Too bad to see that now almost every pre-installed app went proprietary.
Somebody should take the AOSP apps and make them as good as Google's one's to keep Android really open.

They are slowly doing this with all of the apps so they gain control again. Open everything up and give it away for free to get market share then close down the apps again to try and keep it.

And exactly there is the problem!
Do we want Google to have control?
The quality of Android lies in it's openness.
If all system apps are controlled by Google custom ROMs cannot customize and extend them anymore. Exactly the customizability we all love is what we will lose this way.
Too bad I can't code Android apps myself
I guess that leaves ubuntu touch in the spring.

Interesting to see they went back to having camera and gallery as separate apps.

The bootanimation.zip file, of course, so you know what you're downloading is not corrupt.
Hey guys,
Can someone tell me where to find SystemUI.apk? I'm looking for battery, wifi, 3g, etc.. icons, that are normally in SystemUI.apk.
Thanks for any info.
Here is a Mirror to the system dump that is extracted so you don`t have to download the entire thing Hosted on my server for fast speed

Guys, any clue where the Battery icons are stored? Searched in SystemUI and framework-res already and haven't found them.
+1, i also need most of the framework from systemui

Okay, Battery indicator is controled by smali and xml, not by images
Good to know, thanks! but that is a bit f** up to copy to any other phone, smh.. :/

Hi guys, I need help and instructions about how porting the interface of native apps customed MIUI (like Settings, Messages, Phone...) on Enomother.
I can access to the ROM files and sign the modified ROM for working, but how is the correct way and where are located the custom UI files?

Bah i feel bad being a jerk.
They are two separate ROMS. They use different Framework. Hence all of the differences.
Just make a choice. MUIU or Enomther. This is why ppl are saying *wow*.
Guys, is only the customization of three miui native apps (phone, messages, settings) that I need, is really impossible porting this on Enonmther?

themes simply change the fonts and images being displayed and the framework determines where those fonts and pictures will be displayed among many other things so no a theme will not get your fix either...
pull out the images from MIUI that you want, resize them to the correct sizes if you have to for the rom, put em in enomther framework, zip up framework, rename to framework-res.apk, and push to your phone.

Perhaps your interpretation is correct :/ .... (shrug) ...
@matiu ...
I guess I (and others) ... probably don't understand the appeal here ... if you want MIUI functionality (or look and feel) ... the general question would be why not use a MIUI based ROM ....
Help me understand what the appeal of using my ROM with a MIUI look/feel is exactly?
Outside of your reasoning ... what you're requesting is no easy task for sure ... would take lots of skill/talent/effort (especially given the lack of source code for MIUI [to my knowledge anyways]) ... :/ ....
Also perhaps labeling the thread with "[DEV]" is a little misleading ... this is more of a "[REQUEST]" that I can tell/understand ... I get a strange feeling the demand/interest/help for such a request would likely be "low" ... just a guess.
But again ... lots of effort involved with your request ... I personally am not even about to try sry!
But thanks for spelling my name correctly in the title! lol
~enom~
Lol. Even the Man has spoken. Dude give it up.
And you should be asking the fellas doing Miui instead. And I mean the fellas in China doing it. Not the guys translating the Miui rom for us in xda.

Not to rip on you because I hate that but I just read this over again and I have come up with the proper response....huh?!
Is there a valid reason to not just use MIUI if thats what you want?
I think Enomther is the best ROM for Nexus One, I tried MIUI ROMs but sincerely for me it's better Enomther (functions, stability, battery ecc..).
I only want the "iphone" style of native apps (phone, messages, settings) because they are a lot of better for me and for my everyday use.
I don't want a porting of MIUI launcher, just the customization of these three apps, and in addition (if possibile) the pop style ecc...
I believe that they should be only image file or more, why we can't make this?
XDA Developers has ported Android on windows mobile devices, this is more difficult to do?
P.S.: I haven't write [DEV] on the title of this topic, probably a moderator did this, however yes, I'm not a developer but if you tell me how exactly I have to do, I will do it.

lol I think even for an experienced & skilled dev it takes alot of time to do this (if possible), I don't think normal people can do this because it's whole lot of changes in everything. But as dowmace said, why don't you just use MIUI itself if you like its elements? Enomther is a stock android un-themed (except the Manup themed one) but MIUI is a whole new & different version of android that doesn't even look like stock android. almost everything in it is changed...

