[Q] Preloaded Apps - HTC Rezound

I got a Rezound but I wanted to be on ICe Cream Sandwich so I installed Talon by the one they call NEO. Do I still have Beats Audio? Also is there any way to re-install the preloaded games?

the only way to get original apps back on is gain s-off and ruu to pure stock and gain root...go to /system/apps folder in a root explorer and pull the apk files you want....as far as beats settings no...however Viper4Android is much better then the beats configuration...plus you can download the beats lib files for it

You need to stick to a sense ROM to keep the original apps and/or beats, there's a rooted copy of the stock ROM in the Dev section you can use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260154
There's a number of modded Sense roms also, most have the preloaded apps removed, though you can put them back as REV3NT3CH noted.

[Q/Dev]Galaxy WiFi 5.0 apps/SoundAlive Music Player For SGS2?

Ive been having a look at Galaxy WiFi 5.0 here http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/mp3-digital-audio/mobile-internet-players/YP-G70CW/XEU-features and thinking in terms of media,it does have more feature and so it would need to be as its up against ipod touch so what if we had SoundAlive Music Player on our phone.makes listening to music that much better.you can see it here, you need to fast forward it to about 3:10 to see it action
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvizY73-rA0
its probably not just the music player, theres probably more but we dont know until we extract everything from the firmware http://hotfile.com/dl/123609225/6fc9623/G70JKKE3.rar.html
What does everyone reckon.possible or not possible

Looks interesting, i'd love that player on my SII .
Me to,we just need a decent port to get working
I opened up the firmware and extracted the Music Player apk in the hope that it would work as a rip and install job, tried installing and got the 'overwrite system app?' dialog, pressed yes and it wouldnt work; used root explorer to rename the original music app then moved the new apk to /system/app/ and rebooted...still not installing
Heres the apk on its own for if anyone wants to have a looksie and see if its missing any dependencies or can find whatever is stopping it working:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=957R056Z
Its definitley the one we need, as it has all the resources for Sound Alive enhancements in the /res/ folders etc.
*EDIT* Been poking around and theres a few files in the /lib/ folder of the original firmware that sound (ba dum t'sh) like they are sound related, for example: 'lib_Samsung_Sound_Booster.so'...just clutching at straws haha!

Fantastic work yeah i think itle need to depend on anything sound related thatle be able to make it.might have to try cooking into a stock rom to see if that works

I have this device with my right now and i have an SGS2 if you want me to help in some way!
It's rooted and currently running XXKD6, which is only FROYO, the latest available ROM is still FROYO too which may be why it doesn't work?
Would be good to port the SoundAlive app for all Android devices too, I have PlayerPro app but it lacks some 3D depth and spacialisation
I have actually begun doing just that, porting SoundAlive to any ROM, and I have finished porting the APK completely so it no longer relies on the Samsung TouchWiz frameworks and other libraries only available on Sammy roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45150100#post45150100
The MusicPlayer apk works, music plays but the SoundAlive isn't kicking in, probably because I have no idea which libraries to copy over in order for it to work. Does anyone have any experience with that?

[Q] do you guy trying to port music player from 2.2 to 2.3 ?

if you guy noticed it's a lil different from 2.2 to 2.3
in 2.2 it's can edit EQ & Effect with soundalive option but in 2.3 it's only edit EQ.
2.2 support big bass when on speaker but 2.3 not
so have you guy can port 2.2 music app to 2.3
if yes, please explain how to do that?
thanks in advance.
Have you tried other player app? I use Power Amp on my phone and the Galaxy player. It has many tone control capabilities.
yes,I already use PowerAmp too !!!
but just wanna know is it possible to port original music player from 2.2 to 2.3
Moved to proper forum
I also want this option to
I have download the Froyo Rom of YP Gb1 for TAIWAN (mine) but don;t know how to find the music apk (
Well, it will be in the /system/app/ folder, not sure how you extract it out of the rom, though.

Use magiciso to open the factoryfs.rfs of the froyo rom. The music player should probably be in /system/app and you can extract it with magiciao as well.

