[Request]Note 3 pen window and Almighty Search shortcut - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

Dear all
I flash leak 4.3 rom on note 2.
And I install note 3 air command.
I would like pen window and Almighty Search shortcut to let other app can add to open quickly like sidebar app.
But all function in air command are not in the app list, so other app can't select them.
Does anyone know how to overcome this question?
Anyone can help this?
thx~

for the note 3
I'd like to have a shortcut to the pie air command menu on my note 3, i don't like to use s pen just for that it doesn't make sense...
It'd be great thanks

Well, I think it would be the most natural tweak to do and I'm sure there is already a Dev working on that.
Editing air command window or create a app responding to the same system would be awesome.

The is already lmt pie launcher that can help you launch any programs you want to assign it to and then there it's GMD gestures... take your pick

[Q] shortcuts

Code:
How do I install a shortcut on the homescreen? When I long press and tap "shortcut" nothing happens. There are websites I visit frequently that don't have an app.
in your browser favorites if you long hold it will give you the option to paste shortcut on homescreen. i think it is long hold that does this
It worked for some, but said the others already existed (even though they didn't). Anyhoo, considering my ineptness, this is a success. Thanks much!
Yeah I figured more people would have said something about not being able to put application shortcuts on the desktop.. or make folders for that matter. I mean the menu comes up to add folder or shortcut but it just sits there after that.
Also how do you switch from one application to another? With my phone you can hold the home screen button down and a box will appear with all the running/recently used apps appears. With this I have to keep going back to the launcher and restart the app every time I just want to switch to it. Is there an app I have to add for simple task switching?
I have solved the switching issue with 2 free applications, 'PreHome' and 'Notification Toggle'. PreHome gives you a popup with open and recent applications. Use Notification Toggle to put PreHome in your notification tray and you have quick switching.
Thanks.. nifty workaround.. now just click on the notification icon.. then to the task switcher.. Now just need to figure out why the shortcuts / folders don't add to the desktop.
I am not able to add folders to my homescreen on my rooted nook tablet either. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
I will have to try out the task switcher as well. I was looking for that functionality.

Using Go Launcher EX, I create the folders in my app drawer by dragging apps on top of each other, and then dragging the folders to my home screen.
I believe other launchers have the same feature. Outside of that, I don't believe there is a way to create folder right on the home screen since B&N did not include it in their build.
I am using ADW launcher. I will mess around with it some more today and see what I can come up with.
edit: No luck creating folders on the home screen with ADW launcher, no matter what I try.
I've had the same issues trying to create shortcuts and folders on rooted NT. I'm using ADW launcher as well. My workaround was to create "catalogs" for the folders I wanted on the home screen and organize my apps this way.
To do this:
Open the app drawer, click the menu button, then pick "choose catalog" to create a new catalog. This creates a new screen that you can then choose "setup catalog" and check off what you want. Then go to the home screen, long press, and pick "launcher actions". There should be options to "show catalog ____". You can then change the icon to the folder by long pressing and choosing "edit" and picking the icon and loading a new pic, etc.
This will get you a folder with whatever games or apps you want.
I created a "Games" folder this way.
Regarding the shorcuts issue, try the program "AnyCut" to try to create shorcuts. It's not the perfect solution as I was unable to figure out how to create a "directions & navigations" shorcut from it, but it has a ton of options. Worth a look.

I made folders by bringing the apps i wanted to the homescreen, then dragging the apps together. The first two apps that are combined will create a folder, then drag more apps to it to add them. Long press the folder to rename it. This is all with ADW Ex.
Looks like com.android.settings is supposed to contain .ActivityPicker which handles the android.intent.action.PICK_ACTIVITY intent.
I wonder if I could just take the settings apk from my phone and throw it on my Nook. I have no idea which apk it actually is though.
EDIT: Derp, it's /system/app/Settings.apk.
adb shell
pm list packages -f
will give a list
EDIT2: Looks like all the code is there for the ActivityPicker, it's just not registered in the manifest. I'm almost positive I can just recompile it with the info added and shortcuts will work. I just have to figure out how to compile without compression or confirm the Nook can handle compressed apks.
For folder shortcuts im using an app called Folder Organizer. Once you get your apps sorted into whatever sort of folders/lables you like you can add them as a widget to the desktop. They function just like a folder and i just discovered that Titanium Backup will automatically usr them as a sorting lable fpr app filters if you need that.

