Which dual recovery kernel did you install?
Still on stock Sony system?
What version of the firmware were you on?
You will get bootloops with mismatched kernel and system

When I get the phone it's already android 4.3,the kernel is advance kernel v5.
for 4.3 you will want the get GhilliChan's dual recovery kernel, in the general section: thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575909
flash that with flashtool in fastboot mode and all should be good again

Zu is not included yet. This is what HTC has been doing for ages. Not sure why everyone does it this way...
There are two rules in life for being successful:
1. Never reveal everything you know;
2.
Sony has now made these available for a variety of Xperia devices, including the Rhine family (which the Z Ultra is). Excellent news! Thank you, Sony ❤
Would this new bootloader brick the Z Ultra GPE?
ZU is now supported but I tried flashing it today over stock 5.0.2. Foraging showed as successful but nothing happens when I try to boot into recovery. The phone just reboots normally
What benefits is thing going to offer over what we previously had? Trying to figure out if I should wait with anticipation or apathy.

most likely it will brick your gpe. And you don't need this "new" boot loader, Gpe has all the features already. It's just Sony devices had the function removed.
This boot loader allows booting directly to recovery without having to go through the boot partition. GPE doesn't let you do that right?

I followed the directions and it said the device has no new updates. Where did you download the firmware? I have a C6806.
Thanks

As far as I can tell, only c6833 is supported so far.
But if you wanna give it a try, head over to sonymobile.com/developer. you have to install the Sony flash tool for xperia devices.
when you open the flash tool and connect your device as instructed on the website, it will show all the available 'services' you can flash to your device.
Have you guys succeeded in booting to recovery? Coz I have flashed TWRP to recovery partition and it doesn't boot
Regards
Would be interesting if the GPe stock firmware can be flashed after this, since GPe and the normal ZU are more euqal than ever with that.
Anyone tried to flash stock GPE after this flash ?
Since a lot of you guys seem to not get into recovery after installing the new sony bootloader i might share how i succesfully did it...
I've installed the new Sony-Bootloader (or how Sony calls it "TA-Update") on my Z-Ultra (C6833)
After that i immediatly booted into fastboot and flashed twrp to the recovery partition (fastboot flash recovery FILENAME)
Succesfully booted into the twrp-recovery version i flashed
Device didn't got wiped, but cache partition did get wiped
But i was running twrp-recovery (but im pretty sure it wasn't the newst version) before on fotakernel, also i was running aicp-rom
Didn't do any experiments afterwards, but we'll see what happens after i flash a new rom
Hey guys.......i have zu c6802 which isn't supported in emma yet.....so is it possible for me to get this new bootloader???????

Didn't work for me. Did the same but it didn't boot to recovery, it booted up normally. I had twrp installed in FOTA, too.
I flashed in a virtual machine with Windows Vista since I wasn't able to get Emma running in my Windows 10 x64 Pro.

Flashing stock 14.6.A.0.368 installed the recovery partition for me. (C6806, which Emma is still to provide me with the partition)
The trick is to actually find a recovery that is written to work in the recovery partition, Saatvik Shukla has posted a build of TWRP over in the developement forum which works. The "Official" version over at twrp.me doesn't

Thanks man, I searched for something like that but didn't found that. That explains why it didn't boot the recovery. I'll try that later.

First you need to check to see if it is even unlockable. *#*#7378423#*#* software configuration if you can see Bootloader unlock allowed: yes your in luck
If it says Bootloader unlock allowed: no you won't be able to root the device.
Then just follow the instructions for the single sim model on Sonys Web site it goes off the imei no I do believe, so it'll know what model you have. Don't forget to go in developer options and turn on OEM unlock. There's no way to back up ta keys either so once they are gone they are gone that's why I'm waiting.

