What phone are you using? And if you want to go back to stock then you can just download the stock firmware for your phone and then just flash it with sp flash tool if you can't factory reset by recovery.
Galaxy Note 2 - rooted and customized leaked 4.3 stock
At&t Galaxy note 2 - rooted stock 4.1.2
Xperia Neo L - Bootloader unlocked, rooted and customized 4.0.4 stock.

First off I know I shouldn't have done this before I was sure what I was doing, but I have done it.
I have used chainfires mobile odin pro to flash siyah's latest kernel to my rooted s3. i put the .tar on external sd. Opened mobile odin, opened file, and pressed flash. It said it's dangerous, I pressed continue and the phone immediatly rebooted, and is now stuck on boot loop.
I had never updated the phone from when it first came out, I just rooted and kept stock rom.
Any help much appreciated,
Thanks in advance.
Try to boot into download mode if this works you can flash a stock or custom Rom and kernel through Odin ans it should fix your problem.
Or try to boot into recovery and flash a custom Rom, either way should fix the bootloop.

As a precaution I'm going to ask if you have the American or international model.

Currently in download mode, going to try to install the latest kernel. Do you think that should work, or should I install custom rom?

I would say you just need to flash the kernel if that's all you changed, the Rom should be fine.

Did you choose kernel>open file>flash?
Hi just a quick question.I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 on Sasktel Carrier (Canadian), model mumber: SGH-I747M and i cannot boot CWM Recovery. I have deleted the two /system/ files that some advised to do and i know i am rooted because i have SuperRoot but I still cannot boot it. So im wondering how i could boot CWM Recovery (Keep in mind im a pretty new to this stuff). Is it possible to root my phone more than once without bricking my phone?
i followed this video to root my phone and i was wondering if i could go through the steps again and try to reach the CWM recovery mode that way or would that brick my phone?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!
You have to flash the recovery to boot into it

If I were to follow the instructions from your link could it brick my phone? I've already rooted my phone. Or is this just putting the recovery into my phone? Thanks for the help!

If you follow the procedure in the guide there is minimal risk of bricking your phone, and fortunately in the unlikely event something does go wrong most of the time you can use Odin to fix any mistakes. This procedure will just flash Clockworkmod Recovery and will not effect root access on your phone.

or just download Rom Manager from the play store and flash recovery that way.
1. Open Rom Manager and tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery option in the app.
2. You’ll be asked to select your device, select your device name.
3. As soon as you select the model, it should begin installing the recovery.
4. When it has done installing the recovery, you will get a message for the same on your screen.
*NOTE: I do not recommend Rom Manager as a tool to do anything but just install and update ClockworkMod Recovery. Do not flash ROMs from Rom Manager.
I've heard rom manager is a great way to install custom roms. How would you recommend to install custom roms? Through cwm recovery? I cannot install it through rom manager because it says recovery setup instead of flash and when I do try it says i747m isn't supported

The problem with ROM Manger is that on newer devices it can brick your device if you use it to install custom ROMs or try to use it to flash a recovery image even if it is a device that has official Clockworkmod Recovery support. I would recommend either using Clockworkmod Recovery or Team Win Recovery Project to install custom ROMs.

If you have got a backup of your stock rom you can install it via CWM recovery. In case if you do not see t, install CWM recovery via Odin and then install backup/KOR or any other custom rom. I believe it will work.

So you have a backup prior to the booting error? Flash to stock ROM and restore your data

ALCATEL (and MTK Devices in general) usually have locked boot loaders making it impossible to enter fast boot or recovery without OS level access. Have fun with your new paperweight (jk)

how did you try to flash recovery.tar.md5?? if you are using odin via pc.. at first download..and copy fixrecovery.zip to extsdcard.. then boot into recovery.. just after it shows name and model no.. pull your battery out.. wait for at least 10 seconds.. and put battery back..
and boot into odin mode by pressing vol down+home+power button... make sure you have samsung drivers installed on your pc then and plug in your usb..
if everything was done correctly.. you will see one of the COM # and it will be lighting.. and select PDA then browse into the tar.md5 recovery you downloaded.. and select it..wait for sometime and click start to flash it..
the phone will auto reboot.. and you will be in cwm recovery... now install the fixrecovery.zip and you will be good to go.. next time you boot into recovery... you will be in cwm
you can find fixrecovery.zip and tar.md5 recovery in the forums.. google for samsung usb drivers.. you can also use a different process to flash cwm via pc with odin if you dont like pulling out your battery.. which you can find in the forum i guess... well.. this method worked for me... so i posted thisi
and i downloaded rom manager.. but it says our device isnt supported.. and it doesnt allow to select tar.md5 or .img to flash. So i dont think.. we can use it to flash...but i maybe wrong...
if you dont have access to pc.. well..since you are already rooted... i think you can dump the image onto the recovery block of the device with dd command on the terminal... but since i havent tried it i wont be posting commands ... anyways i hope you can fix your issuse fast.. here are more experienced people than me.. and they will surely help you...

you don't need fixrecovery.zip.... on a root terminal type...
Code:
dd if=[I]path_to_recovery/recoveryname.img[/I] of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
hopefully.. it will be okay..
then open root browser.. got to /system/etc then delete install-recovery.sh ..
havent tested this.. but this should be it OwO..
plz yaar i dont knw any of this..what is root terminal???plz tell me the easiest method.help me..
