You mean you have the emmc brick bug? If so you can still use odin to upgrade as long as you don't wipe/factory reset. And you can use siyah kernel which is emmc brick bug free (will also give you root)

choose the correct 4.0.3 stock rom and flash the same thro Odin
Flash through odin. I doesn't matter whether it is Gingerbread or ICS.
But do not use CWM to wipe. You will brick it.
Good luck!

I flashed Siyah over the stock kernel. Would it be safe to wipe in CWM now (using 4.0.4, XXLQ6)

Can i simply flash the GB modded ROM i have in CWM the normal way ? i ask cus i see some talk of needing bootloaders when downgrading ( i haven't a clue what a bootloader is)
Many Thx

Yes, 4.0.4 has the brick bug, but that should not stop you from returning to stock.
Download ICS 4.0.3 stock firmware.
Perform factory reset in your new phone
Flash via Odin.
done

Jes thats waht RR means so im safe if returning to stock 4.0.3 with odin and would anyone be kind enough to give me a link to download stock rom and the instructions with odin
To download the firmware go to sammobile. com, login and select the firmware for your phone and country.
Then in recovery full wipe, format /system and then reboot in download mode. Connect the phone to the pc with the USB cable, wait for Odin recognising it and fhen flash it

1. You can download 4.0.3 firmware on here on XDA or on Sammobile. On Sammobile, you will have the option to download the stock ICS firmware for your country
2. Odin Flashing Tutorials here on XDA
ok so il do it but another question is my case somehow connected with the one that was about the leaked firmware that bricked many devices i know it is samsungs fault because of their bug but i want to be 100% sure cause its not my phone its my mom's

1. The firmware you are downloading ICS 4.0.3 is very safe. Only 4.0.4 comes with brick bug on its stock kernel. So don't download ICS 4.0.4 firmware
2. Technically, warranty is already voided, If anybody should flash a leaked firmware, or root his phone.
Brick bug or not, Samsung is not 100% at fault if anybody should brick his device while flashing a leaked firmware or after rooting his phone.
The user has to take his own share of the blame too.

there is no need to worry about the same, as long as u dont do anything silly in the stock recovery ( like wipe Data/cache etc) u will be safe
Thanks for the reply, will it make any difference if I flash back to stock rom GT-I9100_INU_I9100XWKL1_I9100ODDKL1_I9100DDKL1(gingerbread).

No, it wont since the insane chip is a hardware thing and will not get changed by installing a diff firmware for sure, but u will be safe with GB and ICS 4.0.3 since the stock kernels of those do not have the 'mmc_cap_erase' thing in them as its disabled

Then you've done something wrong I suppose Your kernel will be overwritten if you flash a new rom with Odin or through CWM.

Guys. please hel me. I'm noob in android and I'm new in XDA.I updated my Samsung Galaxy Siii GT-I9300 to a leaked version of JB4.3(Ireland) and I regret it. It eats up my battery so fast and it has some bugs including the music player when locked. I want to restore it to the Stock JB 4.1.2. But I've read some threads that downgrading will cause errors on IMEI/EFS thing ( I badly want to downgrade it and wait for the official release of the Firmware. Please HELP ME GUYSS!
First of all, is your device rooted?

Huhu. But the other threads states that downgrading will cause a problem with my Imei. And leads to no network thing. is there any other way? Or an specific ROM that wont cause that problem? Thanks for lending your time.

I did have a GT-9300 and i could not remember how many times i flash up and down stock roms by ODIN and there was no error at all?
4.3 sucks bad...
Yes After downgrading to 4.1.2 My S3 (GT-I9300) does not show any Network. It is just a Emergency Call Only phone now.. Though after coming back to 4.3 again it works fine. I am also pissed off with this stupid update by Samsung. Please help if any buddy can...
Is it the official one from the Samsung website?
just downgrade it to 4.1.2 and flash a 4.1.2 modem, it will surely work.
Downgrade SGS3 4.3 to 4.1.2
I had similar issue upgraded to UK Stock 4.3 from Samfirmware ad had a terrible experience. I came across this 4.1.2 stock rom for Germany that worked with no issues as this one has MG4 modem that reads EFS2 partition newly implemented by Samsung,
Product Code: MBC
PDA: I9300XXEMG4
CSC: I9300MBCEMH1
MODEM: I9300XXEMG4
simply flash it through ODIN
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/250954845/08fe425/I9300XXEMG4_I9300MBCEMH1_MBC.zip.html
If your S3 doesn't reboot on its own, enter Recovery Mode by pressing Volume Up + Power + Home button simultaneously and then performing a Data Wipe/Factory Reset and wipe any cache partition. Then select Reboot System Now and you should be good to go.
Hope your problem will also solved as mine. Click Thanks if it works
