Hey, this isn't about the the 4.0 or 5.0 player, its about the samsung galaxy player 3.6. Is it possible since kit kat has lower device specifications to port kitkat to the 3.6 player?
Hoping that this will be possible in the future, I don't think that this will be soon...
There are only one developer that works on our 3.6 and there is still no stable rom out now.
I think that no many devs got this player : only 4.0 and 5.0 seems to be seriously supported (I see also few people on the newer 4.2).

There is 0.000000001% chance on the 3.6 receiving any new android version.

Only if someone plans to do so themselves, and have the time and energy.
That will be to difficult man even for a really good dev it is to much time and work to make it possible
I can't promise anything, but I'm the ONE developer and here's my plan for this device (GP3.6):
Get CM7.2 working on this device (EU version)
> Get CM7.2 working on US device
> Experimenting sometime with this device to get
a better feeling for CyanogenMod on this
device
> Develop a working 3.1.10 kernel for the EU version
> Develop a working 3.1.10 kernel for the US edition
> Build CM11 (KitKat) device tree (EU then US)
> Compile CM11 our players
I think we will have a booting CM7 release in 3 or 4 weeks and CM11 in 4 or 5 months.
Please be patient, I'm the only developer for this device!
Have a nice day, Androthan
Great news I have a 3.6 player that really needs a refresh from that horrible tw gingerbread

I think that wait at least Christmas will be a good idea. Next someone can develop a CM 11 starting from some "working" (and really CM) sources... I'm trying it on my Note 1 and seems too stable to be a "less-than-a-month-joung" CM unofficial project... But, hey! It's awesome!

Cn you do something for the GI1 too? I saw that all roms for this player were now abandoned and the CM7 project seems to be dead now... I'm not a developer but I know Linux and some "Android" if this can help...

So we continue to work through the merger of 4.2 code and our CM enhancements. A branch in our github repos called mr1-staging has been created to facilitate the merger and is the target for core CM items (not features).
mr1-staging is not meant to be compile-able, its only purpose is to be a staging grounds for our core work. Chances are, it is useless for independent builders.
CM 10.0 (4.1.2) code is in jellybean-stable, if you are working on a bug-fix for the last stable release, patches should be submitted against that branch. If/when we do another 4.1.2 release (ie CM 10.0.x), it will originate from code in this branch.
Once staging is done in mr1-staging, we will push all that code to a 'CM10.1' branch, and eventually back to our primary 'jellybean' branch. This process is in place to make sure that we effectively move forward from CM 10.0 code, instead of starting over as was seen with the jump from Gingerbread to ICS. Patches from gerrit will be accepted towards CM 10.1, but for now, please have patience while we work through mr1-staging.
While the 4.2 updates are on a smaller scale, they do present some changes that will need to be considered and will effect our implementation of features. Just to name them briefly: Telephony Split, Multi-User, Quick Settings, and Lock-Screen Widgets. These items will be a strong focus when the initial CM10.1 branch is created.
On the feature front, David van Tonder (dvtonder) decided to make his weekend productive, and has already worked on the code for the majority of our MMS enhancements: Emoji support, sms split, gestures and templates, quick messaging. Notably MMS auto retrieve is not being forward ported as Google fixed that themselves. As stated above, patches will hit gerrit review after this staging process is completed.
As always, a timeline isn't and won't be available. We will continue to provide updates as we have them.

Even if we get a stable Cm 10 ,it would be worth it and I think Fxp would do that!
As for Cm 10.1,it's been answered already ,it's not just worth the efforts n hassles!

