Reaching to the XDA family to help me troubleshoot strange issues with my 10.1 WiFi Tab. Starting a couple of months back the tablet hold not come on once i was pressing the power button and I had to hard reboot to getting back on.
I assumed that it's the power management and I turned it off, but the problem persisted. The I could see that it started to hang at the Samsung animation screen with the sound blocking like a bad CD.
I've run a hard reset cleared cache but the problem still present. It's running stock 4.0.4, was never rooted or custom ROM on it since new.
I don't really know what to do next and I'm looking for pointers.
Thanks for any help.

If u have cleared ur sdcard ( wiped it clean ) and are still having these issues...it could be power button related...
I would look and make sure the power button is not sticking...then after that. Make sure you don't have anything corrupted on you're sdcard.
If none of this works....I would root and flash a newer tw based ROM..
Let me know if u need help..
Thanks for your response Gil81. When I performed the factory reset or wiped the scard clean. The button it's not sticky and it function properly.
I'm thinking it might be battery related but not sure.
Any good rom's that you recommend?

Hi guys , had a weird problem with my end call/power button.
Out of no where my end call button stopped working. I've found its most annoying because i usually press it to turn the screen off ( lock the screen)
The button doesnt appear to be broken or anything and doesnt work when i press hard
I did a software factory reset this morning via the phone and the button started working again! but its gone 3 hours later again!
I havent recently installed anything and it appeared out of the blue... any help??!
Same problem here! Nothing helped, hard reset, another custom rom, back to stock rom and radio...nothing. Hardware failure, I suspect. Sending it back to factory under warranty. Never had a hardware problem before in 12 yrs using mobile phones.
kinda fixed it now, dont know how though, did a hard rest and formatted mem card, removed everything and didnt reinstall half the stuff i used to have inc all the cabs from here.
its working now on the new rom just fine, but its the first time its happened to me too, and i didnt even do anything !
try a hard reset and wipe and reinstall youre old cabs at ure own risk!

I recently bought a viewsonic g tablet off of ebay. The tablet is pre loaded with vegan tab ginger edition. When I recieved the tablet I turned it on it loaded a few screens then came to the vegan tab screen. It shows up then goes black then comes up vegan tab again. It continues to do that and never boots up. Any suggestions on what to do? Should I return it or can it be fixed reletively easy?
Thanks,
Dan
Hold down volume + when you power it up, that will get you into recovery. Then use the volume +or- button to navigate to factory reset (or wipe data ) then press the home button. Once that finishes go to reboot (the option at the top of the list) and press home key.
Oh, if you can't get it to power off, holding the power button in for 30 seconds will hard shutdown the device.
I tried the reformat or wipe data and it is still doing the same thing any other suggestions. THis is very frustrating because this is the first day I have had the tablet and it will not work.
Thanks
Do you try to do factory reset from recovery mode?
Yes I tried factory reset from recovery mode but I looked around and found the fix and I had to repartition the sd card to 2048 and 0 and that worked perfect. Thanks for all the help.

Awesome, that is always the next step. Wish I could have gotten back to you earlier with a response but its good to see you got it figured out. Did you end up sticking with vegan Ginger or flashing something ddifferent?
Well this is the first time i have ever messed with software other than stock i had an archos 70 internet tablet and i liked it but they had an update that caused lots of issues so i sold it and bought the g tablet i like the tablet so far but there are a few things i dont like like the keyboard and i have been having an issue where the browser just shuts down and goes to the homescreen. Overall i am happy with the tablet but im not sure if ilike vegan tab if there is any you would reccomend and how to get them i would appreciate it. Also this came with vegan tab is stock any good what would you reccomend to use im new to this tablet so the help is appreciated.
If you like the feel of vegan Ginger I would recommended trying cyanogen mod 7. You can find the link stickyd at the top of the general forum. If you want super stability and speed I would recommended clemsyn+calculins combo in the development forum. It gives a closer to stock feel with all the tweeks and a built in add blocker that makes surfing the web a dream.
bonuses to right now to cm7:
you can mod one file and get it to run Netflix.
It doesn't randomly shut off the tab when its in extended sleep like other Rome.
Bonuses to Clem+calkulins combo:
Full video drivers for hardware and software support making watching downloaded movies better.
Super fast and responsive, there is not one bit of sluggish in it.
No matter what your using, I would recommended using the newest dolphin browser. It is amazing and has tweaks specifically for tablets.
Good luck

I just got the G Tab... and having the same issues. Could you provide some documentation on the "Fix" you did to resolve the boot issue?
The last couple of days, I have not been able to download apps or updates from the Android Market to my Flyer. I can download from the Amazon app store, but not from the Android Market.
It says it's going to download, makes an attempt, and then nothing happens. No error message is displayed.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I had a similar problem also posted on XDA. It was suggested to me to do a factory reset/clear data which worked. Problem has not come back.

Mine gets stuck trying to do the factory reset, and I have to force close. I tried to hold down the volume down button while powering up. Still nothing and it went to home screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Is this over WiFi or are u on 3g?
It's over WiFi.
Hmm I'm over WiFi as well n haven't had ne problems. Weird that amazon works n the reg one doesn't. Have any weird port fwding going on? Wouldn't hurt to reset the router just for fun to see if it made a difference ....
My probs are more with hard resetting the Flyer right now. But thanks for the input!

