So I think the capacitive buttons on my Rezound have bit the dust. I was having trouble with CM 10.2, and thought that was the cause. I have since tried various roms that had worked in the past and have tried going back to a stock rom to no avail. I now believe I just have a good old fashioned hardware failure.
I'm trying to figure out a work around, as I can't really afford a new phone currently. Does anyone know if we have any ROMs that have the home and back buttons on them like a Nexus device, (where they are the black and white softkeys at the bottom)?

All CM10.2 based roms have em, just need to enable the buttons. Using PIE controls is an option also.
To enable the Nav bar, try adding this to your build.prop and reboot.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Edit: Just noticed a typo, cut it from another site, it's fixed now.
Thanks for your reply. I've never edited any build.prop before, I knew you could do that but didn't know why you would or what it did.
I installed CarbonRom to get the nav bar and it seems to work pretty well.
Edit: can I turn off the lights for the capacitive buttons with a build.prop?

You can use kernel tuner and slide the slider to 0. That'll disable the lights.

Check to see if Carbon has a Buttons section under the Settings, if so you can turn the brightness off.

I added that line to build.prop in CM 10.2, and nothing changed. Also I couldn't find the pie control options, so I dunno.
Carbon had no buttons section, and I couldn't find an option anywhere else to disable the led lights.
Hmm, you may need expanded desktop on also, I'll try it on mine later.

I found the error, what you typed earlier was wrong - it's "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0".
I changed that, rebooted and now it works.
Sorry, copied that from another thread, guess they had it wrong also..

I can confirm that this works on CM11 too.

My app drawer button is non-functional ish. The app drawer button doesn't always select in the green tone to show it's been activated. I know the screen recognizes it's being pressed because the full-screen weather animations stop once I press the screen but the rosie button doesn't... go. I tried resetting HTC Sense, no go. I don't know what's wrong.
Anyone else got this issue?

I've never had that happen. Are you using the stock HTC skin, or are you using one of the themed skins? Just curious on that. If you're not using the stock one, perhaps try switching back to the stock skin? A battery pull maybe? Sorry I don't have a better suggestion for you.

Stock skin, not temp rooted or overclocked or anything funky. It just started today too. I wish I didn't have such a unique problem! Grr. Thanks though man.

Well you can try rebooting the phone and removing the battery for a few seconds, but I'm going to assume you have done that already.
Second would probably be a hard reset, which I guarantee to fix your problem since it seems to be some sort of software hiccup.

EDIT : Get a drawing app and see if you can draw in the bottom left corner. If you can't, then you have a problem with the digitizer not registering in that area.

Okay I will try the drawing app, and yeah I've pulled the battery to no avail. I'll try the app, then just see if it works itself out.
EDIT: Drawing app worked fine, it's a Rosie issue. Hmm.
on that note
On the same note. Is there a way to change what is launched when you tap the button?

I don't believe that's possible without full root. It is definitely possible to remap the rosie buttons, but I don't think we can until we get S-off. (could be wrong, because there's a ton of talented devs here, but I dont think so)
Someone (literally just forgot who) is trying to repackage all of Rosie itself so it can be installed as an apk with a ton of mods, but again, I can't remember who.
Oh also, the button is now fully functional. Just kind of started working randomly, but oh well! That works for me.

Not sure how you would go about this but I really want to ask why? Just because? Or is there a practical reason behind it?

that should work, you might have to disable then re enable when you reboot

I may take a look at that. Not sure when I'd need it but can't hurt to have more tools! Thanks!

some places (with stock, or builds that work like stock) if the light sensor "sees" that it is bright enough the home, back, ect will have the backlight turn off. but i can't see the buttons unless the backlight is on.
i'm using the gummy rom so my button light are always on.
This App ROCKS!!!!
I'm running cm10.2 right now, but this issue is independent of Rom. Right now about 30% of the time my capacitive buttons won't respond, and sometimes the recent apps button starts registering phantom touches all over the place and I can't do anything unless I turn the screen off and on again. I'd like to know if there's a way to completely disable the capacitive buttons, not just the backlight, and turn on the on screen buttons. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

*BUMP* I have the same problem with my phone... Any fix for this? Running CM 10.1 RC. I have tried those scripts to disable the bottons so that I can use the softkeys, but they won't disable. Any ideas XDA?

I haven't been able to disable the hardware keys but I have activated the soft keys by adding this line to my build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
They work fantastically now. Hope this helps you too.

I've noticed while trying to use a few LED apps on my N2 that there doesn't seem to be a noticeable tool to change LED color; not the flashing LED, but the lower Menu and Back buttons. If there is, I've completely missed it.
I'd just like to be able to customize it to anything but white, however, I can't find anything that might allow me to control it. The only method I remember seeing was a hardware mod, and it was only for the HTC One X: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186620
I do remember seeing hardware_ids for the backlights in Stweaks, but I don't remember them working for me, plus I forgot the options because my phone bricked and I'm being lazy today. So, is there any viable solution to tweaking the other LEDs of the phone?
I'm using AOKP-milestone-2, no custom kernel added yet.

I don't think they can be changed, they're probably not traditional rgb led's.
