[Solution] Fixing Touchwiz unexpected stop error - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems many people can get this problem "Touchwiz home has stopped unexpectedly" when traversing from home screen to app and so on. Changing to simple mode, using ADB and factory reset are the current solutions but I fixed my error in a much simpler way.
Settings > Manage apps > All > Touchwiz > Clear data.
It reset my home screen and apps/widgets to stock positions annoyingly, but no more error.
However if there's a particular app which caused the error, delete it. Agenda Calendar messed mine up.
I hope this works for other people.

Display Pop Up Notifications?!?

I performed a search on here and find lots of posts about how to turn them on but nothing discussing the issue I'm having which is that they keep turning themselves back off. It's driving me insane!!!
I have a Touch Pro with Sprint. I go into settings and enable all notifications to display on the screen for new reminders, email, sms, etc. I've done both soft reset and no soft reset after enabling them and it doesn't seem to matter. After a few days the notifications checkmarks have seemed to uncheck themselves and the pop up notifications stop working. Then I have to go in a re-enable them all. I've gone through this about 10 times in the last two weeks and it's wearing on my last nerve.
Does anyone know what is causing this and more importantly know how to fix it once and for all? Is there something in the registry that keeps making it default back to no popup notifications that I need to change?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Other than this issue I love the phone!
I have noticed 2 things with the new Sprint TP:
1. They work better after a hard reset. More stable and faster.
2. There are some programs I tried out that were written for the diamond (i.e. advance config). They have caused some unwanted side effects, like not keeping settings I had intended (i.e. hardware button tap sounds always turned themselves off etc.).
If you have any of those programs on your TP, one of those might be the culprit.
Either way, I would suggest a hard reset and then (if applicable) installing each program and seeing if it's messing things up.
As follow up, it appears that Advanced Config is the culprit. I uninstalled it, reset all of my notifications to display on screen and finally did a soft reset. Popup notifications are still working strong for almost a week now!
Thanks!

[Q] Settings has stopped???

I am not sure what I did to cause this issue, but when the phone first starts up, there is a message saying "Unfortunately, settings has stopped". Everything seems to work fine until I try and change a setting or access the applications tab in the settings menu. When I try either of these things, I get the message again saying that settings has stopped. Anyone know how to fix this?

[Q] Unfortunately, system UI has stopped

Help me with this. I own an Android Share(Brand) Tablet. Last night, when I open my tablet, "Unfortunately, system UI has stopped" appeared and the SETTINGS is gone. In effect, I can't access my wi fi. Whenever I tap my wi fi or any other functions in the SETTINGS, it always popping up. Thank you.

Ya mine too when I have created a rom for mmx a89 when I flashed a new rom phone starts and unfortunately systemui has stopped ...:crying:
Fixed mine, finally
I have rooted i717 and at one point systemui has stopped message started poping up on long press home button.
Went through an ordeal of wiping, flashing, data restore, you name it.
Would work on fresh new system. As soon as I started messing up with settings, it came again.
Decided to play a detective.
Went back and defrosted all apps I had frozen using Titanium. Voila, long press home button would bring back the latest apps.
Good, now started freezing one by one again, testing "systemui has stopped" and there we are: I froze "Google search" and systemui failed!
Why? I think, in my case, when you do long press home button to bring recent apps, there are 3 more little buutons on the bottom of the list: Running apps, Delete and, you guessed it : Google search.
That sucker made me spend days and nights trying to fix something I f..ed up.
I am not saying this is in your case, but in mine, the system was trying to call an app that was frozen.

I'm having the exact same problem you are after doing a factory reset, no settings icon on the home screen or in the app drawer and when i open notifications and touch settings or wifi all it says is unfortunately, system UI has stopped. I was wondering if you ever found out a way to fix it?

urgent help needed. factory reset didn't work

I have a 7100 sg3. I factory reset because my friend got a hold of my phone while I was asleep and tried deleting bloatware. In the process he seems to have gotten rid of, or made to stop working, the app that keeps calls log, as well using the dialpad on the phone to dial a number causes the phone app to freeze and crash, afterwards it says contacts crashed. After a phone call is completed the phone freezes until a message pops up saying that phone.sec has crashed.I also can't install apps wether from the market or 3rd party apk.
I've checked all the files that are related to these apps and they're all still there. Though obviously not operating properly. Oh another thing is that when I go to the application manager it doesn't show me how m much memory any one app is using. Also can't clear cache data.
Any and all ideas will be appreciated, comments to factory restore will be scoffed at

Stuck in guest mode or something like it

Can't figure out how I activated this mode on my phone but now everything is limited.
My lock screen is disabled, no notifications will show in the drop down (but will vibrate and LED light up when I do get a message or an app update), home and recent apps button do not respond (only the back button), some settings are disabled (developer options/factory reset/lock screen). I can still access most apps/information.
Never plugged my phone into computer nor tried downloading any 3rd party apps.
Any help besides master reset would be great!
Wondering if you found a cause or solution to this. My wife's phone just started exhibiting the same symptoms, and so far I've found nothing. T-mobile's only suggestion is to do a warranty replacement, but I'd prefer not to.
If you did a hard reset, did that work?
FYI, after doing some more research, I found a solution to the problem. Apparently some kind of setup activity was stuck, and there is a workaround that gets things working again. I did the Nova Launcher workaround found here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-e-2015/673227-problems-marshmallow-moto-e2-any-help.html
Hope this helps.

Is there a solution that doesn't involve the use of Nova Launcher and it doesn't involve dealing with the Setup Wizard apps (short of a reset) as I don't have the Setup Wizard appear in Nova Launcher.