So, you didn't switch-off the fastboot option? Factory setting is on and with it you can't reboot the device and not enter the bootloader.
To switch it off, see here
I ended up checking youtube and saw how someone reset the Evo. I held down the volume down button, and then the power button together (took at least 10 seconds!) then released both when I saw the hboot screen come on. I was able to hard reset it from the menu there. I can now download/update from the Market again. Thanks so much for the input. Hope it helps anyone else having problems.
Glad to hear its working again mate... Cheers!
My SGS2 stopped vibrating. Tried flashing, un-rooting, restoring stock and factory settings. None of these worked.
I am inclined to think that it is a hardware problem.
Has anyone else been dealing with issue? I read some posts on XDA regarding this matter but they were software related as opposed to hardware. Can anyone post instructions on how to fix it or provide any solutions for this issue?
If its hardware, why not flash stock, remove binary flash count with USB jig, and return for warranty?

Cannot get jig in Palestine. Bought the phone from the UK. Sending it back will be problematic. I will look for a repair shop.
Thanks for the quick reply
That's a "bummer" (bad luck). You could make a jig, but as you said that it would be problematic to return. Hope you can sort it easily. Sorry, can't think of anything of use right now.

hey there,
i got the same problem. no more vibrating at all. not with calls or notifications and not as haptic feedback. it started today (was still working in the morning), though i did not drop the phone or anything.
i am still hoping too find that it's a sw-problem. but all potential solutions i find do not help. so i guess i have to contact samsung.
but before i do that i have to get rid of all "hacking".
could you plz tell me what i have to do?
i have now cm9 20120402 nightly.
but i still have a cwm-recovery-backup of the original touchwiz (gingerbread).
-so first i make a backup of my current rom via cwm and of all my apps via titanium and store everything on my pc.
-i flash my touchwiz-backup
-i get one of those: http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ld-keywords=Samsung+Galaxy+S2+USB+Jig&x=0&y=0 , plug it in, wait til its done and remove it again.
after that, samsung will never know i "messed" with the phone??
or do i have to consider/do something else?
tyvm!!
kws
I have the same issue.
When I was on my stock 2.3.5, I found a workaround:
- go into test mode (dial *#0*#)
- find the vibrate button, when you press it, it shouldn't work like you expect
- go back
- plug in your headphones and push the cable a bit to the left
- test vibrate again - this time it should work
- pull the cable out while vibrating, still pushed to the left, vibrations should stay on
I know it sounds crazy but it seems the hardware part that controls the vibrations is near to the jack port - excessive use of headphones, like it was case, must have damaged it somehow.
However, now I'm on CM9, so no test mode for me, I'm achieving the same effect by bashing the back button, so I get semi-constant vibration. I know, It's ridiculous.
Have the same problem here, I think it's software related because the shut down vibration stopped working when I flashed CM9 ICS, I can't remember if it was working anywhere else though. But now I'm back to 2.3.5 and it's not working at all. Did a Factory Reset, Cleaned Cache before and after the flash. Also used the Jig to reset my counter. Any clues?
I am experiencing the same issue.
Yesterday, I downgraded from 4.0.3 back to 2.3.5 as I was having a lot of problems with ICS. Now, my phone works fine again except for the fact that it does not vibrate anymore. (Which it did fine in 4.0.3 and before in 2.3.5)
I tried the trick Lechium06 mentioned in this thread but that did not work for me.
Anyone else having this issue? More important, anyone have a solution???

I saw something similar on CM9 thread, they said it could be a "bad flash", not a corrupted rom but the lack of proper cleanup before and after the flash. But I cleaned up everything before and after and I don't like reconfiguring the whole phone again for nothing.
it happend again.
dont recall what i did or if i did something last time at all. but it worked for over a year now. and now, my sgs2 doesnt vibrate at all, i tried all possible settings, tested with z-device and rebooted. nothing.
apprechiate any hint!
thx!!

AW: [Q] Vibrate function doesn't work anymore, hardware issue
since i had that before, i ruled out a hardware issue. it happend when i played with the system settings. but as i sayed, i tried to reverse everything i did. now after i updated to 0206 and wiped cache and dalvik, still no vibration.
is there anything i could have missed?
is there a possibility to reset all settings to default without deleting all my data?
thx,

I assume since your posting in xda developers that you are rooted?
If so, just back up data with titanium backup app and factory reset, setup system and then restore USER apps and data only.

Did you install another rom?
My vibration for example didn't work with some cm10.1 nightlies
it started in cm10.1 20130203. then i tried wipe cache and dalvik. nothing. then i updated to 0206 (wiped cache and dalvik again) > still nothing. went to bed. got up. everything ok! its vibration again! i am 100% sure, it did not work, when i left it on my desk last night. this morning, i checked for missed calls and it took a moment until i realized: i got haptik feedback back on patternunlock and keystrokes! checked ringtone-vibration: fine as well!
dont ask me how! would still like to know for myself.
thx,
kws
AW: [Q] Vibrate function doesn't work anymore, hardware issue

Hi everyone...
Some days ago, i was trying, OmniROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544790). I follow all the steps and even get the superSU app going. One night, y saw how my nightly got updated, and in the morning, start to reboot randomly. If I push the power botton sometimes, doesn´t appear the blockscreen but the screen with the reboot option and turn off appear...
I put my cellphone back to stock with root using SuperOneClick from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081. Then, I format my sd card and internal storage...The problem persist...
I would like that someone help me, I'm tryin everything and didn't solve it...
Based on your description, it sounds like a hardware issue -more specifically, a failing power button.
I have read that some users were able to fix the issue by disassembling the phone and spraying out the switch with contact cleaner, and I have read that others had the power switch replaced altogether.
Hopefully others will chime-in with their thoughts.

I had to replace my power button. this is a known issue with the s2.
I recommend this guy's services: http://stores.ebay.com/t989-refurb -- he can do the i777 even though it's not listed. He's a very nice guy and will do a fine job.
