I am using it and it works great. Got my backups on my 64 gb card in the Meenova and was able to transfer some things I wanted from my card which I had in my unlocked Razr Maxx HD

I've been using a USB OTG cable I bought off Amazon for under 2 bucks & my existing flash drives.
Works like a charm!

Is this compatible with any devices? Lets say in G2?
There is a thread dedicated to this accessory. Any questions you have about it have probably already been answered there. Lots of information there!

If you get the dongle with the card reader slots you can do 1 thing: read memory cards. If you get the USB port version you can: use a memory card reader, plug in an external hard drive or flash drive, plug in a keyboard, mouse or joystick just to name a few things. If all you really will be doing is reading memory cards then the reader version is better since you won't need 2 devices (USB dongle + USB memory card reader) but if you ever plan on anything else the USB port version is way more versatile.

It depends what the external sd is and how big it is in memory size, some work and some don't.
I have a 1 tb external and it doesn't register on my phone not even if I repartition it.

sh^t im planning on getting a 1TB external HD this one in fact
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Sli...UTF8&colid=12HPR9PFUES4B&coliid=IYZBBEJ1LZLS4
i suppose i could go through the process of using OTG Cable with my Nexus 7 and then onto my phone but it's too much hard work to be honest, all i wanna do is to get music onto my phone from the external HD, this isn't good, ill have to reconsider my options unless anyone knows a better way?

Ah figured out how to use my hdd by installing an app called paragon ntfs then plugging my wired hub into my otg cable then plugging my wired extended hdd into that.
It's a very annoying process just to plug a hard drive in but it worked

Okay what I did was have my hub connected to the mains which is also connected to my otg cable of my note 10.1
Installed the paragon app that reads ntfc data on a hard drive (some are fat32 so don't need this app)
Then connected my external 1tb hard drive which is connected to the mains to the hub and all my files showed up on my note 10.1
Hope that's easier to understand
Oops sorry exactly the same process with a galaxy s3, get confused between forums

Has anyone opened up a dna to see the insides? I'm curious as to if there's any way to add more storage to it.

Just get an OTG (on the go) USB cable. It will allow you to plug in SD cards or USB devices (like a flash drive or HDD)

The only drawback I've seen with OTG is no way to charge at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

DNA comes with this: http://www.samsung.com/global/busin...ct/flash-emmc/detail?productId=7639&iaId=2324
sticking with Sammy's eMMC is probably a good idea (essentially an industrial-grade SD card: bundling a memory controller and NAND memory all in one) & here are your the ones you can choose for the upgrade: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/file/media/Samsung_eMMC_Brochure-0.pdf#5
then if you manage to get the chip soldered on to the board, you have the BIOS issues so you'd need a software dev who knows how to do it...
edit: i recently picked-up a mint One X+ for $100 from CL...it would be nice if i could swap out that 64gb to upgrade my DNA & give the the X+ the 16gb...kickstarter anyone?
That would be very hard to do if its even possible.

Why did you buy this unit in the first place?
Tried to copy over a 9gb movie, no go obviously. :\ Given no expansion SD slot, there is no way to work around this is there?
Doubt it. Storage is formatted using FAT file system which has a 4 gig file limit.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
It is not formatted in fat. It is ext3 I believe that's why we don't have usb mass storage.

You could attempt zipping files in your computer and then unzip them in the phone. Alternatively, i heard that OTG is possible which will allow USB to be hooked up.

For those of you that are looking for extra storage, you might consider checking out this project of Kickstarter before it ends. This adapter allows you to use a microsd card with your One and also comes with a Micro USB to USB adapter to connect to your computer for file transfers. The adaptor is small and has been confirmed to work on the One. I've got one on order now. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andyfei/mini-microsd-reader-for-android-smartphones-and-ta
just picked one up in case. thanks man
9gb movie... Wow, want to use every pixel on that screen huh?
That kickstarter project is definitely your best bet. Or a similar usb otg cable and a usb drive.

ext3 supports files much larger than 4GB. If the phone won't let you copy a 9GB file to it then it must be another problem. And UMS is discouraged by Google I think as it doesn't allow concurrent storage access to both apps and the computer attached though USB.
When Samsung added JB to the Note 2, the MTP driver blocked copying files >4GB. They seem to have fixed it on the SGS4 as I just finished copying a 4.3GB movie file to it.
split the file up
MTP is pretty awful; if you're at all comfortable with the command line, use adb instead and save yourself some trouble.
So I purchased this sweet piece off of Amazon for only 30$ in hopes I could expand upon my limited 32gb internal on my N6. When I plug it in and go to Sandisk's website it definitely says the N6 is compatible yet it doesn't recognize as a USB as it should automatically or at all, any suggestions? Its supposed to be ' plug and play ' but isn't ..
Did you try stick mount from the Playstore, as a work around?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
No I haven't I'll definitely check that out right now and report back thanks!
KB112 it worked! Thank u so much!
ES explorer have USB OTG drive support natively.
no need any other softwares.

I have one of those too and you need something like chainfires stick mount for it to pop up. In returning mine because you can't use it while my phone is in a case. I have a smaller one that's works with a case but it's only 16gb

It might detect it, but can you do any R/W operations with it? IIRC on my rooted/decrypted 64GB N6 (Hynix memory, Samsung DRAM), stock detected my OTG but refused to R/W to the drive without Stick Mount and its drivers.
If you don't have or want root, you can use the app Nexus Media Importer to read from an OTG drive (i.e. you only want to watch movies or listen to songs from it).
If you want full R/W, i believe you still need root to do this. I purchased Stickmount Pro, because it has helped me on my Nexus phones and tablets for a few years now.
Good to hear it works I have one of these on my Christmas list! Haha. Already have stick mount and an OTG cable so I was confident it would be fine.

I found the 16GB version at WalMart about 2 months ago, worth checking there if someone wants one right away. It was in with the cell phone stuff and not by the other USB drives. I'm too impatient. Works on my 100% stock HTC One M8 (verizon) using ES file Explorer if that helps anyone.
I've been using this micro-sd adaptor for over a year.......no cable needed. Just plug directly into the phone. I have a 128gb micro-sd card in it. Works great with Stickmount. This is the smallest I have yet to find. Easily keep with me at all times.

dont need a cable to use the sandisk otg drive. it comes with an app you get from the playstore or you can use (what i recommend) nexus media importer , also avail from the store.

I was looking into getting one of these but was wondering if anyone had any experience with using it while their Nexus 6 was in a case. The reviews on Amazon show a lot of negative feedback in regard to this. I use a Spigen Nexus 6 Case Ultra Hybrid.