When I try this, I get a message saying it's incompatible with my theme (BigDX ADW Serenity) and it goes back to the default theme. But even then, I can't create folders. Keeps giving me the same message.
I'm also using ADW EX.
Does go launcher or the other one work on none rooted NTs? I dont rewlly want to root right now because i have the warranty. And what is the "app" or program that has a home key on the side of the nook screen so that you can go between sideloaded apps and the actual nook? (Or is that just on rooted NTs? Thanks!
I've kind of gave up on shortcuts and folders. I spent a bunch of time (twice) setting a bunch of this stuff up to find it missing after a reboot No more.

Odd, I have no problem creating a shortcut using Activities/ and scrolling down to Directions & Navigation.
Also:
1. ES File Explorer can create file system shortcuts on the desktop. They open of course in ES File Exlorer.
2. BetterCut is more in depth and a much better interface than Anycut. Dev is defunct, but the .apk can be found with a search.
3. As others have said, creating folders is very simple with Go Launcher.
4. Button Savior (which I wouldn't want to use the NT without) long pressing the home button brings up a task switcher with the last 6 apps used.

GoLauncher definitely works without being rooted.
I'm guessing the app you mean is Button Savior? If so, the home button does work without root, but most of the features (like the task switcher) require root.
Otherwise you can use HomeCatcher to set up the N button for whichever launcher you want. It's been a long time since my NT wasn't rooted, but if I remember correctly this didn't require root.
What I like to do is use AnyCut to create a shortcut (Activities/Home) back to the stock NT interface. Then you can switch back and forth between homes interfaces. (Stock and goLauncher).
If you uninstall GoLauncher or other alternative launcher then home will default back to the stock interface.

GNote replacement SMemo for CM9 / CM10

GNote, replacement note application for S Memo on CM
Make sure to thanks the Dev.
I try this on CM10 and it works great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798117
Features of GNote
1. Multiple widgets which remains even after reboot. Widgets are updated as soon as the corresponding note is edited.
2. Multiple pages with easy navigation
3. Update existing widgets note
4. Simple toolbar which can be hidden.
5. Notes Gallery for managing notes. (image of the first page of the note is shown in notes gallery)
6. Notes Gallery - Multiple notes can be deleted.
7. Images from gallery and camera can be added to the note.
8. Settings - option to disable back key
9. Settings - option to disable finger touch.
10.It remembers last used pen and eraser settings and uses the same when the app is launched next time.
11. Very smooth and does not lag.
12. Clicking on the title bar of widget opens a new note
13. Clicking on the body of the widget opens the note corresponding to the widget.
When I tried it however long ago (doesn't seem to have been updated), it didn't have calibration settings. As a lefty, kinda worthless.
Edit, does have left handed check box, but prefer setting exact calibration offset in memo beta app by Nathan garside, this check box still leaves it wildly off.

Tutorial Setup for Easier One Handed Operation...try Swipepad + Nova Launcher!

