I'm on i545 (verizon) and 4.3 and curious if there is a way to root this. I'd like to put the Google Play Edition on here.

If your on 4.3 there are no custom recoveries for it yet. Also the only way you can root it is with vroot which is sketchy at best. Not trustworthy. I would just wait until a safe root is made available.

doesn't look like this will work for 4.3 nothing stating that it does but if it did i honestly think qbking would have mentioned that
If u watch closely he is rooting 4.2.2 which we already have. No sure and safe way to root 4.3 yet that I have found. Just my observation. Looks like sprint model 720

I would like to root my google edition S4 that arrived today. The only root I have found is for 4.3 firmware mine is still running 4.2.2, the bootloader should be unlocked, so what do I need to gain root access? I want to get titanium backup working, thank you!

does this work on 4.3? I just got a note 3 and it has 4.3 already. They must have patched up the wifi hotspot toggle because it doesnt work for me.
If root works..Ill just add the toggle in my settings storage using sqlite

Just wondering if anyone knew that there was even a Revolt ROM for the VZW S4?
Been running Eclipse as my daily driver since I got my S4 back in July, but I just discovered the Revolt ROM and may have a new DD. TONS of customizations, pie controls, halo, 4.3, the works! I couldn't find a thread for is in the development section so I thought I'd see if anyone here knew it was even available for the VZW S4, because it in fact, is.

Just a nice work around for us unfortunate ME7 people that allows us to run custom Roms as there is no bootloader bypass for the ME7 kernel.

Or you could always try out one of the AOSP Kitkat ROMs, available in the original development section. They're pretty darn stable, and can certainly be used as DDs.

Your S4 is probably soft-bricked right now, which is nobody's fault but your own.

Sounds quite reasonable.
Following Samsung OTA's for a long time across 3 phones and almost 6 years.. seems they connect some of the major OTAs to release of new product. Since the S5 is getting close could it be tied to that event? Betting Verizon's S5 won't be first on the release list for US carriers either.
OTA of 4.4 for the S4 prior to the S5 release just doesn't sound like a starter. It would be a nice surprise though....

You could always run an INT 4.4 ROM that has the boot loader removed and Loki-Doki the thing. I am running 4.4.2 A TW ROM on my S4

If you do, you won't likely keep root across the OTA, and won't be rootable afterwards.
Any chance of a bootloader breach is also lower once you update. Just say no,

NFL Mobile. That right there is one HUGE reason to root. Get that crap off your phone, unless you a willing lemming drone to the NSA and you have "nothing to hide"...
Seriously... I don't get it. Those of you that are on SafeStrap mk2 or mj7 are better off staying where you are. You're not missing some huge thing other than saying... Your s4 is on KitKat.
I have a sprint s4 on TW 4.4 and let me tell u...it looks just like TW 4.3.
So keep root..keep SafeStrap and wait and see if the XDA gods can bring root to it first before anything else.
I don't know I guess this kitkat thing is already tickin me off!

An update is an update...I enjoy browsing through for new things. It's like flashing a rom? Some people like stock, it's clean and functional . Have been rooting and installing roms since my og droid days and this is the first device that I find no need to root to enjoy. It's filled with customizable options and speed.
I am sure Vroot can already root this. I will be updating when its out and root.