Hi Guy, I have found 2 file apk from Froyo of G1 China version
But it still cannot install to the Gingerbread system
Update: I rooted my phone, removed the music APK and SOUND PLAYER.APK
I use root explorer Pro to paste the two files .apk from China ROOM (FROYO) to my gingerbread sys/app. It can be pasted and changed the permission too
But after reboot, the music cannot be showed!!!! Now my G1 lost MUsic function
Try sideloading them; Go to /system/app/ find your two apks you put in there, click on them and hit install. this works for me with certain apps I put in the /system/app folder. If it still doesn'the work, you can just copy back the old apks and reinstall them.
Notice you called it a G1; the first Android phone was called the G1, do not disrespect it, lol!
I do that but it cannot install
PLease notice that I have posted in this topic with same issue

Hi all
I am happy again because I have flashed back to 2.2 Froyo (taiwan rom) and the Sound alive is amazing again )
I have tried to copy the 2.2 froyo apk of Music and Sound Player in system/app then using Root explorer to paste it in 2.3 gingerbread (after upgrade to 2.3, i rooted it with superoneclick)
system/app to replace the 2.3 ones. It can replace however it cannot show the Music application anymore (
Now I am happy with 2.2 Froyo rooted

[ROM]May-4|ICS|aosp-ish|Beats audio|RevolutionizedNonsense2.0final! BIG update!

Updated May 4th at 3pm - FINAL update, all future updates will be flashable on ALL roms. This update will bring all users to 2.0 FINAL. This includes all previous features: (Adreno drivers, sense removed, etc) but now includes FULL Beats audio integration, srs controls for htc music and play music, adds tweaks that HUGELY improve battery, and removes DspManager for compatability(this was keeping beats from working properly).
Having battery drain? There are tried and true methods here that can reduce your drain while using it OR with screen off(deep sleep). With fairly heavy use I get at LEAST 16 hours out of this rom by using those tips, and have even gotten 20 hours while still having 35% battery left- it can be done!
A mod is incoming that will be available for ALL roms- this is where future effort and support will be.
What's working? Everything.. well, almost 100%. The new features in the latest update may have inconsistencies to htc music player to make the hacks possible- need feedback. Full beats audio, aosp replacements of most stock sense apps, bloat and sense removed, improvements to battery life, updated 2d libs, and it is fully based on Android Revolution HD(by mike1986.) for its already many tweaks and ultra smoothness.
The only known "bugs": You must unlock stock lockscreen to answer a call- until aosp dialer works this is the way it has to be- also mms cannot be sent from the aosp app- anyone currently running these aosp apps without the proper framework will have the same issues.
The stock htc player may issue a FC when trying to shuffle or other misc features- conditioned unknown, only happened once.
In HTC music player do not select "Equalizer(Headphones only)" - this was hacked to allow true beats audio and will force close the app.
This is built on Android Revolution HD by Mike1986. Here are the base roms features:
Removed software (CPU) rendering - full Adreno220 (GPU) rendering
Fully optimized and tweaked
ROOT (su + SuperSu Permissions - Thanks to chainfire)

Issues:
Need to unlock stock lockscreen to answer call.
Installing:
*Note*
Always make a nandroid(It will save your ass!)
*Flash on full battery* - This makes a BIG difference
If you're new to ICS - Follow the instructions that you would need to flash Android Revolution HD EXACTLY and then flash RevolutionizedNonsense(I am forcing you to go to his thread!)
Do a full wipe(unless otherwise noted) and flash the rom and any other file listed with it.
I think that about covers it, hopefully this doesn't blow up anyone's phone, hopefully this will help someone besides myself till we get some more official AOSP-ish rom made by some actual developer- I think I need a beer.
Workarounds/tricks-
1. (Confirmed)If you really can't stand the HTC launcher and contacts you can download GO Contacts/dialer or exDialer/contacts(ex dialer ics theme) then go to system settings>app associations to choose your replacements-- Thanks UndeadSquirrel who pointed this out in post #34!
2. Also, for a little more speed, a little more battery or to learn about some features in ICS check this thread here: How to speed up and save battery on ICS- extra features explored..
3. Want to talk about how good/bad the battery is? Install currentwidget from the play store and read this thread- it explains how to make sure your battery is FULLY charged, and the widget can show you what your mah drain is- particularly useful to see what is happening with screen off OR on. If your phone is off but is draining 50mah+ every time it logs, your phone is going to die really fast.. to trouble shoot that you can get betterbatterystats from here.. but you can just read that thread yourself.

Removing spareparts - it wasn't working.
Removed a total of 61 Senseui and bloat apks(including visual voicemail which can be added in the market if you want it)
Included but not installed(requires more testing- want to help?):
Cm Music app is unpacked to your system/app folder but ends with .bak - some features in that app have also been unlocked, but because of some conflicts I did not allow it to install. Uninstalling/disabling/freezing the stock htc music player, then removing .bak from the cm music.apk and rebooting may give you a fully working app(try at your own risk) with its own set of features. For example: Music controls now work on aosp lock screen.
DolbyMobilev1.0.apk is included in the data/app folder of the zip but is not installed. If you wish to test those features just unzip the file and install like a normal app- should be working, but I am not sure if it conflicts with the included srspanel and full beats audio features.

