Hi,
Does anyone know a good place to buy a cheap O2 XDA?
Some people claim it can be bought (with no subscription) around 500 Euro's.
I was unable to find a place where I can buy them for that price.
A shop around Amsterdam would be nice, but online ordering is no problem too ...
Thanx ....
Try eBay.com
Thanks for the reply
Good thinking, but we can't buy them from e-bay.
We need more then one, all with receipt.
And I think the risk of not getting the devices, or
(slightly) broken/buggy models is too big.
try O2 shop in Holland if they have them
in the UK they are selling reconditioned 32mb XDA's for 99 GBP with contract (can be data only), missing a few bits - headphones and software, but you can get these separate anyway.
I just cancelled my O2 data contract and bought another XDA with standalone data contract with PAYG voice.
Regards
Tim
Whereabouts are they selling them for £99 Tim?
buy XDA
Try: http://shop.brando.com.hk/
I just bought one from them excellent service ,
I sent them money via Paypal and the device was FedEx to me the day after.
Asa.

You mean UK O2 shops are selling reconditioned XDA for 99 GBP ?
It's unbelievable.
yes 99GBP - I bought mine yesterday from O2 shop in Bluewater, (01322 623860) but I guess any of the larger O2 shops will do them - I didn't check the O2 shop in Lakeside which is smaller.
It had no headphones, leather case or software.
The headphones you can get for £20 GBP
Those horrible cases you can get for £20 GBP (or a decent one off ebay for $30)
and I have the software anyway - and would imagine you could obtain easily from this forum anyway.
It had the USB cradle, power plug - uk & european pins, little serial power adaptor, stylus x 2. The xda was in near perfect condition , only the label on the back was slightly lifted, where i guess the technicans have changed something. Maybe others will be different.
If you already have a 12 month voice contact, the data part is probably only 3 months. So i cancelled my data contract and will give the sim to someone and took out a new data contract (12 months if data only) with PAYG phone since i rarely use the phone (which most sales reps won't tell you - and the data contract works out £10 a month less for me anyway.
and now i just have to decide which XDA I keep, and sell the other one.
Regards
Tim
O2 is still selling these refurbished PDA for 99£ in all their stores I've seen in London.
I am worried about the absence of software.
What software usually comes, but is absent on the refurbished XDA?
Is it software to install on your PC/Laptop or is it softawre for the XDA?
Thanks
XDA for sale
For sale : O2 XDA , brandnew in the box, 32MB internal memory, € 500,-or info: [email protected]
WOW 99 pounds I want one but without service - Possible ?
99 pounds WOW
I am really interested in finding out this software missing part .....
1- Please, let me know. If this software can be downloaded from somewhere around here then I would contact them immediately to buy one.
I don't need any service I just need the device. Is that possible ? is this price for the device only without any service ?
2- Is this tri-band !!
Thanks a million guys. This is a great piece of information.
Can't find anything for 99 GBP at http://shop.brando.com.hk/
I just went to their website but couldn't find any thing for 99 !!
so I emailed them [email protected] to ask.
GONE
No more. All gone.
Can some 1 in UK tell us how much will it cost to buy one in UK with the plan? I don't need the plan but it seems that this is the only way to get1, right?
There's nothing on their website but go ask in their shop
I've bought mine a month ago now for 99 pounds in London, in Hammermith Kings Mall, but the two shops on Oxford Street also had them for 99 pounds.
I admit I haven't checked since then, but when I asked last month they said this wasn't a temporary offer and it would go on.
They don't actually advertise them anymore, but just ask for the "REFURBISHED" XDA in the store!
As far as I can tell the "missing software" is the 2nd CD-ROM provided by Microsoft which contains Microsoft Activesync (and probably other free Microsoft software) which you can download for free from the microsoft website. http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/activesync35.asp
(version 3.6 is also available, but other users on this forum suggest you do not use it (yet))
It did come with the O2 CD-ROM
It did not come with the headphones, no replacement stylus, no leather case
It is NOT tri-Band
confusing response from O2
I went to the shop in Hammersmith this morning, they said they still carry the promotion but have no XDA "in stock" (read: none that have been brought back to O2 for "refurbishing") but when they will get some you'll still be able to buy them for 99£.
HOWEVER, i also called one of the shop in Oxford Street and they said they stopped selling them a "long time ago".
Sorry for the confusion, hope this helps.