What launcher are you using? Most allow you to replace icons with ones of your choosing, you'll just have to put them on your sdcard.
If you're wanting to theme icons at the system level, or your launcher doesn't allow you to select a custom icon, then you'll have to modify apks.

Send me the icons and I'll make a flashable .zip for you that will change them, hassle free ( plus a recovery one so you can revert them if you don't like them ).
It's 2 minutes of work
Edit : I figure you want to change them while using Touchwiz, because replacement launchers do it easily anyway

Not strictly true - although it is an app drawer replacement.
Can change icons and names with this, my favourite ever app ever of all time ever.
As I've posted before, if there's an easier way to edit icons/text and retain functionality, I have yet to find it.
Especially because I couldn't modify an apk if my life was at stake...

Hey guys.
I have spent the last 2 days re-theming the conversation skins for the stock LGMms3.apk.
I was inspired by whiteguypl's theme HERE.
This has his dark holo theme included. (Has the same little issue where the text color of links that people send you is the same as the background color).
(If you have an issue with this whiteguypl, please let me know).
I have included screenshots for all the themes.
I know they are a little rough, I am still brand new to themeing.
This was some pretty tough work (mostly because I had to learn a lot and made a few mistakes in the process).
Usual Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any harm done to your device from flashing this.
I have flashed it fine on my phone without issues but cannot promise the same for you.
This replaces the LGMms3.apk from /system/app/, so I strongly recommend either a system backup in recovery or at least making a copy of your LGMms3.apk before installation.
Install via recovery.
I have only installed this on The Base 7.3, but I believe it will work for Nocternal Rom and even stock (you may have to rename system/app/LGMms3.odex to LGMms3.odex.bak, I've heard this worked for other users with another mod).
If somebody would like to try on their ROM and let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.
Download HERE! (Was too big to attach).
Thank you for your support guys, this community is pretty great.

Haha, thanks.
I stuck with the original dark holo mod by whiteguypl, loved it.
Loving the themes dude!
Just one question though, how would one go about changing the background? For example I love the dark skin with the blue and grey message bubbles but I feel if it had like a dark grey background, it would look a tad better and easier on the eye. But that's just my opinion so if there's a way to change it, I would sure appreciate the advice

You could extract the .apk with something like 7zip, go to res/drawable-xhdpi and res/drawable-landxdpi (I believe that is it, going on memory).
Open the two background files in a photo editor and change them however you want.
Then open the original .apk with 7zip and drag those new files into the correct folder in the .apk.
Then copy that .apk to /system/app/ and reboot.

These are the original 2 from one of the .apks, you SHOULD be able to edit these and just drag them into the 7zip window in the proper folders (res/drawable-xhdpi and res/drawable-land-xhdpi).
(just open the .zip, it is just the two files, they have the same name so it would not let me upload both of them)

That I do not know, you could unzip for sure, probably even edit the files... but I don't know if you could edit the .apk on the phone.
There may be apps that could do it, I have never even tried or thought to do so.
Love the ICS looking theme. I don't understand why manufacturers don't theme their phones with colors that fit the entire OS. Good job!
Skins on SnowJB ROM
Awesome!
does your update also include the original skins?
No Go
Didn't work for me...I am running stock JB..tried without renaming and tried to rename the odex file and just kept on getting force closes every time I open messenger... I was really hoping it would work themes looked so nice..
Help?
Would this work for the telstra version of the OG?
The E975K? I tried replacing the system messaging app but it simply keeps force closing.
Tried fixing permissions and everything.
How did you change the font colors?
OP, im trying to do what you did but for the optimus f3, do you think you could tell me how you edited the apk and repacked it?
how do i get it on my phone

Is there a way (preferably without root) to modify/customize the "in call" screen on the Galaxy S5. I am not talking about the Dialer App itself but the screen that comes up once you place the call. I want to be able to move the "end call" button from the top right spot to the top middle spot to make it easier to reach with either hand.

