[Q] IMEI not accepting on new motherboard, other country phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

:crying:
Hi Guys,
Can anyone help me as I was just told that my Samsung Note II can not be repaired at all. Here is the whole story, it randomly concked off and showed nothing beyond the first screen " SAMSUNG Note II GT N7100". I was asked to do a hard reset and reboot, after using Odin and Kies nothing really worked. Post which I gave it for repairing to an experienced person, he tried everything possible concerning the software but later came back saying the mother board needs to be changed with bomb of an expense. I had not option but went ahead with his suggestion but later he got back to me saying " my IMEI Number can not be registered since its another country phone" i.e. UAE & I am in INDIA, so he suggested to try a known Note II pals IMEI number, after doing that it worked but the network did not accept and could not be used as a phone and therefore he gave up.
1) Is the 35K INR spent on it is gone in drain?
2) Can SAMSUNG help me with fix this?
3) What if i try with a friend who travels to UAE frequently to get it repaired from there with the new motherboard and imei registration?
I would really appreciate your honest, rational and a solution way forward to my above concern. Thanks friends!

[Q] Simcard not recognizing

Hi All,
I have samsung Galaxy S2 AT&T one (SGH i777). I have been using with proper care so far now. One day suddenly my power button stopped working. As it was out of warranty , I went to local phone repair shop in San Jose, CA, USA(Which has good ratings on yelp). They fixed the problem. But at the same time my simcard was not recognizing at that moment. So I thought may be i have to take new sim. So I visited AT&T store. They did software data reset and tried with new simcard. Still my phone always shows "Please insert simcard" and at range position it shows circle with one line it.
Has anybody experienced this problem ? Will the rooting of my phone help in this case ? Please advice me . Phone is in excellent condition and as it was my first android device I dont want to throw it .
I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Gaurav
Sounds like a hardware problem. Was this an issue prior to the repair of the power button?

[Q] No IMEI number whilist entering *#06# on Galaxy NOTE 1

Hi Guys,
I wonder if someone can help me.
I have been trying to dig it online but cant seems to find correct information. I have been to few mobile repair shops around London but not really convinced what the problem really is.
I have been using Samsung Galaxy Note 1 for some time now, but couple of weeks ago my connections starts dropping and i would just take the SIM out and put it back and it would start working again.
What is is that when i enter *#06# it doesn't show any IMEI number. I have tried to restore my phone and install new software didn't help.
Some of the mobile shops said they need to buy a new IMEI number, some said they need to open it and see and some said "Basement" has gone bad. Not sure what that is though. May be he meant Baseband...
So here i am. Would appreciate if someone can direct me into right direction because i don't want any rookie to tear my phone apart.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Can't analyze your phone from far away. But is it possible that your phone went crazy after an OTG-update of the system?
Well, I think the easiest way for you is to flash a new firmware and I'd like to recommend an "alternative" software. My Note runs on "Team Union" (which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194307 ). This might fix your problem.
You'll find the IMEI number on the sticker under the battery. Have a look at http://www.galaxynoteforum.net/. and join. There is a thread regarding IMEI numbers, which might help. Good luck

IMEI Fix due to new motherboard?

Hi guys !
A few weeks ago, I accidentally deadbricked my Galaxy Note I717 (known in Singapore as the Note 1 LTE/N7005) , so I sent it to a repair shop to get the whole motherboard replaced. I just got it back yesterday, and I could not get a stable signal at all , only LTE and GSM on rare occasions for a few minutes. I checked the IMEI and found out that the software's IMEI did not match the one printed on the back of the phone.
Any ideas how can I get this issue fixed WITHOUT buying a 3rd party SDT Box or such items?
Thanks !
From what I know, replacing the motherboard is like getting a different phone. So, you may need to contact your service provider and tell them that you repaired your phone. See if they can update your account to make your service work on the phone.

[Q] Changing IMEI question

Hi all. My friend had found Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 about 10 month ago somewhere outside but he didn't found the owner of the phone, so he just started using it. But now, he want to buy a new phone with guarantee, documents etc., so he offered it to me on very low price, because he know I'll buy new phone in couple of weeks. This phone is perfect for me (size, CPU, RAM, screen ppi, ROM memory etc.), but I'm scared if I buy it from him I may have law problems If the owner search it by IMEI. Although in this few months nothing happened, but I'm scared. So, I began to search in google how to change IMEI, but on every video the title was "Restoring IMEI on ....bla bla...", not changing, which I think is restoring the factory IMEI, which I don't want. I'm confused, please help me. Thanks and sorry for my English.
@MrYoan: changing IMEI is illegal. That's not supported here.
AFAIK, an IMEI can not be changed. And might not be legal in some countries.
