It wasnt clear if he was using atat htc One.
I have tried this 20 times and i get stuck with this
it reboots fine once into hboot reboots once into fastboot then locks up at adb reboot
i have all the proper drivers i have adb drivers installed .I have unchecked fastboot in power settings
I also have downloaded the proper rumrunner for my firmware which is os-3.17.502.3
Am i missing something here guys ..is this even possible with the att One on 1.55 hboot with 4.3 android or am i on the wrong track waisting time, this is rediculous

All I can tell you is that it worked for me. AT&T Unlocked HBOOT 1.55, firmware 3.17.502.3, ROOTED... just like yours. After I ran rumrunner a prompt appeared on the phone screen that I confirmed with OK and that was it. The phone rebooted several times and ended up with LOCKED HBOOT and S-OFF. I had to unlock again with a new Unlock code from htcdev.

Did you do this on windows 8
Did u have to extract the rumrunner zip into a specific folder such as fastboot folder and run it from there?, did u need adb drivers it says if you htcdev unlock the adb doesn't need to be downloaded.
I mean of all else fails where's the exact files /links you used , there's to many variables here can you help any further ?
Why won't my phone keep rebooting past the 2nd fastboot reboot instead just keeps counting.

Yes I did this on Win 8. I unzipped the file in a folder on the desktop and ran soju.exe file. I had the ADB drives installed for my previous HTC One X. Didn't download anything extra except for the rumrunner.zip. Make sure you are full stock and rooted. Also you have to uninstall HTC Sync if you have it installed.

I'm starting to think I'm experiencing a usb3.0 issue on my gateway which is apparently a huge issue topic under the how to get around soff block thread ..
Windows Usb3.0 on windows 8 doesn't work well with fastboot.
But it seems complicated to change/force Intel usb3.0 drivers which allow fastboot adb to work flawlessly in place of the windows 3.0 usb .
That's the whole issue here I believe.

Hboot 1.55 LOCKED S-Off w/ Rumrunner
So, I unlocked my boot loader with HTCDEV. I than used Rumrunner to gain s-off and root. It worked but now it says Tampered "locked" but is S-off. I'd like to unlock my bootloader and if possible without HTCDEV again. I just got the phone set back up. I backed up my apps but I couldn't get TWRP to load through a flashing app or Goomanager. I'm guessing this is because I'm locked. Can anyone help?? Not sure what to do here. Sounds like you guys figured this out but I didn't see the howto..
is it ok to ask what the purpose of s- off is?
I had to be on stock ROM to be able to S-OFF when I tried the other day. I also had to put all the rumrunner files in the same folder as my sdk/adb stuff. Make sure, if your phone prompts you to accept the connection from the PC, to accept.
Is your phone even showing up when you try 'adb devices' ?
Yes, that all worked fine. I ended up installing Clock work through their app.. never could get twrp to work

The purpose of S-OFF is so you can change the CID (carrier ID) and a few other things. It is the master access to the phone pretty much. Once you change the CID you can flash stock ROMs (custom roms can be flashed without S-OFF), which allow you to convert your AT&T HTC one to the google play edition or any other edition like the European editions.
I got it to work on my One. I had to try twice. I think it failed the first time because of an SU permission popup or something which I pressed allow but then rumrunner ended without finishing. The second time it worked though.
How did you uninstall the HTC Sync app? I've tried a couple of different ways, but it comes back after I restart the phone.

You have to relock the bootloader so the RUU can recognize it.

First off, make sure you downloaded the correct RUU for your hboot. Then do this in fasboot mode:
RUU your device (with your phone in fastboot):*
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
You have to have your phone in fastboot mode in the bootloader and you must have the ruu and fastboot.exe in the same directory on your computer.

there is no Jellybean RUU. There is supposed to be an OTA update very soon to 4.1.1, and from my knowledge, Sprint released and OTA for a pre-jellybean release. They're going very slow with the OTA updates though of what I heard so far because iPhone users are killing the towers for some reason. Jellybean was supposed to be released on the 27th.

I googled HTC ONE X+ RUU. And was fruitless. Many are third party ROMs, and I'm not sure where to download the correct one. Even which to choose I'm not sure.
drivers installed?
There's a link on the TWRP thread you should have read before installing.
As Lloir says, do you have the HTC driver package installed? What recovery you have, should have no impact on how fastboot detects your device, just install drivers and flash a working kernel through fastboot.