You cant do it without root cause it needs to modify system apps.
If rooted it is possible. I themed mine like this which will be available in alliance roms next update

I got the Google dialer working on my S5... You need root and if you want to make any dialer fully 100% with out any use of the stock one, you need to do a lot more then just have the app in the priv-app folder. Once I've worked a few bugs out, I was going to either package it as a zip, or give it to a rom development or two to use as an add-mod to their rom(s).

Wondering if you can share the steps you followed to get GOOGLE DIALER working on the S5 ? I tried to install by putting in Piv Ap, changing permissions and rebooting - and no luck - it FC's when i try to launch it every time.
If you can share the steps you took to get it working - even if I have keep my original phone ap for taking calls and GOOGLE DIALER for making calls - that would still be cool -
If you think it is too complex and difficult, I understand - but if you can share what you did - that would be very cool -

Wondering if you can share the steps you followed to get GOOGLE DIALER working on the S5 ? I tried to install by putting in Piv Ap, changing permissions and rebooting - and no luck - it FC's when i try to launch it every time.
If you can share the steps you took to get it working - even if I have keep my original phone ap for taking calls and GOOGLE DIALER for making calls - that would still be cool -
If you think it is too complex and difficult, I understand - but if you can share what you did - that would be very cool -
thanks

I had to copy so files to the lib folder... That was a couple of weeks ago and am trying to reproduce it.
I got the files from a Nexus 5 ROM.

Well.... So far:
The good
• App will open with no crashes or force closes
• Search will search your accounts for contacts and Google for people / businesses.
• You can place a call
The bad
• Samsung app is still used during a call.
• Samsung app is still used to receive a call.
• No contacts button
The Ugly
• Removing Samsung's in call app will still allow your calls to connect, but you get no GUI so you can't hang up.
• Removing Samsung's phone app (not being used anymore) will cause zero signal and two com.phone error popups on boot.
• Google Contacts FC when opening
Bonus: info on other Google/AOSP apps
The Google and AOSP SMS/MMS app can be used and fully replace the Samsung one. Why is this good news? Because those apps have the quick reply (popup when you get a message) Kind of like the iPhone but much better :victory: I have a few different themed versions and get some more and will do a post with the info (and credit where credit due) tomorrow.
The AOSP browser likes to FC
Other working apps: Calculator, Clock, Email (even exchange bypassed), File manager, torch, gallery, pretty much everything else besides phone and contacts... I'll add them to the same post as the messaging app tomorrow. (Will be flashable zips)
On good news... Once the CyanogenMod ROM is finished for S5, it will be MUCH easier for me to get the dialer and contacts working fully 100% on Samsung's touchwiz framework.... I had them working flawlessly on my S4 before I busted the LCD... Nothing beats touchwize framework with Google/AOSP apps and style

You cant do it without root cause it needs to modify system apps.
If rooted it is possible. I themed mine like this which will be available in alliance roms next update

I dont usually use aosp apps but to let you know stock mms does have an option to enable pop up messages and includes a quick reply too.
For phone it does use both secteleservice (secphone) and incallui for the phone features. That is why deleting the teleservice resulted in no signal because that app basically does the phone signal and pre call functions while the incallui controls all incall functions. So you would need an app and probably libs to replace both.

Any chance you can share that black Seccontact apk. Looks Great. I've been trying to theme it myself without much luck.