We said it already several pages back CM10 is last release for 2011 devices
Those devices use an old kernel (2.6.32) and old blobs for camera (ICS)
So even making those work with cm10 (jellybean) was an real pain
To update kernel to 3.0 we will require 6+ months (not worth for an 2 year old SOC) limited in hardware and memory
Even if we take this effort this device will not be able to handle next version of android after 4.2 because it simply lacks RAM
Even for Jellybean we had to use legacy camera to be able to use camera in an proper way (with broken panorama)
What's the benefit of having latest android if your device is not able to use new features?
We will continue fixing cm10 and releasing weekly updates with latest JB progress

That's great @AKA_Noodle. I used to own the Galaxy i9003 and have experience in testing ROMs, customizing, boat ware removal etc. for 10 months. I have just bought a Desire V yesterday and this is my first HTC. I am getting to know the difference.
I have followed your post and am going to ROOT the phone in a couple of days. I am giving my stock 7 days for the just in case hardware issues with my handset. Post that I will unlock the bootloader and free my device. I am ready for testing and development.
And by the way,
Congratulations to all. We finally have a dedicated thread for our phone.
Thanks @AKA_Noodle, i use the European Rom, great
Guys,
I don't own this device, but I'm interested in developing for it.
I believe I could try to port a ROM or two from the desire X to this device, if anyone would test it.
The only thing I need to know is: do you guys have android 4.0.4 or 4.0.3?

I'm interested with HTC Desire V Rom Development. And I will first make CM10, then MIUI, etc. I'm following the tutorials at XDA.
Finally i have device tree ready for HTC DESIRE V The next task is to download sources for CM9 ( takes a hell lot of time :/ ) and start working on it, hopefully with community's help, it will be completed
i will be uploading the device tree soon, so anyone can help me building it..
I'm waiting for that CM9, because all other ROMs I tried are disappointing. I posted here earlier a version for Baidu ROM but turns out that was also buggish.
So, please someone make a Cyanogenmod for this phone.
yeah... please develop a CM9/10 version for this dual sim phone ///
Until today, i still can't find an easy way to root my device. LOL!

I did some snooping - it turns out that it's buggish because we are using the nightly builds version of the Baidu . The official version is V4:

I know, but my version was from that stable one, which is based on version 27. Still it had some "things" because for Baidu stable not means final, it's a project in developement. I guess, if no one develop a CM for our device we'll have to wait for some final Baidu.
One other thing is that they develop Baidu to integrate with their service (let's not forget that Baidu is Google for China), and it will be more suitable to users from China .
Too bad that HTC couldn't release a ROM without bugs. Baidu, even in beta, didn't restart my phone randomly like HTC rom did (stock version too), and I have a friend with Wildfire stock, unrooted, untouched which do the same. Maybe it is something with HTC rom platform, I don't know.
I don't think it is hardware, because if it was, Baidu would restart too.
For developement
I just finished to try every single open source of android to make a new build for this phone and my conclusion is not good.
HTC announced that this phone will not get JellyBean - understandable 1 single core processor, 512 MB Ram, not enough.
That will be a huge obstacle in order to get Paranoid, PAC or Slimbean to this phone - they mentain those sources now only for jellybean. Or for jellybean, we need a new kernel to support that. And even so, we can not know if it will work - poor phone specs.
Cyanogenmod doesn't support DualSim, and I bought this phone for that function only.
MIUI doesn't support DualSim either - I know there are a lot of dualsim phones with MIUI, but these are ported not compiled from source - and MIUI source isn't public (what they have on github is a patch tool, wich doesn't work very well, especially with HTC phones which are more difficult).
LewaOS has a source open on github, but is only for Gingerbread - if they upgrade this it will be our best alternative, because LewaOS is a very stable, fast and reliable ROM, and works well even in low specs phones. Baidu ROM seems to be at the begining some port of LewaOS (I still found some mediatek references in baidu, and mediatek is the main processor for Lewa).
So, we're stuck with Sense...