Hey i got the same problem and to start here i'am a noob in this. This is my first Android device and my first time trying to install a ROM. I used Hasoons all-in-one kit, and unlocking to bootloader went fine, so did recovery and Perm Root. I tried to install Android Revolution HD 5.1, so first I tried to install the other firmware that was needed for it, that is 1.16.401.6. I did something wrong there i guess and its stuck at the HTC start up logo. I tried to make sense of the posts above but i couldn't. My PC doesnt recognize the phone anymore but if I use a command from the all in one kit it does still respond and i can use the power and volume down button to go into bootloader. I tried some things there but really dont know what I'am doing. If someone can help me to get a ROM installed or go back to factory settings from the phone atleast make it work again would be much appreciated. I think i installed all the drivers because it worked before and it still does respond to flashboot in all-in-one kit. Sorry for being so noob. and thanks for the help.

Could someone please post an idiot proofed set of instructions to do this.
I have the relevent RUU.exe file, but simply running it doesn't work.
I'm assuming I need to replace the boot.img that I flashed with a stock one, but I don't know how to get it out of the .exe file.
My phone is bootloader unlocked, and rooted, and I can get into bootloader or clockwork recovery, but I can't get any new ROM onto the device via USB.

Hi all,
Here are my steps so far:
Unlocked bootloader using htcdev website
Installed TWRP recovery: openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jewel.img using flastboot.
Installed stable build Cyanogenmod 10.0.0: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=jewel&type=stable (side note: I've also tried the latest Nightly and M snapshot)
Factory wiped device
Rebooted
Stuck at the CyanogenmodMod boot splash screen. The icon animates and I've waited about 10 mins but never gets to the desktop.
Here is what I have in the hboot screen:
Jewel PVT Ship S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.09.0000
RADIO-1.12.11.1210
OpenDSP-v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMC-boot
Oct 18 2012, 15:46:20
Of course I forgot to backup my original ROM, so I tried installing a stock ROM and now phone is stuck at "HTC quietly brilliant" page x_x
I looked through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869377 but I'm still confused as how to recover my phone. I still can get into hboot and install different ROMs.
Sorry being a dummy and thanks for helping!
Being that you're S-on, you would need to flash the kernel separately for Cyanogen. Download viper or meanbean as they are S-on friendly. Follow their instructions for flashing. Get up and running and consider going S-off.

Try downloading and flashing MeanBean. Make sure you follow the instructions to get it installed properly. Flash the ROM zip, then reboot. The phone will boot to the HTC splash screen, then automatically reboot to recovery. Flash the ROM zip again, and you should be good to go, just give it a few minutes to boot up. As far as issues connecting with fastboot devices, it sounds like a driver issue. You may also want to try rebooting your phone and computer:thumbup:
You do have ADB set up on your computer, right?

Stick to a fairly stock ROM for S-off. Once you're finished you can flash whatever ROM you like. You'll need to use Moonshine to gain S-off on your phone, so head over to the Original Development section and take a look

Hi guys,
Resurrecting this post
So I decide to go for S-Off now there is a new stable release for the Jewel. I installed MeanBean and ran Moonshine (moonshine_jewel_3.16.651.3) on it. I got a weird message at during the moonshine process ("WTF: What are you doing?"), however when I rebooted my phone I saw S-OFF, so I guess everything went well *enough* .
Next, I installed Cyanogenmod (cm-10.1.3-jewel.zip). Everything went fine and I didn't have to manually flash the boot.img this time ^_^.
However, my cell reception does not work anymore! I can't make/receive calls or get the internet with my phone. What happened? Does something need to be updated that I missed?

Hi guys,
Resurrecting this post
Thanks again guys!!

Did you have service on your phone after you completed the S-off process? Many times, after S-off, you have to call Sprint to have them refresh your service. You'll need to be on a Sense ROM. Afterwards, you can go back to CM.
You can also try updating your profile.

