I've heard from multiple people that they've gotten the Google experience launcher to work on a Droid DNA like I have, but I can't even open the launcher without it saying that Google search has stopped. I've seen the fix where you change the language, do a voice search and then immediately change it back, but Google search and the default voice search app both crash before I even have time to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm sorry if this has already been asked. I've used google and the forum search to the best of my abilities, I've read through threads but I don't have time to read through a few thousand pages for the ROM. I honestly can't find a single other person having the same issue.
When I press the mic button on the keyboard to start Voice Typing, I get the message that unfortunately, Google search has stopped working. Once this happens, I can no longer use the regular keyboard or Voice Typing. The keyboard will show up and immediately disappearing every time. Every time I try to type something, the same message pops up and immediately disappears. Long hold of the Search button does the same thing. I can fix this by disabling Voice Typing, but that's not a solution for me.
I am running AOKP 1.22.13_B. I have done a factory wipe/reset. Cook's ROM wipe. I've formatted everything on the phone that I possibly can. Numerous reinstalls and wipes and etc etc later, I still have the same issue after a completely fresh installation. I don't understand what's happening here.
Aaaaaaand nevermind. The Play store wasn't showing any updates for Google Search, but when I searched manually for Google Search, it had an update. Update fixed my problem.
Why wasn't the Play store showing the update for Google Search? It showed an update for gmail, but nothing else.
I had the exact same problem & your Post Solved It
I was searching frantically for the same problem as yours, & then i stumbled upon this post.. :fingers-crossed:
I use swiftkey for typing & when i tried using voice input, it used to show me the same error " Unfortunately, Voice Search has stopped "
So when i read this, i thought, if there is no update, why not uninstalling & reinstalling ??
I Uninstalled the Voice Search App from Play Store & Reinstalled it..
And "tada" it worked.. Im loving the typing by voice now..
Thanks to your question which gave me that ide..
Hope you try the same..!!:good:
Has anyone had any luck with getting the new Google Experience Launcher to work on stock Jellybean? I can get the new Search to work and the "OK Google" hot words. When I try to select the GEL as my launcher, I get an error the "Google Services has Stopped" or something along those lines. I know I could just try Houstonn's full KitKat, but I'm not ready to try that. Has anyone gotten GEL to work on stock and if they did, did they do anything special to get it to work? I've tried the language changes and reinstalled the new Search, Play Services, etc.

Same issue here. Most likely related to a missing lib file I think. Thats how I got it to work on 4.2 rom once.
I've done a lot of searching for a solution for this problem. Google maps doesn't read street names. It has nothing to do with the time of day as suggested by other threads. Also, clearing the data/cache and rebooting doesn't solve the issue for me. Changing to Ivonna or another engine does nothing. Maps insists on using the faulty google tts.
I have seen this behavior on Sense 6 Roms including Viper and the ATT Debloated with integrated voicemail into messages.
The problem appears to involve Google TTS because whenever I go into setting/language & keyboard/text to speech I see that the system is stuck on "checking default"
Skydragon Sense 6 on the other hand works fine.
I've been trying to see what the difference is without coming up with a solution.
Have others seen this?
Any fixes?
What language are you trying to use? All but english french and spanish were removed from the one i put out for users...This would explain why no sound with streets if using another language...works with english here with no issues....
How come, that Google Keyboard is hidden in Google Play from me?
I have three devices, a Nexus 5, a Nexus 7, and an older HTC One S with CM11. All of these are using Google Keyboard.
But searching for Google Keyboard in Play Store nothing shows up. Therefore updates for the keyboard is not showing up either.
I have a work around for this though. Start up an web browser on the phone, search Google for Google Keybard, click the first result, and Play Store starts up showing Google Keyboard - it's there. And if any updates are available, I can install these too without problems.
But why do I have to go through a web browser to access (and update) Google Keyboard on my devices? Why doesn't the Google Keyboard show up when searching in Play Store?
I'm living in Denmark, is this the issue due to regional restrictions? I know of other of my friends, who I have showed the trick of going through the web to update the Keyboard.
Did you figure out how to fix the issue? I have exactly the same problem and its so annoying Live in Ukraine, so it seems region does not matter.
You can try downloading from APK Mirror, it works well.

Nope, still same issue, auric88.
Sure, BingoseasonsCP, you can also find it via Google search, as I state in the first post, but you don't get automatic updates..
Hello,
I just ordered the Fire HD 6 and am super stoked to get it. I had a few questions if someone familiar with it could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
1. Can I install a different launcher on the new OS or did they lock it down so you can't do that anymore? I'd love to put Nova on it just to make it feel more comfortable for me.
2. Can I install google music and allow it to stream from the cloud on the device? I've read some tutorials online, but they all seem to be older so I don't know if the new updated OS has blocked some of these.
3. Is it tough to side load apps as far as apps causing issues when doing so? I'd mainly be looking to side load Google Play Music, Chrome, and possibly a few other small apps.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. I've searched all over the web for a site that has a forum for this particular tablet, and this seems to be the only valid one I could find.
Thank you
I can answer a few. When installing a launcher, it allows you to but when choosing set as default it never really gets set as default. It just keeps showing the choose launcher pop-up each time you press home.
Google Music works but you cannot log into your google account with it and streaming does not seem to work.
Sideloading apps is just as easy as any Android but many apps that use Google services will crash. Surprisingly Chrome does work on the hd6! At least Chrome beta. Did not try regular Chrome.

Thank you for your help, exactly what I was wanting to know.
I sideloaded Tasker and was able to set Themer to open up on unlock. It helps with not being able to set it as default.
Themer also lets you set wallpapers and custom icons. It's kinda buggy, but it gets the job done. Have Power Toggles in the Notifications to make up with not having the menu.