And where would the setting be for the popup with quick reply?
If you're thinking the quick response snippets, that's not the same thing. And looking at the settings for the stock MMS app (see attached screenshots) there is no pop-up setting or anything close to what the aosp/Google MMS app has
I like a simple OP so ...
Just like the title says this IS and WILL be a CLEAN AOSP rom built from source, I really just build for myself but I don't mind sharing with the community.
You ask why share a basic AOSP rom?, well there are some people here that like a AOSP rom but don't have the time or the resources to build, also at one point I felt that Android in its infancy needed a lot of customization, but now its a lot better, plus with the invention of Xposed there's not enough reason to code in features when you can just download them.
This does not come with Google Apps installed you will have to install the ones you desire just make sure they're compatible with Android 6.0, and also this rom is not rooted so you will need a compatible root solution if you need root.
There is no screen shots since the is a non-themed AOSP rom, which will look like any other AOSP rom so please do not ask, and please be friendly to one another, and also please report anything broken I will try to fix it as I can.

I will download and check myself.

6.0 has RRO compatibility built into the source.
All that is needed is Root and BusyBox.
Running Layers as we speak on a factory ROM.
I thought Xposed was broke on 6.0?

Yeah but since it will be compatible in the near future, there is no point in adding any flashy features that are xposed-specific into the ROM.

The layers now available are for previous versions.
But there is enough working to create a dark interface. The trick is to use layer combinations.
Suggestion for dark: InversionUi, CommuteUi, Scarlett, Blackish
Start with layers for 'framework', 'systemui', 'settings' and 'velvet' only.
Existing layers(not updated) for keyboard, contacts, calendar etc, will not work or text is not readable.
In the play store is a layer manager available. I prefer to extract them manually and transfer the layer-apk's manually to /system/vendor/overlay. After a reboot the layers are active and copied to vendor/overlay.

Many have been updated for 6.0.
Right now I am using Evolve and it's partner CommuteUI. Applied through the Layers Manager app (working on 6.0) and the themes stick on reboot.
I understand if you want to bake this in to a ROM, but I'm just passing along the info that Layers works out of the box with stock factory images of 6.0 with root and busybox installed. No need to rely on AOSP or Custom Roms for Layers now. (My point basically and to answer the initial question I quoted)

No I just suggested a different approach. A layer manager is not needed. There are a lot of nice layers on 'afh'. I download/extract on the PC (add .zip at the name) and delete the layer-apk's I don't use. Transfer to 'system/vendor/overlay' and reboot is enough. So I use root explorer, but layer manager is also good.
The main point is that the device involved needs Root acces. And when you have Root there are alternative. Just sharing it with the community.

Touche.
I don't use Contacts. Just unhid it from Nova and checked. You're right.
Man, I'm spoiled with touch-less interface haha. I RARELY if ever use the phone/contacts app. I just say who I want to call or speak the number. Works better with Tasker cooked in w/ Autovoice.
I also figured you were just listing another way of doing it. It's good to have multiple ways.
Hi.
Thanks for sharing.
Is AOSP SMS application include ?
If yes, is it possible to have an extract of the apk please ?
Cheers
Envoyé de mon Nexus 6
Just a heads up to whoever is using this, there is going to be another release shortly that is much "cleaner" it won't have any of the debugging tools added nor will it have anything that can be found in the PlayStore. This next release is pretty much just barebones and you will need to get a internet browser, camera, gallery app, music app, well you will see whats not there. At any rate I feel that this gives the user more freedom on what they want installed, so this is the new format for this rom and it is complete, the only thing that will happen now is updates to make it better. Also I will be releasing my source for this too if anybody wants to rebuild and add their own spin on it or contribute to the pre-existing rom.

Yeah it is you can just pull it from your phone or extract it out of the update zip.
However its just the same as the Google Messenger app just green instead of blue and doesn't have the extra Google added crap.

But does it have quick reply? And does the action bar color change with the contact that you send the message to?
Thanks!

You know what it does not. I didn't notice that, it looks like they just gave it a facelift.
Hmmm it might not make the next version either.
