[Q] Power button does NOT lock screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all
So my issue is rare I believe
There is no lock screen
no matter what rom I install no matter what version there still no lock!
and now turn off option show up either it just turn off when holding power button.
I tried flashing various kernels and stock roms nothing helped
this can't be a hardware problem because the button works!
What do I do??
PS i tried this and didn't help

Very very simplistic solution - have you tried a lock screen app like start or something of that ilk?

EDIT: I figured out that I forgot a line in the previous method lol it works now, close the thread.

XXLQ8 by Toldo [ROM][CWM] Stock ICS roms, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned [P75xx/R/D/M][T859]
It is very strange. I've been using this good rom for a couple of weeks and had no such problems with it... So try to downgrade the tab by flashing samsung stock rom based on Android 3.2 via Odin with pit file and repartition. Odin will erase all partitions, flash all components in its original state.
p.s. Do it very carefully with at least 50% charge. Flashing with pit file is dangerous as it can brick your tab if something went wrong unfotunately
any solution?

Any fix for this yet?
same here
OK so I was trying to get my tmo sim out of my phone to work in my tablet well it worked 4g was faster than my 60g wifi but anywayz I restored my efs Nov.data file use efs pro and that fixed it for a while flashed stock ics and poof gone
My symptoms were no power button options, power button press would only turn off device, factory mode calculator app on home screen, and no lock screen. Did soft factory reset with one of the these two codes (can't remember which one worked, other one did nothing) *#7780# or *#*#7780#*#* Entered it into the factory mode calculator app.
According to the link below soft factory reset was supposed to be temporary. But I have restarted device many times and everything is back to normal.
Also, my symptoms were most likely caused by trying to delete the contents of my efs folder so that I could unlock device. This failed as contents still managed to return on their own. OR mini sim card adaptor getting stuck in sim card slot.

cannot press power button in cwm

here's my problem,
my phone keeps on restarting whenever i reboot it.
ive tried full wipe, wipe partition and wipe dalvik cache.
ive also tried flashing custom rom via cwm and stock rom in odin which is I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3_FOP
in cwm, power button isn't working..
when trying to choose a zip file, pressing power button
isn't working but touch function works well.
in odin just flashed stock rom this morning, but when it tries to boot, same problem occurs, it keeps on restarting..
i hope someone could help me ..
What you have, is a bootloop, which occurs when you don't do a full wipe before flashing a new rom..
And maybe the cwm you use doesn't support the clicking of the power button..

Maybe POWER button is faulty.Try to flash DorimanX Kernel.
i have manage to boot my phone,
turn on phone, while booting, i have to hard press the upper button of powermenu.
when it booted, i try to lock my phone (screen off) using powermenu and it wont work. powermenu option didnt showed up too..
but when i tried to screen off using the icon in dropdown toggle, it works fine.
yesterday after work i went to a technician, he said nothings wrong with it, and the only problem is the program.
but i already flashed it in stock rom and custom roms, i did full wiping to flash a clean rom.
this morning, i was thinking that the problem was the efs folder, but when i look into the efs folder in root system there it was.
i hope someone will help me..
When in recovery try the menu button.

Does it work as normal. If you push power will it turn screen of and on? You could use twrp as It dont use buttons edit: I read power button dont work at all?? Go to a better tec.
Also that efs bit is lock screen not power button. If it was gone it would still turn screen on and off and work just no lock screen:thumbup:

[Q] THL W200s bricked by Exchange "wipe data"

A collegue thought it would be interesting to see what the wipe data command on Exchange would do to my phone.
It appears to have bricked it.
The phone boots, shows the THL logo for a few seconds then shows a dark grey screen.
Is this phone recoverable.
I am a complete noob, first post, so if it is recoverable I'm going to need real step by step basic instructions.
Hope there is somebody who can help.
Thanks.

I got this result too...only grey screen after ThL logo. Can't get into neither recovery mode nor dowlnload mode. Please help
It happened to me too, exactly the same steps and now it is the same thing: logo and after that a black screen. Please, any solution? My wife is gonna kill me (it is her phone):silly:
A hard reset could save your life..
Press and hold the volume (-) button and then press the power button for about 3 seconds, release the volume (-) button when the screen comes and wait for repair menu. It's written in Chinese. Go to the part which is writing MMC at the end with the volume (-) button and press the power button. You are now in the hard reset menu, press the power button again and wait until the phone opens. That's all. You will lose all your programs which you installed before if you didn't back up before but the phone will work. I saved my W200S yesterday with same solution.
Thanks for your advice. I noticed the Chinese menu but I avoided it every time being afraid of not ruining something . Anyway, these days I've found out how to flash new ROMs so I am fooling around with trying different ROMs, I got allowance from my wife for this ). I am trying to fix an issue of the stock ROM, the proximity sensor doesn't light up the display when taking away from ear. The phone was not rooted so any attempt to enter engineering mode failed. Yesterday I discovered a MIUI ROM which looks very stylish and it solved the proximity sensor and even added the notification LED option (this was not included in the stock ROM). Now I have to test the battery life.

Hi, I solved all the issues of my THLW200S (lack of notification LED and improperly functioning of the proximity sensor) by flashing this ROM. I tried a few other ROM's but this one works flawlessly.

S6 Edge stuck on boot up and samsung logo is overlapping

Hello Guys,
Please help, S6 Edge phone suddenly died and when I turn it back on it's stuck on boot up and the samsung logo is overlapping like it's program was corrupted. Also, pink flashing light is appearing on the notification light (upper left). have held down Vol Up, Home Button and Power for 5 mins, and it still just shows that same screen above. I then press Vol Down, Home Button and Power for apporx 10 seconds but still to no avail.
Does anyone of you experienced this kind of issue? Tried searching from different forums but to no avail. I think I am the first one to encounter this Please advise if this is hardware or software issue and if possible the first action I will do. Will be very grateful for your kind response.
Please email me if you have experienced this type of issue and for further details: [email protected]
Thank you so much and best regards
Same here - bootloop at Samsung logo and no recovery. Flashed countless times with Odin , whole rom , recoveries , kernels . Recovered with Smart Switch , still nothing even when all procedures where successful. It looks like is a hardware problem.

Phone can not enter recovery , just download mode. Flashing doesn't change anything , phone just bootloops with white-pinkish led .
I wonder if bootloader is corrupted . Odin flash or Smart Switch recovery supposed to flash bootloader too , but still same problem .

⚠ Problem with back to stock

I have problem with getting back to stock fullmics 5.5 on h850. I have installed it reboot and now Im stuck in secure start-up lock pattern from previous rom I believe. Pattern wont work and also meanwhile "FC system UI has stopped" warning is showing all the time.
I can get into download mode but port is not recgonized in vista so ADB cant be used (WHQL usb drivers 4.4.2 are installed ok)
problem is also that I cant get into recovery mode or
factory reset menu from startup, seems power button down procedure wont work like previously did...for some reason bootloader warning appears almost immediately after power on so power button off and on for a sec like I believe it should, has no effect.
Im really getting out of ideas to solve this...tech brain of the world please gather for help
