stuck at bootanimation after trying to get rid of it (samsung s5690) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi there,
i've tried to get rid of the bootanimation as derscribed in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923545
there it is described as this:
if you want that your phone boots faster, type it into your build.prop file: debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
i did as described by opening the build.prop file with rootexplorer and then i've edited in the above line with the text editor. i've put the line at the end of the text with a free line between the text, that was already there (just to remember where the edit has been made by me). also i've backed up the original build.prop file.
BUT, when i've rebooted my phone it took longer than before and then got stuck in the bootanimation, it keeps repeating itself until i take out the batterie...
i've tried wiping the cache and have done a factory reset/ wipe all user data, but with no positive effect....:crying:
please give me a hint wha t else i could try to get the device running again.....
thanks

Use root explorer. Go to /system and press and hold the build.prop file and then select open in text editor. Make sure you mount r/w in root explorer.
Thanks, and there it goes more money on Android Market =[
Edit: If I wanna add anything just add it to the end, save and reboot? This thing does need a search function to see if the line's already in there somewhere. Does it harm to add a line in the end if it is already there somewhere, working like botton lines overriding the top ones?
Any suggestions to add? And what's dalvik heapsize, head some talk about it.
would strongly suggest that you read and learn before making any changes.

Thanks, but I tried setting the dalvik to 12, as I use only light apps, to see if it would perfom any better (as you said it could be from 12 to 40), and the phone entered an endless loop from boot screen to "Sony Ericsson" screen. Had to re-flash, thankfuly xRecovery still worked and I had a zip in the SD card.

that happen because you didn`t use the right permissions.
from what you`ve described i presume you edit build.prop and then copy paste to system, right?
do this:
enter on system folder, press and hold build.prop file select permitions and then check all. Now copy your new file to system and repeat the proccess (check all permitions).
reboot.
No, I had already changed it from 24 to 28 before, without errors, the only thing I did different in the first time was to "mount r/w". Maybe that's what happened lol.
Edit: Tried again, now mounting the r/w thing, like I did in the first time, but still got the boot loop.
I didn't change the permsions, I'm doing it directly through Root Explorer. click and hold, open in text editor.

[Q] Bad build.prop edit

Hi guys, before I start I'll say that I have searched all over the internet and here on the forums and I couldn't find my particular issue. Well the thing is that I edited the line in my build.prop "ro.build.version.codename=REL" to "ro.build.version.codename=L" so I could get the material design on the Google Now Launcher pulled from a Android L build here's the thread I got that app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-android-lollipop-apps-launcher-apps-t2912905
I did that and now my device will boot up normally then I will reboot by itself then show the boot animation then repeat the same process again and again until I force the phone to recovery or fastboot.
By the way my device is the LG Optimus G (E970) running GEE 3 ROM 1.2 and TRWP 2.6.3.0 and I have a backup of the original build.prop on my PC. I don't want to lose my data and apps since I forgot to make a backup (silly me).
I would like to know if there is a way to push the build.prop file on my PC to my phone so I could just replace it, or create a flashable zip.
Please help me, and thanks in advance.
Nevermind. I managed to push the original build.prop file to /system set the correct permissions and now my phone is working again.
Admin feel free to delete or close this thread.

[Solved] application changed system file now I cant boot

Hi guys, I downloaded "boot animation root" from playstore. In the options of that, there is a setting to disable boot animation, so I did that and rebooted, but now all I see is my phone logo and does not go any further. I thought maybe it just added the line:
"debug.sf.nobootanimation=1" to build prop, so I booted into recovery and had a look at the file, but it hasn't added that line. so I did add that line and tried it but same result, so removed the line, ensured build.prop was chmod to 0644 and rebooted but still cant get it to boot. and yes I know I should have created a backup first but I didn't!
Where else could I look for this offending code that has been added somewhere?
figured it out, the application renamed
/system/bin/bootanimation
to
/system/bin/bootanimation.bak
renamed it and now I can boot again

media_profiles.xml editing

I treid to edit this file to get better video/photo/audio quality a while back but when I did edit it and rebooted I was stuck in a boot loop.
I want to give it a go again but do not want to end up in a boot loop again if I can help it.
Is there settings I should not edit or permissions I need to set etc to stop a boot loop? What causes the bootloop in the first place? I would of thought that editing this file would stop the camera from working and not the whole phone but hey what do i know
Can anyone provide some insight?
Cheers
most likely permission error
permission should be rw-r-r (read, write for root, read for group, read for global) or 644 depending on what you are used to
anyway, before you make changes, backup system in TWRP then do your stuff
in case something went wrong, simply restore system and no probs

[FAST]build.prop problem, phone won't boot.

Greetings. Yesterday i edited the build.prop, I am a Hearthstone player and I wanted to change my phone's fingerprint in order to make it look like it's a Galaxy S6 to get a free card back. I messed up something and the phone won't boot now, it shows the carrier logo for 4 srconds and then the screen goes "backlight" black. I can still enter recovery (TWRP 3.03), I made a backup before editing the build.prop and after this I replaced every ALLVIEW and P7_PRO (that's my phone) into SAMSUNG and SM-G920F. I got the card, and i replaced the build.prop with the backup one. Here are two possibilities:
1. I didn't sort out the permissions on build.prop ( i know that replacing a file resets it's permissions).
2.After i pasted thr backup one i edited it again because i had an modified line and I wanted to go full stock, and I think by mistake i pressed the enter button and created a blank line.
I heard about pushing the build.prop with ABD, I know that i can even use TWRP for this, but I don't wanna get things any messier than this.
Any help would be very appreciated. I there arr any grammatical problems forgive me, this is my mother's phone and I'm not used to the keyboard.
