I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers
Code:
Google Nexus Devices ADB & Fastboot
Samsung Devices ADB & Fastboot
Asus Devices ADB, Fastboot & APX
HTC Devices ADB & Fastboot
Code:
[B]Windows 8 Instructions[/B]
How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
Enjoy!
You had a thread allready: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998650
why didnt you update that one instead of making a new thread?
Probably to keep .73 and .72 separate?
And windows 8.1?

There always has been more then 2-3 threads for the drivers so this is not new from me.
It also allows for promotion as people are still discovering the drivers. With all the versions I have released and all the autoroot kits on XDA that use these drivers the downloads are over 2 millions downloads and counting.
Once tested well I will update my other threads. =)

Correct it allows to me to roll it out to a smaller userbase with a little control, then I update all threads with new version.
Additionally a good amount of Android autoroot kits rely on my updates and I like to be careful. I do not want to fix whats not broken.

Yes they works fine with 8.1 I will update the post as well. Thanks for pointing that out.
One more question, are this drivers needed? Whats the difference with the google drivers provided in the android SDK? Thanks

Windows2000 is not listed.
Do the drivers work for Win2000 too?
Usually you wouldn´t find me asking something like this, but my hyper-fast supermachine at work does run on this legendary OS
Since mass storage mode doesn´t work / I didn´t find it to activate....I still look out for a way to mount the nexus5 to that crap thing.

These are based off the newest Google drivers from the SDK, first most they allow anybody to download them and simply unzip the drivers without the need to install the SDK or Java, no EXE's or installations hence the "naked" part.
Secondly and most important these work with over 300 different Android devices as of today. It allows people with multiple devices to not have to install anything on their computer this driver will allow those 300 devices to communicate with fastboot and adb. If you service a friends Android your good to go, if you have multiple devices you are good to go.
These also work with APX devices which is a special flash mode for Nvidia Tegra devices... all in one little zip.
Hope this helps

Sorry I have not tested it but feel free to give it a whirl, these will not harm your machine in any way or form. =)
Your drivers work like a charm, as usual (old asus transformer prime time).
Thanks!
You should add that the nexus 5 USB connection must be set to MTP mode for the driver installation to work. I changed it and it stopped the driver from installing properly.

I had disabled MTP mode when I connected via USB. Now, I can't find the option to re-enable it. Where is it? I'm sure it's something extremely simple that I'm just overlooking...
Go in settings - memory - hit the menu ..... and there it is .
Have a good day

Great work mate
Mark.
If this driver are not signed (and I think so), you should inform the Windows 8 User that most likely they need to Activate the "Install unsigned driver" option.

Did you point to the folder during ADB or fastboot? Did you have ADB enabled as well?
You should not have any issues with these, let me know about the above.

#justsaying no need to disable signed driver, it works !!!
Win8 pre-load laptop, maybe its different than self-installed version?!
I was excited when I read the XDA News headline, but then reading on figured it doesn't support the Nexus 7 yet.
Any chance of you supporting the Nexus 7 (3G) as well?
Thanks!
Many thanks for this useful driver pack, I have an HTC One X and in a few weeks a Nexus 4 + Nexus 7. Very good for my daily life with these devices

Ah they may have changed this but this will still work with all your devices and tablets.
Thanks for making this but after about 30 min of research you can learn how to modify the google ini file to work with ANY android ran device as long at it doesn't have a proprietary connection interface. Once you plug in the phone just go to device manager and properties. Find the hardware ID and Vendor ID and plug them into the generic google.ini setup and label it with your phone. Then you can just install google drivers to run your interface.
I work with linux too and its even EASIER to create generic google drivers you just need vendor id and port.
I've installed this driver and I still have the MTP device problem. My phone connects as an android tablet and I can't mount my storage card. Pls help
So I have a Samsung Vibrant(just got it recently) and I'm having problems when i connect it to the computer. It gives me an USB device not recognized on my windows 8 computer. I have spent all morning searching and reinstalling drivers and trying my old pc and new cables and i found out that my old windows 7 computer with 4GB of ram and an overloaded hard drive will detect my device the problem there is it not my main computer and i dont want to have to connect all the vga cables boot it up connect mouse and ect to use this computer just to be able to copy files, and do other things from my computer to my phone I dont know why my main computer dell inspiron windows 8 will not work when it was a couple of days ago when i had a problem with conectivity and had to flash back to stock but now it wont connect. could someone help me? Here's a list of things i've tried
installing kies
installing adb again
aoi tool and then drivers
a bunch of diffrent drivers found on the fourms
diffrent usb cable
i would like to be able to do it on my main computer but its not working if someone could help that would be great
also please dont hate on me for having windows 8 jk i dont care :good:
I'd have to say that your drivers are all scrambled. Look up "android SDK" here on xda and install that for a bigger variety of drivers. Or just download Google's USB driver and manually install it through device manager which always works for me. Windows 8 is new and very complicated.

Android SDK is installed in the main drive right? local disk c?
You have to click the folder (usb_driver) and then click update.
In the android sdk folder there should be and exe file called SDK manager. There you will be able to download all the drivers for your current android version also the latest Google drivers and SDK tools etc.
I was stuck on this process for a long time because it allways works different for everybody. Just keep me posted on what you do I'm more than glad to help.