Hi again FinZ28!
I didn't check after getting S-off if I still had service. However, after I switched back to a Sense ROM, Meanbean, I did not have service. I tried a few things and it magically started working. When I installed Meanbean this time, it asked me to activate my phone, which it succeeded. Because I didn't have 3G service I couldnt update my profile or PRL, however over Wifi I was able to. After the two updates I restarted the phone I got voice service but not functioning 3G service, although it showed "3G" at the top I was not able to load pages. So I tried calling Sprint Customer Service, which is *2, which actually take you to an app called Sprint Zone. Within that program you can check if you have voice or 3G service, which confirmed that I didn't have 3G service. However after another update profile and another restart the 3G started working. I restored my CM install and after a 2nd boot (first time didnt work), everything worked fine
Conclusion: thanks again guys especially FinZ28! Looks like Update Profile/PRL needs to be done a few times with restarts in between before it starts working after S-Off.
Glad you got everything working:thumbup:

So just trying to prepare myself for when I get my phone back from repair that HTC puts 4.3 on there instead of 4.1.2 since Att release is out now.
My understanding 4.3 comes with hboot 1.55 what are my chances of achieving s off with the rum runner if this happens or any other ways
I know if it gets sent back as 4.1.2 a d hboot 1.44 I'm good.
Just curious as to what I'm in for if they do put 4.3 on there
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium HD app
I'd like to also find out some information regarding this topic. I had my device swapped because I couldn't take the purple camera any longer.. and the replacement had 4.1.2 installed, but when I booted it and during setup, I let the 4.3 OTA come through and installed the update (not even thinking about the hboot version).. So I now am stock 4.3 w/ hboot 1.55 - I'm assuming at the moment that I cannot really do much until we get 1.55 hboot correct? For the fun of it, I tried running the AT&T 1.26.512 RUU but it failed
OP: not hijacking your thread, just didn't want to create a new thread with the same topic..
No sounds like you have the exact problem I could have
In warranty disclaimer it says phone will be loaded with most recent os released for your carrier.
Now that 4.3 is out I'm afraid HTC will just load that on their
Sucks I had a off before camera problem

Are you saying that if I have 4.12 with Hboot 1.44 that rumrunner will give me s off. The only list I have seen of versions it works for is on the HTC One forum and all of the versions seem to be international or verizon.

You can use moonshine or revone (which I used) with HBOOT 1.44, however with HBOOT 1.54 you need to use rumrunner but it is not the same unlock as with revone because with rumrunner you actually need to unlock the bootloader via HTCDEV.
Ya but Att 4.3 Rom comes with hboot 1.55 is there a way to downgrade to 1.54 and then us rum runner

Not trying to hijack the thread but I just replaced my G2 with HTC One and this HTC One has 4.3.
I have tried every method on this site but I can't get adb to work in order to s-off.
Is anybody else having the issue where when you do adb devices, it says offline?
I turned fastboot off, developer options on, debugging mode on and adb devices on macbook, parallels and windows 8 machine..all say offline in front of the phone id

No matter how many times I've tried it. I followed the directions exactly as stated. The only thing that changed is now I have the "tampered" flag in the bootloader.
Also, I'm doing this with a Vista 64-bit machine. I've tried using the "adb devices" command several times before executing soju, but still no luck. I'm running a completely stock phone and the only modification I've done is the HTCdev bootloader unlock. Has anybody had success with Rumrunner for 3.17.502.3 ?

there is something new with 4.3, they kinda block the adb. when i was on 4.1.2 the adb "fastboot" command working just fine, but once i ran the ruu and update my htc one to 4.3, now when i type adb devices it show me my device but OFFLINE. so it might be a new hidden menu to activate the adb port again "make it read the device" or maybe we need a new driver "which i doubt"....
Well I saw they have the Att firmware on rum runner site 3.17. Whatever the rest is so we should be fine at getting soff I just have not seen someone say they have since Att stock is is hboot 1.55 but ill figure it out when my pphone get back
Hoping its 1.44 hboot and I can downgrade and unlock bootloader without HTC knowing this time but that would be to easy and I'm sure ill have stock 4.3 1.55 we shall see this week !

So, I unlocked my phone and tried to run the rumrunner with no luck.
Even after bootloader unlock, adb devices still says offline in front of the serial number.
Has anyone figured out why it says offline and how to enable adb mode properly after 4.3 update?

If I run the adb devices command, it will sometimes say offline. If I run it a second time, it shows it's connected.

I've also tried flashing the official RUU to my phone for a completely fresh start, and still have no luck.

