[Q] Archos 101G9 [ROM] [4.3.1] CyanogenMod 10.2 - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am new so I cannot post this in the developper section.
Please repost it there for me.
I have an Archos 101G9 Turbo with 512Mb RAM both on woot dot com a while ago.
Last night, I installed [ROM] [4.3.1] CyanogenMod 10.2
works perfectly; faster than the previous ICS rooted ROM.
GPS seems to work, camera is OK (not nice picture but at least work and with color).
Sound works.
Didn't test the MIC, bluetooth and USB mounting.
I tried the 2013-11-08 build.
The HDMI does not seems to work.
I tried to change the HDCP settings in the settings app, but I still get nothing on my TV and it was working with the ICS rooted ROM.
Did anybody can confirm my finding ?
I think the problem might be that the Archos 80G9 does not use the same HDMI chip as the 101G9; so the driver could be missing from the build.
I say other custom ROM having problems with HDMI, so maybe we could check what they did and it might help.
Will test the MIC, bluetooth and USB mounting (from the mini-usb connector, not the full USB port) today.
I have no 3G stick, so I cannot test the USB port. (and really don't care, except if someone can active it as a full USB port)

bluetooth does not work
MIC works. SD card R & W works.
external USB via NTFS mounter R & W works (superuser root access works)
but bluetooth does not seems to work. It cannot find my Pebble watch and my old ROM was able in the past.
Anybody can test the bluetooth on Archos 101G9 ?
Also I have and 8Gb version, not Hard Drive.

Hello,
same for me 'I am new so I cannot post this in the developer section.'
I have installed the latest 02_12 version with the 101 kernel provided by Quallenauge (thanks)
but I have problems with the display. The boot logo is stretched and the tool bar is on the right side and the Google search bar on the left.
The size on the screen is very small and I cannot add widgets or APPs on the right or left side (~3 cm on both side).
I had the 08_11 version before updating to the 02_12 and there was no problem
(And before 08_11 the original 4.0.28 version was on the tablet).
Can somebody help?
Fixed. After re-downloding of the kernel zimage the flashing was successfully.

[Q] Observations (and Questions) on Folio 3xx (HC) v0.4

Hi ALL,
newbies here (on Folio aka AS100, and Android too).
After playing around with the Folio and the Folio 3xx v0.4 ROM...;
(Thanks to all the developers and contributors)
1) Youtube - Thanks to HIGHPOISS...the removal of the Youtube app that was part of the ROM and replacing it with the one extracted from 1.6 to 1.7 (de vegacomb) allows all the previously unplayable to be played (see proper Folio 3xx v0.4 thread)
2) PowerSwitch - I used the demo, and it helps somewhat with the SOD issue (at least for my unit)
3) 3G - for Der Artem (if he's still following this). There is that 3G SIM slot available just above the battery, but covered in some sort of plastic. Does this mean it is already supported (my unit is the AP AS100 8GB)? Or is the wiring not completed, or the firmware (stock or mods) are yet to support it?
4) Overclocking - as what Jon2555 said in the Folio 3xx v0.4 thread, the upper limit of 1000Mhz seems to do the tricks with regards to responsiveness and less-occurrence of SODs.
5) Gallery - I am at this stage stumped on how to enable this for the external SD card, and on my unit it is also not doing what it supposed to do for media (pics/vids) stored on the internal storage. Can somehow assist please? Thank you
6) WIFI - There is occasional occurrence of turning-on error when it is turned off by selecting the option. I also experienced a sort-of hang situation when it is scanning for a wifi network after being brought back from screen-off state.
(I set screen to timeout after 5 minutes, and WIFI disconnect when screen turns off)
(the hang situation sometime also occurs if I set the disconnect option to never when plugged in, and I was testing with both unplugged and plugged in)
7) APP2SD - I applied the init.d 'patch' via ADB (thanks Jon2555). It 'fails' on the adb push /path_to_directory/xbin/run-parts /system/xbin...coz it couldn't find the run-parts in the directory.
Will update on any other observations...once I found 'em.
Thanks again to all (Dexter, Jon2555, mblaster, der artem, ...)
Can you tell me more about run-parts error? I founded error in making system.img-to big size of files. I pack it and upload soon.

Hi Jon.
It says "file not found".
(Sidetrack: trying gingerbread cyanogenmod 7.2 now...YouTube not part of package?)
Cheers
During pushing?

Hi Jon.
Yes during "adb push /path_to_directory/xbin/run-parts /system/xbin.
I check the init.d zip file and I cannot find run-parts in it.

Oh...my bad sorry. I'll reupload.

Thanks Jon.
I am for the last 4 days been 'playing' with the Cyanogenmod 7.1 (Der Artem version not the latest put up by mblaster..mblaster's 7.2 RC0 seems to hit me with SODs after SODs).
Few questions to you (who has been 'everywhere' on this Folio custom ROMs):
1) have you tried any of the 3G options (usb dongle)?
2) in my OP, i refer to the internal SIM slot...it's there, but is it usable (mine is the WIFI-only 8GB...but I wonder...)
Thanks again. Was following up closely on the Folio3xx 0.4 forum, but can't post there...i am a junior of junior-member group.
(reason for 'jumping ship' to CM7 (.1) is to have the camera functionality working, so that I can try using skype video, and to try/test the powerswitch app from ftg99...and of course 3G usb).
Cheers.
Z
3G is working with HC with modem. Yes, there are please for internal modem but Toshiba didn't include it. I heared for 3G model but from what I see no one have it.

