Other options to remove bloatware - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I did a dumb thing of trying to upgrade the firmware to mi5 and I got the knox warranty issue 0x1. The reason I'm really pissed is because I can't find another way to get rid of bloatware. Anyone have any suggestions

Are you rooted ? Use any of the root explorers. ..
I personally have used this since the og evo
https://db.tt/bLGh4EgC
It's sdx stock app remover
But you can do the same with root Explorer ... rom toolbox etc

I was rooted but recently got the knox warranty issue. Looks like it's not gonna be a fix for this and trying to find a way without being rooted

This link may help you as much of the work has already been done. Keep in mind that this script is for ATT, however the samsung apps are all the same on all the devices. Refer to the link for help with the script/apk. I think this is what you are looking for though.. I do believe you have to be rooted.. but I don't think that will be an issue for you.

I saw that. My phone isn't rooted anymore. Your phone have to be rooted to run the wanam modules. Once you have the knox 0x1 error its a rap. I'm trying to find a alternative way to remove bloatware if any.

I had my phone rooted on m13. I wanted to get m15 so I can tether. Without reading about the know warranty I Odin to m13 updated to m15 and when I tried to root again I got the error. I should have read about the new knox security first but I didn't and I'm stock with a stock phone with bloatware. I hate bloatware

My thought exactly, if you're already flagged, just root again with chainfire. I used Titanium Backup to remove the apps (and backed them up too just in case) now that it's fixed and working.

I am looking too.
If you are just rooted with stock ROM and your bootloader still locked then it is a matter of just removing some files, ie. SU, busybox, ect..
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you can even odin back to LJB if you accepted the update because the LL4 Bootloader will prevent it and may brick.
if you are just stock. Open the super su app and under settings click full unroot

New update OTA status, any one installed yet?

Just checked got a 19 MB update after manually checking. Has anyone installed it yet?
Does it remove features, add features or security updates to prevent root?
If you don't know how to check:
1) menu button (left of the home button it doesn't light up till you touch it)
2) click "settings"
3) scroll down (run your finger toward the top of the screen) till you see system update.
4) select system update (I kind of recommend that you be on wifi or 4G before checking)
5) click update It should then check for an update and then download it and ask if you want to install.
If you are new and have not yet got used to rooting phone be aware that by installing it, that it may cause errors, loss of root, or even dogs to say meow and Cartman to be nice by installing it.

Supposedly its an update for allowing the use of benchmarking applications.. And yes root like jurey24 said still works! :good:

Is it still believed that this update is safe with respect to future rooting and knox avoidance?
Thanks.

I rooted mine via Chainfires auto-root last Friday when i picked up my N3 and although it did change my Knox flag to 0x1 as reported by everyone else, I have not experienced any issues with restoring backups from TWRP.
As others said, there's nothing in Sprint's contract (that I'm aware of) pertaining specifically to root. The only time the Knox counter MIGHT matter is if you had to send it into Samsung directly for service. But then again, all of us know that rooting/modding our phones is an inherited/know risk taken by each user... or at least I hope this is true.

How to - ROOT without tripping KNOX

Searched and didn't see this thread...Well at least not in Sprint section so here THOU ARE. How to Root very easily and keep KNOX at 0. If later you decide to Flash a recovery or ROM i assume you will trip KNOX.
I don't take any credit for this work. Install KING0APP from link below. Turn on developer mode "app shows you how to do that" Run app with phone connected to computer. When phone reboots you are officially rooted. You can check root with Root Checker from android store.
I successfully rooted and unrooted with his program and didn't trip KNOX. Unrooting does seem to take about 10 minutes. Dont worry its not froze.
The guy has a face book page "second link". Go like his page for more more info and help.
Mod edit: removed link

-I am completely responsible if you brick your phone! "sike" :good::fingers-crossed:

The latest version (1.1.1) of Kingoapp has been posted on their website and is ready for download. It supposedly fixes the restart issue and a few other things.
Just rooted using this, couldn't be easier. Afterward, installed Xposed framework and Wanam module ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496454 ) and now status is official. Glad I waited to root. Now, to see if (or rather when since Sprint/Samsung tends to be slow with updates) updating to kitkat breaks everything.

I rooted with the old version yesterday but kept having problems with SuperSU -- it was out-of-date, and if I updated it from Google Play market it would freeze while updating the binary. So I finally said Screw That, clicked on Unroot, did the Root De La Vega thing (copy files to root of internal sdcard, reboot, erase files and reboot) and that worked fine.
I tried Kingo several times and never got a clean up-to-date install of SuperSU. Everything might be fixed in Kingo now but I really don't care to run those traps again.
I rooted too, how do you install the hotspot? I tried the one from Tim's link and it didnt work.

I will never use Knox. Don't know what it is and care less. So do I really need to worry about it before rooting my phone
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
To root, I used www.kingoapp.com and it didn't trip knox. When I flashed custom recovery, it did. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have flashed recovery, so I could do the hotspot mod. You said you don't care, but that's just my experience and opinion. I would have used another wireless tethering app to get online using ad-hoc mode.

Only if you care about warrantee .. If you are ONLY going to root and do nothing else (like install recovery or a rom) than why not keep it. If you're going to install a rom or recovery that will trip knox anyway

[Q] Rooted Knox 0x0 custom options ?

Ok, yes I know of the search bar but I am still going to ask since we are early in development. Besides Root De La Vega to MJ4 with a hacked hotspot, and wanam xposed, are there any other custom options we can play with that will not trip knox (and hopefully keep data intact).
Why even care about Knox ? You are never going to send the phone into Samsung to be repaired so go ahead and customize it all the way

Sprint can't deny service on your phone just because it's rooted .... It's in your tos .... You may have to talk to a manager and I would run the back to stock tar but just because Knox is flipped. ... Just using it like a scare tactic.
