I was finding my Archos 43 Gen8 device with its puny 256mb RAM unusable with regular launchers so I decided to roll my own from scratch: TinyLaunch.
It's really ugly (just a simple scrolling list, with optional icons), has no widgets or shortcuts, but it has made my 43 much, much more usable. Here's the main development thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511505
Can we have a screenshot?
Any other tip to improve ram usage? And what is your opinion about which rom is better for everyday use (stock, uruk, divx gb, or biz ics)?

I added some to the main dev post.
And I added a more standard tile view (default is the ugly list view):

I find LauncherPro(when you don't use widgets and only one home screen) faster by far. TinyLauncher didn't run smooth on my 43IT...

Hello,
I'm really really new in terms of customization but of course I'd like to learn and try.
I have Launcher Pro installed and I wanted to change the dock.
When I click on the App Drawer Icon and select the png file I want to replace it with, it's just totally blank
Here is the icon I want to put (the 2nd one): thecustomandroid (dot) com /2011/10/docks-by-desylvia/
In fact I'm trying to get this overall look but with no tutorial it's not easy and I don't want theme packages, I prefer personal customization with different widgets etc. And I like that dock but I just can't find it anywhere. I've read it's from Gomorrah.
Anyway, I just need help with the PNG icon, I'll do some additional research for the rest .

Oh and by the way this lock screen and the homescreen are from Desylvia.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Third-party Android app provider GetJar has offering the venerable widget suite for free under their Gold list of apps. Beautiful Widgets, for those of you unfamiliar, is a spectacularly customizable set of widgets available on the Android Market for $2.75. For those afraid of not supporting the developer through the free download, developer actually gets paid per download, so it’s a win-win all around.

Looking forward to try your skin,

While the Note 2 has great multitasking, and with root (or without) you can have multi windows for a range of applications (not just the stock ones).
But, as far as I am aware, this doesn't include widgets.
This app allows you to having floating widgets, which is brilliant, for a range of reasons. I am sure people will come up with many creative ways to use this app (setting profiles, even has a Tasker plug-in).
Great for running Google Maps with a Google Play Music widget or example

Linear Clock adds a whole new way of stylish time display to your phone. The unique linear timeline is a fun and nice variety of other digital or analog clocks which are available for Android.
Make your home screen a bit more linear with the various widgets which you can customize with various themes and scale options, the useful wizards will help you to achieve this without difficulty.
Any comments, suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

The screen size of this phone is going to be a benchmark size for the phones coming next year after Google themselves have gone for a 6" screen. How best do you utilize this massive real estate? Widgets etc that make use of the screen. Will start with mine.
