[APP][JB 4.2+]Android 4.4 Kitkat launcher - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello Guys,
Just wanted to share with you the Android 4.4 Kitkat launcher shared in another post on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46994536
Note: This is only for devices running JB 4.2+. I havent got a chance to try this out yet for our Xperia devices, if someone can try this out and report. Please follow the instructions in the original post and ofcourse make a Nandroid backup before trying it out!

OP pls add that you can't install on JB 4.1 and below (ICS included). Thks
Sent from my MT11i using Tapatalk 4

Confirmed working by me on Neo V. The launcher looks good, only problem is that I don't think there is an option to adjust the 5*5 grid size in the drawer because of which it looks a bit crowded. Adding some screenshots...

Hey, he is asking only about the launcher and not all the other apps as mentioned by you
Btw, you are saying the launcher grid size automatically adjusted itself as 5x4 after a reboot? I have set it as default launcher and rebooted still the grid size for me is 5x5... any other steps which i have missed?? I am using the Beanstalk ROM RC2

Hey, its not my launcher but the Kitkat 4.4 launcher i was talking about...you and one more member reported that grid size auto adjusts automatically to 5x4 which is not happening in my case...so wanted to know if there is something more that i need to do...
Regarding Kitkat 4.4, I am happy that it has been built to support low end devices :fingers-crossed: and because of which we will be able to use our Xperia 2011 devices for some more time :good:
The launcher looks good, but i prefer something which is configurable like Apex/Nova launcher to this one. The camera, keyboard, calendar, gmail apps are nothing much different that what i use in the current 4.3 based ROM. One app which i really liked was Quickoffice, very handy to create and edit documents on the go.

Even I'm getting 5x5 grid in the app drawer! Tried rebooting and everything, doesn't help! Can anybody tell how to make it 5x4 grid!?? I'm using CM10.2!

Yeah, that's why I didn't include it. There's an ICS analog clock widget floating around too, which is also just a copy based on early screenshots, so I haven't included that, either.
Hopefully once the AOSP source is available, someone will backport the real ICS launcher to run on gingerbread (a much easier task than porting the full ICS phone to our minis!)

Do you mean it doesn't install, or you just don't see the new lockscreen? If it's the latter, make sure you've got the "ring" style lockscreen selected in the CyanogenMod settings. (If it just plain won't install, then I'm afraid I can't help!)

Well, the repack is only a matter of editing /res/values/style.xml, just add the parent attribute from first style tag to the second style tag.

Satan Recommended ports/mods Part1: Home Screen Preferences/more soon UPDATE 3

I have taken it upon myself to port some good stuff over to our phone and thread. I hope to learn some things about apk modding and theming along with bringing some good mods that work on our phone to attention. These are originally done by other members and I take no credit beyond testing them and fixing any bugs needed for the port. I have made this thread to bring attention to the great mods/ports that will work on the Xperia S
Will not work on Xperia P or U yet, it is missing the files for their screen resolution. Once I have worked out some of the issues with the S version I will try and add support for other NXT devices.
Xperia S Home Launcher with preferences- By Serajr - original thread (Visit him and give him a thanks for the awesome work!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743984 - Thanks to Sony and Serajr!
Update 1: Better instructions, New link
Update 2: New home.apk with fixed icon for Exchange Email
Update 4.1: read below.
Bugs: Breaks V6 supercharger, redo it
Resolution issue (working on this one, i'm new to porting so it may take some time to figure out)
Apparently some of the translations are goofy, not sure if I can fix that since I only speak english.

I found it! Thanks! I could not find, because in polish translations "settings" drive you to system settings. The Home settings it is "Xperia - main page". The translation is incorrect and confusing.
Lovely and it works really good.
Is there a way to make the home screen 4 columns and 5 rows?
Or there is a tutorial somewhere?
Thank You very much
EDIT: It seems that the resolution is too low for our device. In the home screen seems like we have 5 rows but the one near the dock is empty. There is too much space.

This is a additional pack you can keep on your SD card to improve your favorite ROM (eg. TheBrains).
This should not be used as the only ROM on your phone. Use your favorite ROM instead and then flash this AOSP Package afterwards.
Remember: This is only a small Mod, that changes the icons of Programs and inside Programs!
Don't expect any CM-Programs or features in this Mod, because they WON'T work with stock Framework!
Only use this on Xperia P (LT22i) and Stock-FW or nonported CustomROM (like TheBrains)!
If you brick something I'm not responsible!
First, I wanted to only modify the framework. That's why the first package is called "AOSP Framework Port" in CWM-Installation. But now I think it's like a small mini-ROM, which you can use with any other stock-based ROM.
You can find anything you need on my website.

If you have CWM, yes.
You don't need custom kernel.
Only CWM-Kernel.

I will try, but need testers. I don't have an Xperia P. Computer still in repair till (hopefully) Thursday.
Edit: First of all, send me your Jelly Bean settings.apk

[APP]New Awsome Sony Xperia Home launcher (version 5.1.S.0.0)

A new Sony Xperia home launcher has leaked. It updates the stock home launcher from version 4.0.3.A.0.9 to version 5.1.S.0.0. Changes include a new graphic for the dock at the bottom of the handset, as well as for the app drawer. It also moves the tray options to the left and includes a search bar to the right. We also now get the option to have a maximum of seven home screens, instead of five.
There is also a new way to install widgets, apps, wallpapers and themes. This comes up when you long press an empty space on the home screen. When you click to install a new theme, wallpaper etc you will see the options for these at the bottom of the handset. Another subtle change we noticed is a new screen transition when moving from one home screen to the next.
I prepared an update zip.Enjoy it
Installation
-Backup your rom
-Install New_Sony_Xperia_home_launcher_(version_5.1.S.0.0).zip via cwm

C'mon if you Read it Carefully you'll find 'Ray' on the Themes and Apps, And if you might think it wont work on MDPI then jud add [HDPI] in front of your thread title

Doesn't work for me on stock 4.0.4. What is the exact process and order in CWM?, ie .. install > clear dalvik > fix permissions > reboot .. etc, etc, etc.
... Installing and just rebooting like it says when installing the zip just causes the phone to hang on the "Android is upgrading" "Starting applications" ..... Does didley squat, so far I have it hanging or bootlooping, nothing else.
doesnt work with CM 10.1 or PAC 4.2.1
Not workin..for me cm 9.1

It does not see home.apk as a launcher application and an application at all.

i've same issue with you, and i think that doesnt work for us CM 10 & CM 10.1 users.
Thread moved to Theme's & Apps as this isn't development. There's no Ray specific section because it's not needed, this covers all so that isn't a valid excuse for posting in Development.
I've closed this as there's already the same available here. If you've done something specific to your one then you should make it clearer as looks the same at the moment. If you feel it should be re-opened let me know but you'll need to make it clear what is different.
Thanks
AvRS
