Hi,
This is not my work but I want to share it, the original thread is here:
[SCRIPT TO ODEX] Universal Odex Script Version 6.3 (10-09-2013)(MM-dd-yyyy)
I was on stock rom so Odexed and I flashed a custom Deoxeded rom (for some features and mods)... But I loose the smoothess of my stock rom..., some kind of lags and stutters scrolling in settings, openning an app the transition animation is not smooth, etc... And by searching on the Android Development and Hacking forum I found this thread above...
I had a doubt about the real improvement... But who knows? Nandroid backup, I follow the guide and... My phone is smooth as before, apps open faster, like on stock! All the mods flashed before works, no bootloop, no force closes, all is fine
BUT there is always a but, you're custom Deodexed rom is now Odexed, nothing dramatic but good bye the mods for Deodexed rom (bootloop) so before flashing a mode make sure it's for Odexed rom...
You can flash your favorite Deoxeded rom, flash some mods and then Odex your rom, you'll keep your mods (at least for me).
For Deoxeded... Reflash your rom or a backup (Deoxeded).
Download the attached file.
Place it on your sdcard.
Reboot in recovery and in the first place make a Nandroid backup then flash the zip in recovery and reboot.
You'll see that the app Script Manager was installed, open it then type (press enter after each line):
su
dexo -all

A line will appear then type "Yes" and press enter, the procedure will start, maybe you'll have some Force Closes, it's normal then the phone will reboot... and enjoy!
For more details about what exactly does the script, a better explanation, etc... Take a look to the original thread.
Don't odex the Data app or you'll need to reinstall your paid apps (and before delete the .dex files), you'll encouter a lot of force closes, etc...
I tested on LG rom only...

Hi,
It depends of the mods?
Generally, use your mods then Odex your rom, there is a chance that after Odexed your rom you can't properly apply other mods...
I think the OP is clear...:

I would like stock deodexed ROM just rooted with busybux + su + necessary tweak.
Stock kernel with ClockWorkmod recovery.
This would have a base stock for those who just want to customize a stock rom.
Please Dev's make a simple stock ROM without theme or glow effet, CRT effect.
Just simple!

If you're after this, try VillainROM 2.1 with CF-Root KG2 kernel.
That is basically what you just asked for
2.1 isn't totally deodexed (if deodexed, it will cause a browser lag to return), but all the APKs in /system/app are deodexed, and themeable, and I believe you can theme the frameworks fine too

I have written a "How To deodex" in this section.
Just follow it. It's working perfectly with KG2 firmware.
In order to avoid the lag deodexed browser :
In your customROM folder, just left the odexed framework folder
In the /system folder, replace deodexed browser.apk with stock odexed browser

if you are using Omega ROM v11 (Stock), then congratulations, you are using a very good ROM.
this mod makes it even smaller and fixes some nasty bugs.
it removes everything thats not needed to run the ROM. if you need any system app back, just push it to the phone from the original OMEGA v11 Stock rom!
Why not install the OMEGA v11 Stock ROM and remove the apps later?
if you start with all the apps, they leave traces, call home and other things.
so its better to start a ROM without these apps ever running, not even 1 time.
Where is my google maps, youtube, blabla app?

What is included?
the base for the modification is:
[ROM][XWLP8][21Apr] Omega v11 Stock
*) all apps that can be installed from the market are removed (like googlemaps, youtube ...)
*) removed Swype!!! (its the crappy version with extra umlaut-keys) if you need swipe you can install it later, or PM me for a version without extra umlaut keys
*) Phone.apk with callrecording (this time done the proper way, no FCs, compressed format for files)
*) Contacts.apk with configuable view, meaning no sms in call logs (this time done the proper way, no FCs. and settings are saved in prefs)
*) TouchWiz30Launcher.apk modded for clean startup with clean desktop (this time done the proper way)
*) moved Omega_Files_ICS_v0.1.apk from /system/app to /data/app (this thing should not be in /system/app)
*) exchanged the bootanim to NEXUS S (from Omega files), because it just looks nicer [ok, so stone me for that ...]
*) removed some annoying sounds
Charger_Connection.ogg
TW_Battery_caution.ogg
TW_Low_Battery.ogg
(so when you plugin the USB cable, it does not make that loud PING anymore)
*) removed lots of system apps/widgets and services
*) removed auto reboot after installing the ROM (you need to manually reboot after installing)

unpack the zip file on your desktop PC
download omg11stock_patch.zip from

unpack the omg11stock_patch.zip file into the SAME directory
answer "yes" to overwrite any files
pack the resulting directory to a new XXXX.zip file
push the XXXX.zip file to your SDCARD and flash via CWM (it does not wipe! but it is highly recommended that you WIPE !!)