At the end of this tutorial you should have something like this:
Essentially, I swipe my thumb from the upper right side of my phone (I'm right handed) and I have access to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and can just drag my thumb over whatever app I want to get to right away...
I can then swipe my thumb from the lower right side of my phone and have access to these:
Of course, this is my setup...so you can do something similar or not, but you get the idea. You can use whatever hotspots you choose too. If you want a set up like mine with many apps to access and different pads for different hotspots, you need the More Space add on[/B (paid)].
APPS YOU NEED:
1. Swipepad
Swipepad is the second best app in the world for me in terms of how useful it is in terms of general smartphone use (first would be Titanium Backup hehe)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.conduction.swipepad.android&hl=en
It's free with paid add ons. The free version works perfectly fine for me. I just got the More Space add on for..more space and more swipe pads haha and to support and give thanks for such an awesome app. If you want to have more than 1 pad though, you'd need the more space add on.
Essentially, you choose whatever hot spot/s you want (which are invisible), you can adjust the size of the hot spot to make it easier/harder to trigger too... You can then swipe from those hot spots and your swipe "pad" shows up. In your swipe pad, you get to put whatever apps or shortcuts of your choosing.
The hot spots are accessible no matter what app or game you happen to be in (be careful not to put it somewhere that could get in the way of your games though).
Paid add ons: Keypad, Widgetpad, More space. None are necessary for this tutorial but would be super useful for you.
2. Nova Launcher (or whatever launcher you prefer that has similar shortcuts)
Nova Launcher is an alternative launcher based on the AOSP 4.2 launcher. Very similar to Apex (I don't use Apex so I don't know if you can do something like this with it though). I don't know about other launchers either though they probably have some similar way of doing this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy5sYXVuY2hlciJd
3. Optional awesome floating apps to use in conjunction with this...I highly recommend AirCalc (free) and Floating Notes 2 (or similar floating note type apps..there are several out there, both paid and free)
STEPS:
1. Download the needed apps
2. Make Nova Launcher your default launcher app. Set it up however you want. Skip this if you already have your launcher set up the way you like it.
3. Go to Swipepad, you should be greeted with a tutorial but it's pretty simple to use.
- You'll probably see a red bar somewhere on your screen. This is the default hotspot location which you are free to change later on. The hotspot is invisible once you exit the app.
4. Under the GENERAL tab...
- Check "Enable SwipePad"
- Check "Indicator icon in Status Bar" - This keeps it always running. No affect on battery life, I promise.
- If you don't like having the indicator icon visible, feel free to check the "Transparent Icon" option though it might bother you that there is a random empty space among your notification icons.
- Other options like "Haptic Feedback", "Sound on Launch" or whatever are optional. They work as described.
5. Under the HOTSPOTS tab...
- You'll see an option to change the size of the hotspots, the default works fine for me but my thumb is quite flexible and muscle memory has made it super easy for me to swipe from the spot each time without missing. You probably won't need to change this unless you find you're having a hard time swiping from it. But trust me, it gets easier after the first few times you use it.
- You'll see a list of hotspot positions. Choose a hotspot/s of choice.
6. Select Default Pad. The other options require paid add ons.
7. Customize your SwipePad!
- To customize your swipepad, swipe from the hotspot you chose (it should now be shown in red). For as long as you have your thumb on the screen, you can see your pad. Just drag your thumb to whatever portal, the portal you're hovering on will turn orange (if its empty), lift your thumb off the screen, then you'll be able to choose what you want to put in it.
If you want to simply put applications, then just select applications, and choose your app of choice for that portal. Do the same for the other portals.
You can hide unwanted portals as well.
If you want to put shortcuts such as particular app activities, bookmarks, a particular contact, direct dial, direct message, whatever other app shortcuts..then select shortcuts and choose from there
Other functions like "Home", "All Apps" and "Context Panel" are also pretty useful.
Home - takes you straight to your desktop.
All Apps - shows you something like a drawer (non customizable) of all your apps sorted by either title or by recent use. You can also search for a particular app from there too.
Context Panel - takes you to some special functions for whatever you app you are using.
> You can share the app (as a playstore link)
> Go to the app's Google Play page
> View Application Info (force stop, enable/disable notifications, disable the app, clear data, clear cache, clear defaults, view permissions)
> Force stop the app
> Uninstall it
To change a portal link you have already set, just hold your thumb or finger over that portal for a few seconds, it will be highlighted orange (instead of blue) and then you can change it.
You can stop at 7 if you're happy with just shortcuts to apps and whatnot, but if you want portals to link to showing the Notification Drawer, your App Drawer (customized), Recent Apps, Search, etc... then keep reading
8. To have portals link to showing your Notification Drawer, custom launcher's App Drawer, Recent Apps..and all that jazz. Do step 7, choose a portal, select Shortcuts, select Nova Launcher. You will then see a list of shortcuts to Nova Launcher's functions such as App Drawer, Expand Notifications, Recent Apps, Search, Voice Search, Nova Settings..the others (like Toggle Notification Bar, Dock, etc.) won't work if you're inside another app.
Tada! Now whenever you want to access your swipepad, just swipe from the hotspot/s you chose, drag your thumb or finger over whatever portal you want (it will be highlighted blue when you hover over it), then lift your thumb or finger off~
9. You can easily access and change stuff around in SwipePad by accessing it from its Notification. You can also customize and change portals around even if you're not in the Swipepad app itself. You just need to open the app to start it up initially and it will always run from then on until you disable it again. Again, this won't affect battery life at all and doesn't use much RAM at all.
10. If you do get the More Space add on, you can create a new pad and have a different set of shortcuts on that pad..As you can see from the screenshot, I made a second pad entitled "Quick" to access stuff like Apps Drawer, Notifications etc. You can do this by doing step 5, then selecting "Add More", you will be prompted to type a name for the new pad. Then do 5 again, and select that newly created pad.
- You can change the number of portals per pad under the ADD-ONS tab in the SwipePad app. 4x3, 4x4, 5x3, 5x4, 6x3, 6x4 are the other size options. Again, you can hide portals you don't need to create the perfect size for you. 6x4 is the maximum though.
- You can also backup and restore all your pads too.
Hope you found this helpful and that you get inspired to create your own set ups from this tutorial of mine. Best of luck! Feel free to ask any questions.
Suggested shortcuts:
- Notification drawer (no need to try and reach it with your thumb or have to use your other hand to pull it down)
- Home (save your home button!)
- Recent Apps (save your home button!)
- Torch
- Camera
- Direct call/message your usual contacts..or just a shortcut to your SMS and Phone apps
- Screenshot
- Volume settings (under shortcuts -> settings shortcuts)..there's probably a way to access this (and brightness) immediately without going to their respective setting screens. I'm lazy to find out how now lol
- Brightness (under shortcuts -> settings shortcuts)
- Browser
- Note taking or voice recording apps
- Aircalc, floating notes/stickies, a floating browser, etc.
- Home
- App drawer (or All Apps)
- Context panel
- Quick post
Edit:
The most recent updates to the Swipepad and Morespace addon have added many new features that allow for MUCH easier editing of portals..like you can move them around, there's a dedicated portal editor interface, unhide hidden portals individually, customize app icon label position (hidden, above, below icon), even more grid options etc..
Definitely worth checking out, IMHO. I know there are contenders out there such as swapps and sidebar, but I find Swipepad to be the most polished and straightforward.
Agreed. Swipepad is one of the three most important Android app for me. The other two are GMD Gesture Control and Tasker. These 3 apps are the reason i can never go back to iPhone.