I'm having the same thing.
One time it says offline, the other it says connected.
I've ran rumrunner_m7_3.23.666.1 almost 5 times now with the same result. The only difference is that my HBOOT screen says tempered but I still have S-On and I don't think it's getting anywhere. It does the pouring and restarts the phone quite a few times but I'm guessing it's not having any luck. Maybe rumrunner only supports up to HBOOT 1.54 and since we are HBOOT 1.55, it won't work?
Here is how the process has went the 6th time I believe when I ran it:

I may have figured it out.
I had version 3.17.502.3 on AT&T HTC One and I've been running rumrunner for .666 version.
I just downloaded rumrunner_m7_3.17.502.3 and about to give it a shot. Will keep everyone posted. Sorry if I annoyed anyone with my dumb post and mistake :silly:
I never got to the pouring part, but I was also apprehensive about using Rumrunner for a different version. I can't remember where I read it on here, but one of the 2.24 users that did it bricked his phone. Or rather it bricked itself during it's first phone call after s-off. No confirmation if it was due to using a different rumrunner than what he had, but I wouldn't want to be the first guy to try. For that, I thank you.
Interesting how the version you used doesn't have all of those test waiting for fastboot and adb.
Thanks for the kind words and motivation EsJayEs
I'll keep everyone posted. Someone has to be the bait or nobody gets the goodies :good:

I'm guessing because I tried wrong version and now my HBOOT says tempered. Maybe I'll relock bootloader and try to run RUU to go back to stock and start over. Aah, I wish I would have never gone to G2 and stayed with my HTC One that I had working and perfectly setup!
I re-locked the bootloader, installed the latest AT&T RUU, unlocked the bootloader, then ran rumrunner_m7_3.17.501.3 which matches my system version and OS version in HBOOT menu but it seems like it's still not working.

Still don't have my phone sounds like it could be because hboot 1.55
But I don't get why our Att firmware is on rumrunner site if hboot 1.55 don't work because the 3.17 firmware ones with hboot 1.55 and they make it very clear to be stock.
Man I need my phone back I'm ready to start trying

That's the exact problem I had time and time again.
Double check you have the right rumrunner for your firmware. Im sure you have.
Don't worry about doing the fastboot bit, you know its all connecting fine.
Boot your phone as normal, on to the phones home screen. Open a command prompt in the same folder as yout ADB link.
Type ADB Devices, and it should find your phone, model number and so on. Leave the window open. Then start rumrunner. It worked for me 1st time then.

Hello all, I've just recently recovered my DNA back to stock from a botched ROM install on the 3.06 software. Prior to running the RUU, I used Rumrunner to unlock my bootloader to put CWM on as my recovery. Then I had to re-lock it to run the RUU. Now I'm stuck at re-unlocking it. The HTCdev site is giving me a MID not allowed error and I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact that I used Rumrunner? Call me stupid, the DNA is still relatively new to me. Thank you!!
You shouldn't need to relock it to RUU. The RUU will overwrite your recovery with stock but the bootloader should remain unlocked (and s-off if you did that as well). At this point you should be able to just run rumrunner again to unlock the bootloader and then you can flash a custom recovery and go from there.

Tried doing Rumrunner again, Getting this error, "ERROR: run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on?
Drivers?)" I've uninstalled the drivers via device manager, let windows 7 reinstall them and installed/uninstalled HTCsync with no luck.
Edit: Nevermind, tried a different cable. Hate it when that happens.
Edit 2: Rumrunner must have failed, device still relocked.

ADB Devices is a command issued from the command prompt. It should return the S/N of the device connected. If there is no response the drivers are not installed on the PC. If you are using Win 8 or 8.1 you will have issues

I have heard if you flash a new hboot the relocked text will go away, but I haven't had this issue myself so I can't personally confirm it. I do recommend updating your hboot and radio, though, for other reasons like better radio signal.

Updating the hboot and radio seems a little daunting. Definitely something I want to look in to once I can figure out how to get a ROM on this without calling a mulligan and starting from scratch again.

Adb is universal to all android devices, I highly recommend getting used to it if you plan on rooting future devices, the only thing native to HTC is the S-OFF portion of eMMC

Are you S-OFF? If so issue this command in fastboot:
fastboot oem writecid 22222222
Go to htcdev.com and then it will allow you to unlock the bootloader also make sure you have 8 2's in the command.