Looks like no one has shared much about the XA Ultra F3216
If you have not found a solution to your problem with root info let me know. I think we need a couple threads on this model because it seems to be vey different than the others of its family. I am rooted and loaded with Xposed but it was and is a large work around.
This video shares hot to root the F3112. The process is the same but the source files are different.
YouTube video: Xperia XA root guide
To clear the default encrypted partition: When you are in TWRP recovery, wipe userdata partition. The new one will not have encryption.
But a big problem i have found no solution for yet is...
I am not able to boot into TWRP without flashing the recovery then after using TWRP I have to flash the boot.img b4 I can boot into the system again.
So I flash recovery from my computer. Do everything I need to do in recovery then while in recovery I need to flash the boot.img then install root.zip clear catch then reboot to system.

Hello,
I started on a quest last week to try and make my long forgotten Xperia tablet z LTE SGP321 more user friendly.
I stopped using it after being frustrated by the bloatware and its lack of customisation.
So I thought flashing a custom rom might help and wanted a bit of a technological challenge. Boy do I feel like I've got one.
I used kingroot, which worked fine. I tried to install SuperSu but it wont update the binaries.
I've managed to unlock the bootloader (forgot to do the backup TA woops!).
I downloaded TWRP app, flashed pollux_windy to recovery. Now there doesn't seem to be a combination of keys that I can find to boot the sony xperia tablet Z into recovery?? Power and volume up or down or jamming both keys...nothing seems to work. I've found one forum post suggesting it isnt possible and that I need to flash a kernel which is where I'm getting stuck.
SO this is where I am now and was wondering if I should use CWM instead or if there is another way to open recovery?
My main aim is to completely clear the tablet hard drive and start again with a custom rom.
Thanks!
>>>>>>
NEW info
So i've managed to use the ADB to reboot into the boatloader. All that happens is a black screen. I want to try and flash CWM or TWRM but it doesnt seem to work.
Im beginning to think there's something strange about the sony xperia tablet z in that it doesnt have a bootloader in its stock firmware. i've seen something about using a Kernel approach but the guides are unclear.
Any help on flashing a CWM or TWRM into recovery would be much appreciated!!

Thanks for your help. I thought I'd start simple and just try and flash TWRP to recovery.
i downloaded the latest TWRP pollux windy img and then used the command fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
It says FAILED (remote: command not allowed)
adb fastboot devices displays my tablet
(by the way in configuration in service info it says bootloader unlocked: Yes)
>>>>>>UPDATE
so i managed to flash a cyanogenmod img using "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
The device then soft bricked and went into a boot loop. Is this because I used the wrong version of cyanogenmod?? Any other I can try that work?
I panicked a bit, mamanged to get the tablet into fastboot somehow andthen flashed a TWRM img to the boot using the same command above which now loads TWRM.
fastboot reboot now caused the device to go into TWRP but its in recovery mood
How can i undo that step i did when I flashed the boot img of the cyanogen mod. I want to put the old boot.img back!

also can I ask another quick question of you, what do you do to boot into recovery on your xperia tablet Z device?
Thanks!
Sorry about all the updates.
I decided to see what you had installed on your signature and tried resurrection remix. Version 5.8 caused Error 7??
So i went for version 6.9 which i installed successfully.
Only way i know how to get into recovery is to use adb terminal command "adb reboot recovery"
Also before I installed resurrection remix would you recommend a complete wipe of everything or does it not really matter?
Thanks and hopefully that's me all sorted!
Use VOL+ or VOL- on boot to enter recovery.

2 way for me:
- usually you can set an "advanced reboot menu" under developer option or the ROM customization panel (depends on which ROM do you use)
- turn off your tablet, now push the power button until your screen just turn on, leave the power button and start pressing vol+ and vol- alternately until you boot into recovery
On my xperia z3 d6653 I have this rom installed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/rom-existenz-marshmallow-v1-0-0-29-04-t3368343
All was going good for months and today I installed busybox and my phone is caught in bootloop and even lost twrp recovery.
The Purple led blinks when I press vol down key but it doesnt boots into twrp instead it simply keeps showing sony logo.
Can I simply flash twrp recovery and get access to my data stored on internal memory which is very very important.
Please help me somebody.
Please also post link to twrp compatible to my D6653 model which I will flash via Flashtool.