Sixaxis controller and Galaxy S with Slim ICS

Hello everyone
This is my first thread and I need some help about the issue in the title
It may be long, but I prefer to give as much details as possible
I recently flashed my SGS I9000 with Slim ICS 4.0.4 and this ROM is simply perfect (Starting with a device with 2.3.6 stock ROM)
Everything works fine, even bluetooth file receiving from another phone but I have problems running sixaxis controller
I have tried many versions (0.5.2, 0.5.3, 0.5.4; even 0.1)
Compatibility checker said that my device is compatible, but pairing with controller never works
The first time it have displayed the message "Client connected" but lights on my controller still blink fast
Investigating deeper, I have taken a look inside the directory "root/data/misc/bluetoothd/[aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff]" (My mac address)
The file "names" in this directory, that displays the names of paired equipments, was showing "PLAYSTATION (R)3 Controller" between many other device names so in fact it was somehow detected
Renamed this directory to erase any previous configuration with no success
Changed even my mac address (I don't advice this because this may lead bluetooth to not work with anything)
Used Motioninjoy software to pair my controller with PC bluetooth successfully
I thought to go back to gingerbread 2.3.5 (not 6 cause it is somehow buggy) or even CM7 because I have read that some users got it to work there but Slim ICS is very performant
PS:
My controller is a genuine Sony® controller
Any help to resolve this is welcome
Thanks in advance
Any chance to someone trying this issue ?
I'm consdering going back to gingerbread 2.3.5 if no solution

[Q] Crypto tablet (GRC) based on tcc8803 800mhz dead. Any chance to revive ?

Hi to all
I have a tab with following specs
TCC8803 800mhz, 256ram, 4gb intern SD, display 7" 800x480 capacitive, HDMI, rtl8188cus wifi, no 3g. no bluetooth, no gps, support extern SD -32gb,
support extern keyb thru USB-OTG.
tab was rooted worked ok till tried to put Linux through Internet. Was downloading packages and then wifi lost connection.
ever since the chip warm-up ( opened tab and felt it ! ) but no display or sound at all !! I think i left it on debug mode in order to have
external keyboard work.
windows 7 will see it as 'unknown/ unrecognized' device, i forced ADB drivers to it, I get Android phone but also 'device cannot start.
Tried to conx with TV via HDMI but nothing there too.
I went through many forums, potential solutions but cant find anything applicable to my problem. Tried to format a 4gb SD with sardu
tested ok with quemu but nothing on the tab. no lights, no sound, silence of death !!! FYI no power led on this 150 euro device.
have saved some system files if someone wants me to upload.
So decided to ask for help / ideas in this forum.
thanks in adv
ps : android 2.3.1 gingerb, rooted w superclick 2.3.3.
anybody could help please ?

[Q] EngelDroid EN1007M

I'd bought this WE a little box from Engel Axil with Android 2.3.
This box is powered by an ARM CORTEX (armv7) processor with 512Mo of RAM and 2Go stockage.
More info HERE.
I'd installed openssh and I can see the return of 'uname -a':
Code:
Linux localhost 2.6.34 V1.3.0-70-gee2481e(20120217.100957) armv7l GNU/Linux
A spanish community seem to have succeed to make a ICS release for it HERE, but they don't say anything about the procedure to install this.
Is there somebody here which will be able to explain me how to upgrade my Engeldroid ?
With 'busybox installer' and ssh terminal, I am able to get root access.
Now I try to set the default home launcher to something else than original spanish launcher....
I'm interested in this too!
The EngelDroid 1007M looks just like what I need, but I don't like that its software is in spanish.