His instructions include a radio, I never bothered to check to see if it is the same stock radio- but considering I don't know of any others that work with ICS..
I would say just to be safe, follow his instructions.
Code:
Firmware package
--- It's necessary to flash new firmware package before flashing this ROM ---
--- Firmware package contains newest radio for 2.x.x ROMs ---
--- Only for devices with S-OFF ---
Super Wipe
--- This script will erase and format your data, system and cache partition ---
--- Your SD card will remain untouched FAT32 and it's recommended to leave it like that ---
With 2.2.x ROMs I strongly recommend flashing 1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15 radio
--- Don't flash RADIO from ClockworkMod recovery! Extract downloaded file and read the guide inside! ---
--- Radio MD5 Checksum: E6B9DB2076951833B22ECFD88B59E288 *radio.img ---
--- Using a "non matched" radio could have a negative effect on performance, battery life & signal strength ---
--- You don't have to flash RIL files for recommended radio. It's already in the ROM ---
--- Only for devices with S-OFF ---
Even more reason to do it-- because this rom has literally has 0 issues no matter what I do.. smooth as buttah. Why screw that up by skipping a step?

Well it's just an unnecessary step from what I can tell cuz the radio listed in the instructions is the very radio that is on my phone. Since I have already installed the ICS update ruu, which the ROM is based off, then I should have the firmware. I'm not opposed to flashing the recommended radio but like I said just seems like one extra step that I don't need to take since it is there already.

I'll amend the instructions then, the only reason I'd leave it is to keep it noob proof- we do seem to have a lot of new users, and I'll bet someone will eventually flash this without looking at the instructions!

I haven't switched between them very much, I noticed in Apex you can resize widgets and a bunch of little things I didn't notice with trebuchet.. maybe I need to take another look.

So that is two for trebuchet? Any reasons in particular, as I said above, I need to check them out a bit more I think..
And I think I'm gonna take the beta tag off, I'm pretty damn sure this rom will have no issues unless someone just installs it wrong..
How would anyone feel about me removing the stock keyboard(if possible) and putting in the ICS keyboard(or at least adding the aosp one)?

Not sure how you read it, but I wasn't "hot" at all. The only thing that I said was that it wasn't out long enough, but I gave you my experience and reasoning. Sorry if you misunderstood
And thanks, I'm very happy with the way this is running too! I'd love to get a little theming done, but with it being THIS stable I'm almost afraid to mess with it.

I can agree with on the new users part for sure, and you should probably leave your instructions just for that reason.
As far as trebuchet I like it mainly for it's simplicity. I played with apex for a minute and it's nice to and there are a lot of features for it, but I prefer trebuchet because it's clean and simple.
I always install Swype for my keyboard cuz I like it and have been using it for a long time.

Correct, if you already flashed the firmware package Mike provided, then you are already good to go.
Silent, I have not used Apex or Trebuchet yet, but I do use GO Launcher EX. That might be an option for your ROM as well. But I will definitely try this one out. Just curious, do you have updating enabled via ROM Manager or some other app?
I'm currently downloading the ROM now, but I just wanted to say I think you should keep both launchers, let users decide which they want to use!

Hmm, I wonder if anyone would mind having ICS as an alternative keyboard included..

Until ICS I was using GO launcher EX, I found a good ICS theme for it.. but I think it was paid. I loved the features, but I am even MORE impressed by Apex, you just gotta play with it to see
And my original intention was to get this rom stable, and it seems pretty rock solid stable, maybe update it when mike1986 updates his revolution rom- but I wasn't sure if I was gonna keep working on it. If I decide to update with rom manager, I'll update the OP.
If someone made me a theme I can drop into it, I gladly would put it in

I kinda thought that way too, the rom is rooted, and even has es file explorer(which can use root) to remove anything anyone doesn't like.. I'm thinking of adding the AOSP keyboard, at least because I prefer it, lol.
And guys, I was doing some testing, and although there is nothing I can see for a way to bake it into this rom.. this post could explain how to get some extra snappiness. It made a HUGE difference(the first tip) when I am doing heavy multitasking- puts me at 400mb free ram with most of the used being for the apps I am actually using- 400 is amazing considering I have over 100 extra apps installed..
Just figured I'd share.