I asked in the second O2 shop on Oxford Street, the one closest to tottenham court road ( Yes I know, I always go to the same places, ...)
They said the same thing:
- ...We don't have them any more
- But wil you continue the promotion if you get some more in stock?
- Yes...
He didn't say whether they were actually expecting to get any new ones in stock
I am not sure but...
somehow I get the feeling that the ease of unlocking has led O2 to change the strategy in selling these thingies.
On the other hand.....I just lost an online battle of command and conquer Generals. So there go my strategy skills

hi, i bought a xda unconnected from dixons for only £399
if you go into any dixons store, they will do a search for you across stores in the region, you must quote unconnected. (ex-display)
It would probably be cheaper to buy one on contact and throw the sim card.
12 months @ £15 per month = £180 + the cost of a phone.
If anyone does throw the SIM card, can I have it?
Regards
Tim
no local phone companys are offering the XDA /qtek..... phones
with a phone subscription which always lower the price of the phone
but i can buy the qtek 1010 64MB without a phone subscription but with sales tax (25%) it's 589.662 £ / 827.496 euRO
which is pretty high imho
are there anywhere in UK or germany or something like that where you can buy the XDA without a subscription much cheaper then that ?
(and are these places where they ship to other EU countries ?)
thanks for any help

I managed to pick up a 32MB XDA for £150 from carphone warehouse - no plan either. Ex demo model which was as good as new. The SKU is XDAXDEMOSILVER if you want to check with your local CPW to see if they have any in stock.
Hi
I am sure you guys will know- eBay UK is a good cheap source for xdas and I got mine (64mb version) brand new for £290; no vat. You got to play safe and check out the seller; for me I got his number, send a cheque to a proper address with the cheque crossed so that it HAS to go into a bank account and made him send me a proper receipt. You can also use one of those escrow service which only pay the guy after you have received the set in good order. Right now this minute, there are 32 mb brand new phones advertised for £250. Most of these guys selling the new phones are folks who have contracts with O2 and doesn't need the upgrade xda and tried to make some money out of it. If you bid for one, I figure the 64mb version would be worth around £300 ish and the 32 mb version is about £200 ish. This is from observations over the last 3 months or so and of course there is an element of luck as to how many people were interested in your same bid.
Good luck

XDA for sale in Italy
XDA is coming for sale in Italy in July/August as Qtek 1010 from 3 operators.
Vodafone: will sell it only through their business channel at first, later in stores as Vodafone PDA. You can check www.190.it
WIND & TIM: both operators should go commercial very soon, I guess September.
Good thing is in Italy non of the operators lock the phones. Therefore you can go into ANY store and buy the device without a contract or so on

Hi all,
The contracts of Hero seems rather expensive (£600+ over 18 months) for a phone that is worth £350-ish PAYG.
Unless I am mistaken? Please post the best deals you can find!
Thanks.
I paid ...
£97 for the phone, and a further ...
£30 a month for 600 mins calls, unlimited txts, unlimited internet (which translates to a fair usage policy of 500mb/month)
All on Orange Dolphin 30, 24 months contract
Probably way over-priced, but I was desperate and just walked into the Orange shop.
You can get it from t-mobile on an 18 month contract for 35 quid a month. phone is 'free' and you get cool black one (best colour IMO).
you get unlimited internet (which is actually unlimited) compared to most other carriers who will offer 500mb on a fair use policy. can't remember the calls and text allowance but its more then enough.
I believe it's 3GB actually with T-Mobile, which is A LOT more than the other networks here in the UK (as far as I know).
T-mobile is probably the best, but is still a lot of money. Their fair-use limit is 3Gb, Vodaphone and O2 is only 500mb which is stupid. O2 don't carry the Hero, but their iphones do come with true unlimited internet (but don't allow streaming video or audio, VoIP or tethering.)
If you want to save money, try www.moneysavingexpert.com and click through to their page on saving money on mobile phone contracts. It has links to the best serch engines for this kind of thing.

