[Q] [App Search] No slide to answer call but volume up/down ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
First of all, i hope i'm not doing anything wrong like posting this in the wrong place... i tried to find a better place for that, but didn't find any, so i hope mods won't whip me...::highfive:
Sooooo, I don't know if you guys think the same way, but every time i get a call, i'm affraid to reject or answer call by mistake while trying to pick my phone from my pocket.
That's why i'm currently looking after an app that would give me the opportunity to answer/reject calls by pressing hardware buttons (volume up to answer, and volume down to reject for exemple).
I know there are some apps that do that, already, but what would be awesome would be the possibility to completly disable touch fonctionality, or, in a simple way, remove the slide (or push buttons) to answer on screen.
That way, you can grab your phone in any way, putting your fingers on the screen without worrying about making a mistake.
To put it in a nutshell, the perfect app woulb be:
-No answer/reject call on screen (to avoid mistakes)
-Answer by volume up (or down...)
-Reject call by volume down (or up, indeed)
And maybe mute the ringtone by flipping the phone (but really not needed).
PS: Haven't you already received a call while under the shower, and got pissed off because you couldn't slide to answer with water on your fingers? hehe
If someone know of such an app, you would make my day
Thanks for reading !

Incoming Calls; Talk/Send button

I recently had to replace the screen on my S740 and apparently, the mechanic screwd something up because the Talk/Send button works only intermittently and I have problems answering calls.
I am getting tired sending the phone back and forth and anyway am not convinced these guys are competent to fix it. My question therefore: is there a way to assign a different button for answering calls. Can't find anything on the subject in the manual; and also am not convinced that auto answer is a good solution
Thanks in advance !
Doublepress upper left soft-button
If you get an incoming call press the upper left button "Silence" after that it changes to "Anwser" so press it again!
I use that all the time (it's easier to target)
Hope that helps
Hey Gipo - thanks a lot ! I didn't know that ...

"Childlock"

Hi.
I´m looking for a app that locks (only) the hardware buttons at the bottom of device, when using it!
The background is when my son, 30 months old, are looking at pictures, videos or trying to play Teeter. It always ends up with him making a phone call... Not always that nice...
I can´t find any app for this, is there any OR could someone of you be nice and create such app? My idea is to activate/deactivate the app by pressing volume button, when receiving a call it would be convenient to answer the call by pressing volume down, in other way the child might answering or reject the call...
/"Mini" Dad.
AE Button Plus ?
Hmm...
A little bit hard to understand the text...
What I can see/read, it doesn´t support winPhone 6.5...
Really need this...
Hi!
I just like to know why no one would like to help me, is it not possible to make such a app or is it because the HVGA resolution?

One Annoying thing about the Lumia 800

I like to have my phone so that I can hear it when I get a text or phone call, so have the volume set to 30/30 and on ring and Vibrate.
Problem I have is that when I open an app or youtube vid it comes blasting out so I turn the volume right down, then I forget to put it back up when I exit the app, so I don’t hear my phone ringing.
Am I missing something or is there no media volume setting? Also is it possible to get new notification sounds and ringtones or to set your own, I’ve not put any sounds on the phone yet, and is possible to make the keyboard vibrate when pressed rather than make a noise?
Making the phone vibrate when you use in general is called haptic feedback and as far as i know the Lumia 800 has this only for it's 3 capacitive buttons.
I would search for an app that gives you haptic feedback for the keyboard.
Regarding the sound volume issue...all i can say you are not the only one complaining about this. Nokia/MS should have made two sound profiles. One for the ringtone/notifications and one for the rest. You could try searching for an app...my guess is that some talented dev. will fix this problems much faster than Nokia/MS.
I'm sorry i couldn't give you a better answer, but the thing is the OS is still in its infancy and things will get fixed in time.
I'm confident that you wont have to live with this issues for much longer.
Cheers
Thanks for the response.
I absolutly love the phone by the way in every other way besides the volume issue it is superb.

[Q] is there a way to answer a call with power button?

I found myself more than once trying to answer a call with the power button. Obviously, it doesn't work, but the next time I still try it anyway. Somehow it seems natural to me that this is the way it's supposed to work.
Even more so is the case when I try to answer a call in direct sunlight, where the screen cannot be seen very well, and slide-to-answer is annoying.
Is there any way to make it so I'll be able to use the power button for call answering? (I'm using cm7 RC1).

Is there a way to mute the microphone during a call using a hardware key?

anybody know? Perhaps some app that does it?
Basically I have to do a lot of long conference calls for work, and generally speaking you need to mute yourself when you're not talking so the line stays quiet. It is a bit awkward putting the phone down, waiting the screen to turn on and jabbing the mute button on the screen each time you want to say something quick. Being able to mute via a hardware key would therefore be extremely useful but i can't seem to figure if it's possible!
thank you

Click to collapse
Use a headset control app, like Jays, from the Play Store, and wired headset. One of the controls is double-click of the headset button to mute/unmute. Or you can customize the button to mute/unmute depending on how you click or hold the button, or whatever.
This does not work. In call controls aren't affected while music controls can be customized . Any work around?
This is a bit old thread, but I felt the same need and made a hardware switch that does exactly what you're looking for.
