.0.4.1.
I'm running the modified TWRP mentioned in page1 but my sdcard is still FAT32. I'll format my sdcard and see if it works.
I'm going back to CWM. just noticed all sorts of problems on my phone running the modified TWRP. :/ sucks!
No radio signal when flashing with TWRP 2.6.3.7. Flash again with CWM 6.0.4.1 radio is back. No problem with the external SD card (FAT32).

@mrjayviper Wasn't twrp 2.6.3.7 a bugged and accidental upload?
(At least people kept telling me a short while ago. )

[URGENT] Phone stuck on Just a Sec screen, HELP !

I am using Redmi Note 4 SD625. I was easily running AEX {9.0}, without any problems.
I decided to switch to HavocOS. After installing the zip, and also Gapps {pico}, my phone got stuck on Just a Sec screen after Language Selection. I already tried using different ROMS, clearing Internal Storage, Formatting Data using TWRP, but nothing is working. I really need to get this device going. Please Help. Also, my phone's system UI keeps crashing while on Just a Sec Screen [ black screen and then instant refresh of notification panel]. Is this something to do with my gaps? Please help.:crying:

You need the following GApps: ARM64 - Android 9.0

Just try it once more.
1. Update your TWRP. Use OrangeFox 9 which you can find here. Boot into your recovery and install OrangeFox:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...-orangefox-recovery-project-t3775933?&ampcf=1
2. Update your firmware. Most people prefer firmware 9.6.1.0 which you can find here. Just flash it in OrangeFox recovery:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi..._V9.6.1.0.NCFMIFD_2ffa61cdd6_7.0.zip/download
3. Download the ROM and GApps you want to use and save them to your SD card.
4. Boot into recovery and make all the necessary wipes (Internal, Data etc) and also format "Data". You will have to type "YES"
5. Install the ROM you want to use, install GApps and reboot your phone

You can use internal storage as well.
After you do all the wipes, you will need a computer and can then copy the ROM and GApps to internal storage.
Using a SD card, you won't need a computer.

Maybe it's a problem with the ROM you are using?
You can try to remove your Sim cards. Remove your Sim cards, do the setup and once everything works, put them back it.

If system UI keeps crashing, you probably didn't wipe your system before flashing a new ROM.
In OrangeFox go to:
Wipe - Advanced Wipe
and select everything except external storage and "Cust"
then swipe to wipe
After that go back to:
Wipe - Format Data
type "Yes" and format Data.
After that is done, flash the ROM and GApps right afterwards.

Restart to recovery
Wipe - Format Data and type yes.
After that works, wipe everything and install the ROM and GApps.
Alternatively, Wipe and then "Swipe to Factory Reset" like in the screenshot attached.
If this doesn't work, maybe there's a problem because you encrypted your phone. Maybe this will help then:

It wont be solved I assure you. There is no probelm with gapps either as i have tried an older (feb 19 built gapps package) and it didn"t worked with any rom(havoc,rr). Try to flash the older Pixel Experience april build . Check your private messege inbox as i have sent you the link. It will surely work.

Yup it worked! But there are 2 problems,
1] My SIM card are not being detected.
2] The phone is stuck on Phone Is Starting, i tried installing Nova with adb, but the default app selection settings still is blank. (after finishing the setup, which was a pain in the ass since i had no keyboard for some reason.

"SYSTEM UI KEEPS CRASHING" FACED THE SAME ERROR A YEAR AGO!!!???
I flashed miui via miflash or any rom via twrp, the same error. Last option was to flash stock ROM , lock bootloader and sent to mi service centre.
They said that the motherboard got damaged and replaced with a new one..

Nevermind! This ROM is working completely fine. Sadly i lost all the customization features , but i guess you reap what you sow. I did messed up while installing a new ROM, as you guys mentioned. Thank you all for your support!