Hello Guys,
I'm living in Spain myself and bought me one of these nifty boxes as well and started to fizzle around with it.
Here are my findings with it so far:
Android:
The box comes standard with Android 2.4.3 (or was it 2.3.4, I'm at work right now and can't remember correctly ) but can be upgraded to a 4.0.3 version that is made by Mygica.es.
The link to download the upgrade is indeed the link you've posted.
To install this upgrade you will need to download the zipfile, rename it to update.img and copy it to a clean SD Card.
Make sure that the Engeldroid is powered off and put the SD Card in the Engeldroid.
Than take something pointy and press and hold the reset button on the back (the smal little hole) and plug in the power connection to boot the Engeldroid in update mode. You can release the reset button when you see the restore-android-logo appearing on the screen.
The droid will now look for the update.img on the SD Card and start updating your box. There will be a random offset message but that is nothing to worry about and does not give any problems with the installation.
The first time after installing this new Android version the unit will take up to 15 minutes to boot it due to installing all settings and default apps from this custom rom.
The normal remote control with the keyboard on the back won't work anymore, but the motion controller will. It is highly advisable to connect a wireless keyboard and/or mouse or combination. Myself, I'm using a Logitech K400 keyboard/touchpad combination which works flawless.
Another option for the Media Center tweakers would be to install Linux with XBMC on this.
It is nowhere comfirmed but that is how I am using my Engeldroid at the moment and it turned my droid box into a proper XBMC media center and Samba file server that shares all my movies from the connected disc on the network as well.
The install procedure is the almost the same as with the other ROMS, download, unpack the zipfile, make sure the file is called update.img, copy to the root of the SD Card, plug it in and reset the droid with the reset button hold.
The link for the specific build of XBMC Linux that is working with our droid I can't post here yet, but search on google for: Pivos XBMC-Linux Beta 100912 and you will find the Pivos forums with the release topic of this ROM.
Don't try the Android ROM from Pivos, it is not compatible with the Engeldroid EN1007M. No worries if you want to try it, it won't blow up our box but just won't install.
If you have any more specific questions, please ask or send me a message or email and I will get in touch with you.
Official update
There is an official update for this device to ICS 4 (site in spanish though)
engeldroid . com
Got to "Nueva ROM Android 4 ICS" --> "ROM Android 4 ICS" (I'd link it but I don't have 10 posts yet )

Hi Aidan, great job with this.
I just tried it on my Nexbox A95X-B7N (16GB ROM/2GB RAM) and it works fine so far, have not done any in-depth testing yet.
No Wifi as it stands as mine uses the AP6630 chip, I picked your 6212 variant hoping it might work but no dice.
Remote doesn't work either but that's to be expected. (MiBox works with BT Remote whereas the original Nexbox A95X with an IR one)
I own a Mi Box S as well, and the experience is very comparable.
Let me know if you need anything tested, I'll check LAN later in the day as well

Awesome Glad its Close To Stock, The Feel I'm Going For, To Try & Get Wi-Fi Working You Can Try Take Drivers From A Working 9.0 ROM (8.0 will probably work too as both use newer kernel 4.19), Look For Relevant Files in Vendor/Etc & Vendor/Lib, The Base Rom Has Root Already So You Can Edit Vendor Then Flash "Wi-Fi Works Already, This Should Leave Vendor Changes Intact And Just Flash The System, My IR Remote Works, You Could Use HDMI CEC & USB, I Tend To Use Ethernet myself. Use Powerline Ethernet Adapters
Great rom Aidan. It installed on my box, very cool user interface. WiFi didn't work though but I used my Tplink portable router to connect through Lan port. My WiFi chip type is realtek rtl8188f sort of. I hope you add it to your next release. The remote didn't work either I copied and pasted my remote.conf file on to vendor/etc folder still no luck. Do I need to change my remote.conf file to remote.tab file format? Or what should I do to make it work? I brought out all remote I have in my house and was testing them one by one funny enough I got one that can increase volume up and down, another button scroll up and another scroll down, power off and on and what was to be menu button worked as Google assistance button. I'm using that remote for now. Thanks for this great job. Ah! why should I forgot; I want to commend you the rom is Google certified by default. My Dstvnow app works.

Unfortunatley not but the only change in v2 is the install method, everything else is pretty much the same as v1 so there is no major reason to upgrade from v1 (I assume you have v1 installed and not my older ATV v7.4)

Ahh tha is its Good to know it runs well on 1gb ram devices, I notaced on the qca version the file manager wouldn't launch (I use the ap6212a) I ended up disabling file manager & video player among others and downloaded a file browser from the play store, the one of my usb stick that worked in my android 7 wasnt recognised and needed the system to format to use, others formatted my my PC seem ok
FYI I am using the AP6212 and maybe more rom. Did install Kodi Leia (18.9) succesfully but had to install through google Play...
Also succeeded in flashing this snappy rom to my A95X Nexbox. A95X-B7N Not connected yet will update here later..
So even the Nexbox started up! .. But...
The original remote from the Nexbox did not work (The remote from the other box MXq did work though..pfff)
The Wifi does not work. Does not see any network. Switches itself off, will try the non 6212 rom.
Update: Tried the QCA rom on the Nexbox, wifi sees more networks but cannot connect... returns with message network xx not found.. I think these boxes have the realtek 8189 Wifi...
On the MXq installed another file explorer that works but it still does not see the USB.
Will update later..

hey progress, still limited with Wi-Fi fixes currently still learning hope to make more improvements in future versions, basically currently advice is try the 3 versions hopefully one works as i cant say that the changes made to get one chip to work didn't make another one work too (Should Probably Rename All 3 To XXXXX & Maybe Others) can then get a list started with information on version & Chip compatibility
as for the nexbox, on android 7 most firmware's would have no remote, and had a bug where the device wouldn't wake from standby mode and needed power cycled, i can suggest trying other android 9 roms and let me know if any fix any of the issues (Standby Bug, remote & wifi) be helpful in figuring out android 9 changes needed
Hi there, thanks for active development.
Can somebody confirm whether it works on MDZ-22-AB ?