Under the General tab inside the Swipepad app..I believe there's an option to unhide all portals
LMT pie controls work great for me.
Looks nice but I personally love the simplicity of Button Savior. I can set what icons to show / and how long it will show. When I click that little arrow, the buttons show up for 1 second before disappearing. With the new update, the sizes are even smaller and more discreet.
For me using a android phone without swipe pad is a pain, n for phone as big as note it's indispensable, u can also add simple redial, a free app,
But on the downside this app is vry slow on updates (features) need to add many features which will eventually make it a complete launcher app,
One great feature could be live widgets on the pad, I fear if it's even remotely possible, but if done I wud never use my launcher anu more as I open all apps from Google search assigned to a spot

great thread with an awesome app find. thank you!
This is another similar app that I use on my device https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5maXZlcHJpbWVzLnJlbGF1bmNoIl0.
For those on touchwiz n other launchers, u can't set notification pulldown shortcut, i tried n searched in the play store didn't find any app,n hence made my own , place it on any slot preferable at bottom, n voila, hit thanks if it's useful, made from scratch on my note 2, without a pc

I've been using swipepad since my Evo 3d and recently with my s3 and now with my note 2. I have noticed swipepad slows the system down some. Can you guys tell me if you encounter the same. Download Epic Citadel and run the benchmark test with swipepad enabled then disable it. The framerate slows down and instead of my 45fps it goes down to 38. It also affects my quadrant frame rate.
Now I know these test are just numbers but unfortunately overall usage is affected as well for example in gaming like mc4, or nova 3. The framerate drops from time to time vs when I have swipepad disabled. I'm running stock rooted but on Tmobile.
How to use swipepad to launch from the bottom bar.
The default is set to launch googe search when swiping up from the bottom bar. How to change it ?
Thanks anon for the nice write-up. Can anyone tell me if the 'More Spaces' add-on has smaller portals than the default included one? Also, can the add-on allow you to shrink the spaces between the icons on the portal? It's really too wide! Cheers all!

Definitely yes, it has these sizes you can choose from:
4x3
4x4
5x3
5x4
6x3
6x4
6x5
7x4
7x5
7x6
I've been using SwipePad since Gingerbread. I've tried similar apps but nothing is as easy and simple as SwipePad. This app needs more love!

I recently updated my tablet from Kitkat to Marshmallow and realize that "Dynamic Pads: SwipePad add-on" doesn't work as Context Panel. From other reviews in Play Store I get feedback that this problem started a long time ago in Lollipop. Context is shown not for active app, but for active Launcher.
I overcome this problem yourself easily because I have rooted device, I moved "SwipePad Dynamic Pads" app from user apps to system apps. Now it works again as it should. Probably some app's permission restriction in LP/MM...

[Q] Tasker Auto multiwindow 2 apps

So im trying to get both my maps app and pandora or something else to open from a one click button on homescreen or nfc tag. I want them to open up in multiwindow mode one in each place.Has anyone saw this or knows how to do it? Im running Cleanrom 4.9with full access to multiwindow and root. Anyone have any ideas? would greatly appreciate it.
I realize this is an old thread, but, have you tried/used this? LOVING it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bjbinc.mwmphone
You'll need to know:
- It does not enable/turn Samsung's MW mode; it doesn't need to, but it's nice for it to be 'on' so you can resize windows.
- You'll call a shortcut to that app from within Tasker - scroll to the bottom of the list apps and you'll see the "Windows Shortcut (2 Apps)" listed.