This theme is great to add to the AOSP feel! But I believe it is for odexed ROM's, I stripped as much HTC sense from my ICS update and applied this theme and it was great looking, there is also a batt % mod and an ICS icon zip in the thread.
Edit: LOL after reading your sig I can see this theme is already good to use on your ROM.......oops

Hey silent, I flashed the radio from the revolutioin HD rom per the instructions just to verify and it is the exact same radio. I wrote it down from my phone and then checked after fastboot flash and it was the same.

[P]Alternative vanilla JB apps for XP

I know ppl used to install a JB camera on ICS for XP. Is that still possible on XP JB? Are there other stock apps that can replace XP JB apps soomthly? Such as contacts (For high res profile pictures), sms/mms app, launcher? Will they (if possible), replace stock apps, or will they be additional to? I don't want to corrupt functions on my phone for this.
Also, is there a list describing what the different apps are for, and if they can be deleted/disabled or not?
BUMP! no one? not even stock JB dialer/contacs w/high res pics?
Hey there. Some ICS apps don't work on JB but, for example, RizalLovins' Cyber-shot mod for ICS works on JB.
DavidMDK's "Jelly Bean Fixes" thread has the links to the JB small apps, calculator and other interesting goodies.
Yes, you have to replace the apks in /system/app
It'd be nice if someone would test and make a thread listing all the ICS mods that work on JB.

You are talking about ICS apps, i was looking for JB apps. Like stock JB apps, the ones preinstalled on Nexus/CM devices. I would hope they worked right out of the box, or only needed a minor fix...
You should download CM10 for any HDPI device and extract the apps that you want from system\app in the .zip archive. For more stock apps you should download gapps (Google apps): latest for 4.1.2 - http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip - you can flash this zip but I recommend extracting only the APKs that you want.
That's what i wanted to hear But do you assume it works, or do you know? Can all apps be replaced, or just some of them? Would the android sdk sources fail, or could they be used as well?

If you're running ICS 4.0.4, go back to gb or move forward to jb asap.
If you want to know why, search on xda for emmc brickbug.....
In the meantime, don't do ANY data wiping of any sort......

eMMC Chip report :-
Typ : VIS00M
Brick Bug? No. Sane Chip.
This report is good or bad?
Well that would appear to be better news than for my chip (unknown) but I would still be cautious/careful about wiping data.....the last thing you want is an unrecoverable brick turning your phone into an expensive paperweight. ......

Afaik.....installing apps from an older OS onto a newer OS will cause system instability....which could manifest itself as anything from app force closes up to and including forced system shutdown and bootloops.....
Probably best to look for a 3rd party app that meets your requirements. ...

I can understand the the risk and I take the risk. If any possile then pls give me the guide how can I install Samsung Galaxy S2 Gingerbread Root Music Player in Jelly Bean? If is it possible then pls guide me.
Thank you.
As far is I know, the method would be to download the entire gb firmware, extract the app, copy and paste app into 'system>> apps', fix permissions and reboot.....
I would REALLY advise against it though.......
There is a VERY HIGH liklihood of system instability afterwards which won't disappear until the app is uninstalled........
Aaaaand.....if your current OS is a stock firmware, you'll also need a matching 'odex' file.......and I'm not sure how that file is created.........

Greetings my friend long time now buddy, when copying a framework dependant apk there will also be possible associated lib files most of the time which will be needed, and no need to worry about .odex file generation, if it is not generated by the installer then the it would be generated by the dalvik virtual machine at boot(remember android is upgrading thingy which happens whenever you copy an apk into system partition) or you can use the system cleaner app to manually generate odex files.
P. S The above post should give you an idea about why we wipe dalvik cache and why android is upgrading notification comes after wiping it.

So what say you to the OP's idea of installing an older gen apk into a newer gen firmware? Will it be as I think...incompatible. ...or can it be done?.......

If you want it, just download and install apk, no need to push to system, as i signed it

Lol, nobody said that it won't work, and most of us call these modded apks ports because of that, because it's made compatible for a different OS version or framework or even device's, we were just considering the fact whether the original Samsung signed apk would work directly. Because sometimes no modification is necessary to make an old app work.

Try using the Viper4Android mod it has a lot of functions and basically any music lover would be drooling over the several audio customization options available. It's so advanced that it's capable of using IR files for enhanced music experience. This is a really great work around unless you're adamant on the music player.

Damn...that's really made a difference.....totally impressed there fella......thanks for the share.....
Bass is more vibrant without the clipping....even at max volume.
Way more control over mid range
And the treble is really crisp.....even on the crappy stock headphones. ...