i fear it will work, but you will have stock look on some applications
ask indie to support it, then i will make it for all future OMEGA roms

yeah its for german only. you can see it in this picture:

It will work for v11.1 because the only thing you modified which changed in this version is the phone mod (you just won't have the full screen photo mod).
I took a look at your work, and your updater-script is REALLY messy...
You also delete the data/app folder which contains the user's apps. Not cool.
Some important files are also deleted, strange (here) ! Everything is still working after applying this ? ._.
It takes 5 minutes to theme the 3 apps modified, why didn't you do it ? ... If you modded these apps properly, it should be easy for you.
Here are the two zips themed for BB and ICS. I didn't test. It should work (as the stock one do).

messy? not really.
yeah data/app is deleted because those can be installed from the market. not everybody want so much stuff installed
and yes everything works after applying this. thats the point. everything useless is removed. if you need any of those samsung bloatware things, dont use this mod

Flash It Like A Rom/Zip
It works on all slots (Multiboot) if using Turbo Kernel
Boot Time Change is noticeable.
why is this script deleting all files in /data/dalvik-cach/ ? wouldn't making sense to just delete dex files of the newly odexed system apps or framework ?

A mixture of ODEXed and Deodexed files can cause problems.
Some apps have different dalvik when ODEX.
It is a stability measure.

There are a lot of ODEX methods and scripts out there.
I just uploaded the CWM Method used in the ODEX Roms we currently have.
This could work on JB/ICS but not guaranteed (Phone/Contacts apks may FC)

It's usually because of your android.policy.jar.
Either that or you have jar's that contain no 'meta-data'.
Open up all your Jar's in /System/Framework and see what's missing.
half of my system apps don't have their odex files even after fllashing the zip multiple times ! i don't know what's keeping them from odexing
also if i transfer any new app to system/app , its odex file can't be generated ...

It is a small script that does not ODEX everything but only small amount of files.
Full ODEXing is reccomended through ADB and not CWM.
Some things can't be ODEXed in CWM
Also this only ODEXes apps used by system, your own apps will not be ODEXed even if you move to system and re-run script

Dude, how come the statusbar disappear after odexing?? Its like there's no systemui present. Not even an fc popup. Just no statusbar. I've tried several times still got the same result. Any clue what might be the prob??

I have no idea, I just decided to share the script other devs use for those who are unaware/want to ODEX their roms, I can't tell you exactly.
Cache and Dalvik clean are recommended though.

At Odexed Rom doesn't work. When deleting SemcSettting.odex the "SETTING" icon in applications disappears.
All files in system/framework need to be either odexed or deodexed (unlike system/app which can have a mix). If you haven't deodexed all files in framework then you must have an odex version for this, which we don't, so deodexed only (deleting odex files doesn't work as deodexing is merging the two files not just deleting one of them)

is there nobody out ( @Rajeev, @Pandemic, @niaboc79 ...) for cooking a simple non-customized Stock D6503 23.4.A.1.232 flashable ROM
which is deodexed, pre-rooted and with Super User Mod (patched services.jar) inside???
All stock ROMs 232 are modified the more the less by its builder.
But i just want a clean one with the things mentioned above.
Creating a flashable ROM with PRFcreator will do the trick, but these ROMs aren´t deodexed and have no Super User Mod inside.
So come on guys...

deodexing your rom is pretty easy, I wrote a short guide here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63302497&postcount=2
as for patching system.jar , if you use xposed it can be done easily using one of the adds
this way you can stay up to date with a deodexed rom

i tried it but i have no success in deodexing (tried it about 1 day with different methods) - after flashing the deodex_patch.zip with the deodexed files inside i always stuck in bootloop.
I'd love to do this, but I have a super ****ty connection and it would take me forever to upload, not to mention connection dropping completely.
Any suggestions for and app that will allow me to upload somewhere and resume on connection drop ? will dropbox work, or the mega app ?