Missing Action memo in the Note 7

There is no S-Note anymore. Now it's Samsung Note. They say it merges all the tools there existed before, but though i can see it for S-Note and Scrapbook, i can't find anything similar to Action Memo in it.
I went in the store to fiddle around with a Note 7 they had on display. To be clear, I've owned a Note 4&5 and used Action memo and S-Notes quite a bit.
There are three items I see missing from Samsung's including in Samsung Notes as well as three shortcomings, or changes, that I don't like.
1) There is no more Link To Action. Period. Which is a HUGE bummer - since I used it almost daily to scribble down a number, and then link-to-phone dial it. That or using the link-to-task for crap I had to remember. ** please correct me if I am wrong here - I couldn't find it in the app or in the additional installable add-ons.
2) When you are in an Action Memo and press the home button to pop back to the launcher such as for running another app, the little "chat-head" style memo icon is no longer. This is the same thing as the Minimize function on the Menu. One the 4/5, you could drag it around the screen and tap on it to go back into the open Action memo. Not any more. On the 7 you have to open SamNotes, and a message pops up saying your note was saved and you have to open it from the list. It isn't waiting for you already open. Not 100% sure about using Recent Apps key to switch back into it.
3) The "Return To List" menu option is gone. Can't get back to the list of Action Memos from an open memo. Getting back to the list of Notes seems more convoluted on the 7.
Changes that I don't like:
1) The Action Memo widget is changed. On the 4/5 you could Pin to Home if you were using Sammy's launcher and have a 1x1 or 2x2 representation of the Action Memo. One the 7, you can still Pin, but it is a 5x1 (wide, not tall) sliver of the note. It's scrollable and can reduce the size down to 4 wide x 1 tall. no more 1x1 or 2x2. Another bummer. There goes my page of action memos widgets. I'd have 5, 10 or more pinned on my go-to page for reminders.
2) The Set Reminder is a small alarm bell icon at the top, which is only active once you saved the note.
3) The Glance option can be used once the note is saved. On the launcher, it can be dragged to one of the four corners. It pops up when you hover - but won't when you tap it. And you have to delete the Glance for it to go away, which is just crap.
So, there is action memo on note 7? As you said widget has been changed. How do you access it if gone from the pen menu?

I use Action Memo a lot. It makes no sense why Samsung would combine that with S Memo and just make it into one. The whole idea of Action Memo is to access to it quickly. By combining it, there are more steps to get to it, that's my understanding from watching that video.
If enough people complain to Samsung about it, maybe they will do an update and put it back in the air command and leave it the way it was. I know Samsung is trying to clean up Touchwiz, but this was not the way to go about it.
somebody found it..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMQs3K_e9l8
although I couldn't do it.... either hoax or I missed something!
I watched that video before and I don't know what to make of it. Best we can do is contact Samsung and let them know we want Action Memo back. Doesn't make sense why they would take away one of the best features from their Note series.

He posted a Part 2 - and said he put a link in the comments although I didn't look for it.
I'm gonna head to Verizon tomorrow or over the weekend and try to get it working his way. If I can get it reliable, then maybe I will get one.
Really pissed Samsung would pull this awesome app with very useful features. Without it, its like Apple Pencil or a Wacom tablet: great for drawing within a specific app, but not worth the price....

So, there is action memo on note 7? As you said widget has been changed. How do you access it if gone from the pen menu?

I don't have the Note 7 in front of me to be 100%, but I believe there was a downloadable add-on or extension that allowed for S-Note widgets. I may have called it Action Memo widget, but it may now me called S Note widget or something similar.
That's the first thing I'll be looking for when I get my Note 7 tomorrow. It's not a deal breaker for me. I tweeted Samsung about it already. I don't know if they will address my disappointment to the right department.

mmmm... interesting.... I didn't do anything special... you could try opening s note app first then close... other than that I don't know.... just play around.. or uninstall and start again.
definitely works.. link to action etc etc
DONT FORGET TO PRESS SPEN SIDE BUTTON WHILE DOUBLE TAPPING!!
oh yea widget also works so you could try that also
to be sure..... download all the extension packs available within app I gave..... two wouldn't install for me... but three did
Guys....you're overcomplicating this.
Just hold the S Pen button and double-tap to get it back...it never left; you just need to hold the button down now.