So what exactly happens when you click update? What does it say?
Is your PC up to date? (update wise)
Do you have the the drivers for the phone itself like samsung drivers?
And did you try rebooting your PC after installing your drivers? <-- that is important. You should always reboot after install or uninstalling drivers otherwise you'll end up scrambling them.
From the pictures it shows you have the drivers but I'd also try going deeper than usb_driver, try clicking on i386 or amd64.

OK make sure there are no HTC drivers on your PC. When you hook up your phone does USB storage work or anything like that?
Check those out and then I want you to go to Google, download pdanet latest version via pc (dont install yet) and go to the play store and install on your phone turn on USB debugging and the install non market apps and hook your phone up to the computer. Then install pdanet via PC and see if that works. HTC drivers get in the way of Samsung's BTW.

I want you to uninstall all your Samsung drivers(not android SDK) under control panel/uninstall programs. If you see something like Samsung kies definitely uninstall it. Reboot your computer and follow this guide for windows 8:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
After this if it doesn't work I'd recommend pulling out your old computer for android modding lol. I'll still look up some threads for your problem. Let me know what's going on after that. Make sure when you follow that guide your phone can not be plugged in the computer. And when you plug your phone into the computer after everything is done and after you reboot your computer for the second time, USB debugging has to be off and when phone is done unplug and turn back on USB debugging and plug back in and wait for that. Adb should work.
[Edit] you can also try running your drivers in windows 7 compatibility. Sorry I couldn't help much.

I think I know what the problem is. Make sure you uninstall all the previous drivers, then have the correct drivers ready.
What you have to do is to disable driver signature enforcement.
Step 1. Go to the right bottom corner of the desktop and wait for the side menu to appear. When it's there click on the gear icon with the title "Settings".
Step 2. Now click on the entry "More PC Settings", then click on the entry "General".
Step 3"Restart now" (under "Advanced start up ") and click it.
Step 4. Now click "Troubleshoot", then "Advanced Options" and after that click "Windows Start up Settings".
Step 5. Click on "Restart" and wait, then on the next screen press F7.
You will now reboot, and try now to install the drivers (by manually selecting the folder in device manager).
I'm not sure what is the correct drivers for you.
But try this. It's still worth a shot.

Don't know about Win 7 but on Win 8.1 there were Acer adb drivers that were the default. Had to uninstall then enable Google or Koush's universal drivers. There is also a place to enable MTP.
No. I have drivers installed. Google ADB. Cant See my device in mtp using win7.

On the basis of the number of posts on XDA about MTP and ADB and Nexus then yes it will be driver related.
Check what drivers are installed with this http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/device_manager_view.html You should have Android Composite ADB Interface by Google inc and if you scroll right the driver version should be 11.0.0.0.. (this driver is installed from the dowload zip at http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html.
This thread is worth reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391236 for guidance on deleting/updating drivers.
Believe I have followed peterk-1's instructions, but my driver is not Android Composite ADB Interface by Google inc ver 11.0.0.0 but is called Google Nexus ADB Interface by ClockworkMod ver 7.0.0.1 dated 17/8/2012. What am I doing wrong??

+jd1639 Yes, when I plug the USB in there is a sound and in the device manager (Win7) appears an "Android Phone"/Google Nexus ADB Interface. No autostart window or appearance in Windows Exolorer.

You won't get an auto start. Just open an explorer window and you should see your device there

yes its shows yellow error in mtp but I am able to transfer files from laptop and tablet only thing is I can't use cmd and adb but after going thru your link I come to know that my adb was too old which is of my HTC explorer so I downloaded adb (platform.zip) from the thread given in your post and then for mtp I manually selected driver installed in my laptop I.e adb interface >Samsung adb and then I tried cmd in new platform.zip which had updated adb files for jellybean+ version and now its working fine.
Dunno how you did that. I'm a newbie.
Could you plz help me out ?
I don't have any sort of "Adb" connection in device manager (which you can see in my image), which was supposed to be there.
Can you give me a detailed explanation of what you did ????

so you too also want adb to work for you right?
I can't say exactly what made it work for me cause I have s duos 2 also n so its drivers are also installed in my lappy.
but you do one thing
1.install Intel android driver from above post v1.9.0
2.enable debugging in tablet and connect and then goto device manager where you have mtp error, right click on mtp, update drivers select from folder will appear below that must be some option select from installed drivers goto that see Intel android driver after that you will be getting multiple option android adb interface, adb composite interface select any one preferably android adb interface and install.after that uncheck debugging and again check it and see if mtp error is gone from device manager.
3.download platform.zip from your given thread link unzip it and in that folder open cmd by holding shift and right click do open cmd here and check if all is OK by typing adb devices,if its OK it will list your device.
I'll give it a try, then i'll inform you. Till then, please stick to the post ! Thank you for the info BTW.

if still yellow error is shown on device manager right click on it update driver, then browse from folder or look for installed driver some where is must be there search something related to Intel or adb and select that else forget it cause what's the use of adb for us as there is no custom ROM or other things to do.
other way is download helium app on PC and tablet and in ptp mode you can get adb working