O2 isn't 500mb. They don't have a limit and i've never heard of anyone being contacted by them for downloading too much. I've downloaded 600mb+ for the last 2 months with o2 and had no problems.
I've had some massive usage months on O2 also and never heard a peep about it. The whole O2 internet experience is generally pretty good. None of the port blocking or (un)fair usage crap.
I was going to go with www.mobiles.co.uk - v good deals - but stuck with my Vodafone upgrade because I have more faith in their hardware, support and signal. That's worth an extra few quid to me.
Have friends who take out contracts with various third parties and have all sorts of problem. Not worth the hassle for the sake of saving a few squids.

I pay £35 a month for my FlexT 35 contract, and my Hero was free. I was out of contract on FlexT before, but I was paying an additional £7.50 a month for web n'walk, and I now get the free G1/G2 data plan so in essence it is cheaper for me now.
Regards,
Dave
Ive got my hero on vodaphone, £25 a month, 500mb internet, 500 texts and 100 minutes. Phone cost 70. Bought at carphone warehouse, Its an alright deal, would like to be on t mobile for more internet, but no signal for them where i live...

well £600 for 18 months is not bad at all had set free unlimted high speed data. The had set will set you back around £400 and no support from net works usually then theres the bloody hellish cost of data and calls on pay as you go so the t-mobile contract is about the best out there. And service from them is nearly allways amazing
I got mine on Orange Racoon 40 Websave over 12 months
Its just over £40 per month, including Internet, phone cost about £50, but I used QuidCo to get £50 cashback.

same - 12 months £32/month + £5 for internet. £50 phone but £50 cashback. Winner and I can upgrade change in 12 months.
I got mine from www.buymobilephones.net. which is one of mobile news awards commended online retailers.
My tarrif is on t-mobile 18-months with 700 mins, unlimited texts, 3GB data allowance and the phone was free.
I am paying £34.25 directly to t-mobile but have got 11 months half price line rental which is equivalent to £188 cashback. This is made through redemptions throughout the length of the contract which is similar to what carphonewarehouse used to do.

I had scoured the internet for HTC Hero and T-Mobile G2 Touch contracts as I badly wanted this phone and found no better deal than this.
EDIT: 3 Months free insurance as well.
Haha burgess_boy you post sounds like an advert But thanks! This is the sort of deals I am looking for. I used Buymobilephones a few years ago so I haven't got a problem using them again. Theres £20 on Quidco as well... nice.
@locutus-of-borg - The reason I think the Hero on contract is expensive is because I have had a lot of WinMo phones of similar value to the Hero, yet the contracts (inc internet) were cheaper - usually £25 for 18 months.

If you look at the TMo website, you have to pay £50->£60 per month to get a free WinMo phone.

I posted this to HUKD:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/467978/htc-hero-orange-12-months-600min-50/
Works out at £350 for the 12 months, assuming the £50 QuidCo kicks in (mine tracked pretty quickly). However, you'd need to buy Orange Internet @£7.50 / month, too.

I saw a few topics about help for buying s3 so i decided to get some help from you guys I'm going Hungary with AFS intercultural programs for 1 year. And i want to buy a Galaxy s3 from here. How would you buy it ? With 1 year contract or without contract ? Btw i'm going to buy a sim card from here if u can tell me which operator is better it would be good too.
P.S: Going in August so prices will be same i think.
Thank you
T-Mobile has the best services, quality and coverage.
The cheapest would be the one with one year contract
thank you jasahu do you know anything about Tax-Free shopping ? What about VAT in Hungary what percent ? And can i get a refund for VAT with contract ?

I do not much about tax-free shopping. I do not think that there any more to that than the usual airport duty-free thing.
VAT here was raised to 27% not too long ago :-(
I suppose there little chance to get a refund with a one year contract because you basically get refund if you leave the country soon with your recently bought item. When you do the shopping in person (as opposed web-shopping) I would expect them to give you the refund at the border when you leave, but that is just a guess.
But you can of course try it I suggest you should go to a T-Mobile (or Vodafone or Telenor office at a mall) they often have usable English speaking assistance and ask them.
Or ask them in e-mail. At least T-mobile.hu have an (limited) english version of their website and definitely trying to answer your question.
ok thank you so much I looked to all operator's websites but they haven't English in shopping section =/ i'm going to look for 1 year contracts then when i went there
Here are the prices for one year contract, in descending order of monthly fee:
https://webshop.t-mobile.hu/webapp/...=all&camera=all&camera_resolution=0&opsys=all
And I need correct myself when it comes to coverage, Vodafone has the best 3g coverage