None, it's a hardware issue. I took it to a service shop and then I sold it and never bought a HTC again.
Dear all,
i own an Xperia P, now after all this while i know having a novathor chipset in our device is a curse. now We have atleast 10 roms based on latest 4.4 kitkat based on CM but each of it have bugs. this has been the case with all the previous CM versions. My Question is "Is it ever gonna happen that we would get a bug free,at least all the features enabled cm 11 version or its gonna be like all the other versions where the dev skips to the next version as soon as it arrives leaving the older version behind."
if thats the case then it time to sell my device and move on to another one. !!
Regards.

Well, that's about AOSP and while getting it perfect will certainly be a major step for a perfect CM some implementations are different (in fact this was a key factor in choosing to focus on AOSP -- upstream CM changes very often)...
About Bluetooth audio, it's almost a given everyone's waiting for the next version of Bluez (which will then need porting and experimentation) while for FM some progress by trial and error is apparently being made, and thank the ex STE company and their partners for radio support not having been ready a good 2 years ago...
Hi guys,
That's my first tread on xda.
The question is "Would someone do Android L potring??" Obviusly on our GT-i9300.
I'm not telling that i want a porting now but i'm afraid that this device will die after the 5.0 update.
So you good developers would you do the android 5.0 porting For us?
Bye.

Android L is still not yet fully developed by Google and thus it is a developer preview and is not suitable to be a daily driver rom. Maybe try asking after Google release Android L as an official update.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
well ports are already happening for some devices(n7 2k12 for instance)
but i doubt it will for s3, in fact i doubt we will even receive L (unofficialy)
it tooks months to get fully hw support in Kk thanks to closed source drivers
it took almost a year to fully fix the áudio driver (this one we already have a open source version of it)
and so on. also we are running 4.1+ on a "hacky" way (4.1 was meant for 3.1+ kernel, we have 3.0.101)
yet still, because of drivers we can´t achieve full speed(animations are quite bad) on custom roms, and thats with roms with same version as of Samsung).
but if we get, will be in october when the full release comes
The Android L preview image is not complete and is intended for devs for Nexus devices. A lot of things are missing.
We will have to wait till later this year for a port (if someone does it).

Dear Developers and Hackers of XDA,
I just bought this tablet. I looked around on the MIUI forum for MI Pad 2 and see that there are ways to root a developer MIUI ROM for this tablet. I also see that there are also instructions to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery. I am big fan of Cyanogemod and am hoping to have it on the tablet. Has anybody tried and/succeeded to port Cyanogenmod to this tablet?
Hoping for the best
Sincerely

Hi dEvasEnApati I'm in your situation! I hope to recive news as soon as possible because i want to install cyano!
Xda dev have you got some news?
Hi,
Following the instructions from the miui forum I managed to unlock the bootloader, root , install TWRP and AOSP rom. I was wondering what are the requirements to have a cyanogen mod for it? Are there CMs for devices with intel x86_64 hardware?
I'll get my mipad 2 soon! I think in a week or two then I'll Start heavy development on it ? i think of aosp is possible cm will be possible too :] I'll keep u guys updated
Hi Nailyouh,
Thank you very much for doing this!
Maybe this may help: As paul_ro21 mentioned, a working AOSP rom, which was most probably developed by Xiaomi is available on the miui forums. I have it on my mi pad 2 as well and it's working fine. I am looking forward to a CM rom for this tablet and I will be happy to help with testing!
Sincerely

Waiting for your work on CM
Im too tired with stupid MIUI on this awesome tablet :
Stupid ram management, it has 2gb ram but it cannot run multi-tasking !
Im facing a big Problem i was not aware about..the Kernel of the MiPad2 is not open source so we are pretty f**ed by xiaomi. In fact the Kernel source has to be released but xiaomi don't care about Copyright infringements. I regret the decision buying this Tab. I like the Dualboot thingy and the aosp Rom runs smooth as butter but without the source we'll stuck on 5.1.1. really sad if you ask me, the Tablet is really beautyful and I love the outstanding Display. I'll try to figure around with the kernel from the aosp Rom next week I'll keep u informend and will make a thread if I suceed.
