if a custom rom says that in settings/about phone/status that you phone number is unknown just use this sim number changer to change you sim number to your phone number and then it will pop up so apps can regonize your phone. as miui needs to send u a sms when u make a new account using your phone number in about phone which when i installed on my p769 said unknown but this will fix it.
also need to install xposed framework
install sim number changer then xposed framework,
install/update xposed and go into modules and check snc(sim number changer)
reboot your phone and go into snc and put in your number and click change and bam there ya go
you must used cm10.1
no it was cm 10.2 i used along with miui v3 and pember rom
your usim's problem..same problem on cm10.1 cm10.2 miui and all third-part rom.
My problem is the same and my sim card is ok
P.S. It's not working. Error - Activate Exposed module and restart, but I did it both. PA 3.99 RC2(4.3.1)
Edit:IT WORKS NOW!

Help Please, Internal Phone info shows wrong number
My Optimus V shows my phone as having the number XXX-XXX-XX0X vice the actual XXX-XXX-XX8X under Settings/About Phone/Status. (If some one calls the XX0X that gets a business somewhere, if XX8X is called they reach me). My online account at VM is under the XX8X number too. I want to correct the "My Phone Number" to XX8X (from the XX0X). Does anyone know which file stores this information so I can edit it with root explorer or otherwise fix it?
Thanx Very Much
(tried the question thread but no response there.
Cm7 roms you can just change it in setttings
Settings > Call settings > Additional settings (for GSM) > My phone number.
Please note that the Additional settings menu may not work for some operators.

Bummer no "additional settings.." option on my OV. Thanx anyway. I may go to CM7 sometime soon and will use that method.
Do you have stock ROM or a custom ROM? If you are on stock ROM you should be able to use the activate app to rerun activation which should fix it. If that doesn't call VM and they can tell you have to change it since you may also need to change your msid number. If your not on stock you will probably have to backup your current ROM, flash a stock ROM to fix it and then you can restore your custom ROM

i am a newbie tried installing a terminal on my rooted android phone(2.3.7) and have checked getprop there are many properties available but I don't find any property that stores the sim phone number in this list.
could you please let me know where the modification has to go for changing it ? Application is available called "MY PHONE NUMBER" but unfortunately not installing on my cell
if some one has any idea how this can be done please let me know
thanks in advance
cheers,
Ravi
I don't think there is an option to enter phone number in SIM card in Android (correct me if I'm wrong). I entered mine in a SE K550. Number is displayed now in Android.

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14949609&postcount=4. This was for stock ROM.
The method mentioned before (settings>call settings>gsm call settings>additional settings>my phone number) is for CM-based ROMs.
Hope this helps.

The easiest way to do this is to insert the sim into an iphone if you have one easily accessible, go to Settings>phone>my number ---> Here you can set your phone numb and save it.
Now if you insert the sim in an android phone, you will be able to see your number.
Happy new year to all in XDA! whell now, the question: i use a rom based on V20A (brazil) and when i enter in "About the phone -> Status" i can see my phone number and operator! it only say "Desconocido"(Unknow) in spanish.
I test some rom based in other version and have the same bug, how i can fix this? or how i can add the info of my operator in venezuel "Digitel"?
why i need that? because i can put my photo to the sms system and other thing related to my profile, like sync with facebook, twitter, etc...
thanks in advanced!

Okey, that because
1. Your cellular provider dont give your phone number on your SIM (hardware)
2. Android dont have 3rd application that have access to change your phone number (as i know, CMIIW).
What can you do for having your phone number on your status?
1. Use another phone like sonyericson or nokia that can give access to give "my number" on SIM card (i dont have specific knowledge about the series of phone)
2. Move your sim from android to another phone.
3. Give your phone number on setting.
4. Move back your sim to android, and check what you have done...
Edit:
This someone that success used another phone to change "my phone number"

my phone :
gt-i9100p89
siyah kernel 4.1.4
primary rom stok 4.0.4
secondary rom cm10 nightly (jb 4.1.1)
i was using my primary rom and i found that no data conenciton was avalable, i checked the apn and there was no more entry on the menù.
open extweak and checked that profile used was defualt, open cwm manager 3.15 and press reboot normally.
the phone reboot and was up on my primary rom without ask for sim pin code (i use it)..... data not working apn not present (tryed to configure new apn and it will disappear as fast as i create it...).

try to turn off mobile and turn on on left boot timeout expiring (gone to primary rom) and the apn appear as magical thing.....

it might be due to the modem and ril mismatch i hope.
try installing 'GetRil' app from stores and match the ril with ur modem and then see for the issue
u are right friend.
i tryied with getril app and result is that ril and bb doesn't match.
hi try to "abuse" of your friendness asking again:
1) that app it's working fine and can i trust using get and install suggested ril from app itself? i never use it before.
2)i have downloaded the rom from samfirmware and it comes as tar file, i just flashed it via odin, so how it is possible that ril and bb doesn'd match between them?
many thanks for you previous suggestion and for any other in the future.

i have a rooted and custom rom-ed galaxy s2 running slim bean build 4. after i flashed this and rebooted my device, i noticed that i was not receiving any signal. after going into settings > about phone> phone status, i saw that there was nothing for the signal and carrier was unknown and the signal was at 0. i went into the contacts application and tried to see if my contacts show up....they dont. after clicking settings in it, it said that i could import contacts but the only option available was through my phone storage. shouldnt there be an option to import from sim?
Check to make sure your IMEI number is there. There are a couple of roms that will remove it. If it is not ther try flashing a different rom and see if it comes back or restore your nandroid backup which I am sure you have.
Restart your phone and check whether you will be asked to enter pin. If so, download galaxysim unlock With a wireless or search for the apk on XDA.

I fixed it by reverting to stock (no root or stuff) and then rerooted and reflashed. It works now
